LMAO I never actually considered the ultimate irony of the fact that these guys are literally making a living DOING THE RIGHT THING in the process of screwing over everyone doing the WRONG thing. Maybe that's why these channels are so addictive - it's rare to see instant justice or any form of karma these days. The good people always seem to get screwed by the bad guys.

I once saw someone in front of me buying $1000 worth of cards. Saying they were for Christmas for the grandkids. I thought ok, nice grandparent. Then I realized they were also on the phone. I asked if the call was an Indian dude asking to get gift cards. They were like how did you know. I said they were being scammed. I showed them these videos and they went apes*** on the guy on the phone. They were very grateful.

My grandfather, who has probably never broken the law in his life, was called by someone telling him they were with the county sheriffs office and that he had missed jury duty. They told him he owed them a $4,000 fine for such crime and he had to send them every bit of it on the prepaid Visa gift cards. He believed every word. While he was in Home Depot, it hit him what was happening. The people scamming him were indeed in the same county, about 10 miles away from his home. They caught this group and it made him so happy when he saw it on the news.
I'm sorry to hear about what they did to your grandfather. These scumbags prey on innocent elders, makes me smile that Scammer Payback annoys these scammers!

Everyone should tell and educate their elderly family members and relatives about these scams. It's not even about old people being senile or anything like that, but they're generally very naive and goodwilled, so the scammers know that and often try to guilt trip them or worse, try to befriend them and be amicable and since many old people feel lonely, they fall for the evil trap
I've seen many scams where middle aged people who were divorced or lost their partner, were deceived on social media like Facebook by someone pretending to like them and wanting to meet and date them. Then after they steal their money they disappear
I received the same scam. Fortunately I live a block from the police station and told him I’d go in and pay it. He started screaming that I better not go in or I’ll be arrested. I kept saying I’ll still go. It was so much fun.

How do you know he isn't. There was a big bust somewhere out there and sure enough those at least, were all rounded up. Maybe the same? There's a video on that one. Maybe a team mate? Later on in the investigation?

The US and India need some sort of treaty where these scammers get extradited to the US. Surely these scammers don't pay any taxes so its not like the Indian government is worried they'll lose tax revenues. They have absolutely no reason to protect these criminals and every reason to get rid of them.

As a native Bengali speaker (from Bangladesh) I can say that by knowing our language you have honoured us. Thank you for going after those scumbags. They scammed me cause I didn't know better back then. They tried to scam my parents too. But by then, I knew how they do it. So, I took over and played dumb and in the end when started cursing them in Bengali, they hung up. After that I just called their number every weekend for a month approximately 10+ times a day. At last, they begged me not to call them. Thank you again and please keep up the great work you are doing for ordinary people out there.
The Bengali they're speaking has a Calcutta (Indian) dialect. Different to the Bengali dialect of Bangladesh...

@@sepulcher8263 As a native speaker, I would say it is quite difficult considering there are 50 alphabets with various forms of vowels and consonants including pronunciation variations, and obviously the grammar. I would say if someone wants to learn they will need at least 3-5 years of constant and serious practice and great deal of exposure to the language in some form on a daily basis.

My Dad is 84 and has Stage 3+ dementia. These assholes called him relentlessly and always the first question was about his age. He was getting an average of 50 calls per day! I found a phone service that allows me to only allow people in his contacts to call him. It's only a few dollars more than the service he was getting through his cable company. These criminals should get every bit of hassle you give. Thanks for your continuing work against this scum.

I downloaded Scam Shield 🛡 for free, and if the a scammer gets lucky and gets through, my phone will say 'Scam likely'. Otherwise, my phone won't even ring when it's scammers.
I think it only works on cellphones though.

Shows that we have a lot to change in the way our system works and i hope that in the future, people can be more intelligent and have a more fluid system instead of this money seeking sewer, internet and youtube turned so many things possible to monetize. You're not even kidding. I got hit up by a scammer 3 years ago (my first experience with that) and I figured it out right away because I'm not old and I have common sense. I called the cops, cops told me to call the FBI, I called the FBI, and they said, "Just hang up if they ever call you again. We can't follow up on this because it always comes from a foreign country and they use untraceable numbers anyway." Bullshit but whatever. FBI is barely willing to do anything. But my tax dollars go to them. Pierogi on the other hand is actually doing a public service.

So sick of these people. My mom is getting voice mails with obvious scammers trying to call her. I delete them but she's in her 70's and has dementia as well. I have to go through all her mailings and phone calls because I don't want her to be scammed. Someone said the cure for scammers is education-- but there are no formal classes “How to protect yourself from phone scammers...” One of those damn Calcuttians called my husband one morning (Esposito knows- -0- about Computers; and hates them too) Well this damn Indian was a pro. My grandmother almost felt for this exact scam! She was getting her shoes on to go down to rite aid to get “gift cards” before my grandfather stopped her. Love the content, scammer payback keep doing what your doing!
Thank God he did! A good friend from work told me a mutual friend and coworker was in a long distance relationship for quite sometime with a guy. He said he's in the military but she and a few others found it he was lying and that he was an Indian scammer using Facebook as a way to get money out of people. Had this woman going out and sending gift card, spending $300 if not more on them a few times. She didn't believe it and got sucked for a long time. The guy even posted a picture behind large sign, the words were misspelled and his hands were dark in skin tone BUT his profile picture is that of a white guy. He was pretending to be someone else, using their photos.
"There's a mole inside your call center", best line. Keep planting seeds of suspicion and doubt... let them eat themselves from the inside.

When I get these Nigerian email scams, I talk to them for a while and play stupid, then I tell them I'd feel more comfortable continuing on my private email address and give them some other scammer's email.
The confidence he had to stay in character even after some of the heated arguments is legendary

Hacking is not a simple thing, he can't simple hack into any computer he wants in there, he doesn't have that access. he somehow managed to get a virus into this dude's computer (most likely) and gained access, this is why he doesn't always get access. Most likely he knows someone good with hacking that is doing this for him, and he only calls them once the hacker has access.
I could imagine getting such a high from doing this. Simultaneously you saved someone potentially thousands of dollars while also wasting a scammers entire shift. Awesome work man

@Peopleless Homes sadly a lot of the times older people are their best target because they have dementia or other mental illnesses that affect how clear they think and they can get confused easy. Even if they forget why they are going to the store or spending money if they have some person yelling at them to do something it can use their confusion to their advantage. Constant confusion and forgetfulness also makes things like telling them to lie without question a lot easier too.
I think some old people are kind of stupid when it comes to computers but their best chance at getting money is old people with memory issues that live alone and can't get advice from people that can think clearly.
so yeah sometimes "stupid" people fall for this but a lot of people sometimes forget that "old people that live alone and the family doesn't know they have dementia yet" is a huge demographic for them and its really pretty sad. This could also hypothetically affect younger people with confusion/forgetfullnes/dementia as well.
They always refer to Target as “THE Target”, and Walmart as “THE Walmart”... well they all can just go to “THE Hell”!

The guy most likely doesn’t know what a mole means. Next time say we have a “Jasus” pronounced as “Jaas-oose” which means spy or mole. More than half of his conversation is scripted.

I work customer service at a place that sends money/do gift cards and the number of people I have to deny or force the system to deny because they are trying to buy a puppy or the “Sheriff department is after them” for warrants they don’t have is saddening. People get mad and yell at me because they truly do believe what the scammers tell them…

He didn’t steal from the scammers. They tried to trick him into thinking he had the scammers money so he would pay them money. But the $4000 was only his own money transferred from his other account.

I loved the fact you strung this guy along for 4 hours. In that timeframe, he could have coached another victim out a portion of/their life savings. I appreciate your hard work kind sir. This scammer is so stupid that he calls money that his company "accidentally" sent to that lady "my money". He really is that filled with greed, so impatient that he broke character. Not the sharpest tool in a shed.

I did this once for about 4 hours because I was so entertained by how hard the scammers were working. But my thing was not nearly as sophisticated. I never let them connect to my computer because it wasn't prepared for that. So for 4 solid hours, they attempted to talk me through installing "Team Beaver". Exasperated, they ultimately hung up. It makes me happy to see someone with the skills to take it to them like this!
My brother told me he got one of these calls through voicemail he immediately recognized. He calls back and when they asked for my brothers name he said and I quote “ yes my first name is jack and my last name is me off” and the scammer got pissed and went off🤣
