It is lovely and large! The one in the video is the most well-known but there are many other cozy, smaller ones with indie dyed yarn, imported yarn, Korean yarn as well :)
I can read most of the book titles. Here they are, in case somebody wants to search for them: 8:15 (this book focuses on making bags): 23番糸で編むエコアンダリヤのかごバッグ 8:45 (left) (this book is about knitting garments for adults -- there are patterns for a couple of sweaters, a hat, fingerless gloves, etc.): 大人のナチュラルニット 8:45 (right) This one was too blurry for me to read, sorry. :( 9:15 (this book focuses on knitting stitch patterns, including colorwork): 編み込みと模様編みの棒針パターン I hope that helps somebody if they want to find these books. :)
Hi, running out of yarn is such a ‘bummer’ sorry no other word quite says the same. But, I think if you ripped out the blue bag and continued the cream in-the-round base it could be a nice two, or three colour project bag/pouch.
I really appreciate the fact that you often knit with bright or unexpected colours, especially colours you don't see a lot in knitwear. I'm not drawn to light neutrals because I don't look great in most of them so sometimes I overlook patterns because I don't want to do the work of finding out if it would still look good in a different colour. I would have never thought to knit the sweater you're wearing in that shade of blue but it is so striking.
Did you see your book Knit This! in Banul??? I saw that you went there on your stories on Instagram so I decided to visit it and I loveeeeeed the shop so much, and they had your book on display on the table in front, so got it from them! ♥️
Hi, Kika, I'm following you for a time and I'm very glad to having found you. I'm used to knitting down-up so it's for this reason that I try to learn new ways to knit. I have seen your book in finish and english. I was gratefully surprised when I found it in german in Amazon. I wish I could find it in Spanish. I'm from Barcelona. I was living in Sweden for three years so I'm in love of scandinavian culture. Thanks for sharing your knitting knowledge. Congratulations for your work!!
Thank you taking us along on your honeymoon trip to Japan, it was most interesting, so colourful, the wool shops looked so organised and modern, wishing you and your husband many years of good health and happiness for the future.
So good to have you back. I forgot you were away and was concerned when I didn't see any new videos. My sweater project is going very well!! Thank you for your expertise!
Hello!Kika❤ I'm looking forward to your travel videos! I am Japanese, but I knit in English and Japanese. It's true that Japanese and English have different expressions, so it's difficult! ! Please let me know if there is anything you can't solve in Japanese ☺️☺️ I'm going back to Japan from Sweden at the end of this month, and I'm looking forward to visiting Japanese bookstores! I'm looking forward to the next video too 😊❤
I always happy everytime you smile and laugh , and I hope to live a better life with the hobbies that I really enjoy, knitting and crochet like you do 🥺💕💕
Your little red (reddish?) bag would look awesome with a leather strap, look thru belts at your local thrift shop! Might get a really cool colored one!
Such an inspiring video! Love it and I love the crochet bags trend! Maybe you could use one of the other colours (blue or pink) to make stripes on the white project bag? Giving a bit of a navy vibe 😍
If the bag doesn't work out, the cotton yarn might be nice for crocheting like a yoga mat holder? Something like that seems friendly for bold colors. I'm happy you got to enjoy Tokyo during cherry blossom season, it's a wonderful time! Glad you had such a nice trip.
Hi I’ve just seen this lovely video. The cream project bag could be turned into a bag with stripes using the Japanese yarns that you don’t have enough of, it might look really cute and be useful!
What a fabulous visit to Seoul and Toyko. You will be able to to work something out regarding the bags. How about funky mixed colours in the yarn you bought. Heippa ❤😊
Hi kika, as always your videos are a pure balm for the soul (and the eyes) I just finished watching your "24h knitting challenge" video while finishing my own knitting challenge (it's a simple beanie but it was my first project). You were a good company, it felt like knitting with a friend who is a llttle ball of sunshine :) I was wandering if you ever thought of making some sort of "knit with me" videos, where you simply talk for a while about whatever you like. I would honestly love them, your vibes and the visual of your videos remind me of the year I spent in Tallinn, where I learnt how to crochet and knit. I hope you'll read my comment, regardless from that I love your videos I hope you have a lovely day! ☀️
Love the artful way things are displayed. Your yarn room is also artfully arranged. I wish I knew what length and brand your single point knitting needs are. Some have round tops, and other have the slanted. The length is my interest.
❤Kika knits! Im jealous. U went to my Tokyo. I was born and raised in Japan. We moved to US in '65. So glad u had a great time. Im sure u saw how expensive yarn is there. Ugh!
Frog the blue one and add it to your cream one. It will make a lovely colour block bag. If it is still too little, another colour on top, like the coral, or a mustard yellow, will still work.
The crochet bag started in white would be perfect for the two toned bags which are so popular. Like maybe the top part car be grey, or taupe, brown or black or even a bright color like red or green!
I was just checking Banul app to check weekly sale and it’s really cool that you went! Hope you saw the lovely, spacious cafe upstairs and saw the cute knit/crochet items. Hope I could send you more yarn, they are not so expensive here. Crochet bags are a thing here. I even purchased crochet yarn two years ago but I still didn’t learn how to crochet 😂 There are other cozy, small shops with European yarn and American yarn but in the outskirts of Seoul. Hope you enjoyed! Hello from Seoul 😉🙌
Kinokuniya is wonderful. And a special bonus, they have worldwide locations. There’s one in San Francisco where I have shopped many times and like you I have always loved Japanese culture and the opportunity to explore knitting books (and crochet and sewing) is a thrill. I also love the magazines that include sewing patterns, house design and cooking. My guilty pleasure from Kinokuniya? Books that are compilations of tattoo designs. Amazing. When I first became aware of the Japanese aesthetic I noticed all the knitting patterns came in one size. Then I learned about ‘bride’s school’ where women could learn how to cook, clean, design, crochet and knit. The lessons include how to resize any pattern. There are still bride’s schools, although not as popular. And the Japanese stitch dictionaries are phenomenal. It takes a while to apply the chart reading lessons but once you do, WOW. You especially would work wonders with these resources. Thank you for sharing your Asian honeymoon experiences. What fun!💜
Oh you were at my city! Seoul! Happy to see you had fun time😊 And yes, crochet bag is always on in Korea and they're very popular. We're like when in doubt, just pick up a bag project😜
With the first bag, if you have a solid paired with a marled color, always join with the solid color. It will look cleaner. With the bag that didn't have enough for a strap, I would find an old bag or purse and connect the strap with a D-ring. You can also sew liners for the bulkier weight yarns if you are worried about things getting caught or falling thru.
Hi Kika! So happy to hear you and Yuki had a great time in Japan and Korea. I have been to both places as well and can't wait to go back. I visited Korea in 2009 when my husband was stationed there in the Army. We bought a lock at the Seoul Tower and hope to see it again. Their countryside and culture (both places) are beautiful. Your Arctic sweater is stunning! I'm so happy to hear that you are creating a tutorial video for the Wishbone sweater. I will be choosing the same color
I love my Japanese crochet books!!! I can't read Japanese but charts are universal so still easy to read... Hmmmm I think I just got my crojo back. BRB... crocheting...
Great podcast! Lovely to see your trip and all the acquisitions and creative inspirations. When I lived in San Francisco, CA there was a Kinokuniya bookstore in Japan Town. I also bought Japanese craft books and found with the sewing books I could work from the diagrams...so I am sure you will be able to figure out what you need from your new library ;) Looking forward to the Wishbone Sweater tutorial...no rush it will be an Autumn project. Thank you!
Hello Kika, I have just found your UA-cam vlog and will definitely be subscribing. I was in Japan a few years back and loved it! Sadly I wasn’t in my knitting phase then, but was sewing and found some fabulous fabric, crafting stores. We will return one day, and I will be seeking out the yarn shops. Hope you had a wonderful honeymoon. Best wishes from UK
Aww lovedt this one! So many yarns in Bangul gosh yarn heaven :D I guess I wathced a korean blogger who also recomended this shop. About the bag project. You could try to pair the blue cord (blue-pink crochet bag) with the beige cord maybe? So that you have enough yarn to make a bigger blue-beige bag? The sweaters you knit are so lovely. Watching you carefree knitting top down raglan sweaters made me want to try to knit one, too. :D
The sweater you are wearing is gorgeous! I am a few dozen bobbles away from finishing a shawlette, yay! And next is a crocheted, full size shawl in cotlin for summer! Blessings to you and yours 🌻🧶
I so admire your beautiful knit sweaters. As for the crochet bags, it's too bad you didn't take a few pattern yarn requirements with you so you could buy the correct amount. I seldom shop without a pattern anymore just to ensure I buy enough yarn. You do gorgeous work. And your English is flawless!
The colors of yarn you got in Seoul remind me of Korean hanbok dresses, maybe you can combine them to make a ham ok inspire purse and have something to remember your trip to Seoul. 🙂
Hi kika, I can help you for the books that you bought in Japan. The name of books and Publishers. The 1st one is (23ban ito de amu EKOAN DARIA no kago bags kagi ami 30)Published by Seibundo shinko sha. The 2nd one is (Otonano Natural knit)Published by Asahi shinbun sha. Hi Perhaps you can combine all the colours for a large stripped type bag ..would look awesome with a big chunky strap :) Good Luck :) Awesome honeymoon destination and that yarn shop is so unique looking and looks huge.
I really loved the tutorial videos you made for Arctic Lights sweater, and would definitely love to see the wishbone sweater tutorial. That sweater is one I really want to make. Hi from Canada 🇨🇦
The blue crocheted bag can be finished with eco/leather straps or with some resistant fabric around the edges to give the bag an even shape, perhaps? Like your videos, as always full of ideas and passion!!!
Could you frog the royal blue bag and use it and the pink to complete the tan project bucket bag in the cotton nepcord, in color block stripes? Thanks much for posting, I love seeing your travels to different yarn shops around the world!
I just got your grandmacore hood but it’s a bit of a stretch for me skill wise when picking up stitches. Do you have a video tutorial for it yet or plan to do one? 🥰💕 Love your channel, I just found it a few weeks ago now. Thanks!
I would combine the 3 cotton yarns in one bag project with 3 stripped sections. Use the darkest color for the bottom, natural color in the middle and red on top.
If you come to Tokyo again next time, i would like to show you go to Yuzawaya at Kamata station Tokyo . They have many yarn and big shop buy anything for craft.
So happy you’re doing a tutorial for the Wishbone sweater ☺️ I have the yarn for it and bought the pattern but have projects I want to finish first. I plan on using Isager eco soft + a silk mohair yarn ☺️ I think it’s going to be so soft and gorgeous ☺️ Also Japon is definitely on our bucket list ♥️ It looks like you were there at the perfect time 🌸 🌸🌸 Thank you for your videos. I love them all but that’s the first time I post a comment 🤭
Kika??!!...... me when I do bags projet I have a minimum of 5 balls when I start.... to bad that you don't have anough... because the colors are superb!!! Have a good day!!
Ihana video, hyvä fiilis tarttui ❤ Meilläkin on näillä näkymin tarkoitus lähteä häämatkalle Japaniin, hyvä tietää että tuollaisia lankataivaita löytyy!
Your sweater is beautiful. I would combine the different colors of yarn to complete the bags. Make it stripped or any combination and you should have enough yarn.
Wow when were you at Walnut store? I was literally there last week on my honeymoon too. I bought some of the hand-dyed 4ply on the wall to the left when you walk in. I'm really curious about how Japanese yarns have so much cotton and linen in them and keen to see how a garment knits up.
Since the cotton cord bags are made with the same kind of yarn, why don't you frog the blue one and make an off-white-and-blue project bag? The colors go well together.
Hi! Ive been following you on UA-cam for about a month now. You are so very talented! Your way of presenting is very likable and self-deprecating, I instantly felt a connection to you. I purchased your book and its beautiful! I want to make the secret crush sweater. I want to work using one strand of yarn, you use 2 in the pattern, I know I can play around with gauge, but can you recommend a yarn weight if I only want to use one strand, would it be close to a 5 (Bulky) or 6 (super bulky)? Also, how do I find the pattern/knitting tutorial for that lovely pink lace hood that you are wearing in this video? Thanks!
Hi Kika Why not combine yarn colors for your crochet bags and make one project basket? May be the blue is the only one that doesn’t 100% go with the rest of them? Or may be it will? I don’t know… Love your blogs and videos Thank you for keeping our company with your knitting and crochet 😊
That yarn shop in Seoul is amazing. Wow. It is like an art gallery, high end shop, and knitting paradise all in one.
It is lovely and large! The one in the video is the most well-known but there are many other cozy, smaller ones with indie dyed yarn, imported yarn, Korean yarn as well :)
I can read most of the book titles. Here they are, in case somebody wants to search for them:
8:15 (this book focuses on making bags):
23番糸で編むエコアンダリヤのかごバッグ
8:45 (left) (this book is about knitting garments for adults -- there are patterns for a couple of sweaters, a hat, fingerless gloves, etc.):
大人のナチュラルニット
8:45 (right) This one was too blurry for me to read, sorry. :(
9:15 (this book focuses on knitting stitch patterns, including colorwork):
編み込みと模様編みの棒針パターン
I hope that helps somebody if they want to find these books. :)
8:45 right:着まわしニット
Hi, running out of yarn is such a ‘bummer’ sorry no other word quite says the same. But, I think if you ripped out the blue bag and continued the cream in-the-round base it could be a nice two, or three colour project bag/pouch.
“Me and Yuki.” So cute, glad to see you both so happy!!
Completely agree! I try to do the same but she pulls it off very well!
Did you see your book Knit This! in Banul??? I saw that you went there on your stories on Instagram so I decided to visit it and I loveeeeeed the shop so much, and they had your book on display on the table in front, so got it from them! ♥️

I'm so glad to hear that, thank you so much for your kind words :))

Thank you taking us along on your honeymoon trip to Japan, it was most interesting, so colourful, the wool shops looked so organised and modern, wishing you and your husband many years of good health and happiness for the future.
Could you make a video on your favourite needles? Or tools/accessories in general? Love your work ❤❤❤
So good to have you back. I forgot you were away and was concerned when I didn't see any new videos. My sweater project is going very well!! Thank you for your expertise!
These past few weeks have just flown by! So glad to finally have gotten this video edited and posted here on UA-cam :))
Hello from Toronto. Such a a dose of joy. Beautiful sweaters.
Hello!Kika❤
I'm looking forward to your travel videos!
I am Japanese, but I knit in English and Japanese.

Love love love your sweaters, so cute and snuggly. Planing a family trip to Japan, definitely will stop by these shops. Thanks for the video.
Dear Kika… so happy to find the Grandmacore hood on Ravelry. Ahhh.. been dreaming about knitting this for a long time. Love❤
This yarn store reminds me of Nordstroms! What a beautiful, beautiful yarn store! Love all the samples and the swatches on the wall were fantastic!
I always happy everytime you smile and laugh , and I hope to live a better life with the hobbies that I really enjoy, knitting and crochet like you do 🥺💕💕
The outfits in this video are perfection, like omg pattern mixing in the best way
You make me smile so much, I love watching your videos
Absolutely love the jumper you are wearing and colour. I can’t knit to save my life - 😂❤️
You are just so inspiring to me! Thank you so much for your videos and for bringing the joy of knitting back to me :)
Your little red (reddish?) bag would look awesome with a leather strap, look thru belts at your local thrift shop! Might get a really cool colored one!

Maybe you could use one of the other colours (blue or pink) to make stripes on the white project bag? Giving a bit of a navy vibe 😍
Love the color of sweater you are wearing and the pattern ❤
I waited so patiently for your new video and finally: Here it is! I missed you!🧶♥
It took me so long to get this material edited, but here it is finally! So glad to be able to share about this trip, it was such an experience :)
Happy tu see you again.!

I use google translate app and it works great for translating patterns. Pretty yarns!

In the 60s and 70s in America we had crochet bags, bikinis and plant hangers called macabre it was a very creative time fun.
So happy you visited Japan and it looks like the trip was a huge success 🎉
Happy person, lovely sweater💐
Rip the blue bag apart & combine with white bag for colorwork project bag...
LOVE your sweaters!
Hello from Korea!
I think chrochet bags are always being trend in summer!
With the first bag, if you have a solid paired with a marled color, always join with the solid color. It will look cleaner. With the bag that didn't have enough for a strap, I would find an old bag or purse and connect the strap with a D-ring. Loved seeing some snippets from your honeymoon! And amazing yarn shops 😍❤
Hi Kika! So happy to hear you and Yuki had a great time in Japan and Korea. I have been to both places as well and can't wait to go back. I looooooove that bookshop - I've visited the one in Sydney (I'd honestly say it's my favourite store in that whole city!!)
You can finish your round bag with le blue yarn ! Make à bicolor basket 🙂🙂
Love your videos ! ❤️
I agree. Pull the blue bag apart and finish the white bag in a color block with the blue.
Yesss
Cute!!! “Banul” means needle in Korean. I’ve seen so many ppl visit that store but had never caught the name.
The colors of yarn you got in Seoul remind me of Korean hanbok dresses, maybe you can combine them to make a ham ok inspire purse and have something to remember your trip to Seoul. 🙂
"BANUL" in Korean means "Needle" as in "needle and thread". So glad you had a good time in Korea
Hi kika, I can help you for

The 3rd one is (Kimawashi knit)Published by Bunka shupan kyoku.

What yarn/color is your blue sweater you're wearing made of? I love the color so much
Attaching pink handles to the blue bag could look cute, and different coloured stripes in the same general tone could work for your project bag. :)

Thanks so much for sharing 🌸
Kinokuniya is the best. We have one in Sydney and it’s massive.
Your sweater is beautiful. I would combine the different colors of yarn to complete the bags. Make it stripped or any combination and you should have enough yarn.
Married! I’m happy for you. Best wishes for many good years together.
I wonder if you could combine the red, blue and white yarns of the unfinished bags to make a big project bag? Or beach bag or similar?
You can use an app to translate the language into English. You can scan the page and you will see it in English. The videos are so much fun.

Wow when were you at Walnut store? I was literally there last week on my honeymoon too. I bought some of the hand-dyed 4ply on the wall to the left when you walk in. I'm really curious about how Japanese yarns have so much cotton and linen in them and keen to see how a garment knits up.
Put all your cotton yarns together and make a colorful crochet bag
Since the cotton cord bags are made with the same kind of yarn, why don't you frog the blue one and make an off-white-and-blue project bag? The colors go well together.
WOW! Production value just jumped to an even more beautiful level!
Can you use the blue yarn to finish the project bag? The contrast would really pop.
Thank you ,
Your amazing talented thank you kindly
Maybe you could do a striped/colour block project bag so the yarn goes further?
Hi Kika, will your book ever be available on Amazon?
kinokuniya has two locations in the US, one in New York and one in portland oregon
Hi! Ive been following you on UA-cam for about a month now. You are so very talented! Your way of presenting is very likable and self-deprecating, I instantly felt a connection to you.
Thanks!
Hey Kika, will you eventually make the pattern for your crochet beach bag you Made Last year? I've been waiting ever since you 've posted about it😍
Hi Kika
Why not combine yarn colors for your crochet bags and make one project basket? May be the blue is the only one that doesn’t 100% go with the rest of them? Or may be it will? I don’t know…
Love your blogs and videos
Thank you for keeping our company with your knitting and crochet 😊
I love kdramas and I love yarn. Yes please!
Lovely, interesting video! Can you combine all three unfinished crochet bags into one bigger bag?😄
Hmmm… what if you undo your electric blue bag and add blue and pink strips to your milky colour basket?…
You can always translate Japanese to English with google translate, it works on full pages too ❤❤
Wow nice
