It takes about 85 to 95 days from seed to harvest. If the weather in your area stays above 75F up to harvest, you may be able to start now. I recommend direct sowing the seeds rather than transplanting to speed up the process. Thank you for visiting!
I have a suggestion! Instead of planting multiple small pumpkins can u plant a few large pumpkins? I don't mean like giant pumpkins I mean somewhere like 5-15 pounds. I think it would be cool to see how you could grow them on a trellis or maybe even try to let them grow across the ground!
Love your videos so much! How do you cure your pumpkins? After watching a previous video of yours, I grew Casperita and Snowball pumpkins (both white) but after trying to cure them outside, they have turned a bit yellow. (Zone 7A Long Island NY).
I cure them same like you, just keep them in a dry place. Here in SoCal it is sunny so usually no issues with curing. But I noticed that some of pumpkin/squash family fruits change color after harvesting. I think this is due the light exposure different than when growing. For example, when I keep acorn squash in shade, it changes color from green to orange. So maybe you need to cure pumpkins in same area of the garden that you grow them? It also helps raising the bags from the ground to have a better drainage. But they are totally optional and you can place your grow bags anywhere suits you. Just make sure they get full sun. My space here in Germany isn’t very large but I do want to maximize my growing and use every part of the yard I can but still be very organized with it. This will be my first time gardening here in Germany after moving from the US, and my first time using grow bags for gardening, but since I’m only going to be here for another four years I didn’t want to build raised bed gardens. I don’t see *how* you did it without a trellis. Did you cut vines to keep it from going everywhere? Did you do anything to keep the pumpkins from growing down to the ground? Something that holds them up?
This variety is a bush type and doesn't grow tall vines, so no trellis is needed. Different variety pumpkins grow to different hight/length and not all are same. If the pumpkins are turning out really small when they turn orange, is this maybe caused by a mineral deficiency to cause the size to not get to where it should be? Is there something you should do in the fertilizer to supplement this and how do you know which one?
It is hard to tell without knowing the details. First, this variety is small size, so don't expect it to turn very big. Second, if the fruits are small and then they drop, it means they were not properly pollinated. But if they are doing fine and just small, then the question is if they are planted in a small container? Sometimes fruits are smaller if roots don't have enough room to grow. For the nutrients, if you used a fertilizer containing balanced NPK and calcium, it shouldn't be a deficiency problem. Hope this helps and thanks for visiting.
I started growing mine ages ago and sadly it seemed to go rotten at the roots and it snapped in half i took out the stump it sadly had no roots but iv stuck it back in a little pot to see if it will revive itself but im not hopeful

Came here to ask about this too! I lost 2 big beautiful sweet pie pumpkin plants within a week of each other due to squash bugs 😭 Trying to garden chemical free is so much harder than I ever imagined.
Sorry to hear that your pumpkins didn't survive. I guess I am the lucky one that don't have this problem but I 've heard that many pumpkin growers have the same issue with the squash bugs. I grow pumpkins, squash, cucumbers, melons but none have had squash bugs. Not for the squash bugs, but for other pest, and if I notice any early presence of them, I either spray neem oil mix or Spinosad mix (both are organic). Another effective way of deterring pests are planting companion plants around your crops such as marigold. I hope next time you will have a better experience and thank you for your comment!

Do you have to keep watering them in their original container? I started mine and they’re still moist (been two weeks). So I’m not sure if I need to keep adding a bit of water. I don’t want to keep them too wet because I have so many gnats around them😭

For gnats, it is critical to take care of two issues. First is the flying gnats. You can use yellow stickers around the seedlings to catch them. But second and most importantly, is their eggs/larvae in the soil that harm the roots and plants. For that the most effective is using Mosquito Bits, which is a biological larvicide. Hi. First, you want to sow 2 seeds for a better chance of germination. Pumpkins have an extensive root system so a pot has only room for 1 seedling to grow. Also because of that, you don't want to transplant both seedlings together; they should be spaced out. And most important is to not disturb the roots. There plants (such as tomato, pepper, eggplant,...) that are ok with separating the seedlings and to pot them on. But some plants, like pumpkins, cucumbers, melons,... are very root-sensitive and by separating the seedlings, the chances are you will damage the roots and lose both of them. I'm currently growing Winter Squash Lakota and Small Pumpkins my seedlings keep turning yellow and dying. My Zone is 7. Also I'm growing summer Squash and I have harvested a few squashes from each plant now the leaves look like their wilting.
If seedlings are turning yellow and dying I am guessing either it is due to "damping off" which is a fungal disease, or something is effecting the roots. I recommend to start in a new seed starting mix and in clean pots. For the wilting if it is due to heat, it is normal, just keep them watered. but if they wilt and die off, maybe it is blight or some sort of a disease. Or maybe it is end of the season? Sorry it is hard to tell without seeing them. Hope you have a better results next time and thank you for getting in touch!

Hey question when the pumpkin sprouted somehow the the leafs cam off with the seed on top and the seed came off but the leafs were in half is that fine can it just regrow?
When pumpkin seeds sprout, they usually pop up with seed shell still attached to the cotyledons or seed leaves. When trying to remove the shell, if the damage to cotyledons are not severe they will recover. I suggest to start new seeds while waiting to see if these will be ok. Did you mix the soil in the bag or the peat moss have to stay on top?

If we where growing against a fence what side should I put it on (south north west east)
Any side that gets 8 hrs of sunlight works. I'd prefer south side or west side of the fence, but definitely not north side of the fence since it will be more shady. Hope this helps and thank you for visiting!
How much space do you need for a mini pumpkins in your garden?

Yes that is normal. They are not "true" leaves and will die off as plant grows.@@SageVVV

Not for spreading purposes, but I trim only dead/damaged leaves here and there. This variety is bush type and doesn't spread like other types. Thank you for visiting!

Hey question when the pumpkin sprouted somehow the the leafs cam off with the seed on top and the seed came off but the leafs were in half is that fine can it just regrow?
When pumpkin seeds sprout, they usually pop up with seed shell still attached to the cotyledons or seed leaves. When trying to remove the shell, if the damage to cotyledons are not severe they will recover. I suggest to start new seeds while waiting to see if these will be ok.
