Lyrics:
I saw the gap again today
While you were begging me to stay
Take care not to make me enter
If I do, we both may disappear
Know that I will choke until I swallow
Choke this infant here before me
What is this but my reflection?
Who am I to judge or strike you down?
But you're pushing and shoving me
Pushing and shoving me
Pushing and shoving me
Pushing and shoving me
Pushing and shoving me
Pushing and shoving me
Pushing and shoving me
Pushing and shoving me
You still love me, you still love me
But you didn't need to push it on me
You still love me, you still love me
But you didn't need to push it on me
Rest your trigger on my finger
Bang my head upon the fault line
You'd better take care not to make me enter
'Cause if I do, we both may disappear
But you're pushing and shoving me
Pushing and shoving me
Pushing and shoving me
Pushing and shoving me
You still love me, you still love me
But you didn't need to push it on me
You're pushing and shoving me
Pushing and shoving me
I'm slipping back into the gap again
I'm alive when you're touching me
Alive when you're shoving me down, yeah
But I'd trade it all for just a little peace of mind
Push it on me
Push it on me
Push it on me
Push it on me
You're pushing and shoving and scrambling
Keep my feet flat on the ground
I am somewhere I don't wanna be, yeah
Push me somewhere I don't wanna be
You put me somewhere I don't wanna be
Seeing someplace I don't wanna see
Never wanna see that place again
Saw that gap again today
While you were begging me to stay
Managed to push myself away
And you, as well, my dear
If when I say I might fade like a sigh if I stay
You minimize my movement anyway
I must persuade you another way
Pushing and shoving
Pushing and shoving, pushing me
There's no love in fear
Yeah, I'm staring down the hole again
Hands are on my back again
Survival is my only friend
Terrified of what may come, yeah
Remember I'll always love you
As I claw your fucking throat away
It will end no other way
It will end no other way
This album was released in October of '96. I was working in a plastics fabrication shop. Everybody got this cd as a Christmas gift from me.
You're an awesome co-worker.
Many of my co-workers did what I did and my friend Miguel did, which was to buy it the day it came out. I think we all perpetuated the idea that it was an album to buy on release. None of us were disappointed and we discussed the album for a month every time we noticed something else that we thought was amazing. What I remember is that none of us were put off by the experimental tracks the way the critics were.
@Jason Graves checked out your pure g playlist....was expecting some good music, just saw a bunch of cheese about Jesus dying on a cross.
Released in '96, and I was 69th to like this.
I got it for Christmas that year. I never even knew it had come out. Tried acid for the first time on New Years Eve right after that and listened to it. I remember a balloon followed me up the stairs to my room and stopped at my feet. The acid was called Felix. Never see good acid anymore.
An all-timer. People don't realize how good we had it in the 90s...
I do a 12 year old who is a fan of tool
"But I'd trade it all for just a little... Peace of MIIIIIIIIND".

That whole passage when Maynard sings the higher register is my favourite part of the song.

When I was 17 I was in a horrible car accident. I lost mobility in my legs and one of my ear drums ruptured. Even though it hurt to listen, I played tool ever hour of the day. I genuinely believe this song healed me. I am now walking around town with my 3 children, feeling better than ever! THANK YOU TOOL

"There's no love in fear", what an amazing line. Hands down my favorite Tool song.
But there is a healthy fear in love.
@@HuelogyNo there isn’t. Fear demands respect, but love coaxes it. I presume you are a theist?
@@bull1085what does that have to do with anything? Should we presume youre an atheist who thinks youre intellectually superior because youre an atheist? Im just saying, thats the vibe you give off. Ive been both and havent changed my views on this so...why would that matter?
@@gbincrevanshaan4198A common belief in Christianity is the concept of fear mongering as a sign of love. It’s saddening to me, as it can lead to harm being done, and a cycle being created.
You’re not wrong, I have a nasty habit of acting like I’m more intelligent than others, despite me trying to claim otherwise. I’ll work on that.
@bull1085 Very introspective and self aware, you're smarter than most in that sense, give yourself a little credit.
Tool performed at my college back in 1996. I remember being extremely excited, none of my friends were fans so I went alone... I met an exchange student that was there as well, she never heard of Tool but she was looking forward to good music. We watched the concert together. At the end, I remember being disappointed that they didn't perform Pushit, it was my favorite song. Anyway, the crowd was thinning out and everyone was leaving. I was going with the exchange student for some drinks when we hear the guitar. I turned around so fast and ran to the stage, holding the exchange students hand. Tool played Pushit and OmG it sounded like heaven. The exchange student was brought to tears... To end my story, me and the exchange student became very fast friends. After the semester we wrote letters and video chatted every day. We were best of friends. told each other everything. Her sister messaged me and told me she had fallen ill. my best friend passed away a few weeks later. that was 5 years ago. Tonight was the first time I could listen to Pushit and not cry. I smiled the whole time. Thanks so much Tool for the beautiful music and for introducing me to the best person I have ever known. ♡♡♡
I've seen Tool 13 times between 2001 and 2011....but I would have given anything to see them back in 1996 when this album first came out, it's by far my favorite album and I've seen some of the set lists from that era and I'm jealous..... I still have never seen H. live and I would have loved to see it
That's such a sad story
Deep. Way deep man.
Hey I lost my best friend 3 years ago to suicide. I'm sorry, and I understand. I cant listen to Blackbird by Alter Bridge w/out getting emotional. Seeing Tool In 2 days. Woot!!!! At age 67, most of my favorite bands over the decades have retired. The beatles, led zeppelin, genesis, pink floyd, Jethro Tull, and rush. Thankfully tool is still around. I just hope I don't have to wait another 14 years before the next album.... don't think I'll make that long.

They took what others have done like the bands you mention and just... extended it. I'm not real young either and they restore my faith in heavy rock.

You’ll be alright, we got you, ol boy
Probably the only band in history with a flawless discography. No bad albums. Not a single bad song. All the music they've created is an absolute masterpiece.
Even the work they've done on the "continuation pieces" such as Mockingbeat, Lipan Conjuring and the others could all become perfect songs.

Drains me, bleeds me
Leaves me cracked and empty
Drags me down like some sweet gravity

I feel like they each song has their cerebral impacts on what parts of consciousness unlocks what based on what you’re personally going through to help reach the an understanding of the soul.

So thankful that they left the comments open on their channel. That’s what tool music is all about. More so than any other band I’ve ever listened to. Personal interpretation. I’m thankful that everyone is able to share theirs
BINGO!!! I will never get back the countless hours I've spent going through every comment on all of Tool's vids. But, ya know what?? The stories I have found there were well worth every second. Some tragic, some uplifting and some that were just off the fuckin chain but all of those stories, those different voices, those distant friends, they all had a familiarity to them and a feeling of unity. I still spend more time than I should going thru comments but they call me and I can't resist. Each and every one is like opening a letter from an old friend that you haven't seen in years and they give me hope that the future may not be as bleak nor as dark as it appears. So, family, keep those letters coming and when I hear that beckoning voice, I will sit here in my little room with a glass of wine and a top shelf pre rolled from the dispensary down the street and I will get lost in your stories and feel at peace with the world.
I was in a relationship like this and every time I hear this song, it heals me. It explains what I can’t. I couldn’t listen to it for a while when I got out of that situation years ago. Now I need to hear it sometimes.

That year I got an electric guitar and so did my best friend (we've been friends 10+ years now). The first song we learned together was Lateralus. We would hang out and jam every moment we could growing up until before you knew it we could play every single one of their songs beginning to end from the E.P. to their newest works. To this very day when we get to visit each other, this is the band we jam of all the music we now know. I owe the band and Maynard so much more than just a thank you for the wonderful music that changed my life and thinking. I owe him a thank you for all the good times I had with my lifelong friend growing up. Tool made my childhood awesome. I'm 25 now and to this day, I still sit down with my guitar and let the music drown everything out moving through me. Re-living all those times vicariously through this art.
That's awsome!!!
Went to see Tool play in London last night. I said to my friend on the way there, I really want them to play Pushit but I know they won't.
They played Pushit! My life is complete! Also the gig was amazing 🤘
Lucky you got to see them, and heard the song you really wanted to.
Ultimately my favorite Tool song of all time love Tool
Perfect song. Perfect album.
Mmmmm! I love it! I've been in love with Tool for 15 years. This is why.
You heard thier live Salival version of this I assume?! 🤔
@@KILLtrOTTcity No, no I have not. This is the first I'm hearing of this!
@@sari-kitty There you go, the whole album. ua-cam.com/play/PLKJFxKSUYtCOKTrUHSRr8XLGYmq3XsyLV.html
Hey Sarah do you have Instagram?
Been a fan since 93 I cant get enough of this 25 year old album
I'm a 302 year old sheep herder from the Isle of Mann, it's a shame that everyone has herd this song and not only me. It's baaaaaaaaaaaahaaaaad
Indeed sir, indeed.

Cocaine is one hell of a drug~ I'm Rick James bitch!!!
Outstanding
I saw is in concert on 3/4/22. My first Tool concert. Their music saved my life when I was at my darkest. This is one of my most favorite songs ever. When they played it I thought I’d die right there. I’m crying again just hearing and thinking about the show. Seeing them was on my bucket list. My abusers said I’d never get clean and I’d see Tool Live but I did and I am!! Tool gave me the strength to finally put a stop to their terror and to change my life. So when I say they saved me I mean that. This song was a huge part of my strength. When he sings “I am somewhere I don’t want be” I felt like they were with me, I wasn’t so alone. That whole verse he wrote for me. I know that’s not true but in a way it is. Then he reminds me “There’s no love in fear”, and he’s right. I saw God at the concert and his name is Maynard James Keenan.
Good for you. I saw them 2 days later on 3/6 for the first time and had very much the same experience as you did. I'm still blown away from the show. I didn't want it to end.
They played this when I saw them in DC. The first time I saw them touring for 10,000 Days, they played Pushit with trippy colors!
He revealed God to you. Maynard is only flesh.
7:49 That melody though.
7:25 THAT RIFF THO
That middle section might be one of the best musical creations ever made, to be fair the whole song is and that ending a pure masterpiece
PIECE OF MINDDD

Last 3 minutes of this song is pure genius…..
The whole Song... from the beginning to the end is pure genius

The lyrics for "Pushit"
I saw the gap again today
While you were begging me to stay
Take care not to make me enter
If I do we both may disappear
You know that I will choke until I swallow
Choke this infant here before me
What is this but my reflection?
Who am I to judge or strike you down?
But you're pushing me shoving me
But you're pushing me shoving me
But you're pushing me shoving me
But you're pushing me shoving me
But you're pushing me shoving me
But you're pushing me shoving me
But you're pushing me shoving me
But you're pushing me shoving me
You still love me
You still love me but you didn't need to shit on me
You still love me
You still love me but you didn't need to shit on me
Rest your trigger on my finger
Bang my head upon the fault line
You'd better take care not to make me enter
'Cause if I do we both may disappear
But you're pushing me shoving me
But you're pushing me shoving me
But you're pushing me shoving me
But you're pushing me shoving me
You still love me, you still love me
She didn't mean to pushit on me.
You're pushing me shoving me
You're pushing me shoving me
I'm slipping back into the gap again
I'm alive when you're touching me
Alive when you're shoving me down, hey
But I'd trade it all for just a little peace of mind
Pushit on me
Pushit on me
Pushit on me
Pushit on me
You're pushing and shoving and scrambling
Keep my feet flat on the ground
I am somewhere I don't wanna be
Push me somewhere I don't wanna be
Put me somewhere I don't wanna be
Seeing someplace I don't wanna see
Never wanna see that place again
Saw that gap again today
While you were begging me to stay
Managed to push myself away
And you, as well, my dear
If when I say I might fade like a sigh if I stay
You minimize my movement anyway
I must persuade you another way
Pushing and shovin'
Pushing and shoving, push at me!
There's no love in fear
Staring down the hole again
Hands are on my back again
Surviving is my only friend
Terrified of what may come
Remember I will always love you
As I claw your fucking throat away
It will end no other way
It will end no other way
Hero
Thanks for sharing
Thank you

It's "push-it on me" not shit on me lmao
The CD case and liner notes that moved were SO DOPE at the time. lol
It still is. Do you see Taylor swift with this shit?
i have the album and agree 100 and it still is the best thing in a album booklet
I still have it..
@@sowelilili what does taylor swift have to do with this conversation, oh yeah nothing, tool is one of my favorite bands but there's a reason why maynard hates all of us, we're so defensive and hostile, like, how dare you insult tool, but I'm allowed to desecrate a whole genre.
Holy crap I forgot about that shit!
GREATEST. BAND. ON. THE. PLANET.
That ending though jeez, killer man, just killer.
Stare down the hall again hands our on my back again survival is my only friend terrified of what may come ..
Adam Jones takes the spotlight in this masterpiece!!
I MUST PERSUADE YOU ANOTHER WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Things like that are the only thing i miss in fear inoculum, maynards old badass screams.
Hell yes! All of their little explosions is why I love them
The amount of emotion in this song is beyond words. The middle section starting at 4:17 feels so dark, hopeless, yet peaceful. Then Adam comes in at 4:53 and brings a fearful tone. At 5:05 the bass brings a sense of hope amidst the realization that the current situation is not working.
How can anyone pick their favorite Tool song?!?
Everytime I try the next song starts and I'm like man!!! This is my favorite Tool song...It is until the next one come on lol
Let this be a lesson on how to sequence playlists
What's your favorite song to hear after pushit?
For those of you wondering, he does say
"You still love me, You still love me,, but you didn't need
To shit on me"
Double and triple checked.
I mean it’s not actual shitting
Maybe he dated Amber Heard? :D
"Remember I will always love you, as I claw your fucking throat away" probably one of the hardest lines in music I have ever heard.
Beautiful words, what an amazing love song
Crawl away is another beautiful love song.😊
Gotta love MJK. Strips naked and screams before running of stage looking like he's having a panic attack. They are so professional and yet such regular guys. My favorite music since I was 12.
The ending is soo well written, the ultimate climax, epic
As great as the Salival version is, it lacks that middle section that this version has. It just doesn't feel the same without that "PEACE OF MIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIND!!!!"
With Tool you need to carefully choose when you listen to their songs. They're long, and you wouldn't want to pause even once. It ruins the flow.
When Tool plays, everything else can pause. The rest can wait. The Rock demands to be played NOW in full, at a volume that far exceeding any standards of safety or sanity.
This song is one in a million. Even amongst Tool songs. A very special place in my conscience it has.
When tool plays, it's either reading/listening to the lyrics or listening to the music.
Personally, listening to both is impossible.
@@schprox Agreed.
You are correct
I love the tone of Adams guitar in this song. It's amazing.
Deftones forever.
In fucking deed....team sleep and Pinback for me too..my favourite bands ever...!
Somewhere out there a version of Tool made a song that just went forever.
Adam jones guitar work is BEYOND OUTSTANDING!!
7:47 There's them chills again
Thanks Tool!!!!!
Holy hell FINALLY!. So hyped!

I start and end my day always with their music, they give me something that no one ever will and it is a beautiful sense of belonging and understanding 🖤. They give me peace of mind.
this song plays SO HEAVY live, such a simple, heavy line
The change at 5 minutes is the beginning of the greatest musical accomplishments in all of music for decades to come.
Adams guitar work is so absolutely stunning in this song.
Tool has gotten me through a lot of shit over the last 20 years. Undertow popped my cherry. This album. Lateralus then back to Opiate. I love their entire catalog. Much respect to some very hard rocking talented musicians.
Since you enjoy Opiate check out "Tool 72826". UA-cam has a pretty good version of it so you don't have to go far. Enjoy!!
This song goes intensely deep. Maynard really shines here.
I’d trade it all for just a little, peace of MIND.
Probably the greatest song ever written. This NEVER EVER gets old! TOOL=TIMELESS
