My favorite of all improvising single line jazzers, and a musical brain like no other.

I saw Bireli play when he was 19 at the Waterworks club in B'ham. Been a fan ever since, and agree with Stochelo that the gypsy revival really began with Bireli and that we will always owe him for that.

He uses repeated downstrokes on the fast descending scale around 0:42 --- that's nearly impossible :O

I'm not kidding I can do that and I also believe it's not something that hard compared to doing fast downstrokes during consecutive string skipping, downstroking during a descending is nothing but typical gypsy styled techique.

Nobody can ever learn it? I don't agree with that, many of us transcribe these guys lines and work them into our own playing. You can learn so much from just watching guys of this calibre, how he swings, how he outlines the changes, notes on his technique. Honestly thats the way to learn to improvise, buy drawing material from the virtuosos, not by practicing scales all day. Not to mention he's a joy to watch.

You can learn easy stuff anywhere.
This is for advanced players to work on.
