Biréli Lagrène is a French guitarist and bassist. He came to prominence in the 1980s for his Django Reinhardt-influenced style on the guitar, as well as for being a jazz fusion virtuoso on the electric guitar. He often performs within the swing, jazz fusion and post-bop mediums.

Biréli in magical form here - forget about it. I wonder what it's like be able to think so fast and intuitively - have such an overdose of timing and technique to let you pull it off relaxed, in that googolplex of a second with time to spare. You either got that monster timing or you aint - Biréli always had it even as a kid - and here he's really on the ball - it's a joy to listen to.
I liked this comment in the past at some point. It rings truer every time I read it. Wish I could double like. 👍👍
OMG here I am again 😂
What a beautiful vibrato!
Comme toujours, magnifique Bireli
Simply superb. The next level in guitar playing! Watching this makes me feel glad to be alive.
Music is life!
Love how he is playing around with the melody..
I was lucky to see Bireli when he was only 16. ( about 1982 ) He came to the Uk with his Trio and played at the Waterworks Jazz Club in Birmingham . Astonishing even then, and my fond illusion & notions that I could play the guitar were given a strong message to start practicing.
He had such an awesome vibe in this one. He caught the flow and just went with it.
LOVE THIS!!! Filled with GREAT lines/phrases, and he sticks to the original melody in a great way. His ending is great too.
Subtle. Picking all the right notes. Not overplaying. Excellent tone. Superior command.
It's just magnificent...
what an awesome performance
Absolutely gorgeous
Awesome. What a player
Brilliant! Gorgeous!
beautiful!
Bireli has become more focused on melody in recent years which gives it a very authentic feel. Bravo! NT
Bireli ogni volta ci sorprende , senza parole !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Genious!
Wonderful!
Beautiful
Awesome as usual. One can learn much by watching closely, breaking things down in sections to learn from a master. Thanks Denis.
Wow ! Inspiring!!
The master!
BRAVISSIMO !!!
Wow!...Bravo!
ENORME DESCOMUNAL SIEMPREEEEEEEEEEE ♥
awesome!!!
Just wondering when you were gunna drop another one from this session Denis, perfect timing. Thanks!
Merci beaucoup!

This man is an operator.

The barroque quotes are superb.
Can't find this song among the catalog.... in which of them can it be find?
Best
what guitar model is this ?
Why it's not a part of the product? I want to buy transcription!
Cest vraiment superbe.... Quel talent! Il me ferait presque avoir une petite larme à l oeil :-)
Ah ah ! Bon Qui veux bien m'apprendre ?! Je suis sérieux ! J'ai quelques base et du temp ...
Did he just quote J.S Bach at 2:30 ? Awesome.
Astute observation, I agree the descending arpeggio to the trill on 3-2 and falling to 1 was Bach like. Passages I hear that are very reminiscent of Bach are 3:14 - 3:20 and 5:33 - 5:45. So brilliant.
@@BMessemer I agree, other me 😊👍
Hard to say whom I prefer, Angelo D. or Birelli L. Just too wonderful.
which guitar is that?
Was this ever transcribed?
😭💥😍
Schukka 👍
When was this recorded?
+Mike Dyer Very recently. Denis had him in the studio a week or two ago I believe.

Groove1993 Selmer Maccaferri perhaps?.
It's a Martin Tremblay guitar from Montreal.

Django had two fingers can you imagine playing all those notes...
Jazz guitar tai chi?
??😉 huh? ❤❤❤🇺🇸🍻
2:14
sue pucking ferb.... NO less....
UFO
balaklavian prime
Technical and tonal without any doubts world class! Im impressed. Hats off.
Not to offend you but for my taste in the improvisation part it has way too much movement, too much action. I'd like it more with more room for some calm between the scales and lines. Because the basic mood of this piece is melancholic. No reason to show off how fast or how many notes per second your able to play.
no
