One of my biggest fears is taking my kids somewhere to have fun and coming home without them. I can't even imagine the guilt and pain. So sorry for this young man and his family.
It truly is heartbreaking he was only 14! 6 foot five around 300 pounds and he played football - could’ve gone pro football, had a good life The amusement park is at fault 100%
After the harness wouldn't fit all the way down to his crouch because of his abdominal mass he should have told his homies see y'all when y'all come down! I understand he wanted to ride and to fit in!
He was just a child at 14. Reading some of these comments, some of you lack empathy. I can't imagine how scared he must have been. May his soul rest in peace, and I pray his family finds peace in their hearts.
14 year olds don't have common sense? Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming the boy (well, not only him), but when he realised that shoulder savety thingy wasn't properly and savely locked, he should have exited the ride right away. I've visited amusement parks when I was a teen a lot. I always made sure I was savely seated and secured before the ride started. Especially on rides like this one. But, I always cared for my life more than the adrenaline kick and peers pressure. I'm a woman tho, so maybe that also makes a big difference. And I'm sure a 14 year old TEEN (he was no kid no more) experiencing such a situation is no different than an adult doing so.
This almost happened to my son at the NC State Fair. He’s 17, 6ft 1 in and 320 Ibs…. He tried to get on a ride and the operator was trying to squeeze him into the ride.. I shouted “ he’s not going to fit sir” over and over again. My son really wanted to ride but I made him get off. Thankfully I was over there at that point and time. My prayers go out to this family!
This is the saddest thing ever. This was preventable. I can’t imagine how traumatic this was for everyone on that ride, let alone his friends and/or family that were there with him. It’s so unfair - he just went to have a fun time. My heart aches for his loved ones.

How was this a freak accident? It was negligence by the ride operators and himself. This could have been avoided if one of the parties acted on the potential risk.

I remember when I almost fell out of a ride. I actually have had a couple close calls. The first time was on a ride called the ring of fire when I was about 9 or 10. The only thing preventing me from falling out of the ride was the fact that it had a roof, which I had the pleasure of head butting mid rotation. They had a lap bar with a large, cylender shaped foam covering that could rotate. So as the ride would go upside down, gravity tried to pull me out of the seat and the lap bar provided no safety and it even activly pulled me from the seat. My dad was also on the ride with me, he was bigger so that didn't help either. I desperately clung to whatever I could, sure I would somehow fully slip out and die if I did not.
Woah woah wait!!!!!! I was on a ride called the ring of fire it’s a giant circle right that goes upside down, and a girl almost fell out of it when I was on the ride, I was about 11-12years old and that happened like in 2008. Was that you?!? Honestly that’ll be wild if that was you cause I remember everything and your story is literally to a T of what I remember
Great memory man on the ring of fire. That ride is still at a local county fair as of last year. Yea, if it was not enclosed I am sure there would of been many accidents on that ride. Those "Carny" people put up and take those rides down super quick and off to the next town.
Something similar happened to me too, when I was 9 I went on the Indiana Jones rode at Disneyland. At the time all the cart had was a lap bar. I rode with my dad, obviously a bigger person, so the lap bar wasn’t as snug as it could have been (and I was rather small for my age). During the ride, as it got faster and more jolty, i could feel myself lifting from the seat and I could have easily just slip out, if it wasn’t for my dad slinging his arm over my shoulders to hold me down. I didn’t pay attention to what was going on in the ride, I was just too scared about falling out. I don’t know what the ride is like now since I haven’t been on it since but I’ll never forget the feeling of nearly falling out of a ride.
He never should’ve been on that ride. The safety bar couldn’t come down far enough to keep him safely in his seat. Not his fault, he was a child and the people running the ride said it was fine. But it’s devastating and so senseless. It also seems like common sense, but I guess that’s not so common anymore.
I've only went on a ride like this once, in Denmark, but almost all rides I've been on you could hear a click when the safety bar locked in. I'm pretty sure his never locked in at all. Also, do they not have staff to check each safety bar before take-off?
In the photo shown at the 1:07 time stamp, the restraint is OBVIOUSLY at an angle. How could it have been in the locked position?? Look where the bottom of the restraint is on Tyree compared to the fellows next to him. Tyree fell out feet first. He could not possibly have been secured in that seat.
I think you might be right. I've been on these types of rides before and those things usually stay down if they're all the way down. For that guy, it really didn't seem secure enough.

Unfortunately he probably was, but it was the operator’s responsibility to know and clearly state the rides limitation. If simple things like elevators do so should this, the park is at fault.
While I agree it should be the operator's responsibility to follow the ride's guidelines and rules, there isn't a weight limit for the ride in the US. The operator wasn't at fault here. The government needs to step-up and regulate amusement rides.
To play devil's advocate, the park was following the instructions from the rides manufacturer which gave no weight limit, according to this article. So on paper the park didn't do anything wrong. Clearly there was some limit that was exceeded. My uneducated guess, but being 6'5" probably had as much to do with it as his weight. Poor kid, he was way too young.
You must not hear correctly lol There isnt a weight limit for them to enforce And sounds like he put his harness on wrong himself Seems to be personal error not ride operator error It's sad But being that big And being turned away from other rides He should of considered the personal risk being that size and going on rides
Good point. Elevators always state maximum weight capacity. And restaurants usually state maximum number of people capacity. Signage stating limitations or capacity is not a new concept. I hope amusement parks learn from this. It’s not that hard to implement.

Enh the weight thing can and can't be blamed on the parents, it could be an underlying medical condition that prevents weight loss, could be due to his height, lots of things over just unhealthy eating habits. BUT they should've been there and said something when the harness was visibly in a different position from the others, especially after being turned away from other rides. As long as the harness locks in place the ride operators typically won't say anything, especially in the present climate. They could be seen as discrimination because he's black and overweight. Tragedy all the way around but this is ultimately on the parents.
This tragedy was avoidable. Just seeing the picture on TV, one can reasonably say that he should have been restricted from the ride. In addition, manufacturers' instructions also WARNED about the weight restrictions! Condolences to the family.

I don't understand this at all, if the bar was down and locked ,how was he able to come out of his seat? It looked to me , like he kind of sled out of the bottom of his seat . Why was there a space underneath the bars large enough for someone his size to slide out? Something wasn't right, if the ride won't work ,if someone is not locked in , they should have had an harness too. @@anitagoston2747 usually, gets locked down low enough to secure your entire upper body so you can't really get out even if you tried. but since he was so big, the bar couldn't go down the full way, locking in a spot which left enough room for him to just slide out since a good half of his body was barely secured in the first place. This is like putting a loop over your neck and calling it a day, vs the actual requirement which is to have the full upper body essentially strapped to the seat. and there wasn't an extra seatbelt to lock the bar to the seat which made it possible for him to just slip out. for regular sized person, this wouldn't happen. for a smaller sized person, they wouldn't be able to get in because of the height limit but yeah if they did get through, the same thing would happen Edit: to better explain, as far as i understand, the bar came down at a slanted angle since they couldn't buckle it further to have it perpendicular to the seat. Whereas normally, your belly fat+the angle it's holding you at would make it impossible to slide out, the seatbelt couldn't even get over his belly (maybe 1: bc of his belly fat and 2: because his shoulders were in the way so it couldn't twist any further) so all that had to slide out was his thinner upper body/head. so when there was enough force shaking him around, probably nothing could stop him unless he held on for dear life.
In a similiar accident with a rollercoaster they explained that fat moves like water. So with the force the fat moved and the bar didn't hold him anymore, so he slipped out

This happened to me on the Pirate Ship that would swing up and back down.I was pretty little as a teenager 4'8 87 lbs and id have to hold on for dear life when I got to the top as nothing was holding me in but my arms holding on to the bar that was chest high on me .
My grandma did the same to me when I was nine. She had to hold me in cause when the ride started I was slipping under the bar. She held on for dear life we were both terrified. My mom saw something was wrong she tried to get the employee to stop it. He said he couldn't stop the ride it had to finish its course.
I remember being on a small wooden roller coaster with my littler sister, and after the drop there was a curve that was too close to the ground and I had to hold my sister close to me because I could see her almost falling out and hitting the ground
Even looking at the photo of him strapped in for a few seconds I can tell that his shoulder harness isn’t engaged. It’s just not far down enough to be clicked all the way. If I can see that he wasn’t strapped in, the operators definitely should’ve seen it.
The 30 degree tilting feature caused him to come out of the ride through the gap between the harness and the seat. The harness was locked and stayed locked, but wasn't down on his legs as it should've been.
I’m seeing a lot of comments saying that the kid should’ve known better which is true however it’s the operators job to prevent this and they didn’t try to stop him when he got on or even bothered to check
I understand being a kid wanting to have fun and ride rides but this ride should have hurt his feelings possibly by saying your to big to ride he would still be here if they just said no you can't ride
@@orbitalpotato9940 the reason I said that is I've seen the pictures where his seats chest thing was up way higher then the rest of the riders even if it was cuz of size then that should tell you it's probably not safe
I work at Busch Gardens, a theme park a town over, and I was talking with some coworkers about the incident, since one of my friend's (who also works at the park) friend was the guy who checked the seats. Apparently, how they did it was super out of protocol, and he was above the chest diameter limit to ride ( we don't have weight restrictions, but chest diameter to make sure the harness fits securely). Its super tragic, my heart goes out to the family.
I honestly love Busch Gardens. That park is like a home to me when we flew in to Orlando every year.I couldn’t imagine something like this happening on Falcons Fury…
How did he fall out if his seat was still intact & in place when the ride was over? How can someone that size squeeze out of that seat when he looked wat too big 😊😊8y😊😊😊hy
Can't believe that it's been a year since this happened. I pray that all families that lose their family members throughout accidents and murders or anything else will have the best remain of their life.
Yes, he was too heavy to ride! The weight limit per the manufacturer's manual is 286 pounds. His father said Tyre was 6'5" tall and weighed 340 pounds. He shouldn't have been allowed on the ride. The ride attendants need to follow the rules. All shoulder harnesses must be checked. A weight scale should be in front of the ride. Seatbelts should be added.
After watching the footage( because I wanted to know what exactly occurred step by step) I realized that he didn’t fall as soon as the ride dropped he fell once the break run occurred which most likely sadly threw him out of the ride at full force :/ so he was secured in the ride until the break run ejected him.
If he was secured in the ride he wouldn’t have slipped from it. The strength of the metal bar exceeds the force of a 300 pound human falling. Even if he was 600 pounds, that metal bar shouldn’t move.
What we aren’t going to do is blame HIS SIZE for the incident, but rather blame the ride operator who did not safety check the harnesses or turn him away due to his size for this exact situation to not occur. It’s sad and disgusting how this is all blamed on the malfunctioning of the ride or his weight, when ultimately the blame is on the operator.
He should have known better after he got rejected from two rides already. When he's that size, he definitely should have realized by that point it was unsafe as well. I am not saying it was his fault, but he should have expected it by that point
I fell from a roof and I'll tell you, it's like you're moving in slow motion and you want it to stop. This poor kid had have been freaking out on his way down. Rest his soul.

I love carnivals, I’ve loved them since I was little. I’ve never ridden that particular ride, because I’ve always had a slight fear of extreme heights, and that sudden drop looked to be too much for me. But seeing that devastating video… how sad. I can just imagine how it looked to that young man to be released from his safety seatbelt and be suspended in air for that few seconds before plummeting down.. in that moment, I’m sure he knew he wouldn’t make it. That feeling of shock, horror, and doom… that happened so quickly, he didn’t even have time to process all those emotions before he was just gone. This truly is heartbreaking to see. My deepest condolences to his family, I hope they sue the life out of that carnival and/or the ride owners. RIP.
I read on another video that he had fainted like a lot of people do on those types of rides. So when the harness didn't go all the way and secure the pelvic area, and when he fainted he let go of the hand bars too, so he slipped right out. I pray it's true and he was passed out and never knew a thing.
I remember I went to Universal Studios a while back with my friends after graduating. There were a few people who were disrespectful to the staff due to the fact they couldn't get on a certain ride. They caused a big scene until a Supervisor had to come and remove them from the area. Now you do see signs about the height/weight limit. But some people ignore it and think they're entitled to ride anything just because they spent money to enjoy a good time. In this case it's sad because a life was lost.
So true. Last time I went to Universal Orlando I was waiting in line for Rip Ride Rockit and had to watch an employee try to get the safety constraint to lock for this obese girl. It didn’t click so they had to tell her to get off. I can tell you now if they let her stay on the ride anyway, she would’ve plummeted 167 feet on the first drop.

I lack empathy for the ones who oversaw the ride’s functionality, not the kid who was given permission to do something.

This is one of the worst stories I've ever heard. I feel horrible for him, his family and everyone at the park who witnessed this. I can't imagine how scared he was when he was slipping out of his seat. That must've been terrifying. May he rest in peace and my heart goes out to his family. Glad the ride is shut down. He didn't deserve to have this happen to him.
@@Jtough278 that would be cool if it was them
Me too dear I almost fell out of it too😭
Something similar happened to me too, when I was 9 I went on the Indiana Jones rode at Disneyland.
That’s exactly it. The safety bar did not come down far enough to secure him.
I've only went on a ride like this once, in Denmark, but almost all rides I've been on you could hear a click when the safety bar locked in. I'm pretty sure his never locked in at all. Also, do they not have staff to check each safety bar before take-off?
@@robertlinder8464 They claimed that they checked. But there's no way, because you can see that it was not secured on him properly.
For that guy, it really didn't seem secure enough.
yeah, the top wasnt even touching his shoulders which means the portion that goes between your legs to lock is not secured.
If the worker would've stopped talking with the other riders he would've checked his side it was obvious that his restraint wasn't fully secured compared to his friends
Yes, the angle of the restraint looks like it give a lot of space for someone to slip out of the bottom as the picture shows.

It was locked in position ( apparently)
I don't understand this at all, if the bar was down and locked ,how was he able to come out of his seat? It looked to me , like he kind of sled out of the bottom of his seat . Why was there a space underneath the bars large enough for someone his size to slide out? Something wasn't right, if the ride won't work ,if someone is not locked in , they should have had an harness too. I know he was too large for the ride and they shouldn't have let him get on in the first place. I'm surprised but grateful that this hasn't happened to a smaller person . @@anitagoston2747 usually, gets locked down low enough to secure your entire upper body so you can't really get out even if you tried. but since he was so big, the bar couldn't go down the full way, locking in a spot which left enough room for him to just slide out since a good half of his body was barely secured in the first place. This is like putting a loop over your neck and calling it a day, vs the actual requirement which is to have the full upper body essentially strapped to the seat. and there wasn't an extra seatbelt to lock the bar to the seat which made it possible for him to just slip out. for regular sized person, this wouldn't happen. for a smaller sized person, they wouldn't be able to get in because of the height limit but yeah if they did get through, the same thing would happen
Edit: to better explain, as far as i understand, the bar came down at a slanted angle since they couldn't buckle it further to have it perpendicular to the seat.

That’s what’s supposed to happen
Thank goodness they told you that.
Why would you knowingly try to get on?
I’m seeing a lot of comments saying that the kid should’ve known better which is true however it’s the operators job to prevent this and they didn’t try to stop him when he got on or even bothered to check
I understand being a kid wanting to have fun and ride rides but this ride should have hurt his feelings possibly by saying your to big to ride he would still be here if they just said no you can't ride
well, they don't know how big or heavy. There's no weight limit regulation.
@@orbitalpotato9940 there can be
@@orbitalpotato9940 there could be, he was turned down two other rides
@@orbitalpotato9940 the reason I said that is I've seen the pictures where his seats chest thing was up way higher then the rest of the riders even if it was cuz of size then that should tell you it's probably not safe
He's still a kid. It's this rides operator who is at fault for letting him on the ride.
How can someone that size squeeze out of that seat when he looked wat too big 😊😊8y😊😊😊hy
damn- I know this is really rare & unlikely but whenever I go to a ride this is my biggest fear, this was really tragic, prayers to his family.
Well they clearly told that in the USA there is no legal weight limit, in Europe there is tho.
A seat belt wouldn’t have stopped g forces at that weight, unfortunately
@@toughntiny it look like the harness isnt on his body.
He likely slip out between the seat and the harness.
@@joebidenisyourpresidentget2481
Exactly. You’re right. Because he should not of been allowed to ride because he wasn’t secured properly. :(
At least he died fast
If they say the harness didn’t fail, then the only other possibility is the seat broke just enough to slip through
@@philelmo the seat didn't break, the gap between the harness and the seat was huge. It was enough for him to slip through most likely
"The ride wont function if it detects one of the seats were not latched." You need to watch and listen before commenting
Hey, how about if he WASN'T let on the operator and the park would have been CANCELLED by social justice warrior? Ever thought of that?

RIP.
It’s not a carnival it’s a park
Shut up
I can not even IMAGINE the terror everyone, let alone his family and friends felt when this happened. My condolences go to his family ❤ Rest in peace Tyre💞💞

"If he was my friend, I would not have let him get on that ride." To me it's very obvious that his Big Body type had no business being on that ride. You clamp him in a seatbelt that is not built for that type of Giant. His own body weight forced him out of his seat and out of the seatbelt. Terrible way to die.
Facts, the harness looked wild loose, wtf!!! Who sits there and let’s him go on it when it was obvious that it wasn’t secure like everyone else
His friends’s parents who were chaperoning them should have intervened and said “no” to Tyre.
but you can see clearly in that picture there is more than enough room for him to fly right out the bottom and they're not stupid they know how fast it goes
@@AmicusAdastra The manufacturer decided that no secondary seat belt was necessary.
His friends were teens and likely trusted the operator
Wow, that’s so sad.. he had a lot of potential in football with that size too. It’s a damn shame, may he RIP 🌹
its immoral and unhealthy. his weight killed him
We don't know that! He could have transition another way before sixteen!
When you get to certain sizes, be it height or weight you have to recognize that you're outside the average design size of the world. And ride operators for these kinds of rides should recognize when the equipment is telling them it can't quite work, that photo is sending up red flags.
Yes, but at 14 you're just a kid that wants to have fun. Many don't fully understand the consequences. An adult should have intervened. It sucks when you're bigger than you should be as a kid. I've been there & no one helps you. They just leave you to figure it out on your own later. I can't blame him for wanting to find at least one he can ride.
@@inactiveaccount6106 Then have a competent ride operator ready to reject him.
@@inactiveaccount6106 The kid was not at fault at all. The operator failed to check to make sure everyone is secured in place and or turn him away for being unfit for the ride due to his size.
@@edwink1467 but what if the kid's friend film the denial, post on social media and then the operator lose his job? I feel like anywhere else other than America, that "should have turned down" theory would have worked, but anything that "harms people's feeling" is just not tolerable here.
