Border collies are amazing at judging things too. I was playing frisbee with my Border Collie Shilo and I threw the frisbee into the wind. Shilo instantly figured out which way the wind was blowing, ran in the opposite direction of where I threw the frisbee, sat down and waited. When the frisbee hit the wind and blew back it went exactly to where Shilo was sitting. He just sat there waiting and just jumped up from his sitting position and caught it. He knew the wind would take the frisbee and where it would go.
I'm so happy to see the border collies at #1. I was blessed with a border collie/Aussie mix who breezed through basic obedience training in about two days. They really are smart dogs and just super companions.
I'm teaching my border collie to read and write. I hope to send him to kindergarten soon. Already young kids in our neighborhood are envious and worry about him competing with them in the classroom.
Hey! Me, too! But I'm not kidding when I say my German Ridgeback is extremely intelligent. Not to mention loyal, loving, protective and beautiful. I love my Boston Terriers but my Copper (my German Ridgeback's name) is the most exceptional animal I've ever seen. Peace!🐶
I love all the dogs that u showed,,,,,my dog is a mixed is half Australia n and pit bull,. She is very smart,,, she guard be me all the time, her name is mancha,,,,
5610winston I have a Norwegian Elkhound mix. I know about the Elkhound. I believe he is mixed with a black lab because he is almost all black except for a white patch on his chest, his goatee, some brown around his ears, and the cause of his nickname, silver buns.
Australian Cattle Dog should be higher on the list. I've owned a variety of dogs for 60 years and my Blue Heeler is the smartest thing on four legs. She learned how to spell the words we didn't want to say in front of her so we started saying those things in Spanish and she has picked up on that! They aren't the most cuddly of dogs but loyal and faithful to the bone. I was very ill and in the bed for five years and this dog did not leave me. She went outside to take care of her business and to eat, but then right back beside me. Could not ask for a finer animal.
Nancy Bennett , I have a Blue Heeler that will charge the television if a dog is on the screen. She's recently picked up on dog food (among others) tv commercial background music and will wait for dogs to appear. This sounds cute, until you realize how many dogs are on the tube.
Nancy you are 100% correct I too owned a ACD aka blue healer and next to the border collie the two breeds are by far the most intelligent breeds out there my dog as well was the most faithful and loyal as well got him at 10wks old he went everywhere with me was so well behaved he even went to work with me and nobody disapproved everyone who met him loved him he was raised to be gentle around people and would entertain the smallest of children by playing fetch with his favorite toy a tennis ball even with his gentleness with children and people he was also very protective if anything man or animal was a threat of harm he would attack to protect a bred trait not mentioned in the video he is sadly missed
I don't think it is strictly the breed. A dog that is not considered an especially intelligent breed can still produce an individual animal that is far more intelligent that breeds considered smarter than it.
Old English Mastiff!!!! I've had dogs in my family since I was an infant. For my birthday three years ago my husband brought home an 11 week old English mastiff my children named her Bella and she has become an absolute joy to the entire family since I am home with her while the kids are in school and my husbands at work she has bonded with me like superglue. I cannot believe the things I have seen Bella do. I speak to her like another human being and have done so since she was a baby/puppy. I don't know if that has anything to do with her current incredible level of intelligence but I can rattle off a three sentence request and she will comply as if she were another human being. I adored all breeds of dogs they are wonderful and we are very blessed that 10 to 15,000 years ago a somewhat docile wolf hung around the outside of our caves in order to access scraps from our meals. I never expected this beautiful mastiff to also be incredible I have no idea if she is an outlier in other words a fluke and maybe just a genius in her breed as I have never had another Mastiff. As I said earlier she has brought our entire family so much fun and delight... it's easy to love a dog when they are so easy to train understand everything you say and comply with your wishes in my 40 something years of life the only dog I had before Bella who was even close to her level of cognitive brilliance was a wonderful might who was half German Shepherd and half lab the latter part was the closest that our vet could guess but it was undeniable that she had a lot of shepherd in her she was a very smart dog yet nothing like this incredible mastiff call we are so lucky to currently have. My husband always wanted a mastiff just because of the size of the dog to be honest with you I was not thrilled when he brought a puppy home because I always assumed that they were just dumb drooling Giants. Well I had to retract all of my previous ignorant thoughts as Bella has shown me that intelligence can pop up in any breed even if they're not particularly known for it and also they drool only a moderate amount when bred a certain way. Bella is a low drool , fluffy coat Mastiff. The first thing I noticed about her was that her coat was so thick even though it's not long it's very thick... I called the breeder and he told me that wasn't a mistake and explained about the genetic link between the fluffy coat and Less drool. Anyway I guess I just wanted to add this because it's important to go with your heart and get a puppy that fits your family just like humans dogs are individuals and even in a breed not known for high intelligence you could run across a genius every once in a while !!
Did you determine this "smart" based on trainability? Because I think my dogs are smart, but highly independent. They'll figure out their own way of doing things & argue with me when I try to tell them otherwise. Apparently that's sort of a wolf trait.
Nope. It is also done using problem solving skills. So they set up tasks that each dog hasn't done before, and see how long they take to solve it. But the person who created this list i doubt ever did any actual research.
Yeah just like Huskies and Beagles. Both are known to be smart but extremely stubborn and independent which is why we dont usually see them in these lists.
+Chris cross if the vizla isn't trained then yes it's stupid, the owners make it smart, if the owners r bad, the dog is stupid, if properly trained, it will become smart
My buddy Midnight was a mix between an Australian cattle dog and a Border collie. He was the smartest dog I've ever seen. He was so sweet. Last year, on a cold night on January 20th, he was hit by a red truck. R.I.P, Midnight.
Where's my kelpie? We had a corgi and I can tell you right now, that he wasn't the brightest. Our Jack Russell x fox terrier was immeasurably smarter, and better natured.
+Amanda Vadon Do not laugh. A stupid dog is the best dog for most of us. Most of us do not have the time or space to provide mental stimulation for a smart dog. It finds ways to entertain itself, and those ways are often destructive.
+Jean on the Road lol my dipshit dad gets a bordercollie thinking it would be fun. guess who works 32 hours a week and spends another 32 with my dog lmfao.
+Amanda Vadon I have two dogs and when the fence broke one of them tried to run away but the Australian cattle dog actually herded the other back home. It was amazing. Didn't even train her to do that, it's pure instinct.
Believe it or not, one of our neighbors has a collie that tries to herd our flock of guennie hens every time she gets bored. And if you've ever had guennies, you KNOW how next to impossible that is! Seriously, they don't give that dog enough to do!
A whippet was by far the smartest dog I ever owned (or had any dealings with). I've had two on this list, Cocker & Lab, neither very bright. Not only did he learn fast such as learning to sit, give a paw & stay within hours of settling into the family home at 12 weeks he also learned how to open doors (including his latched cage) on his own. He could find it's way home (including leading the way home off lead/leash to holiday homes returning to the car in new locations etc). He learnt lots of commands both speech & visual with the kids. The most impressive to me though was always how he would act with very young children. He liked to play rough with older kids (sharing a house with four teenagers) but was always so gentle & patient around toddlers. Unfortunately for us, he suffered from separation anxiety so when our situation changed & there wasn't somebody at home most of the time he became very stressed & he had to go to a home more suited for him.
Technically "pit bull" isn't a recognized breed in many official kennel clubs. You're most likely thinking about the American Staffordshire Terrier, Bull terrier, or the English Bull Terrier :)
Our standard poodles are brilliant, they understand two languages and you only have to show them something once, and they get it. Non shedding, non drooling, extremely loyal, powerful, agile, and super connected to people. Definitely not sissies.
I've only ever seen boxers on the "not so smart" list. And having had 4 boxers in my life, I have to admit that they are dumb as bricks when compared to actual smart dogs lol
I'm sure they are all incredibly intelligent, but I think the Ridgeback steals top prize. Intelligent enough to save me from a police dog almost killing me when I was a child. I had been left in the house by my friends policeman father, with the huge German Shepherd in the kitchen and a baby gate separating him from me. Almost immediately it jumped thr gate and got ready to attack, but I was lucky enough to have the family dog which knew me in the room. She jumped in between me and the GS and faced it down, giving me enough time to slip out another door behind me. I have no doubt she saved my life, and she was so intelligent to understand the situation and step in to protect me.
@voodoochild346 Shut the fuck up, You hate them because their "dangerous" even though they were made dangerous by PEOPLE. How about you take your ass somewhere else with your bullshit?
Toxic Plays MC Ours was not smart. Not at all. Very high energy, too. We finally had to give him back to my uncle in Kentucky, were he became an active member of a hunting pack. The only things that dog could do were follow a scent and run. Hunting and working breeds are not good unless you can give them the exercise they need, no matter how dumb they are.
This list is so not true, belgian sheep dog are nr 1 and weimaraners are nr 2 most intelligent dogs. And many of the dogs on this list are not very smart.
+TheNamesJonny They are very smart dogs, I'm not saying they aren't, but they have the reputation of being stubborn and only listening to their owners when A) they feel like it or B) there's something in it for them
I also have a husky and I can assure you that they are extremely stubborn. To me they definitely should be on the list because being smart but stubborn shouldn't change that. Either way my husky always finds ways to do things I thought were impossible by dogs such as singing and actually calling specific people's names to play with or for that person to take him out.
According to most studies, the Border Collie, Doberman P, Poodie, and German Sheppard are always in top 4. So I say this list is slightly off with the Golden in there.
Goldens are in the list because they are 'trainable'... not because they are smart... hard to train but very intelligent dogs like Jack Russell Terriers, Dalmatians, Dachshund aren't on the list.
I had a Cocker Spaniel once and he was dumb as a box of rocks (he was grown when I got him). OTOH, I have a Chihuahua (who is generally NOT known for "smarts"). This is the single smartest dog I have ever met. In my opinion, I think the smartness of a dog is really measured by the owner's love and patience.
My border collie only knows a hand full of phrases "Do you want a treat" "Give me a cuddle" "Kiss" (touches nose) "Good girl" "Love you" "Walkies" "Din dins" And wannabe play fetch
as for your comment about greyhounds........... they have compassion ! Im in a wheelchair permanent... my friends took me to Petsmart to get some stuff for my dog.. while in there this greyhound with a perfect shaped white heart at the end of his nose pulled his owner toward me and lay his big head on my shoulder and hugged me tight around the neck with his head... that was the best hug Ive ever had
@@emspumpkin5086 I have two Cocker Spaniels they are stubborn around anyone except people they know. They hate kids, every kid but me. Besides that they are very sweet and I love them
Weimaraners should be #1! My soul breed! My favorite breed next to the Pit, which doesn't surprise me didn't make the list! Such hatred and prejudice because of man!
avinish tiwary huskies are dumb as fuck in traing. They may be very intelligent but they are independent. They do not like training and commands at all
So? DId you think you were in a private message conversation? No. This is a public comment section. Don't call someone dumb if you can't precieve that or read a sentence properly.
Reporting me for hate speech? Did you forget your previous comments (Which it appears you deleted) featuring vulgar insults? And no, I don't work for youtube, and that is a really weird question lmao.
Bari Naiem very true. I had one that was a quarter wolf and that dog was ingenious. He’s watch us open doors and figure it out. Almost smart as our Doberman
@@oli4442 You are correct about SH. I have found this in my research as well. Our neighbors finally gave theirs to another family for that reason. He kept running away. He was so beautiful, but he was just too stubborn and seemed kind of, well, I won't say dumb. He was a bit of a nut job, though. LOL He was cute and would speak loudly in what sounded like words. Those were his best traits. But he was just so much work for them. Often, they just have that call of the wild in them and as a result are usually escape artists.
@@oli4442 Just because they're stubborn doesn't mean they're stupid. They're a little too smart I'd say. Growing up we had a Siberian husky/German Shepherd. She used to jump the fence (which was pretty high I might add) and go to a near by dog park. This was about 8 months after we got her that she started doing that. There are quite a few of trails to get to the park so the fact that she learned it that fast was remarkable. Then after searching for her we'd come back home and there she was waiting at the front door looking guilty as sin. I miss that little trouble maker. Anyways, don't think they aren't smart because after owning one if you actually take care of them and give them lots of physical and mental exercise, they will be in their element. They're just really stubborn, that's classic husky though.
Pommeranians are stubborn, loud, lovable, cuddly, sweet, annoying, obnoxious, weird, caring, concerned, wanting, demanding, and above all wonderful. And, I miss mine so much. He was by greatest friend when I was feeling down. He also knew how to get under my skin and get on my nerves at times. However, if you want a small, friendly, sweet little ball of fluff that will live for an extremely long time and bring you a great deal of joy despite how yappy they are, Pomeranians are wonderful dogs. The smaller ones are also purse puppies for the people who like to bring their dogs everywhere. Mine was on the larger end. He also lived for 19 years. The roughest part is that they are prone to arthritis, cataracts, collapsing trachea, a loss of bowl and bladder control, and a handful of other health problems later in life. They also get to a point where they can have seasonal allergies. I truly think mine developed them because I have them. He only started getting them later in life, but they do say that dogs take on the traits of their owners. I just didn't dream that that would include literally becoming me in the spring. But, if you can handle all of that, you've got a loving companion who cares about you for their entire life.
Go ahead and hate me..a border collie showed up at our place; I named him Pretty Boy. We had other dogs, he quickly set out to be #1. Not fighting, just being Boss. My family talked me into taking him off. I chose a place with lots of Kid traffic, $$$, etc. A year later, he was back. This time I took him to the ASPCA. Wherever you are, Pretty Boy, I hope...
+schweddy balls Amazing dogs!!! I may just get one, because I am almost 1 and a half years looking for a companion, but somehow the plan doesn't get together. The blue eyed Huskies are SO beautiful!
Darn straight! The Belgian Malinois is amazing! They are used by military and law enforcement and from things I have seen and read, they have more stamina than German Shepherds and are every bit as intelligent. This list was f*cked. It seems all these lists are different depending on who posts them. Therefore invalid...
Carolyn Colebeck labs are a dumb smart. I have two. They have a very “dog” personality with very little wish to do anything but please. My husky is in between. My American Eskimo has what I call a “people” personality because he will listen, but he will make it clear he is not happy about it by taking his sweet time to do it or he will literally sigh in discontent for the command. He communicates what he wants incredibly well through body language. I think that shows some basic ability for him to think for himself, giving the dog a little more individuality to the dog
the smartest dog i ever knew was my first service dog. she trained herself to do things for me. she was a mix of a shar pei and jack russell terrier. she was amazing!!
My GSP has quite a considerable word recognizable vocab. Don't Know if he understands everything, but the other day we were in the garage and I said, " do you want to go in the boat? " He ran to the door and I let him out. He ran down to the dock and jumped into the boat. He loves boat rides. He an awesome dog. Great hunter too.
Story time: So my friend had two corgis (Jake and Jackie) growing up, and whenever I spent the weekend at his house, we would walk them in the morning. Well, one day as we were walking them, this elderly lady came up to us and said "Oh those are some really cute corg welshies." Still makes le laugh to this day. ~Mike
@Every Day Survival I can assure you the Akita can survive better on its own in the wild than most breeds in the above video's list. The Akita, compared to your perceived take on canine intelligence, is a genius.

The ACD is the smartest mostly because they have the most current work history, in there DNA. its really as simple as that.

It’s insane that the Arabian Dog/Saluki have been executed from this list.
@@UnknownUser.ar1 Saluki's aren't very smart.
@@charlenehernandez8546 dashounds aren't very smart.
Don't mess with Collies, ours managed to herd people! No joke. No commands needed she just got everyone to the same spot.
You just made my day!! xD
Glad to help pall! :)
Awww. I don't know whether to think that's hilarious or adorable. Former border collie owner here.
Believe it or not, one of our neighbors has a collie that tries to herd our flock of guennie hens every time she gets bored. And if you've ever had guennies, you KNOW how next to impossible that is! Seriously, they don't give that dog enough to do!
And what do poodles (which are a ruined breed by the way) have to do with herding collies? Do you have enough to do?
Rhodesian Ridgeback should be on here. Smartest dog I've ever seen!
Super smart. Mine talked too.
Cool, I have a Weimaraner
Mad Doggo _ me too
Wonderful video Thank you very much 👍 👏
how about jack russell terriers? they should be included on this lists
Even I they aren't on the list, I still love pitbulls
yeees! Was so hoping theyd make the list
peace lover its my favorite but U know the reputation, he just watched me and acted accordingly Miss him so much
Technically "pit bull" isn't a recognized breed in many official kennel clubs. You're most likely thinking about the American Staffordshire Terrier, Bull terrier, or the English Bull Terrier :)
sr ud find putbulls under most aggressive
+Bryan Villegas aggressive and protective are totally different
Our standard poodles are brilliant, they understand two languages and you only have to show them something once, and they get it. Non shedding, non drooling, extremely loyal, powerful, agile, and super connected to people. Definitely not sissies.
Hello beautiful
Boxer is usually among the top rated... I also miss the Xoloitzquintle on this list, not very common breed but extremely intelligent.
I've only ever seen boxers on the "not so smart" list. And having had 4 boxers in my life, I have to admit that they are dumb as bricks when compared to actual smart dogs lol
My Norwegian Elkhound is so smart, when the sign says WET FLOOR, he does.
I am an American Staffordshire Terrier and I am the smartest dog on my block.
No one can beat your ability to hunt and kill small kids!
@foxy lady I hope you're joking.
@foxy lady You're a degenerate, beastiality bitch who breed then.
@voodoochild346 Shut the fuck up, You hate them because their "dangerous" even though they were made dangerous by PEOPLE. How about you take your ass somewhere else with your bullshit?
OfficialNuk3rClan it was a joke you have anger issues
I thought I would see Jack Russell terrier on the list.😢
Here he is :) and Suddenly my GSP was among top 10 as well :) The smartest dogs according to veterinarians ua-cam.com/video/U0P8G_L1hQE/v-deo.html
Thanks alot for the informative video
I’ve had three boxers...very intelligent breed. Also have a Catahoula leopard, one of the brightest dogs I’ve ever met.
wait what i dont see a boxer but i do see a rotwiller my boxer is pretty smart
Hi.. what size are the Australia cattle dogs compared to the size of another dog so I have an idea. Thank you
the part about Weim's being energetic is true!I have two weims of my own.
Hello beautiful,how are you doing
No Jack Russell?? oh come on
I’ve had Doberman Pinschers my whole life-they by far are the most intelligent
, trainable and loyal breed I’ve ever met. ❤️
Hello beautiful, how are you doing
I thought the Beagle would be here ;-; sorry Freckles xD
Freckles forgives you. ~Mike
+list25 yay
+Toxic Plays MC We had a beagle. Loving and sweet. Dumbest animal on 4 legs.
+Jean on the Road I read they were smart though xD
Toxic Plays MC Ours was not smart. Not at all. Very high energy, too. We finally had to give him back to my uncle in Kentucky, were he became an active member of a hunting pack. The only things that dog could do were follow a scent and run. Hunting and working breeds are not good unless you can give them the exercise they need, no matter how dumb they are.
This list is so not true, belgian sheep dog are nr 1 and weimaraners are nr 2 most intelligent dogs.
And many of the dogs on this list are not very smart.
Christian Thomsen Rottweilers are smart and don’t fight with me on this
Christian Thomsen no border collies are the smartest
Your just mad your dogs where not first

Hello beautiful
What about the Alaskan Malamute and Siberian Husky?
+PackHunter117 Huskies are too smart for their own good.
+Vince N. lol true
+Vince N. I have a husky care to elaborate my buddy Titan is the most playful yet relaxed dog I've ever owned.
What about Aussie Sheoards
Agreed very smart
+Kevin Disney 9
Yah i had one they're smart af
mine knows how to open a door and she is only 5 months

Hi great video! What about portuguese water dog and ridgeback?
No Jack Russell? Ridiculous
Their temperament is not high up on a list so they get knocked off the list. They are super intelligent but not as sociable as these on the list.
I agree, they’re very smart, but they’re very independent and aren’t strong when it comes to pleasing their owners
I have a German short hair pointer
crazy kids same i have 2 one is a mix with a golden retriever and one is full bread
German shorthair pointers are great dogs ! I miss mine.
GSP is #1 in my book.
I agree
I have a Border Collie. Well...she's got a little of bit of mixted breed in her but mostly border collie. She is so smart it amazes me.
German Shepard Dogs ROCK
I had a Cocker Spaniel once and he was dumb as a box of rocks (he was grown when I got him). OTOH, I have a Chihuahua (who is generally NOT known for "smarts"). This is the single smartest dog I have ever met. In my opinion, I think the smartness of a dog is really measured by the owner's love and patience.
I'm not surprised that Jack Russels aren't on here, lol.
My jack russell is a fucking spaztic lmfao
Same like they are so clever
Mine is fuckin smart and Playful
+Meg Mord no they're not lol
wat
My border collie only knows a hand full of phrases
"Do you want a treat"
"Give me a cuddle"
"Kiss" (touches nose)
"Good girl"
"Love you"
"Walkies"
"Din dins"
And wannabe play fetch
Great video...
Thanks man...
I thought at least Australian Shepherds would be up there
Yeah same xD
+Pål Opsahl lol welp
I have an Aussie - she's pretty smart. This video is pretty subjective....
i thought so too my australian shepherd is very smart
+Jaylyn's Life same my Aussie is very smart as well
I have a Rottweiler😆😆😆 I love him even more knowing that his breed ranked as the 9th most intelligent breed of dog.
Rotties are awesome! When I was thinking about getting a dog, Rotties were on my list. But alas, a greyhound stole my heart lol - Juan
I agree
as for your comment about greyhounds........... they have compassion ! Im in a wheelchair permanent... my friends took me to Petsmart to get some stuff for my dog.. while in there this greyhound with a perfect shaped white heart at the end of his nose pulled his owner toward me and lay his big head on my shoulder and hugged me tight around the neck with his head... that was the best hug Ive ever had
what cocker spaniels are damn hard headed
Knock Knock But smart as hell. They’re just stubborn 😂
@@emspumpkin5086 I have two Cocker Spaniels they are stubborn around anyone except people they know. They hate kids, every kid but me. Besides that they are very sweet and I love them
Our family of pets my cocker spaniel is not stubborn at all! Also loves kids and is a extremely good watchdog!
Weimaraners should be #1! My soul breed! My favorite breed next to the Pit, which doesn't surprise me didn't make the list! Such hatred and prejudice because of man!
I had a German Short Haired Pointer and he was one of the smartest dogs I ever met and so affectionate and would let me rid him as a tot
Hello beautiful
where is husky?
avinish tiwary huskies are dumb as fuck in traing. They may be very intelligent but they are independent. They do not like training and commands at all
They just... they just said that they're intelligent.
MimitehDragon sorry ok I was mad can we just forget about it
Where is Siberian Husky?!!!!! Husky is one of the most intelligent dog breed !!!!
Bari Naiem very true. I had one that was a quarter wolf and that dog was ingenious. He’s watch us open doors and figure it out. Almost smart as our Doberman
Actually thats untrue. they are loyal but they are difficult to train and arent very obediant without lots of excessive training.
Amen brother I own two and its upsetting that they didn't make the list.
I truly believe Catahoula Leopard Dogs should be in the top 10. They are amazingly intelligent.

Sure they are 😆
and very mean
bruh no 💀 they are to hyper and can’t keep focus
Yep
I new that the border collie would be number one
Go ahead and hate me..a border collie showed up at our place; I named him Pretty Boy. We had other dogs, he quickly set out to be #1. Not fighting, just being Boss. My family talked me into taking him off. I chose a place with lots of Kid traffic, $$$, etc. A year later, he was back. This time I took him to the ASPCA. Wherever you are, Pretty Boy, I hope...
what about huskies -.- .-.
I was going to say the same thing, I have 2 female Siberian Huskies and they are extremely intelligent
+schweddy balls Amazing dogs!!! I may just get one, because I am almost 1 and a half years looking for a companion, but somehow the plan doesn't get together.
The blue eyed Huskies are SO beautiful!
Staminist you should ! They're awesome.
Jeff Acosta And that will probably be my plan till I find the right one :)
+Jeff Acosta they are jus tbeautiful but not smart enough. also huskies hard to train, border collies are awsome :)

MS soofie TDM ummmm...smart but overly territorial...but smart.
Yes they are literally the best dogs ever and so under-rated!
Labrador smarter than a Belgium Malinois - that's laughable
Labs are very smart
Darn straight! The Belgian Malinois is amazing! They are used by military and law enforcement and from things I have seen and read, they have more stamina than German Shepherds and are every bit as intelligent. This list was f*cked. It seems all these lists are different depending on who posts them. Therefore invalid...
thesmartcanine.com/dog-breeds/smartest-dog-breeds-list/
Carolyn Colebeck labs are a dumb smart. I have two. They have a very “dog” personality with very little wish to do anything but please. My husky is in between. My American Eskimo has what I call a “people” personality because he will listen, but he will make it clear he is not happy about it by taking his sweet time to do it or he will literally sigh in discontent for the command. He communicates what he wants incredibly well through body language. I think that shows some basic ability for him to think for himself, giving the dog a little more individuality to the dog
