This is so incredible that a dog could learn that much words and a human realizes that. RIP both of them :(

02:50 WOW hes telling her when shes on the right one! LOL Notice she goes tot he wrong one! but when on the right one YER that means pick it up! LOL His voice changes! He give sit away!
For those of you wondering, she outlived her owner by over a year. RIP both of them ❤
That’s sad, I’m sure she missed him terribly.
man, loss is such a hard part of life. its immeasurable and intolerable. RIP indeeed.
That's heartbreaking. Poor wee Chaser. 😢
❣🙏🏽
🕊💞😇😇🙏🏽
They forgot to show the most amazing thing that Chaser did: the old doctor scattered all 1000+ dog toys around his house, and then told her to fetch a specific toy. The test was tricky because he used a new name he never taught her, and had put a new toy somewhere in the house. She went around the house, looking at the various toys, and eventually decided to pick up the new toy. She deduced that the unfamiliar word must be the name of the new toy. She's an incredible dog!
Wow that's actually insane. Alot of children would fail that test. Shows alot of mental clarity and very quick logic and deduction which I'd say is beyond even a 5 year Olds intelligence
That’s amazing. What a great dog.

Ok. Yeah. Years ago, Neil Degrasse Tyson did a vid of her doing the exact same. Thought this was her.

But what if the dog is sizing you up with his eyes, as he plans the best way to attack you?
The fact that's his owner at 86 can still get down on his knees like that is a miracle within itself
Yeh I thought that myself.
I practice squatting every day to stay flexible. It's actually very comfortable, as all toddlers know before we put them in chairs.

I used to have a German Shepherd. She was smarter than most humans, with a wicked sense of humor. If we were late feeding her, she would get her food dish and throw it at us. She could snag snowballs out of the air and sling them right back at the person throwing them. She would also get her leash and walk herself. Gosh, I could go on forever about her. I miss her.
Had my Shepherd for 13 years.
He's been gone for a decade now.
Hole in my heart forever.💔

your dog wasn't smarter than any human
The fact that she could throw snowballs stands out above any dog ive ever encountered
He says his dog has the capabilities of a two-year-old. I’ve never met a two year old who was so well-behaved! That dog clearly has more emotional maturity than many adults I’ve met.
Absolutely! I say our standard poodle has the intelligence of a 3-5 year old child. They are definitely much smarter and well behaved than a 2 year old.
The video is not talking about emotional maturity. But I agree with your comment.
@@TrickDogWin AMEN! And dogs have a natural intuition. I always trust my dogs reaction to people!!
@@gloriamaryhaywood2217 oh boy. Be careful with that. Dogs are clueless to what you are thinking, they go off body language, which is something you have 100% control over expressing. Dogs only know what you telegraph from a mile away.
@@hicknopunk My own intuition is very strong and on Point itself! But the dogs that I've had during my life seem to pick up hidden negative aspects as well! For instance some person at a social gathering can suddenly give me the creeps, without doing or saying anything out of the Norm. Without fail, later on I'll find out that the creeps I felt were more than justified!
I didn’t have to see MRI results to know this! Dogs are very sensitive, smart and extraordinary and they’re never scamming anyone. That’s a Human trait. 🐾
I had a "scammer" dog and she was hilarious, the stories I could tell you.
My dog is a scammer.
Cats are basically scamming you, and they're not human
I have a (very) senior dog who is in some arthritic pain and possibly having ‘Sundowners’ syndrome in the evening. The vet’s got her on some meds which I cover in peanut butter, then roll in small kibbles to make a coated ‘cookie’. I want to make SURE she gets her meds down. She happily complies with this routine.
Like ALL old people, she has good days and bad; and didn’t need the meds every single night. But as the weeks pass, I have noticed her putting on a big show of a needless ‘anxiety attack’ which is quickly over once she gets her P, B, + K cookie….. I do believe my dog is scamming me for the treat. 😧 because she settles down faster than the medication could possibly dissolve in her system and calm her down.

When my hunting dog saw this amazing guy, he left me a note saying "off to a better boss"
My grandfather and father were dairy farmers. My granddad’s Border collie Shep I believe essentially knew conversational English. You could say to her “Hey, Shep, go down to the end of the pasture and make sure we got them all,” and she would go and do it. She probably saved his life once: He had gone into a small paddock where he kept a bull to fill the bull’s water trough. The bull knocked him to the ground and was beginning to strike at his chest with its hooves. Shep slipped under the fence, fastened her teeth onto the bull’s tail, and held on tight until the bull decided to go after her instead. She held on, according to my grandfather’s story, and he was able to roll away and escape while the bull chased his tail. At a strategic moment, Shep let go and darted away. She lived to be 17, or so they told me; I was a child when she died.
That's an amazing story. Thanks for sharing!

My senior dog lost his hearing two years ago and I've taught him sign language and I was shocked at how easy it was. He now looks to my hands to see what I'm telling him. About 12 years ago, our elderly akita had to have emergency bloat surgery. He had a 50/50 chance of surviving, but he made it through the surgery. The vet called us after the surgery, telling us that we could come back into the recovery room to see him.
When we entered the room, Jake was deep asleep, since he was still coming out of anesthesia. His eyes were closed tight. But within a few moments, his eyes cracked open. And as soon as he saw us there with him, his heart rate went NUTS. You could hear the beeping on the monitor going crazy.
I knew that Jake loved us before that moment, but as long as I live, I will never forget the sound of that beeping, his heart going crazy for us.

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE WITH THIS MAN! I was able to teach my cat Fazzy that I rescued about 15 tricks! Hide n seek was his favorite! My Mom called him her Grandson & sent him toys in the mail addressed to her Grandson Fazzy! Mom passed away Jan.6,2016 & Fazzy woke up 2 days later & while walking to the litter box had a seizure and passed away after I tried EVERYTHING TO SAVE HIM!!💔 I was totally devastated because I couldn't have children and he was my son for 13 years. I have a 13-year-old Staffordhire Bull Terrier. I am 82 and have had her since she was six weeks old. I've always treated her as a companion, not just a dog, and talk to her as if she is just a house mate. She understands literally hundreds of words, I never issue "commands", and talk to her as if she's a human being. I have no choice, come to think of it, often enough I don't have anyone else to talk to for days! I am still gobsmacked every day how she responds to "ordinary" conversation and seems to pick up meanings. You only have to look into a dog's eyes and see there's a BRAIN at work in their heads!

When I met my wife she had a American eskimo. She told me it was smart but untrainable. Within a month I had that dog doing amazing things. It was the smartest dog I had ever seen. My guess is that dog do three or 400 words. If my wife said after dinner take out the garbage and walk the dog, if I picked up the leash the dog would go sit by the garbage can to remind me to take out the garbage. That dog also taught me some things. It taught me different bark for different things he wanted. A short shot bark meant come here I need you.two short barks ment water. He did not have a good sense of smell but he could hear her car 3 minutes before she got home. He continued to learn new words right up to his old age.
I have raised these dogs for years. They are truly intelligent and capable of understanding many commands.
Several dogs have let me share their lives with them and I feel so lucky and privileged. The smartest dog, Liza, a Blue Merle Collie, we still live together now (2023 she is 13 years old) Her problem solving skills and level of understanding what I'm saying to her, is amazing!! So sad that most animals live a relatively short life compared to us, the time we get to spend with them is never enough.
I've had dozens of pets through the years - I'm old now. This includes dogs, cats, birds and horses. The intelligence and kindness they've shown in varying degrees is overwhelming to recall.
But the main gift they've brought is allowing me to matter in their lives. Nearly all were adopted from difficult circumstances. They had no reason to let me in - to respond kindly, but they did.
Fwiw, I had an NDE at 19 in which I was greeted by my great-grandfather and an old family dog. I realize it proves nothing , but - because of that - I know we'll all see our animal friends in the next dimension.
Take care, everyone.
Yes, we will. What a great experience for you - the NDE. It gives us hope, and a promise. Take care.
We had a farm dog (when I was a kid) that could open and close doors, turn faucets with levers on an off. Light switches. Could go to the store by herself and fetch the grocery basket. She slept in her own person bed and could pull up the covers. Could fetch farm tools, could count up to ten in barks, watch tv for hours, liked to listen to the radio, see herself in the mirror, sing, laugh when you tickled her. Walk on two legs. Amazing dog. Animals way smarter than people ever can imagine.
O my god. Must have been great being with her around.

@@seviregis7441 The really strange thing about it was that it was not an accident that we were together. Anyone who has spent any real time with dogs, and paid attention to their feelings and emotions, should have no doubt in the level of understanding and intelligence that dogs possess. They understand so much of what's going on. Maybe even more than us sometimes, because they're more in tune with body language and energy that someone exhibits. Dogs are sometimes able to sense dangerous intentions from a stranger before we do. Or when you're sad or upset, they understand it. They know SO much about what's going on.
So very true.
Totally agree! I think they pick up on unexpressed emotion more than we do, certainly expressed emotion! Their instinct is still so raw and humans have lost those capabilities. We have also lost our humanity, dogs have not, they will always be loyal and empathetic towards humans, even those that mistreat them ❤
Very true. This applies to all animals.
The pain of losing your furry best friend is the worst pain ever!!
"You cannot share your life with a dog ... or a cat, and not know perfectly well that animals have personalities and minds and feelings." - Jane Goodall
I can't tell you how IRRITATING it is when I hear people pondering about whether or not your pet "really loves you". We've gone to the moon, but we're still wondering if animals have feelings?? Lmao WTF
I see so many stories of dogs who've risked their lives for their owners when they were in danger or stayed by their side when the owner is sick, or how excited they get when they see a member of the family return after being away for a long time like people in the military for example. Dogs wouldn't do any of this just for a treat, they do it because they love their owner, and they know their owner loves them. ❤
It’s that man’s grace that makes his dog learn from him! ❤
Dogs are angels sent from heaven.❤
Lol you're silly
no, dogs were custom designed by man here on earth :D
People get attacked and sometimes killed by dogs.
There are way too many dogs and their population should be decreased
Odd thing to say, I do love dogs though 🖤
I think a lot of people have missed just how sentient and consious animals really are. They're smarter and more aware than we give them credit for. Hang out with them like a friend, they are one.

What a beautiful dog Chaser was, and she and her owner seemed to have a truly wonderful relationship. This small documentary is very moving and well-made.
It made me think about a dog that I still love. There was this German Shepherd I grew up with, his name was Ricko and he was the best friend that a child could have. He was patient, relaxed and up for fun and just a really good boy. He taught me it's okay to be curious, important to be kind and that there is nothing wrong with just being. He was like the most furry German Shepherd I had ever seen as a child, with very long orange-brown-black hair and very big open eyes. I really hope there is a dog heaven and that he is in it.
He's there ... for sure. And keeping watch for you.
Just saw this program on Tv - we had our Collie for 13 years and she had a HUGE vocabulary, she could read our bodylanguage and understood phrases and sentences - she also knew all her toy names - about 30 over the years. Her vocab was roughly more or less of a 2-3 year old - her reading your body language and exactly knowing what you plan to do was amazing. We missed her a lot 😰- she passed away due to old age March 2023. We treated her like a child and she knew she was our 'child' - she was a rescue dog too. We got her when she was 3 months old - previous owners wanted to put her down!!

Yup, my dog knows what I'm going to do next before I think it's even occurred to me. Apparently, he's picking up on subconscious cues that I don't even realize I'm exhibiting.
Yes, this is not news to me. I watch dog channels on YT all the time, especially huskies, and they know a lot of the same things that Chaser does. She remembers people well even if she doesn’t see them for one year. She is amazing given the fact she weighs just 7-8 pounds.
Having lived with dogs for nearly 70 years, I know first hand how brilliant dogs ARE. I rescue dogs, "mean, stupid, vicious,..." or other disparaging words used to describe the rescued dogs, that are by all definition, Einsteins waiting to happen. Love, patience, trust, understanding, and believing are what make these dogs, WONDER DOGS!!!
Some idiot dumped a dog on my farm 5 years ago. He finally came up to the house and let me talk to and feed him. He has been with me ever since. We’ve walked over 5000 miles together now - best dog, no - best friend i’ve ever had. 😊
and as you are well aware ... dogs respond to their environment (just as humans do). If a dog is "mean .. vicious" .. that comes from the "owners" .. it's not the dogs fault
Amen!
I know what you mean. Had several rescue dogs from brilliant to stupid, but all sweet. Most amazing was the dog we adopted at age 8/9. She was intelligent, not because we taught her things but she communicated. One day I came home and she greets me at the door, wagging her tail but showing her teeth. It took me a moment to understand she was trying to smile at me. She had comprehended that people show their teeth at each other to show pleasure and was copying that behavior. A rescue dog that had been abused for 8 years in her life producing puppies. It was not taught behavior, it was intelligence. I have had 4 dogs since her (older rescues). All sweet, but I have never seen a dog as intelligent as she was. Einstein happens.
Better than Humain in many fields ...
True. I was training my pup who liked to run away and would never respond to "Stop! stop! Come come here!"
Then one day though we lived in the country never much traffic, I heard a car and Oh my god! She was running too far ahead,
I screamed "Stop Sheba stop then *FREEZE!!* She froze in her tracks, never moved an inch.
I realized she could sense my emotion. And knew I meant Don't you move!
From that day on though she would freeze every time, very smart, and funny.
I miss terribly she was 17 years old.
Had a dog named freeze. When u shouted that in a public park people would freak
Tess Sanders, I had a shi tzu and terrier mixes & they were that same exact way. They could sense my emotion and would stop immediately. When I took them to a huge soccer park in town, I'd let them off leash because no one was around and when they went too far I'd whistle real loud and they'd turn & come back my direction. They didn't always listen well but when we were outside in public, they were always on leash.
Mine immediately freeze when I say coyote. Hope THAT continues👍🏻
Hey! I had a very similar situation with a dog friend of mine. My friend and her sister went to the gym and left me their dog with me to take her for a walk. When I did (the stupid mistake), of leaving her without leash, she started run towards the street. I ran to her, very afraid that she could ran towards the cars. When I finally screamed in fear she understood, she froze and wait for me. I swear it was one of the biggest fear I had on my life. I would be very heartbroken, to bring a dead dog to my friends because she would be hit by a car. Fortunately, she understood, she froze and waited for me sitting in place. Man, whenever I'll have a dog friend by myself alone, I will never ever leave the leash. That was a special lesson that I have learned.
Anyone who owns a dog knows they are just like people they have personalities and different levels of intelligence some are loving some are quiet some can't keep still some are mischievious some are very smart this validates what all dog lovers already know they are part of our family we love them and when they pass away we grieve
So trueee, and it stems from their training and environment. Like how people train their kids with good values, just like how people train their dogs to be killers , or calm
My little dog is blind. She lost her vision to glaucoma at the age of 10. She is a Papillon, and they are a highly intelligent breed.
Initially when she was blind we both became anxious and tentative. I did not want her to be fearful all the time. Now I hold back snd let her figure things out for herself, only stepping in if she becomes frustrated. I simply tell her "you're ok, figure it out". Most of the time she does, using her hearing and sense of smell. I'm very proud of her and her ability to reason.
Years ago we had a Labrador who learned to play without us. She would nudge a ball at the top of a hill. As it rolled down the hil she would chase it. She would pick it up at the bottom and make her yodelling celebratory noises, carry it back up the hill and start again.
I remember an old couple who lived in the next street from me. They had a border collie - known to be intelligent dogs - called Elvis (they had rescued him - the name wasn't their choice). He was the smartest dog I ever met. If you were in the garden and asked him to fetch something from inside the house (he couldn't see it, so pointing was of no help), he would always bring the correct thing. He could do this with dozens of items. So not only did he know what you wanted, he knew how to find it. He was very funny. If he wanted food, he would bring you his metal bowl from the kitchen and bang it on the wall. Great dog.
Our yorkie used to do that with his bowl too but he’d pick it up & throw it over & over!
Yep, a friend had a miniature Golden Retriever, which he wasn't, he grew to 70 Lbs, but he also knew his toys by name, a new one every month and the dog would always fetch the correct toy. He worked with the dog, just like this guy, so it's a matter of time and training, like a child. I have neighbors that rescued 2 dogs, they are large, never walked and just bark, it's a pity.
Elvis is a fantastic name
I had a Schnauzer, poodle mix and she did the same thing. If she wanted water she would bring her water bowl, and if she wanted food she'd bring me her food bowl.If she wanted to play in the water, shed bring her favorite stick . If she wanted to play tug a war shed bring her rope toy. I still miss her everyday

My 12yr old Cattle dog has a large vocabulary. We bonded immediately when I rescued her from a shelter at 7 months old. She is the most social dog I've ever had. She is the reason I have more friends in my neighborhood than ever before. She is the reason I have my own successful dog walking and sitting business. Everybody calls me the dog whisperer like Cesar Milan, but she is the real ⭐ star!!!
I’ve had my dog for 3 years now and walk him at least once a day. It’s a wonderful way to meet your neighbors and get exercise.
You’re so fortunate to e able to spend so much time with dogs.
They can sure make us look good, can't they?
Your are truly blessed 😇
Anyone that lives closely with a dog and invests time to really get to know them personally knows how intelligent they are. And, no, when you leave and are met at the door by a welcoming and excited dog, it’s not that they want you to feed them or scam you, it means they missed you and are glad you are home again because they really love you. Dogs can remember a person they love after years of separation. God bless them. They are wonderful companions and personal friends to people that treat them well, just like most humans.
Love to see this man's love for his dog.
Here after rewatching Homeward Bound. Dogs are so smart and loving!
Dogs rule. It’s sad that this gentleman and this smart, sweet pup have since passed away. “Man’s best friend’ indeed.
Can you imagine all the conversations they're having on the other side 🙏❤️🤗 I hope they'll send me a dog that I can bond with like these two.
God bless them 😔😔😔🙏🏻 rest in peace
SO SORRY TO HEAR ILL LOSE MY ZEKE ONE DAY AND ID RATHER BE FIRST TO GO ACTUALLY
@@ZEKEDAWG23 I know, but he needs you, sir. No one else can take care of him like the person who loves them like that. They can't find a better life anywhere. I know that same pain, this is what I tell myself. Nothing makes it easier but it is true.
Oh no , sorry to hear that 😔
Our beautiful dog loves Christmas. Last year, as we were all getting our presents from under the tree, she sat quietly in the background. When her name was called she got up excitedly to collect her gift. She would take it back to her spot whist someone ‘helped’ her unwrap it. Each time her name was called she did the same thing. She knew she was included in the festivities of receiving gifts. She is one of our children.
That's so cute!! She must feel very loved!
I do this with mine!! They love presents. They understand them completely.
That was so sweet.
Absolutely wonderful Our furry kids really know. When I come back from work etc our two dogs sit very excited to see what’s inside my bags and are delighted when their name is called to get “new toy” or “yummy biscuit” etc When I say “letters to give to Dad” That is their favourite … the responsibility of doing a good job makes our dogs really happy and proud of themselves.
My dog wants to "unwrap" all the presents🎁!!!
I've learned so much about dogs, by watching a family of dogs and how they react to each other and love each other their loyalty and care for each other. They are bonded to me. And hurt when I'm gone at work Until I get home. I feel the same. We are connected in our 💕🥰
Dog: *picks up correct ball*
People: “OMG HES SO SMART SMARTER THAN HUMANS”
Anyone who has ever trained a dog knows this stuff. Chaser might be smart but so many dogs are smart. Especially if they are worked with, interacted with and respected.
I think you’re right. Scientists are just working out what owners of cattle & sheep dogs, or people who’ve behaved towards their dog as though they are a true family member have been pretty sure of for a long time. They’re have been, and are, dogs in our extended family who were real family members. They were always at family gatherings, & when they were getting old & sick, everyone was told & came to visit before they passed away.
They still struggle with the five foot stick vs the three foot gap though. But yeah, problem solving issues aside most dogs can be trained to a degree, especially Collies.
That's what I was thinking by the end .. great science is finally catching up with what we already know..
Does "smartest dog in the world" mean anything to you? Haha
Goats can open gates and squirrels can tackle assault courses. Now that's smart.
My in-laws always say their lab is soooo smart. I never thought to much about it...until a few months ago! We went to visit my in-laws, and while we were there my husband was telling his father that he can never keep track of his pocketknives and was bummed for losing his last one. All of sudden, Bailey, the lab jumped up and started sniffing the couch and would not stop. Assuming Bailey had a toy stuck under it, my husband extended the recliner on the couch and crawled under to see what Bailey was fussing about. Sure enough, his knife was right there!! He pulled it out and Bailey just lay back down, like no big deal. It was amazing. I never would have believed it if I didn't see it myself. What's even crazier is that 6 months before, we lived with them while our new house was being built. That is when my husband probably dropped his pocketknife. So, she knew it the entire time was there and didn't react until Justin started complaining about it. Such a smart GURL!!
Wow
My dog, at 7 months old, alerted me to the fact that my husband had had a stroke and was having a seizure, saving his life. This was at 2:00 a.m. she was making noises and sitting with all 4s on his chest. She's an Australian Koolie and oh so smart. She's had no training for this. She is a Therapy Dog and did this again when a woman that was checking into her program. Thibodeaux was resting by me when she suddenly jumped up and ran toward the woman and that woman suddenly fell over as she had a seizure. 911 was called and the woman recovered. She's been written up in a magazine and honored by our town, Sandy, Utah and by the Utah Chapter of the American Red Cross at a banquet for 14 other Everyday Heroes...she was the only animal. I'm very proud of her and she's the sweetest and smartest dog ever...no training for this; it's just built in.
My grand parents had a dog named general and he knows not to be on the couch but when my grandparents went up stairs he would jump up to be by me he will and get down when he heard them about to come downstairs? During the Winter he would sneak my coat off the couch and wrap himself in it😂 because I would give him the most attention and love. So anything that had my scent on it he would lay on.
Awesome!!!🎉🎉🎉😮
Koolies are so darn beautiful!
I love dogs and they are loving and giving and so much smarter than most people know.
Thankful to John and Chaser. I’ve been advocating for my dogs that they’re smarter than we know. Therefore please treat them with kindness, love and stimulate their minds every day. This video piece should be running on a loop at every pet store, vet and boarding places as well.
Very well said. I adopted a puppy and she was acting out tearing things up. And I realized she was bored. I got her snuffle matts and puzzles and she’s so much happier now 🥰
I work at a dog store an old man like him comes up to me wanting to see one of our dogs, a Boston terrier pug mix. He loved the dog so much he wanted to take her home but he didn't have the money for it. He left saying I'll figure it out. 2 days later he returns goes back to being with the dog and says "I have a friend coming with a deposit" apparently he got his therapist to bring the money so he could have the dog. After hearing that we lowered the price for the dog and he almost cried saying "thank you so much" I could tell he is not well health wise but he was such a sweet man. He told me that "if I die my family will take care of her" which after watching this reminded me of him. I hope Dale is doing well with his lil cutie. He even named her after me. Sorry had the feelings💚
Don’t you dare say sorry for sharing that wonderful story
Aww
🥰 warm and fuzzy. Thanks for sharing!
The dude died in his house and the dog ate him once it ran out of food. Happens all the time.
That's so wonderful! Thank you for sharing that story. And here I am crying again. 🥹
My son had a shepherd husky mix. He trained it to do obstacle courses and to know certain words etc. Then my son got married and the dog lived with my son and his wife. All of a sudden one day the dog started shadowing the wife like crazy. He wouldn't let her out of his sight and he was always as close as he could get to her. When she found out she was pregnant we knew why. 9 months later she couldn't sleep one night. Every time she opened her eyes the dog was sitting by the bed staring at her. She would tell him to go lay down. He would lay down right there by the bed. She tried to go back to sleep but again would open her eyes and there was the dog inches from her face staring at her. She finally got up to go to the bathroom and her water broke. The dog knew she was in labor before she did.
Wow. It's like the dogs I've heard about that can detect cancer, and other medical issues. Fascinating.
That’s actually really gross
@@ejflor1313 What's gross? It's called conscientious care-taking. It's not limited to humans. Whoever raised you hopefully did that. Many people have children, spouses and family right next to them and have no clue how they're doing because they are completely detached from them. They're there physically but that's it. Have no regard or care for them whatsoever. If a living being actually caring about another is gross to you, then maybe it's because you don't understand or care about others.
I thought the baby was gonna be a dog
The dogs nose is so powerful and the hormones, I'm sure could smell it coming
Our gsd is a flunkie from a seeing eye org -and it was their loss bc of 11 dogs we've had in our lives, she's a real thinker and always wanting to learn about the world. Sometimes she overthinks things or confuses the situation, but she is worth all of the daily work we put into helping her learn and enjoy life!! Her life could have ended up much differently with another family bc she requires patience and understanding to assist her in daily learning and trust. She's amazing❤ and is SO loved! She's leaps behind Chaser when it comes to words she understands, but to us, she's the smartest dog we've ever known!!🥰 Aiko the wonder pup!! The Pilot Dogs trainers really let an amazing dog slip through the cracks but their loss was our HUGE gain!!❤❤❤❤❤ (Knowing her, she probably outsmarted them so she didn't have to live life with a harness and instead could instead live on acres with horses and chickens and her buddy, our cat!!😂)
8:50 is the most precious thing ive ever heard.
Honestly never needed a brain scan to tell us our dogs love us. If you have a family pet you understand the connection it's an unspoken connection
It’s the dog version of saying the sky is blue.
Every dog owner has experienced some level of their dogs intelligence and it is a wonderful feeling to see their understanding
Dogs are as smart as their owners. Lol
Excellent comment 👍
A lot of it does seem to depend on the breed of the dog. I had a chihuahua that was very loving but not very bright. I had a Jack Russell that was very intelligent. And much like this video showed, my border collie dwarfs both of them in terms of intelligence.
10:08 ❤
Our new puppy, 9 mos. old, takes over the leash handle and walks herself-especially when she wants to go back home or back to the car-she loves to ride! ❤
This guy is exactly like my grandpa it’s super cool. He was this big tech CTO but at home he was just an assistant to me and a bunch of animals. He never did anything for himself he would teach us too. Even the dogs and cats.. it was amazing. He had soooo much love it was just a neat way to grow up. I still have his last dog I adopted after he passed away. She’s a great girl, very spoiled.
Our standard poodle is so smart that she had us fully trained in only three days.
@Colonial64 - Ohhhhhh ... you are SOOOOO funny !! (Not!)

You're in good company!! We grew up w/a German Shepherd mix & he not only had our family trained but also some of our neighbors!
For all the "haute couture" poodles are quite smart.
My sisters dog is pretty smart too. I got up to get a drink and he followed me into the kitchen and stared at me while I was drinking, so I just said “are you thirsty?” and he literally nodded 🤯 so I said “okay where’s your bowl” and he walked to the other room and pawed it. So crazy.
Just imagine all these poor and helpless dogs are getting mistreated, when they are such a beautiful and kind soul. On top of it not only are they getting mistreated, but the ones who aren't and are loved, they are all probably so bored!! We don't deserve such a wonderful animal...
Yeah, our animals are our children. Sometimes you know we have a better relationship with them than we do our own children. And they love us more than anyone can honestly. Because they don't expect anything in return. They'll even love you even when you're not good to them and that is sad but I had a dog and he was fixed. Extremely loving to me. He loved me very much. And I loved him very much and I miss him a lot. And I think it's very wonderful that this man has this this dog for his life. Well, he left it.
I have a jack russell that I’ve had since Sept of 2013 . He was 5 weeks old . I’ve always talked to him in full sentences and I don’t think he’s ever left my side . He’s always with me . If I’m going to the store I’ll say Eddie, do you wanna go to the store with me ? He will instantly jump up and be excited and when we get to the garage he waits for me to say which car or truck we are taking . So I’ll say Eddie , let’s got to the store , we’re taking the truck . He knows exactly what I’m saying . Same thing with everything else in life . He gets excited over Christmas presents and will unwrap new toys an treats on Christmas Day. If I say Eddie , you need a bath , he will go to the bathroom and sit on the rug until I start the bath water then he will jump in the tub. When he’s done I’ll lay a towel on the floor and he will roll around and dry hisself off . He sleeps in my bed , he has a small pillow that he knows is his. He gets under the covers by himself . I can go on and on about how smart he is . I’ve always treated and talked to him like a human . He’s my little buddy . And when I tell him I love him he will come give me a hug a kisses on the hand or wrist . I’ve never really give it much thought on how smart he really is . But I trust him way more than most people . Hes 9 yrs young now and he shows no signs of slowing down . He’s a really good frisbee or ball catcher . Just a wonderful companion
I think Jack Russels are the smartest dogs. People say it is German Shepherds but I don’t think so …..it is Jack Russels for sure.
I had a jack Russell for 17 years, great dogs.
Just as special is a person that treats their dog so well and respects how smart they are, gives me hope for humanity
Ive had two Jack Russells and now have a rescue with a lot of Jack Russell in him. They are quite brilliant. I have been dealing wit major depression since the age of 12. I lived in Vermont for 10 years and was often alone. One winter when a depressive episode was bad enough to be plagued with suicidal ideation, my Jack Russell, Mr. Smee, would bark incessantly outside of the door. I thought something was wrong. It took me a while to realize that he was asking me to come outside to play. I often think the reason I am still here today is thanks to Mr. Smee.
@@elenalatici9568 I too suffer with depression and deal with panic issues everyday . But yes, they are very smart little dogs . Very easy to train , and they love to play and they demand attention all the time lol. But they are just like children . Eddie knows when I’m feeling bad and he will just lay beside me . But when im having a better day he’s ready to play . I wouldn’t know what to do without him . That was great that you rescued one . They have so much love to give .
When a dog is truly part of the family and is included in everything possible its intelligence becomes evident. Those of us who truly love and pay attention to our dogs understand that dogs have a full range of emotions and love us in the purest way possible.
I have three dogs, and they know they can look at me wanting something, and they turn their head a certain way, I will look at them and say show me, and they won’t go show me. I think my dogs are very smart and they understand a lot more than we know.
yes
Yes….. they dream also!❤
Dogs smell, ruin things and are dangerous.. Cats rule 😎😽
You are right on.
I had a border collie like .. “Chaser “.. her name was “Chi Chi “.. she had about 50 toys in her basket .. a friend had given her a soft toy as a gift .. didn’t see the friend for about 3 years .. when the friend came back .. ( with out any prompting) Chi Chi went straight to her toy Collection.. identified the toy that was given to her 3 years prior and presented it .. to my friend.. she remembered everything.!!! Chi Chi ‘s mannerisms and personality was very much like chaser .. they are the most intelligent and beautiful dogs .. 🙏
I had a pit bull that learned and taught me how to communicate with him. If I ran out of his favorite treat, he’d follow me to the kitchen and bark at me while I explained to him that I ordered more of them. He’d come bark at me if I stayed up after bedtime, and when he was in the other room, I could understand what each sound he made meant. For example, my friend was at my house and my dog made a certain vocal sound in another room and I asked my friend to please get the ball from under the bed for my dog. My friend was shocked after helping him and asked me how I knew that’s what was going on. I think we just had this very special bond where we were able to understand each other. He was such a good boy and I miss him so much. I’ve had dogs since then but never had as strong of a bond with.
I lost my girl Lucy in July. When they got to the part about eye contact, I lost it. Being able to look into her eyes and feeling like I was seen was one of the best feelings. I miss her all day, every day.
I'm so sorry. It is a deep loss, isn't it.
I lost my dog too this past July... He had been with my family for 15.5 years...
I'm sorry. Such a horrible pain. I lost my female Corgi the same day Queen Elizabeth passed. I want to believe they are together since she loved Corgis. My Lily Bird was a sweet thing and trilled like she was singing. I miss her.

The mention of eye contact between the person and their dog is very true.
I've had dogs all my life and have had deep bonds with some of them.
One of my rescue dogs, a female black Lab, was very nervous when I first got her. It didn't take long after I had adopted her, to realize that she had been abused by past owner(s). She was very skittish & submissive, wouldn't make eye contact, kept her tail mostly tucked and head lowered. She didn't seem to know what to do with a toy, and she didn't want to play with my other dog in the beginning. She basically acted as if she expected to be hit all the time. I didn't know anything about her history, but I assumed that had been her past experience.
The one time I raised my voice in anger (not at her) in her presence, she ran to the corner of the room cowering and shaking, with her face to the wall- obviously expecting to be hit. It broke my heart to see that.
It took many months of patiently waiting for her to be comfortable accepting a gentle touch without fear. I realized she finally trusted me when she began making eye contact with me and was relaxed.
A couple of months after I had adopted her, my mom said "That dog adores you. She doesn't take her eyes off of you." I told Mom, "I may be the only person in her life who has ever treated her kindly." At that point, I knew she watched me & wanted to be near me. But she still would avert her eyes if I looked into her eyes. Months later, one day she looked into my eyes, relaxed and without fear. I knew then, that she was permanently bonded to me, and loved and trusted me.
I'm so glad she came into your life, and has a safe and loving home now. ❤️
I'm glad you took the time to recognize what she needed and put in the work to build up a relationship. Most humans wouldn't have the insight or patience to do that for any animal.
Judy, what a wonderful and heartwarming story. What a lucky dog that you rescued her.
That sounds so much like the little Chihuahua that I recently adopted through a rescue foundation. She just made eye contact with me a few days ago and has begun wagging her tail. Toys are still foreign to her but I have found two pair of my socks tucked in the back of her kennel. Such a sweet girl I have found.
@@juniebugg9819 Good luck with your girl.
The first time Brook was naughty, (nothing terrible - she stole a sandwich off the table when I turned my back.) I was actually proud of her for misbehaving.
Why? Because I knew she understood she would not be harshly punished. I laughed, took the sandwich from her, broke it into small pieces, and fed it to her. Normally, that would be a dumb move- to reward your dog for misbehaving. But I wanted her to know she was safe and wouldn't be hurt, even if she was tempted and broke one of my "rules".
Some of my friends saw her when I first got her, then were amazed months later at the change in her. One friend asked, "What did you do? I can't believe that's the same dog, she's so different now."
I replied "I just loved her."
I believe dogs understand when we rescue them from terrible situations, and are very grateful and loyal to us. She was the sweetest, most gentle dog. There was no reason to treat her badly. (If you have a bad temper, or are easily angered- you shouldn't have a dog!)
She watched my interactions with my other dog, and realized she was safe. She relaxed with me, and her sweet personality blossomed.
This was years ago, she's gone now. I was glad she came into my life and I made sure she the rest of her life, with me, was happy. I have some sweet memories of her years with me and another rescued Lab, Riley. When Brook passed away, Riley cried along with me. They understand much more than we give them credit for.
Now i know how much my dog loves me. What a great insight to our buddies. ❤
I had a dog that did the same thing. I'd put out all the toys and have her bring me back the cow cow. She went and dug it out and brought it back. My dog grew up in a truck and knew many many words. It is amazing.
