      They worked very hard to make Yoasobi a success. Things didn't magically work out for them. Just because an artist debut song is good it doesn't mean they didn't spend hundreds of hours to get good. It was their first song as Yoasobi but not as musicians.

      @@EvaFuji yes especially when they both already making name by themselves. not discrediting them, but they are great duo, but not great newcomer. same case with Creepy Nuts, both are talented artists, but before duoing, they were racking prestige here and there before.

    Hatsune Miku is just a vocaloid software. Whenever it says "(feat. Hatsune Miku)" that simply means that they used the software. There is no Hatsune Miku artist, it's just the voice, so it doesn't really mean anything. For instance, Ashnikko has a song "with" Hatsune Miku.

    • @Giovansbilly
      @Giovansbilly 8 місяців тому +68

      Indeed. Rin and Len Kagamine, Megurine Luka, Kaito, Meiko, etc are also Vocaloid softwares. And Vocaloid softwares themselves are parts of the virtual singer software, since there's non-Vocaloid virtual singer softwares such as Kasane Teto and more

      its not about creating art with Hatsune Miku, but they are using Hatsune Miku fame as their catalyst. Featuring doesnt mean the one featured have to create, you can use someone famous name and call it featuring too though. its not as simple as "its just a software, so it doesnt mean anything" of course it means something, in this case, some big thing -.- Miku in japan is not something trivial, its a huge sub culture there

    You probably forgot to mention this in your video but Yoasobi also did a collab with *Gundam* which is definitely the bigger overall IP than Beastars & Frieren.
    Btw Gundam IP was the first anime franchise that sold "anime OST" back in the year 1979-1980 IIRC & kickstarted the "anime song" industry. Ever since that, Gundam has been collabing with some of the greatest artists out there (even from outside Japan). Some artists' careers were even propelled by their collabs with Gundam like Hiroyuki Sawano, Aimer, Nami Tamaki & TM Revolution. And Yoasobi also did spectacularly with their OP for *Gundam - The Witch from Mercury* even though not as bombastic in popularity as Oshi no Ko or Frieren.

    I attended yoasobi's first solo show in LA a few days ago and it was such an experience to see them live. I listened to their debut song a few months after it was released and I had no idea it was going to be the biggest japanese song ever. I've mostly seen artists get recognition for their music through anime's but within the last few years japanese artists are getting western streams without it. Yoasobi, Ado, Yorushika, and Vaundy are the main artists I can name that gained popularity overseas without having done work for an anime prior.

    I don't know if you know but the website they get their songs from is operated by Sony.
    They are talented for sure, but a huge part of their success is because of Sony's backing.

    Hope they won't fade away like SUPERCAR and CAPSULE. Even Miki Furukawa's second wind effort(LAMA) couldn't save her band's revitalization.

    There is a good reason you will never see a video of the singer performing "Idol" (in Japanese or English) live and unplugged. Ayase and his team's "Ai", pun intended, at least partially created and performed this song.
    The Japanese word for "love" is "ai", and the English version made sure to capitalize the A to hint that the music is A.I. generated. For more hints, those remotely familiar with coding will immediately pick up on three words in the English lyrics ... "Ruby", "Maria", and "Aqua". This does not necessarily mean the music or performance is not 'good', but it adds another level of meaning to both the lyrics and the performance, a self-referential meaning that few pop culture consumers dig deep enough to catch, similar to Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" or Tom Jobim's "Desifinado" (Slightly Out of Tune).
    What prompted me to pick up on this? I am a retired prof of applied linguistics (and taught Comparative Culture) living in Japan for 42 years now ... and while teaching some Jr. High kids, had to explain why even native speakers of English can not sing along with the English version without lots of practice. I also sing old-school bossa nova and play on a thoroughly analog guitar. For any doubters, just do a YT search for "Himari Semens Wise Consumer" and read the comment.

    japan is not obsessed with yoasobi. they have the strongest label backing them. this is the equivalent of a japanese person making a video of "the wests obsession with ice spice". the power of advertising wins in the end
