Abba were a studio group - they made technically complex, harmonious music. When they played live there was always backup singers, more musician's to add those layers of complex sound. Agnetha in particularly did not like performing live - centre of all the attention maybe? They toured and went on the road because they had too - no internet in the 70's. But they spent most of their productive time in studio, perfecting that awesome sound.

Well...before abba started they where all in othe bands for more than 10 years. They hated touring because they had spent their youth doing north of a 1000 gigs each. One of the girls was also deathly afraid of flying, which didn't help. Also, at this point TV studios where not rigged for live performances so no bands played live on TV during these years.

The choreography is a masterpiece in my eyes. You can see that there is a plan and structure behind the overall concept and the big and small major moves but place for individual freedom especially for the ladies. They fit together well but never look really syncronized to the point, leaving them their individuality inside the teamplay. That looks amazing! They are connected individuals and not interchangable or uniform dancing robots. There you can see that they have fun together, beeing naturally similar yet still independent spirits. GREAT!

When performing on TV for a studio audience there would be just the four main ABBA members with maybe a bass player and drummer added. The music would not be live, however. The Bass lines & style in this song is very common through the Disco music of the 70's. I think disco actually changed Bass styles, that is still common today.

Good reaction my friend...I have seen your reactions to Dimash, the best male singer of the world...The passion and dedication when interpreting a song can only be compared with the person who has influenced him to sing leaving everything on stage: His idol, the queen, the incomparable Lara Fabian...Lara is the best female singer and performer of the world...She is a light lyric soprano with a great vocal range and incredible breath control, which is one of the things that Dimash admires the most about Lara...She speaks 5 languages and sings like in 12 languages....That's why she is the inspiration for Dimash and several singers around the world...You can see on UA-cam covers of her songs made by singers of the stature of: Dimash, Floor Jansen, Morissette Amon, Gabriel Henrique, Katrina Velarde, Cakra Khan and others...Please react to her songs, all masterpieces, in LIVE versions, because Lara is more impressive when she sings live, so you can see why she is the idol of Dimash...Try to do it in this order and almost all songs are from the same Lara’s concert “From Lara With Love” in Montreal 1999, one of her best works: 1) Je Suis Malade (Singing in French)...2) Caruso (Singing in Italian)...3) Je T'AIME (2002 Live version in Paris Singing in French)...4) Perdere L'Amore (1999 Live version Singing in Italian)...5) Adagio (1999 Live version singing in english)...6) Broken Vow (1999 Live version singing in English)...7) You are Not From Here (1999 Live version singing in English)...8) Quédate (1999 Live version singing in Spanish)....9) Ti Amo Cosi (2019 Live version Singing a trío with Dimash and Aida Garifullina)....Thank you.

This isn't actually live. In the days before music videos, groups would be featured on TV programs where they would lip sync to the single version. So most videos you see pre-80s are usually just lip synced versions.

Another thing,no other band members could look so happy and natural on stage as these 4 swedes...What part of the video I liked best? Well, concerning the song, all of it..concerning their stage performance, when the 2 girls approached the guys there and sang close to them,or pretended to sing..it created an even bigger closeness and warm vibe for this video..and when Frida kissed Benny..

Hi, a few things. Firstly I have just discovered yr channel as a massive fan of abba since 1974 I am very happy to see how happy abba songs make you.
Secondly, as I have seen, you have now discovered Dimash, who I believe is regarded to be the ‘king’ when it comes to vocals, so I thought that even though you have already done video’s of some of the great female voices of today e.g Diana A & morissette, I would recommend a lady to you that is regarded by many to be Dimash’s ‘queen’, and that is Sohyang from S.Korea ( given the artists you have checked out so far, I can’t believe that I am the only one to have recommended Sohyang to you). I would recommend to start with either a traditional Korean folk song that has been elevated in to a more anthemic number by sohyang’s talent for musical arrangements ( she does her own arrangements) & this is her performance of ‘Arirang Alone’ from the ‘immortal songs 2’ series. Or if you prefer a song where you are familiar with the original then I suggest her performance of ‘Bridge over troubled water’ , again from the ‘immortal songs’ series. If you are not familiar with this song then I suggest you should try out her performance of probably one of the most famous songs ever, Whitney Houston’s ‘ I have nothing’ at the DMC festival but if you’re thinking you won’t bother with that because no one can sing it at Whitney’s level then I implore you to trust me because you will be shocked😂😂.
Finally, another Dimash request please, his performance of ‘Opera 2’ from the ‘I am singer’ show. You’ve probably heard this performed before by ‘Vitas’ but Dimash’s version is on a different level altogether, and you get to see him been playful & teasing the audience, basically just having fun.
Many thanks from a new subscriber who is about to check out your patron page to see your reaction to ABBA’s new songs.
