    I am Tom Saguto, PGA Member and founder of SagutoGolf. Thank you for visiting my instructional page where you can find how to get on the fast track to improving your golfing abilities. Whether you are a seasoned golfing veteran looking for a quick swing tune-up after an on-course emergency, or a beginner just looking to get the most out of your golfing experience, I am here to help you achieve your golfing goals.
    My mission as your swing doctor is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.
    My philosophy is wholly based on the student having a fun, meaningful experience in a frustrating and complicated game where potential lifelong golfers either quit because it is too difficult or that they experience some form of swing-related pain or discomfort. I mitigate these problems by focusing entirely on the student’s needs and goals while teaching a golf swing method that ultimately takes stress off of the common pain areas of the swing.

    Mr. Saguto, I found your tips on youtube and decided to give stack and tilt a chance. I am 69 years old, been playing since I was 10 years old. Was a 15 handicap for years. Since I retired and started playing an average of 4 times a week, I got my handicap down to 12. Then I started S&T based on your lessons available on youtube. My handicap is now 8.2. my last 5 scores are 74, 84, 74, 78, 75. The 84 was an anomaly I attributed to playing in a light rain and only my second round using S&T. I play a Jack Nicklaus Design resort course in Texas. I play it at about 5800 yards though sometimes I play the 6300 yard tees. The rounds mentioned were from the 5800 yard tees due to the ground being saturated from heavy rains (Cart Path Only) where the drives were not rolling out as normal. So, I want to thank you for posting your tips on youtube. I'm thinking about joining your instruction program but I'm on a fixed income so I want to see how much I can improve from what you post on youtube before committing the $10 per month. Thanks again for your help.

      @@SagutoGolf Mr. Saguto, I felt compelled to laud your instruction again. This weekend was our club championship. I played in the Senior Flight getting 5 strokes from the white tees (5800 yards). As I mentioned above, the weather was warm and wet again, providing little to no roll on the tee shots. As the lowest handicap in the flight, I was giving two strokes per round to my nearest competitor. Through 17 holes I was standing at gross 75 and he was at gross 76. As we putted out on 17 the sky opened up and play was suspended. We came back today to finish the 18th hole before playing the second round. So, teeing off on 18 I knew I needed to birdie to get even with him as I had to count on him making par. I hit a good tee shot, then a 3 hybrid down the fairway to a good layup distance for me. My third shot was 112 yards to a front pin sitting just past a false front. I pulled my 9 iron which was my 115 yard club, but with S&T it is now about 125 yards. So, I choked up one finger and hit it smooth. Weight forward, hands in, tilt, turn, and extend. I hit a sweet push draw that landed two yards past the pin and one yard to the left and sucked back to 4 feet. Drained the putt and with his par, we were tied after one round, me 79, him 81. I shot two under 34 to his 38 on the front nine. Then I started leaking oil. He parred all holes on the back nine, while I struggled with some loose shots. But I also had some bright moments. I birdied #12 from the green side bunker, but then hit a bad toe shot trying to hit a high fade with my five iron. Doubled 13 and then doubled 14. Then after 3 pars, we are on teeing off on the 18th. I'm thinking I just let this one get away but might have a chance if I can do something on 18 again and I get a little help from him. So I bang a good drive down the middle and have my 3 hybrid in hand to lay up to my 9 iron or PW distance. I then promptly topped it about 80 yards. I'm now still 195 out and he is laying 2 about 110 out. Now I need to hit my 3 hybrid 195 yards after just topping it badly. I walk up to the ball telling myself, It's the same swing for all shots, just do it like you know how to do it. Well, I made the best swing of the weekend and that ball sailed towards the right side bunker and then started drawing. It landed just over the bunker, bounds once and then rolled in the hole. Anyway, it was a great shot to lose by one stroke as Mr. Steady Eddie parred 18 to make a clean sweep of the back nine.
      After this weekend, my handicap is now 7.8.
      So, I was wondering does your instructional program include lessons on hitting fades with S&T and anything about the mental game for when the wheels start to come off?

      That's fabulous, Barry - I'm glad to know that my channel's instruction content is resonating well with you!!
      Oftentimes when golfers are hitting everything well except for the longer clubs it can be attributed to one of the following:
      1) They don't start with - or maintain - enough weight on the front side. In general with the longer clubs we should add a little more front weight load at address - more like 60/40 instead of the 55/45 prescribed for the other clubs. This forward weight should gradually increase to the top of the backswing (70/30) and build further on the downswing - approximately 80/20 halfway down, 90/10 impact, and 95/5 finish.
      2) Their hips are not continuing their lateral slide through impact. This is common with the longer clubs as the wider stance means that the hips have a greater distance to travel. If the hips stop moving laterally towards the target on the downswing then their rotation takes over, changing the low point and rerouting the club. This can produce a variety of undesirable results including fat and thin contact, topped shots and popups, straight pulls, and “banana” slices.
      3) They are not allowing the length of the club to dictate the backswing path and are getting too steep as a result. The shaft length of the longer clubs encourages more of an around the body backswing as established by the shaft plane at address. It may "feel" flat as you take it back along the shaft plane for the first few feet, but as long as you maintain the "weight forward, shoulder down, and hands in" components while allowing the club to work around you, it should put you in the proper position at the top so you can attack the ball from the inside.
      By the way, if you'd really like to own this swing through your entire bag please consider enrolling in the SagutoGolf online school as it is one of the best golf instruction values out there. They both simplify and get the club moving. Top notch teachers. Talking about angles and planes and knee bending and hips moving all mostly no help. All that happens because the club swings well, the club doesn’t swing well because of those technicalities. I’m not saying technical stuff can’t help but I would imagine it’s better to make minor tweaks when you can swing it .

    Hi Tom, I had a taste of crispy fried chicken and mashed potatoes and it tasted so good. In the past I would "try" to play golf but had no consistency, I tried something new each time I hit and never knew what I was doing wrong. Today I played golf and I heard the choir of angels. I had my written list of the ten golden Saguto words with me and referred to it often during the round. My score was not the best but I HIT THE BALL! better than I ever have and had two pars! When I paid for the golf I excitedly told the pro who started chatting with me that I was going to try Stack and Tilt and he looked at me all weird and said why would you do that ?? Was not getting you vids, some how notifications got turned off. Love this topic big discovery I made, at least for me was to turn the core more and let the shoulders follow. I could always turn the shoulders but it would lead to ever the top because the core had no tension so it would ruin my sequence. When you demonstrate the turn you stood up and you can see your whole core and shoulders move as one. Probably a whole video in that distinction. Look forward to you back in the notifications.

    Tom, when you do this, are you doing this in conjunction with weight on your left and a straight trail leg as instructed in other videos?

      Nothing changes in those regards, Danny - it's all part of the swing system. I just can't touch on all the components in one video as it would be an information overload. Beyond that, I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible because we're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the desired positions, motions, and ball striking results. This is one reason is why the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of my online school is so effective, and why so many folks across the globe are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result. The lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. Here's a link if you would like to know more about it - saguto.golf - and here's a link to my free mini-course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” if you’re interested in checking it out: go.saguto.golf/

    Please correct me if I'm wrong but haven't you done a video advocating for the club shallowing move on the downswing? I.e. dropping it on the top of swing before starting the downswing.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  3 роки тому

      I'm quite certain there's some content on shallowing here in my Downswing playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLV62KxT7Mp7Jxi814RQddJx3wkHqxqhio.html
      Beyond that it is important to understand that the videos, lessons, and drills on this free channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a sequential learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards learning and owning this swing. For just $10 US/month or $99 US/year you'll have unlimited access to a comprehensive members-only system for the full swing, the short game, and much more. The school's intuitive course layout greatly simplifies the entire process through succinct, step-by-step videos, and I'm regularly adding new content. This will really put you on the fast track towards learning everything in a well-organized, self-guided fashion. Tom, I have tried the single plane swing as taught by Singleplane company, but it hasn't helped . They teach single, but in reality it's 2 plane. I just saw your vieo on take it back, deliver it back....I think yours is truly the single plane idea as Moe Norman saw it in his head!

      Thanks for your comment, Gary!
      The Stack and Tilt swing I teach is definitely different from the "single plane" version and for this reason I do not recommend crisscrossing between the two methods as it would certainly lend itself to confusion. This should not be construed as a knock against this style of instruction; it's simply that the components of this swing style - as you have discovered through your research and experience - are not compatible with S&T, and thus my best suggestion to those who are weighing these two methods is to choose one or the other, but not both!
      Since your due diligence seems to be leading you towards the swing method taught here, I'd like for you to consider enrolling in the SagutoGolf online school. S.G. Are you thinking the same motion/approach for chipping?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf  Рік тому

      There's no reason why one could not utilize this swing methodology as a basic framework for their chipping technique. In fact, the best way to ingrain the full swing motion is to do it incrementally beginning with chips and then moving on to punch shots, pitches, half swings, and so forth.

      I adopted this swing method for playing those low punch shots out of trouble back on to the fairway as I was really inconsistent and flicking wrists at the ball. When I realised that a more connected arm/body swing with no conscious hand action gave me better contact I decided to use in full swing and made a big improvement.
