  • Learning the friction zone is not that hard. Most riders fear dropping and damaging their motorcycle and that is the reason motorcycle riders do not practice slow speed u turns and other slow speed maneuvers. Preloading RPM's is not necessary and will wear the clutch of the motorcycle and the brakes and rotors when practicing slow speed motorcycle turns for hours on end. Learn to use the clutch properly first and then add the throttle and rear brake. Learning to ride a motorcycle does not need to take years to become proficient. If you want to protect your motorcycle from being dropped add motorcycle drop guards which have become a valuable asset to thousands of motorcycle riders all over the world. You can protect your Harley Davidson or Indian motorcycle and protect yourself with advanced motorcycle skills.

I just put my drop guards on my street glide and my confidence went up 100%, and riding the 4th of July parade was awesome! Happy 4th of July to everyone!

I practice Figure 8s almost every time I see enough marked spots open...only takes a second or two to get a couple in, and it's sparked many people into learning how to ride better themselves.

First off " Thanks" but that wasn't the point. I get people who train w me thinking for themselves about what they do in their practice and why they are doing it. There is a difference in practice and focused quality practice. You see that in most riders who take training session, after training session, and still struggle w simple 18 foot u turns, which can and should be learned in about an hour. And within 8 hrs welll u should come train w us and see for yourself.
There were a few lessons here u missed. The first is to get in a parking lot, no cones needed, and no fancy cone patterns set up all over the place, either. Just the basics of tight circles, u turns, and figure 8's. The 2nd lesson was it was a new bike to me at the time, this was my first practice session on this bike, soooo I practiced my total clutch control first to find and establish my knowledge of where the Grey zone was. The next lesson demonstrated was that no high rpms from the throttle were needed as well as no rear brake on a brand new bike to me, if you have learned your skills on the bike you rode before getting a new bike, they quickly transfer to any bike.
It's not always about being told what to do, but about you seeing for yourself what it takes to do what it is you want to do on your bike or anything u wanna be good at.
Hope this helps convey a different way of what u see in videos and the difference it makes w the videos I put out of what my students accomplish quickly and without much struggle.

Now I'm so confused. I've been following g some other pretty damn good riders. R.S. and J.P. to be non specific and have become fairly proficient. I'm so conflicted about what to do now. I'm almost ready to give up as this learning to ride well is not fun and getting way to stressful

@monkeyman41333 I understand how you could be confused. But learning to do slow speed maneuvers should be easy and quickly learned with no stress. It just depends on how the skills you are using to learn the skills. Learning Total Clutch Control first is easier and allows much more control when proper throttle control is utilized and proper use of the rear brake is utilized.
