- Freezing & Chaotic Arrival In Harbin, China. I am here for the Harbin Ice Festival.
My main channel ➡️ @KenAbroad
Harbin in northeast China is actually one of the most popular places to visit in China during winter. The main reason for that is the Harbin Ice Festival that takes places every year here in Harbin. I will show you the Harbin Ice Festival (it's basically a huge city made out of ice) on my main channel in a full video.

🇨🇳 I have a new shorts channel, where I posted this video about how I got food delivered by a robot in China: ua-cam.com/users/shortsbFbzgAZGdVY?si=7yJ-ue4GjDe5ymEy
✅Feel free to subscribe to that channel, if you watch UA-cam Shorts
A very funny scene in the video: You are under a sign, which says that taxis are not allowed to carry passengers here and must enter the underground passage of the station to pick up passengers. So didi drivers keep canceling your order.
if there are a camera watching those drivers will get a ticket, so they just canceling the order and move on.
i would make a traffic jam if the drivers take their passages on the street cause you're in front of a railway station
🤣🤣🤣
🤣Poor Ken
LoL
Fans coming from Bilibili! Most Chinese people cannot access UA-cam on the mainland through the Internet, so Bilibili might be one of the largest communities where we can watch popular UA-cam videos uploaded and translated by "uploaders". Your videos are really well-loved on Bilibili, and the uploader has included the UA-cam link, encouraging us to go to your UA-cam channel.
Yeah your arrival was super stressfull!! But Harbin looks beautiful!

very cold !
right now, the city of Harbin is probably the most popular city on Chinese social media! You made the right choice despite the cold lol ! Wish you a pleasant trip!
Your videos always bring joy to people. If you have time, please go to the 731st Troop Museum. I think it is one of the most important attractions in Harbin. Thank you for your dedication and great work!
👍👍👍731st Troop Museum is the most important attractions in Harbin.

it's so interesting to watch Ken surrounding by Harbin locals who wanted to talk but couldn't. All of you guys are very kind people.
People there are famous for the warmth and hospitality, and chatty
Nice to see you visiting Harbin. Harbin is an aging industrialized city located in Northeast China, so it is not a typical tourist city. Due to the cold climate and the continuous rise of China's coastal cities, the city and the entire Northeast China region have fallen into decline over the past few decades and suffered a serious population outflow. With the coming of winter, this ice city has once again become popular on China’s Douyin, attracting widespread attention from the Chinese people. The government obviously wants to seize the opportunity to drive urban economic growth through ice and snow tourism. Maybe this city will not It is as convenient for international tourists as Shanghai and Beijing, but you still overcome the obstacles and come here. I hope you can experience a different city, enthusiastic people and local culture. bless you
Not really, it IS a tourist destination, and not low on the list. The city was once just a small settlement, then came the October Revolution of Russia. Lots of Russian/Belarussian rich/aristocrats fleed Russia and went to Harbin, and that's why there are lots of Orthodox churchs there, along with other Western architectures. These alone have already made Harbin a tourist destination domestically for decades, let alone the ice festival which has been a thing also for decades.
Awesome video, Ken. The airport, bus station n train station r huge. The interior of the airport is so beautiful. It really amazed me how the people of Harbin can endure the cold. Take care, Ken n happy exploring. 👍🙏
You are a brave person dare to visiting Harbin in winter! I have lived in this city and have a lot of beautiful memories. It is so much changed. I am glad you are here showing us what it looks like in winter. Funning thing is that Harbin is the capital city of the Heilongjiang province, not a small town even in China.
True. but comparing world-wide famous mega-city like Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen or Chongqing, it looks much smaller to foreigners' eyes.
@@woojongson5431ULTIMATELY, SIZE IS ALWAYS, ALWAYS RELATIVE...
Meaning it is Who and Which you are comparing to. Meaning also, something can be Big in one comparison, and Small in another.
Chill😊
@@joyceching6487 Chill? I said "Foreigners' eyes". Try to read it more carefully next time.
I and my wife arrived Harbin from Xian by train,, we stayed YHA hostel near Stalin Park,,, walking distance from Songhua River,, we went side seeing at Ice festival, Sun island, Russian Town and few other places,,
We eaten ice cream in - 30c,,, cool wind blowing from Siberia drop the temperature,,,
Sad thing is St Sofia church being renovated at that time,,
But we visited a few beautiful Mosques and Old Synagogue that turned into theater,,, we also went to old Russian village and meet Russian Chinese citizen at that village,
By the way,, Harbin is a Muslim friendly city,, easy for me as a Muslim to roam around,, there is alot of Halal food restaurant and many Chinese Muslim in the city,,
Language not and issues to us because we Malaysian can speak multi language,, including Mandarin,,,
Stay safe and stay happy 🎉🎉🎉

21:00 these young people really go extra miles to help you understand what you eat. Very cute 😊
Another lovely video in China. Perhaps Harbin is beautifl in winter. Looking forward to seeing you in next videos.
Enjoy your travels! The locals seem friendly there
Here from Bilibili!nc travel videos 🥰 welcome to China❤
Welcome to Harbin. It's cold in Harbin. Please keep warm. Eating habits in northeast China are similar to those in Germany. You can also travel to Shenyang. At the end of the tour, you can visit the 731 Crime Evidence Museum in Harbin. It's free. It contains evidence of the Japanese invasion of China. The Japanese are using the Chinese as laboratory animals. Thank you for coming to Harbin. I hope you have a good time.
Oh wow, this's the longest clip on your 2nd channel. Love watching it as always. Thanks for sharing your journey from Beijing to Harbin. Yeah, that new Beijing airport is super beautiful. You're right, Ken. Those are porcelain vases and can fetch a very high price. As always, you are very calm to find your route/way to your destination/hotel.... advantage of being an experienced traveller. Oh gosh, the lowest temperature that l have had experienced before was 8°C, in Beijing. I was shivering even though l had a few layers of clothing 😄😃 A nice hotel room and that meal of pork looks super yummy. Looking forward to your next video on The Snow and Ice festival in Harbin tomorrow. Thanks again for this interesting vlog with good content. Stay safe and take care, Ken.
Wow! Ken, you are so cool! You have followed up the currently most trendy topic in Chinese social media - Harbin winter travel! 🤩😉😃👍👍👍
Wonderful trip 🎉. Can't wait to watch the next video.
I have also been to Harbin, and it left a very good impression on me. You should try the local famous barbecue, preferably at a crowded place. Be sure to visit the Central Street; it has a unique charm, and nearby, there's the Songhua River.
Pls enjoy your time over there, specially the food. Wonderful place to visit.
The part where you were discussing the pork with the waiter was so funny!
We did same mistake from railway station to that area. There is narrow path under bridge for short cut. Expecting next episode. Good job!Hopefully you have a good time in Harbin. 🎉
Good choice of place to go. Harbin is the most popular city in China now. I was there a month ago. Definitely a special place.
Love visit China soon, seems very interesting
I know you through Bilibili.❤❤❤
14:28 Dear Ken I have to tell you about there is somewhere that taxi drivers can not stop because they’re not allowed to( just watch the blue brand behind you it explains everything)😂I really love your personality and I wish you have a good trip❤ already follow your two channels🎉
Thank you for sharing Ken. Love this beautiful, awesome infrastructure. Have a great time in China 👍
You're naturally funny & nicest westerner tourist. LOVE yr videos❤
In 2007, I traveled to Harbin. Although the ice and snow sculptures at that time were not that big, to me, they were amazing! My friends and I also did some stupid things. We had an ice cream eating competition outdoors at -21 degrees, wearing only short-sleeved clothes, to see who could last the longest. I won the game. I stood for 1 minute and 33 seconds.😂
I went to Harbin to see the ice city. Yep, coldest place I've been so far. Must add, beautiful place to visit.
Most people in China do not have the habit of using VPNs. Some people share videos of foreigners traveling or doing other things by adding subtitles and clips.
20 minutes and you feel the pain from the cold. Exactly the experience for me in the Ice City, so be prepared tomorrow :)
Finally found your second channel, I am very happy that you like my hometown Shanghai. Continue to enjoy your trip to Xinjiang!
Good job, wellcome my friend, you are very frendly...😊
Very nice video! Thank you for showing what China is truly like.
Seeing the clothes you're wearing in Harbin, I know you'll be very cold! Hahaha!
Born and grew up there in harbin, great city to visit for fun in winter, you will enjoy the beer culture there.
I saw your video from Bilibili so come here to support you , love your channel , interesting adventure
Thanks 🙏😊
Interesting journey
Wow,ganda ng Harbin city, with beautiful ice sculfture.❤❤❤Thanks for shar I ng us your adventure in China.❤❤❤H.k
Good evening love and bunches and mail today 🥰🥰
Welcome to China, there are many beautiful cities waiting for you to explore
You got the right dish - GuoBaoRou. I am mouth watering now just by washing it. If the chef can make very good GuoBaoRou, you are in the right restaurant.
Spent Christmas in harbin, loved it so much!!!
Your first video in Shanghai had nearly 800 thousands views and 5200 comments on bilibili
We had around -40c a few weeks ago where I live in Kiruna, Sweden.
This morning we only had around -25c.
You should try riding the sleeper trains in china. These trains will soon disappear due to their age and can really give you a taste of how china was like around 10 years ago.
I have watched several videos of UA-camrs traveling around the world and no other city in any other country surpasses this city in comparison to the following cities in China. These cities are Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Chongqing, Nanjing, Wuhan, Chengdu, and Tianjin. These cities are characterized by their wealthy people, sophisticated cityscapes and futuristic architecture, and societies that have embraced the latest technologies. These cities are some of the most attractive cities in this world today.
Love your video💙💜and yeah looks like someone took your videos and uploaded without asking you😬
Not sure if you're still in Harbin, but you should try their sauerkraut braised pork belly! It's called 酸菜炖白肉. Even though the pickle is a Harbin local food, it taste surprisingly similar to the German sauerkraut!
Thank you 😊😊😊😊
People here love to eat sauerkraut and blood sausage as much as in Germany. Very similar yet different. You should wear thicker clothes as you will experience long queues in popular tourist cities.
Thanks for sharing this awesome experience in Harbin, I like it very much. You have openly explained all the troubles on arrival, which were all good to know as well (especially for me).
I've the impression that maybe the first three taxi drivers that cancelled your request, were afraid of language barrier that might happened. As they know you are foreigner. That's was my positive thought.
Stay healthy and safe in Harbin. Looking forawrd your next vlog(s) from Harbin in you main channel.
No, it's bc he was standing under a sign that specifically says Taxis can't stop there LOL
I saw you video on bilibili,so I come here
The workers at the restaurant are so nice and cute trying to explain him the name of the dish and explaining what part of the pig it is.
Thank you for uploading this video to show my hometown. I haven't been home for two years😭😭Harbin has the most hospital people, they are very chatty and friendly( sadly most of them speak very little English, a lot of them knows Russian and Korean )😂, Guobaorou is my favorite dish, it is very complicated.
Hospital people?? Y mean hospitable people?
Dish is called guo bao rou. Tried it when I went over this year, really nice. There was a morning street food market that was awesome as well. We had to put beer outside to get cold when we there. Loved the trip.
Wow , your travel speed is so fast. I just saw you in Guangzhou, now you are in Beijing airport, and going to Haerbin.
Im watching this from 15 degrees in Spain but could feel the cold.😅 Take care
中国东北地区是同纬度最冷的地区之一。
@@MC连长 我知道。我住过了在上海。 But I was too scared to go to Harbin haha. Beautiful indeed, like all China ♥️
A really fun video to watch. Specially with these curious workers. haha! They finally got someone in college I think who could understand some English....😀
Harbin is a unique city with a lot to offer. I am glad you ventured out there
18:25 My mother (German) also does that even when abroad 😁
Wow, so there is a Harbin Road here in Edmonton, Canada... and there is an Edmonton Rd in Harbin.
Ich kann dir empfehlen Hainan zu besuchen.. dort ist es auch im Winter angenehm warm.. 🥭🌴 Haikou, Wenchang, Sanya, Boao, Wuzhishan, etc..
LG
Welcome to Harbin, my hometown. Enjoy your trip!
21:15 Yum yum..... 🤤🤤🤤
the small bag is Sichuan style pickles
People from North East China are much more outgoing than people in other provinces, each time when I watch the videos about Harbin, the locals make me laugh 😂so friendly and welcoming
chinese from northeast china l& sichuan province( including Chongqing) are generally very outgoing and down-to-earth. there are no intraverts in these 2 regions of china.l
when they meet strangers, they give people the feeling that they have known you for a long long time & they will start chatting with you on and on and on.....😂😂😂
性格直接且热情。
I’m not working on this until service and Friday will have been 🥰
in China, you should use Gaode maps.
Yes Gaode map is most appropriate to us in China and accuracy rate is 100%. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
true
他有下,他说他看不懂上面的中文,这是高德一个不好的地方,打开时应该问用户使用哪种语言

The 5:04 thing is chinese pickle. very delicious when eating with rice or congee
You can go to my hometown, Qingdao, which is influenced by German
The coldest temperature experienced is about like -32f (-36c) when i was camping near the Bering strait in Alaska
ken 吃中餐需要米饭的!
20:42 hahahahahahahha omfg I can’t help laughing here hahahaha so the thing is, this dish is called “锅包肉” GuoBaoRou, yet in northeastern accent Rou is pronounced You(sounds like YO in “Yo what’s up man”) 😂😂😂 holy sh*t this is so classic lmao
我也笑出声。😂😂😂
@@EricChenJan 过于经典哈哈哈哈哈
Trace from bilibili to here. I am happy that you hold such a optimistic emotion after experiencing such an unpleasant accident. Wish you have a wonderful journey in Harbin
BTW, eating Guobaorou(锅包肉)with rice is better.
Great video from my fellow countryman Ken. So assume the Didi drivers cancelled because it is too near from where you were to the hotel. Wouldn’t happen on the US. I had already experienced that someone ordered an Uber for 300 meter distance.
It's his location where taxis cannot park, so taxis cannot go there!
When we visited Harbin it was minus 36 at the ice festival.😮
people in China are warm hearted and kind
Too cold for me……the airport looked really grand. Confusing trying to buy the tickets for the bus. Enjoy your travels there, everyone is very friendly.
I was in Harbin 15 years ago…. Its was -38 deg on the mountain and -28 deg in the town area. …. Cold..cold….
Visted Harbin twice,4 days in winter,2008 and 3 months in summer 2016.Winter very COLD and very HOT in the summer, lol. My wife born in HARBIN.
Love your vlogs will be visiting Shanghai this April and your vlogs are really helpful.

So funny that you said fancy some Chicken after buying some Gucci bags😂 German style humor😂😂😂😂
minus 26c at Daqing North of Harbin. To cold to breath without a mask when I was there.
欢迎来哈尔滨旅游❤❤❤!
Stayed in Harbin in the summer - 30c but not humid - very nice city with plenty of parks and waterways - They are completing Line 3 Metro into an inner city circle while i was there . WIll return for the Ice festival one year.
So hab ich mich in Hiroshima gefühlt. Hat auch so viele Einwohner wie München aber es war total chillig und hat sich im Vergleich zu tokyo oder osaka wie ein Dorf angefühlt
