This is my first arrival in Sanya, China. In this video I take a flight from Hong Kong to Hainand Island in southern China. Hainan Island is also known as the Haiwaii of China because of its tropical climate and beautiful beaches. I'm Indonesian, went to Sanya (and Haikou) ALONE in late 2019, speak no Chinese, with almost zero knowledge about Sanya.
Sanya, turns out, to be one of my favorite city. It is a beautiful city sandwiched between beaches and hills, parted by a river, surrounded by forest. Not too crowded, with a sense of modernism by high-speed rail connectivity and a single tram line.
I followed your vlogs when you're in Indonesia and Philippines, now I'll do that again for this Sanya series. I miss Sanya.
We were just in Sanya last month. One of our favorite stops in our month long trek in China. You literally stayed around the block from where we stayed. Saw lots of Russian tourists and uyghur people dancing in parks and selling street food.
Russians like Hainan very much, especially during Autumn and Winter time, lol, very contrast to their typical weather back home.

Wow, HK airport is massive, modern and very clean. Great that it was a smooth flight and you arrived safely at Sanya without any immigration problem. You can order food delivered to your hotel. Please ask the hotel staff about the apps. They make life much more convenient and less expensive than eating out or in a hotel at late hours.
You can go try out some water sports in Sanya, snorkeling or Jet ski, or para-glide. They are very fun.
Thanks for visiting my home town Ken. Sanya is especially beautiful in the outskirts of the city. Inside city centre you can find heavenly places as well such as Da Dong Hai beach, Sanya Bay, Lu Hui Tou ( deer turning head)mountain for lookout. Weather can be too hot and humid. Winter is the best season to visit. You can swim in the sea water in all seasons.

Ahh next time in China, you should absolutely try out the delivery apps! They're super cheap and can deliver right to your room with the robots that you had shown in other videos.

Next time you may try a similar place called Hawaii, well known as the “Little Sanya” of the States

Ken having a return ticket should never be an issue. Like you I have a tier A passport and I have only been requested a return ticket by immigration once in my life.
However, I will call a legacy carrier like BA, LH, AA and “Purchase” a refundable ticket. Charge it on my Credit Card.
After I arrive, I call and get it refunded!
Never a problem.

Just so you know, Hainan island has a separate visa policy different from the Mainland.
Yes the same countries that get 10day transit visa-free, get 30 days in Hainan, but you can't enter from the mainland, but as the new 10day allows inter-province travel,
making your way to Macua (or H.K more expensive) is easy and then you can fly to Hainan.
For Germans now doenst matter, its even 30 instead of 15 days Visa Free

Hello Ken, great video but I wanted to suggest something. In regards to not being able to translate the text in the app, you could try doing a screenshot of the text then use the image to text function in the translate app.
Try to select the rear side seats. In the case of ......., the probability of surviving is higher.
It is so funny you have to prepare 2 phones to translate food menu 😄

Had that issue in Heathrow a.few weeks ago as I had 1 way too shenzhen she didn't know what too do only till she called manager over and I said I'm going too hong kong they where like have you got train I said no its like underground but I have hk I'd card then he was like that's OK

I’m an American BC, I own a Cybertruck, this vehicle is a major attention grabber. I love to educate people about the car but i absolutely hate the attention it creates. I believe most Chinese (motherland or not), are humble in nature.

your pronounciation of Germany in Chinese is wrong the second word.
For “De”, you are correct.
But for the second work "Guo”, you always pronoun as "Gua".
I think you can try to say groß(German) but wittout the ß sound , it will be much more similar
I think if you say "duh-go" it's close enough. I say "may-go" for USA.

When you speak German in Mandarin, your pronunciation is incorrect. Tone is very important in Chinese, and the meaning will be completely different if one tone is missing.
10:36 OK so never trust those drivers who approach you even in China. Though he used meter in this video but it may be rigged, maybe he turned it to normal as he saw you filming, it’s still risky. Just go to the designated taxi waiting zone or just call a DiDi next time.
(edit) So I checked on my DiDi app and it’s usually 35-40 yuan taking a taxi. The meter was rigged 😂😂😂

I've been to both. Hawaii is dated, old, even ramshackle and rundown. The resorts essentially unchanged. Sanya is better. More life, more recent developments, better resorts, more vibrancy , modernity. Sanya is better.
In the context of that the USA and China are both large countries and Hawaii and Hainan are both Offshore extensions of the countries and have beaches and Tropical Climate. The comparison is very legitimate!
