Hiii ;) i just would like to reiterate once more that i tried this mod because i was curious, but i can assure the one hole tip will suffice! This video is just for comparison. :) You just need to know the basics and improve from then on :) again you don’t need this mod to improve you milk steaming the one hole works just as fine.
as a former barista, I found the single hole steam wand and pressure on the barista express super slow initially but my housemate upgraded the tip to a 3 or 4 hole tip and it's less frustrating for me to use now and I also like it because I can tell at a glance how much of the tip is submerged. I agree the stock tip is perfectly fine and much more forgiving. great video!
Fantastic..... straightforward comparison and relevant points about the differences and outcomes. Good honest demonstrations of practice makes perfect.
I just bought the 3 hole steam tip from Amazon. I tried it and this video showed exactly what results I was getting. I'll stick to the single hole steam tip.
I’ve just put a 4 holes wand today and boy did it heated up quickly!!! But I totally agree with you that, although I might screw a couple of milk, it’s definitely an upgrade!! Thanks for letting me go to sleep with my conscience in peace 🤣☕️🙌🏼
Wow! I thought the 3 hole tip would not have adequate pressure to properly swirl and heat the milk. Guess I was wrong as practice seems to create a "level playing field." Thank you, great insight.
do you have one already? :) try positioning the 3 holes like a triangle with one hole on top introducing air the other 2 submerge :) but i think if you practice more with the 1 hole its more steady and also produce a silky textured milk.
I am an amateur and I use breville 920 which comes with 3 holes. I have tried to make it 2 holes by using a toothpick to block the lowermost hole , and also tried a 3rd party 4 hole tip. The 2 hole tip yielded a much finer microfoam albeit taking a longer steaming time.
Thank you for sharing your experience :) yes a bit tricky trying to find the level of tip placement on the milk surface to produce finer microfoam using the 3 hole tip
Yup... The one hole tip that comes stock with the machine is extremely annoying because of that ridge - very hard to clean the milk off the tip. Such a silly design flaw, it should be smooth surface to make wiping the hot milk easier. For this reason I'm switching tip
Hello, thanks for sharing the video. I didn't know you could buy a 3-hole version of the milk steam wand. I own a Breville Barista express 840XL (without built in grinder). I have been learning how to pour latte art for 6 months, but couldn't get it right. I bought a 20 oz Rattleware RW milk jug and 2x 6oz cup. Every time, I steam the milk enough to pour 2 cups of 6oz cup (2x practice), and I use whole milk. the first pour always has lots of milk foam, the second pour seems a bit better but sometimes it is too watery. Any idea what I did wrong? is it milk steam technique or milk jug size? or something else? Thank you.
hi! :) for the lever I knew someone who received their cremacoffee order after a month or so (maybe because of the pandemic) and its going to be delivered last mile by Philpost, i think u also need to pay 112 pesos.
I seen a few different 3/4 holes steam heads. Some with close holes like this one, and some with wider spaced holes more outward pointing. Is the foaming technique any different from these and a single hole, or is position and everything else the same?
Loved this! I'm still not consistent with my steaming, I have a tendency to over stretch, so the 3 hole is probably a step too far just now. What's the benefit of transferring to a clean jug?
Yes! You can do good milk texture with just the one hole tip! I was just really curious 🧐 The reason im transferring is because im comfortable steaming with the stock breville jug, its small and i can feel that it doesnt easily get hot unlike the wpm milk jugs Also i like to pour using a slightly bigger jug so i can have a more control :) i cant steam with bigger milk pitchers i get inconsistent milk texture when i use it >.< so thats the way at it for me :)
I've got a similar issue, mostly because the pitcher doesn't have markers, so I put the milk a pinky below the bottom of my spout. That quickly gets covered by milk. Stop stretching when it hits 100f or when it hits the appropriate amount of milk for the drink.
Hii ☕️ actually i got 4 hole from AliExpress but I don’t know its really hard to understand it, milk get hot so fast and there’s bubbles.. so iam still with the basic one hole .. i have question about this steam lever is it makes and difference or just shape only .. thank u 🙏🏻
I have a 4 holes and i just put it on and its really hard and sometimes my coffee gets really bad can you make a video how to make a cup of coffee with 4-3 holes?
In theory yup pressure is supposed to be less since its coming out from more holes. For the water drop i usually purge the steam wand first to get rid the water condensation in the wand before i put it in the milk
@@PatTuazon thanks. But I can't seems to be able to frost the milk like the 1 hole. I tried a lot of ways but the milk doesn't come out nice. I'm not too sure how. Anyway my 3 holes is very different as the hole are on the side instead of all in the center.
@KenWei: I also have the 3 holes but that version in which the holes are facing outward don't work. They really need to be centered. Unfortunately I wouldn't know how to order this one as shown in this video. I don't see an option shipping to the Netherlands 🤔
All the tips I can find are 4-hole and a lot of people say that the Barista Express isn't powerful enough for a 4-hole. :-( I guess I could get one for the double boiler.
I was searching for this video since 2 weeks, commercial machines use 3 or more nozzles but at same time the frother pressure is much stronger, but i noticed since its 3 nozzles they put the wand a bit off center and it run a high vortex in all directions maybe you shoud try moving the wand a bit far from sides , excellent video unique from others👍
Depends on your milk steaming technique with the one hole tip, if you’re already accustomed to the one hole wand it will have a big difference in terms of the texture of the milk (better rolling = better mixing) and the time needed to steam(heats up the milk faster), but if still new to milk steaming and u immediately changed the tip of the Barista express with this one, i think theres not much of a difference with the result. Hope this helps
hi :) you mean the 4 holed steam tip? that i haven't tried but for the 3 hole think of it as 1 hole introducing air while the 2 submerged holes is creating a vortex = more time to mix all those created microfoam :) plus i noticed using it makes heating milk faster

Nice. Bought a new machine with much more pressure and 3 holes. A little difficult now after low pressure and 1 hole wand. More practice!)

Easy clean...soak it in hot hot HOT water for a while..enjoy your coffee...use a knife or such on the flat sides of the tip...
Love it! Could you please link that steel coffee grinds cup ? Thanks
hi sure :) its from www.cremacoffeepro.com/collections/tools-for-breville/products/54mm-dosing-cup

OMG! Im glad you uploaded this video. I was curious about the 3 hole tip as well. Is there a link for US purchase? Thank you for the detailed video.
Hi! Will let you know if i stumble upon a store in the US that sell them :)
hello! im planning on doing this upgrade since the original 1 hole takes too long to heat milk, so does the 3 hole tip make heating faster?
Can you list the website of where you bought that tip?
Hi, could you upload a tutorial fot steaming milk with this mod?
What scale are you using to weigh out your coffee?
I am using the 3 holes but it seems like the pressure is being impact slightly and i don’t just get steam but also water drop.
