    In the old days I use to teach friends to hang your Temp/Hum gauge at canopy height and mark the string at different distances so as the plant gets taller you can maintain the distance.
    Now with a par meter I tie a string to the light, and mark downward the Par levels.
    MAJOR POINT: it's not linear. The distance between 1400 and 1300 is much narrower than 800 to 700.

    over , stretch her out as flat as normal .Flat canopy , good food , stay clean and you would be shocked on what they can do & produce .Way more than the internet would like to admit.

      Adjusting brightness is the WORST advice I was ever given actually. Grow tent has alot of knowledge, but not as much as he thinks lol. Think about this, if you start a seed under a stronger light, it'll adjust quickly and there won't be any chance of light burn or stress. What happens when you keep adjusting, theyll say wtf just happened, and you'll see negative effects.

      Most lights have a specified range for the light. Marshydro usually has 18" specified. You will also notice the more powerful lights are designed for use with co2. So to make it simple like he would, beginners have beginner skills, they don't have the nutes, the co2, the ph, etc... as those things are learned the feed is richer and therefor experts can handle more light. Just like the plants we start small and pray upward and as we grow we can handle more. One guy just pours a pitchers worth of tap water on his plant, while the other is adding chlorine remover with aloe, brewing a tea, adding liquid silica, adjusting the PH and watering 5-10% volume of water per volume of soil 1-2 times a day. The sun is shining and co2 is raining from the heavens.
      Jumping into par and parts per million is on some deep water culture Einstein level. It's kind of like a boat, if you have to ask how much it costs you can't afford it. The details you are looking for are so specific that you should already know them because you are at the highest level of performance. He is keeping it simple and those specifics are of a complexity at a masters level.
      I hope that helps some so you don't worry to much about the finite details, yes they are important, but most important is the vibe you bring to your grow. If they are happy, you are happy, and the dance goes on and on. You feel what they want and need and your generosity is paid in kind. Don't stress, just take baby steps and you will make accomplishments the likes of What About Bob!

    What is the reasoning behind light intensity and number of plants? Like how does the presence or absence of tent partners have any effect on light demands of a single plant? Like one small plant in a 2x4 or that same small plant in a 5x5, whether it be all alone or has 3 friends in there with her, how does that effect her individual needs for light intensity?

    GT , Thank you for this information, I was able to snag this on your 420 special and while I was already passed it in my grow I’m following it for the remainder. By any chance can you do a video with regards to proper light height for LED lights During all stages of the grow?

    GT great info as always ... I train my girls hard to horizontal branches with nice results, except after listening to you I now realize why my stretch is always lacking... I want a 2 foot canopy wall to wall as well GT !!! Its funny because the same plants from the same batch of seeds is stretching unbelievable outside.. Gotta love this plant, anyway..... So the Mars hydro is going from 75% to 50 % at day 40 of VEG. Will bump back up 2 weeks into flower as they are stacking hard right now , most of which will be pruned off I'm sure, but healthy :)
    Thank you and I will follow up with the result :)
    Happy growing, there is no better Therapy !!!

      So how did it work.for you? My plants are happy but they just stay super short. I'm in like week 8 of veg and they are only at 16 inches. I guess I should turn down the light and ease up on the watering. Maybe they will stretch more

    I don’t agree with you on the light dial turning. You should probably be turning it 2-4 x a day like 50/75/100 like the sun rises. Every 2-1/2 hours a day like the sun moving around a day.

    • @WelcometoTheGrowTent
      @WelcometoTheGrowTent  Рік тому +1

      But the intensity of the sun changes throughout the year. It reaches max intensity in the middle of the summer. So Turning your light up to max power everyday makes no sense

    19:27 So I thought about it for a second and here's what I thought.
    As I understand it the plant "sees" umols/m^2
    or light provided by surface area.
    Let's say light at 100% = 100/area
    we turn that down to 50% so we have 50/area.
    But our canopy is only 50% full so our plant is only seeing half of the light provided.
    What happens in we move that same exact plant in a smaller space but now the plant is using the entire space with the same theoretical light?
    Looked at from a different angle.
    What is the target plant PPFD and DLI? What does the light we have provide?
    If the light provides a maximum of an average 800 µmols/m2/sec with our target a 12 hour 34.5 DLI and our target PPFD healthy growth at end flower is 800 for but we put the light at half maximum power ( 400 µmols/m2/sec ) that provided a 12 hour DLI of 17 and 400 PPFD.
    Sounds like veg growth intensity to me and resulting in an drastically underperforming plant.
    Did I get some numbers wrong here or am I overlooking something?

    • @gaslampnation735
      @gaslampnation735 Рік тому

      I don't think this is a numbers channel. Frankly, even I'm kind of burnt out by everyone asking the same questions as if one would ask a yoga guru how many seconds one should breath in to aquire the perfect breath. Just breath my friend, your body will tell you. You are alive and can be intune with everything.

    • @roberttomsiii3728
      @roberttomsiii3728 Рік тому

      @@gaslampnation735 @GasLamp Nation I understand your position.
      I am aware the typical audience for this channel may not look in at those minute details. I feel being overly concise with my language is better than lacking in adequate descriptors to convey the concept.
      How might such a question, that walks an individual though the logic I followed to reach my conclusion, be better phrased?
      Regardless of if I was excessive in detail for my example the underlying questions remains the same.
      Was there some flaw in my logic? If so, then I need help to find it please
      If there is not then is it possible for both my logic and his statement to be true? If it is so, then again I am having trouble seeing how.
      I possed a question to further my understanding despite understanding this channel takes a more whimsical laid back approach. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I am quite laid back with my efforts but I still want to understand.

    One important detail is missing
    ...what height is light in this sample? It will also have an affect on the power of the light

    Great tips here! I’ve watched a lot of videos dealing with lights. This one’s probably the most useful one I have seen about reading plants instead of DLI. A lot of us don’t have PAR meters and even if we do, we usually don’t have any info on what readings that cultivar or pheno likes. That’s why this video is gold
