I've used black 3.0 to dot the ends of weapons instead of drilling barrels. I've also used it for space backdrops. It's very matte but isn't great for a surface that will be handled.
Please continue this series. Red, green, blue etc... also would be good to see you use citadel base paints instead of layer especially if you're judging coverage so heavily.
Army Painter Matt Black and Scalecolour Flat Black were greatly missed in this video, but good to know Vallejo still produces one of the better blacks all around
Well done and informative as always! I learned so much this time - the best black paint, the word “suckish”, and that Alex Popov is in fact a hummingbird! And for those of you who enjoy black licorice, check out “Moxie” soda; the recipe is like 150 years old and it’s hard to find outside of New England, but it’s essentially a strong, licorice soda.
I really enjoy those videos, and I noticed you improved some details each time. So my question is: would it be possible to get an edited close up view of your painting once your done painting? For my part, sometimes I lack of a visual support to understand 100% your judgement or depiction. Thx for all.
I'm using Vallejo Model Color Black today and that's because I've heard great things about it, but I've only really tested it against Army Painter which I didn't like. AK is one of the brands that I have had the best results with, so I will definitely buy it and try it out. When are you going to try Magenta?
Great video which black is best, even better to watch you two (mostly Dakotah) get the paints so wrong. Me sitting here thinking “psssh of course it Citadel, so obvious” while having absolutely no idea what I’m talking about.
Green Stuff World has a very dark black but it brings up the point of airbrush and durability. Some of those black darkest style paints are not durable.
It's about the same in most of your reviews here: It comes down to not doing significant testing on the back of the hand or something like that to verify the thinning levels you actually have, so you end up with paints that are borderline mangled. Two thin coats from ProAcryl are iffy? Yep, you are thinning it all the way to separation. Abaddon at the bottom? Yep, it's in the opposite direction of thickness, so you also mess it up. So no wonder you are surprised: In the real world you are trusting the pot than you are trusting your eyes on the palette, so every paint ends up where it should, and suddenly you'd rank them differently. It's quite possible to get the layers down right, but the fact that so many paints end up either being bad with two thin coats, or with the thicker ones, is telling me 99% of what we are seeing is user error. Have you tried painting one of this tablets AFTER you know which color it is? I bet they'd look different.
We 100% test the consistency of each paint before we put it on our testing stick. Thats the power of editing. Its a boring step. Dry times are heavily edited as its not good for the show. The point of these tests are to paint everything consistently in the same way. Without knowing the brand so that we have no biases, and I feel every single paint has had a fair shot and there has been a clear and oustanding winner every episode.
Love this series, hopefully the algorithm picks it up!

Subscribed! Love this type of comparisons, great production values. Just try to get the camera more into focus :)
Big fan of your content! We have plans to do just that

Army painter black is tested in episode 7a
Scake color will get tested the next time we test black
I love these!!! More!😊
Also, it would be awesome if the camera was closer to the samples. Difficult to see what you are talking about
Favorite not tested Is army painter matt black
Army painter black gets tested in episode 7!
Honestly I've used most of these and I liked apple barrel black the most especially for the rims of bases
Cant wait for that to be on our next episode for black

You should try coal black from P3 paints if you can find it. It's a really unique black
I love coal black!
We are waiting for p3 to release thier new formula which is supposedlybin the works. P3 Coal black is one of my all time fav paints

Vantablack is the forbidden black that G mentioned.

If the question was "how black could you paint a mini?"...
Next episode when? What color? Plz do yellow. 👍
Vallejo Model Color Black is superior to the Game Color version, and should have been the one present instead.
We will test that in our next black episode!
