I used to work for Clovarity as an editor, they offered me 150 bucks for 4 long form videos a month, at first I did it cuz I needed quick money but then I tried to negotiate because that was simply not enough, but Gad was like "when you get better at editing we'll pay more." But when you want high quality videos weekly I need more than 150, so I left, Castle and Gad have no business in Esports
I used to do montages for clovarity too, I was paid 80 for the first one and told that the maximum they could pay was $10 for weekly montages, i ended up just leaving after finishing 3 edits.

Awesome video. I wish you would subtitle the anonymous sources you put a voice modulator on though because i struggle to understand what's even being said.
I agree with you that subtitles should have been included in the video. However, I wanted to say that I turned on the closed captions that are on most UA-cam videos and it automatically provided subtitles. I thought I'd let you know in case this ever helps in the future. Have a great day/night! :D
I've known this doc was coming for some time, but its incredible how much I didnt even know happened. I wasted so much of my time and energy consulting castle, and he did the polar opposite of everything i said. Hopefully, new org owners can learn from this video and make better decisions for the betterment of esports.
The modulated voice is too distorted to passively understand and needs subtitles. Other than that this is phenomenal, best doc yet and some really good investigative journalism.
Thank you, absolutely a fair criticism, it was very hard to make sure the identities of the ppl weren’t given away, while making sure they can be heard properly. I’ll work on that balance in the future 👍
@@mouldy_shoe im not sure if this is something you would want to try out, but ive seen people do more TTS voices now for "anonymous" voice overs. It's actually admirable how you took so much time to actually talk about the story of a bunch of no names, both from an org managing perspective and from a pro player perspective too. I follow RLCS very closely, the matches that is, not the useless drama on twitter. And I've never even heard about this org whatsoever. They are probably only known in the veeery deep undergrounds of NA. Anyone who isn't focusing on mid tier teams wouldn't know about them. Nice vid. Liked it.
I was in a previous Org that Gad founded as well called Doom Esports that also fell through in 2020-2021. That fell through because a younger girl in high school was made a higher up in the org’s staff. I was also in Spate when the merger happened. Was dropped as a content creator once I joined the Clovarity discord because I “didn’t have the following.” Interesting story and loved hearing this!
Very well laid out. As an industry veteran I tried to uh... council Castle near the start of the ridiculousness on Twitter. Pointing out that no, they were not in fact a 'six figure org' because that was how much they were paying their players... That fundamental lack of knowledge of how the financials worked? No idea how anyone could put any stock in anything they did. We need to do better at blacklisting these people.
As someone who used to be in the bubble eSports scene, it's sad to see how this affected my man Thomas. We knew each other from back when I was a corporate staff member at Volt Esports in RLCS X under a different name, and to see how this affected him... it just ain't fair. It's sad how this partly led to his retirement from management, he deserved better for all the effort he put in.

I feel like there isn't enough attention being put on Steven. It's absolutely apparent that Steven knew that the other business was a MLM. He did his best to sell it to others in the org, saw dollar signs and went ahead without thinking of any ramifications. He went about this like someone who goes around to individuals (mainly older folks), does to sell a product. Not realizing that once it gets thrown into a spotlight, the issues compound and multiply. Even in your interview with him he was trying to sell the idea *to you*. I doubt he's even stopped shilling that company to others. This Steven character was not looking for the betterment of anyone in the org but himself. "We didn't see any problems. " You can tell by his hesitation and how he talks that he's lying. The others higher ups might not have know, but he absolutely did. He knew there could be a problem, but he wanted money. As soon as Steven had pushed all of this, he should have been ousted from the company. Gad is just willfully ignorant to everything that takes any amount of time to think clearly about. He's claims innocence through ignorance, and he'd much rather shift blame than take the blame and learn from it. And Castle had no business being in the esports scene. Dude was woefully uninterested in actually building an organization. He just liked making money easily.
Couldn’t have said it better myself, to add to that, notice the amount of times Steven uses the word ‘we’ in the 7kMetals chapter, compared to the amount of times Gad specifically named Steven, gives a real insight in how that deal was done
Most orgs in rocket league dont tend to pay their players/employees properly. Ill use myself as an example a while ago i was a freestyler and content creator for an org never got paid a dime in 6 months when i got around like 10-25% of their popularity (around 100 players into their servs) they said theyd pay me around 1.5k based on what i had already done i still havent gotten paid and apparently many other the gfx and vfx designers also werent paid
Maybe put someone else in charge of spending your "hard earned" money until you get older, since you can't seem to handle that responsibility. Which isn't surprising at all given you're 18 BRO!
I had some interactions with castle every time we talked he didn’t seem angry or stressed but then idk what happened but smth did and we stopped talking
Great video, you are easily the best story teller in rocket league rn but can I just say one thing if you use the anonymous voice again, can u use a different one or put subtitles please
Thank you so much, and yes I will work on that anonymous voice, it was very hard to balance hiding the voice and making it easy to hear, as many ppl I interviewed have very distinctive voices. Will work on it in future vids like this 👍
Hey there! This is a great video, but any of the anonymous voices that were pitched down to mask their identity are a bit difficult to understand. I think if you pitch them up a bit more, it would be easier to get what they are saying. Understandable if you don’t want to reupload the video to fix this because you already got 18k views, but maybe something to consider in the future if you make more of these type of videos.
Yeah this was something I grappled without through making the vid, some of the anonymous sources have very distinctive voices, so getting the pitch right without making it hard to understand was a challenge. In future like others have suggested I’ll use subtitles, but thank you for the feedback, it rly helps me and the channel :)
Honestly I’ve always had an interest in mysteries and history, storytelling in general. Rocket league has loads of this, so it’s a natural thing for me
Yeah it was rly tough to make sure no one could recognise them with it being hard to hear, particularly when some ppl have rly distinctive voices. Tried to balance it as best I could, but definitely will work on it in the future 👍

I had some interactions with castle every time we talked he didn’t seem angry or stressed but then idk what happened but smth did and we stopped talking
Wake up, Mouldy shoe has posted.
W vid Mr. Shoe
What you could do is transpose their statement (I.E write down exactly what they said) then have a voice actor or a celebrity A.I read them
That is definitely something I’ll explore in future videos 👍
10:40 that's Drake bro
I JUST REALISED THAT THESE DUDES SAID 250$ IS EXPENSIVE FOR A 3D VIDEO 💀💀
W video hate that org
Great video, you are easily the best story teller in rocket league rn but can I just say one thing if you use the anonymous voice again, can u use a different one or put subtitles please
Thank you so much, and yes I will work on that anonymous voice, it was very hard to balance hiding the voice and making it easy to hear, as many ppl I interviewed have very distinctive voices. Will work on it in future vids like this 👍
So Loosid looks exactly like Drake?
what a video
im dead
YES
You need subtitles for that pitched down voice. I don't understand anything
Mouldy, what motivates you to make videos like this?
Honestly I’ve always had an interest in mysteries and history, storytelling in general. Rocket league has loads of this, so it’s a natural thing for me
@@mouldy_shoe that's cool, thanks for sharing 😊
i honestly like gad
to
me it seemed like at clovarity the real owner was castle the whole time and gad was kinda a figurehead
OH BROTHER. THIS ORG STINKS!
cant forget g1!
Don’t worry, I’ll touch on them in the future…
holy..
sounds like a bunch of college gamers pretending to do business with each other to just feel like they’re “entrepreneurs” wow so cool
Shit I was getting hit by a tornado every other day in 2022 definitely not even close to a good summer for the US sped!
Damn sry to hear that, that’s fucked 💀💀💀
it wasnt realize ian and guh it was realize scrzbbles and guh
In the end it’s shitty but everyone in this story are just kids expect 7K hope they learn from all of this
The anonymous' voice is a bit to low to easily understand unfortunately
Yeah it was rly tough to make sure no one could recognise them with it being hard to hear, particularly when some ppl have rly distinctive voices. Tried to balance it as best I could, but definitely will work on it in the future 👍
@@mouldy_shoe Makes sense. You could put subtitles for these sequences, then people can choose between listening and reading ;)
That is something I’ll implement for sure :)
Brite!
these wages are a joke, just a bunch of kids playing adult with fancy job titles
Hey Logan here. Sent you a Twitter DM could you take this down please
Org run by clueless kids is being shit? Color me surprised
