Wirtual has been a shortcut speedrunner for almost his entire TM career. Most of his history videos are shortcuts for that reason, he's presenting his homefield :)
TrackMania is actually an excellent illustration of "no shortcuts to success". Each one of these achievements took their authors thousands upon thousands of hard work.

@@wadimek116 A real testament to human ingenuity. Pioneers discover, practitioners perfect, and observers record while researchers analyse. All while we benefit from the commercialised final product.
"thousands of hard work"? If you meant hours: No. It took them only the knowledge someone most likely found by accident, of how the engine kill tiles work and/or experience with / watching youtube where walls knock you towards certain directions. Then finding a way to apply that to this track, then some practice runs depending on how good they are at using these methods. Yes it's the combined experience of players that gave us this knowledge, but that's first of all not by "authors", and secondly you're implying it ook individual authors thousands of hours of hard work. There's 8000+hours in a year, no single individual spent almost 3 hours a day, every day, no skipped days, for a whole year, just to find a skip for this track. Thousands of minutes sounds about right, but kinda undermines your point. Tortugo surely is someone with a lot of experience on tracks, so it's very likely he instantly thought of his skip when he found this track, but after the updates, it was not as easy. Also, the maker of the map just kept shifting the goalposts each time someone found a skip, so that's hardly fair. Life's goals don't just move away from you after you reach them by taking a shortcut. xD But other than that, sure it did take some effort to find and use the other shortcuts, even though they didn't need to sit in front of their screen while waiting. xP

He didn't beat it by 15 hours and 41 minutes; he beat it by 16 hours, 12 minutes, and a few seconds (like..5 seconds. I've done a lot of math today and I don't want to do anymore!)
Not really important though, as those two numbers mean the same thing in context: "he beat it by a lot"
nope, he beat the world record by 15 hrs, the blue numbers shown on his screen are how much time he saved from his previous personal best. they aren't even a run time, thats how much of a shortcut he did on his own run, which wasnt the world record. you can see the minus sign in front of the blue numbers which you subtracted from
The fact that player named tortuga (turtle in spanish) beated the turtle strategy with such a great jump i just amazing.
6:33 that shot is incredible
Philosophic question: is this really a shortcut? It saves time, yes, but the distance travelled is identical.
@RaiUwU skip and shortcut mean the same thing. It’s a timesaver
It is not a philosophical question, it is a linguistic question... and so you are wrong.

#2: a method that reduces the time to accomplish something
@@Baerchenization so when two runners go on same straight track of 100m you can say that the fastest one took shortcut?
Remember that different runners uses different running styles so indeed "method" also matters.
@@gigatrihard8607 No, that is not what I said. How it is not clear what I said? I said he does not understand the meaning of the word shortcut. You also do not understand the meaning of the word shortcut, or else you would not have asked me this.
@@Baerchenization bro, I asked question, I didn't made statement.
Again.
How "shortcut" using exactly same track but different moving method, just like in running is any different from mine analogy?
Yes I do not understand so that is why I ask questions bruh.
I cant be the only one listening to Wirtual when trying to fall asleep. His narration is perfect for bedtime stories.
Wirtual's videos are like mini documentaries
The guy who created the 16 hour track is the guy who zaps the fun out of everything.
If I was in his position after the grass hole problem I'd make sure to "accidentally" change something or mess something up after each patch to get people to be creative with their shortcuts.
I think it was more about challenging people to be clever and find new methods, not just being butthurt and fun-hating. Once the shortcut was found, the map would be pointless, so it seems like more of a little back-and-forth challenge to see what people could figure out
I appreciate the map makers commitment to the bit of only adding bandaid solutions to see how it would get more shortcuts.
here before the algorithm mass recommends this video
Caleb Montgomery same, came from discord :)
34 minutes before the algorithm brought me here
Is it just me or is Wirtuals voice nice to listen to when he's narrating the story?
Idk why i dont really follow all your videos and i dont like the game but whenever i want to go to sleep it just keeps me concentrated on the video and i sleep really well thank you
9:03 lol he mad
UA-cam casually recommended this to me, I have no idea what trackmania is but I had to listen to the algorithm god
lmao same
I did not even play this game once but your videos are so well rounded and built that i watch erry one of em
Seems like a bar over the engine-off would still work as shortcut-proof.
I have never heard of this game before, and I randomly had your video recommended to me. I have binge watched all day its super interesting and your narration is top notch!! And you have a new sub
9:22 finally a greek shortcutter in a wirtual video
so painful to watch when you realize how many trials, time and luck it takes - this is amazing
“All that matters is your time at the finish line”
*cheats*
before finding this channel, i literally had never heard of trackmania. now i am hooked on your content. great.
6:20 actually it's 16 hours and ~13 minutes.
Haha exactly...You're taking 46 SECONDS from ~16hrs 13 minutes 40 seconds, not taking 46minutes. Ha.
He's a mix between fit MC and summoning salt with his style of TrackMania content
I don't even play TM but the way you tell the story...keeping me watching everything

that video aged like fine wine
@@zedarkpatator4819 yeah indeed.
The Summoning Salt of Trackmania, now all you need is the original soundtrack
Igntul and FWO seem like the perfect duo of unstoppable force and immovable object.
A track maker dedicated to creating an unskippable marathon taking on a team of pros looking to do the impossible and find a way to cut through the gordian knot of a track. Each one innovating, testing themselves to outwit the other.
