Honestly one of my favourite golf channels on youtube, relatable for us non-scratch golfers, humble, straight to the point. Keep up the good work hope you blow up!
Im late but I just want to say that your videos are fantastic. I just started seriously getting into golf a year ago and watching your videos helped me break 100 for the first time a few weeks ago…although that was immediately followed by one of the worst rounds of my life. Golf! Haha but as someone who is a creative themselves, keep up the great work. And thank you
22 years old, beginning my second year playing golf, and your distances are about exactly the same as mine! Awesome to see that someone who hits it the same distance as me can shoot in the 70's. (Personal best is currently an 85)
recently bought from a pawn shop a set of calloway hawke eye vft including a big Bertha driver and fairway metals. Best golf purchase I have made so far. Probably not quite same driving distance but it is winter / very wet and the courses I play are not quite so well manicured
Best advice in this video, once you find a putter you're comfortable with, stick with it. I've had my Scotty 2.5 Newport for 7 years and will send it back to Scotty Cameron to refinish when the time comes.
Loving the content man! My yardages for my clubs are all a bit longer by 10-20 yards but you shoot a much better game than me! Really motivates me though that i could one day play as well as you can. Would love to get a chance to shoot a round in the lower mainland with you one day.
I look forward to viewing more of your content. I too have been playing golf for only 4 years since I retired at age 64. Your comment about buying twice is apt, but for me it should be 4 times, not twice! The fitting I got when I bought my first and third set of clubs was sub- standard to say the least. As I improved I worked out what I needed and eventually I collected a set of clubs that is working for me. I think it needs to be said that it a club isn't working for you, try something different rather than letting your ego prevent you from improving.
@@NotAScratchGolfer The first " fitting" was at a retail chain store, where they assisted me in selecting a " box set" . The second I thought I knew what I wanted (a Cobra F9 set) and I got it, but probably it wasn't what I needed. That is, instead of a 3 wood, a 5 iron( 22 degree) a six iron at 25 degrees, I would have been better served with a 5 wood and two hybrids. It wasn't mentioned despite my modest swing speed.
Great stuff Adam. Really enjoying the content and very interesting to hear your thought process on your bag and ball. Couldn't agree more about TXG - Ian has opened my eyes and mind to modern tech and fitting. My numbers are very similar to yours and I'm returning to regular golf after 10+ years away (former 7 hcap, now 14.5). I've started the process of upgrading and fitting to replace my 15 year old bag of Cleveland Launcher 10.5 with 55r shaft, X-hot 15 degree, Heavenwood hybrids (20 and 26), X16 irons (5-SW), Cleveland 588 wedges (56 and 60) and Ram zebra putter. Started with TSi2 9 degree neutral A1 setting and love the Tensei blue 55s shaft. Putter is next - if I could putt like you, I'd be back in single digits next week.
As a 65 year old playing golf for 35 years this channel is very refreshing. I have a fitting scheduled for TXG soon and I too am short. It should be interesting to see what they suggest for irons and driver.
@@lakedog3616 My experience with PXG was great. The only thing I changed was the grips. They are all black and the colour transferred to my glove so I installed Golf Pride CP2 wrap grips. With the proper fitting, my irons are now flat on the ground where as in my previous set the toe was up and I hooked the ball. My hcp has dropped and my confidence has increased.

You hit hybrid so often that it would pay dividends for your game. Modern Golf is great. Not TXG level but as close as it gets around Van!
love your channel man! if you throw a butt extension in the 3 hybrid it will play slightly softer in flex. costs like $25 to do it yourself (including a new grip) super easy.

Great video thanks for the tips!! Amen on the putter advice. Been rocking an odyssey toe up for 4 years (pretty sure I’m the only one in the world using this as it was discontinued since it was so unpopular) but tried switching to a Scotty just because of the name value. Absolutely hated it and switched back in a week lol
Quick question about when to go get a fitting done. At what point when you start golfing should you do it? Say you already have a basic box store set and you’re just starting out, should you get your swing more consistent first or if you’re planning to put time/effort/money into the sport should you just spend the money up front?
Definitely get a consistent swing first or at least one where you can hit the ball. Reading posts by fitters they say they can't fit someone who shanks every second ball
I'm no expert so don't take my word as gospel, but I think a fitting may be worthwhile once you are at least making decent contact and have a semblance of yardages on your clubs. If you're still at the stage where these things are too variable, then I think improvements in technique are probably more important than having a better fit set of clubs. Just my $0.02.
Hey Adam! If you don't mind me asking - what's your height and swing speed? I have a feeling that we might be around the same height, so I wanna see what sorts of speeds I can be aiming for...
I know this comment is posted months after your video - however, I STRONGLY recommend you give Kirkland Signature 3-piece V2.0 Urethane Cover Golf Balls a try.
Formerly worked in tech sales, but the channel has taken over these days. Shaughnessy happened to be running a great promo when I joined (thanks to their uncertain timeline). It was actually economical for me to join there once I started playing golf 10+ times per month.
A lot of people swear by Modern Golf, but I was unimpressed with my experience there. I think it depends on which club(s) you're looking to fit for, your budget, and goals. A lot of the big brands do fitting days at the munis, and I think those are a good start.
@@NotAScratchGolfer I’m not quite sure what specs are lol. But my dad told me that his 7 iron has the same loft of 9 iron of 2020 clubs and so on and so forth on other clubs. So if I’m hitting a 5 iron on my dads clubs it’s like hitting a 7 iron with modern clubs. They are Ping Eye 2 irons. Fun and cheap to play with tho lol
Adam you need to fix your set up bro!!! and dont use "Im not good enough to notice the difference" or any other excuse cuz thats bullcrap!! cuz even guys like us(20ish Handicappers) can 100% benefit from fitted clubs/shafts. it will ABSOLUTLY make a difference to get those stiff shafts off your hybrids and also to adjust the shaft lengths and weights. by the way i use Kirkland balls(I love them).!!
What did you do to your Scotty!!! 😭 the grip!!!! Nooooooooo lol jk my man cannot go wrong with a Scotty! But seriously the grip 😂 if I came like that I forgive you! Just give me your patron so I can send you some cash to send her into Scotty to get fixed up 😜 and you can totally play a Pro V1!!!
IMO most “recreational “ golfers do not have a consistent enough swing for a “fitting “ to be worthwhile. Couple that with the fact that finding a “competent “ fitter is like finding hen’s teeth and it is usually a waste of money.

Been rocking an odyssey toe up for 4 years (pretty sure I’m the only one in the world using this as it was discontinued since it was so unpopular) but tried switching to a Scotty just because of the name value. Absolutely hated it and switched back in a week lol
Good video man!
Thanks, Tom! We could features Jordan's WITB but it would require semi-weekly updates!
Well I can tell you what’s not in my bag… got drunk as hell and left my pitching wedge somewhere on the back 9 the other day 😂
Quick question about when to go get a fitting done.
Just my $0.02.
shout out 5 hybrid!
Right on!
Adam you should do an update to this
Been thinking about going in for a driver fitting. If anyone has had one done within the last couple years, mind telling me about how much it cost?
At first glance I though those head covers were Canucks head covers.
Hey Adam! If you don't mind me asking - what's your height and swing speed? I have a feeling that we might be around the same height, so I wanna see what sorts of speeds I can be aiming for...
I'm 5'6. My driver swing speed hovers in the mid-90s.
Nice been wait for this video
Thanks, Christopher!
I know this comment is posted months after your video - however, I STRONGLY recommend you give Kirkland Signature 3-piece V2.0 Urethane Cover Golf Balls a try.
I should play these more often. I'm not a Costco member :p
You are most def good enough for ProV1…..
Haha cheers.
Whats he do for a living...must do well if he's a member at Shaughnessy.
Formerly worked in tech sales, but the channel has taken over these days. Shaughnessy happened to be running a great promo when I joined (thanks to their uncertain timeline). It was actually economical for me to join there once I started playing golf 10+ times per month.
Great witb
Thanks!
Just curious, how tall are you? You're channel is 100% about to blow up
Thanks, Tanner! I'm 5'6", maybe 5'7" on tall days!
Who would you recommend for a club fitting in the lower mainland?
A lot of people swear by Modern Golf, but I was unimpressed with my experience there. I think it depends on which club(s) you're looking to fit for, your budget, and goals. A lot of the big brands do fitting days at the munis, and I think those are a good start.
@@NotAScratchGolfer Thanks! Keep up the great videos, really enjoying your work!
where did you go for your driver fitting?
I did it with a Titleist rep in Vancouver.
Nothing wrong with playing a PV1 even if you can't fully compress it. There is if you are losing a dzn a round tho...
Haha fair.
Yeah I need to get some clubs. I just use my dads, which are like 40 years old 😂
40?! That's dope! What are the specs on those things?!
@@kobebean1180 Pings all feel relatively the same, it's all about the lofts. Just club up or two.
Hey what’s up man, have you played golf in Ontario?
I've never teed it up in Canada outside of BC!
@@NotAScratchGolfer what part of bc are you in?
‘ I’ve been playing for 4 years ’
2min later…..
‘ I grew up playing a lot of pitch & putt ‘
Lol. Played a lot of pitch and putt. 4 or 5 years into "big boy golf" now.
I listened to you! New WITB video coming.
What length is your putter?
33"
What did you do to your Scotty!!! 😭 the grip!!!! Nooooooooo lol jk my man cannot go wrong with a Scotty! But seriously the grip 😂 if I came like that I forgive you! Just give me your patron so I can send you some cash to send her into Scotty to get fixed up 😜 and you can totally play a Pro V1!!!
haha thanks. The grip is a SuperStroke 2.0 Flatso and I wouldn't have it any other way!
IMO most “recreational “ golfers do not have a consistent enough swing for a “fitting “ to be worthwhile. Couple that with the fact that finding a “competent “ fitter is like finding hen’s teeth and it is usually a waste of money.
Glad I'm not the only one that knows gap wedges are a scam
That makes at least 2 of us!
How tall are you
Always short of the green
5'6", 5'7" on a tall day :p
Before I watched this, I assumed he had driver, putter, two wedges and all the rest were hybrids
Lollll
