thank you for your video, Katie. I was trying my Silhouette portrait last night for the first time and was so frustrated bc it wouldn't cut, failing to read registration marks... Thanks to you, I will try again pointing a light toward it, and hopefully, the problem will be solved.😊
@@maybekatieKatie, It worked! It finally cut. I have another issue now with the registration marks, the cut is out of phase. I found you were right, about printing from Silhouette studio vs printing from photoshop, the difference to me is abysmal. Still, when exporting the pdf with the registration marks to photoshop, the document's resolution is 600 dpi, vs the 300 dpi I usually work with. Plus, I work with A4 formats, and I am just not getting it right. I am still working on it... Thanks again!! :)
This was really helpful! Thank you for sharing! I just got a canon pixma 7620 for personal use and I’ve been interested for a while now in making stickers with my Cricut.
This is an older video, so might not be an issue. Could you setup sticker sheet in Silhouette Studio with registration marks...Print as PDF...Print thru Photoshop....Then put on your mat to cut? This would eliminate having to "line up" your design again in Silhouette Studio. Just a thought. Thanks and great work.
this is a genius idea! I just tried it and I'm comparing the two methods; I haven't printed them yet but from comparing them on-screen, the one that's done with your method (saving the pdf through silhouette) seems to be pretty much the same. on the file I just tried I did lose some of the colour quality, although that is easy enough to restore in photoshop. thank you for sharing!
@@RonWaller this actually came at the perfect time, I am currently working on a video similar to this one but with full sheets of stickers. I hope you don't mind that I share this technique in that video-I'd be more than happy to credit you if you would like!
@@maybekatie By all means share the technique. I seen it from someone else that likes to use photoshop to print like you. I can't take credit was just passing it on to you that it might helps.
I have the registration failed problem!!! I’ll definitely try the light. I have a question though, when you press the up arrow on your portrait where does the registration square end up? (I’m just concerned mine is somehow not going in all the way? Probably not bit just in case!) it would be super helpful to know!!
hello friend! I just put the cutting mat in just enough to hold it, and then I just do the automatic register setting-so the registration square is *not* all the way up by the cutting tool. does that make sense??
@@maybekatie i think so! Mine does the same but doesn’t read it for some reason… but i figured out how to position it manually for now. I hope its just light or something
hi! great video!! is the portrait 3 your first cutting machine or have you tried cricut before? im planning to get my first machine and leaning towards the portrait 3 but im scared that the software might be too hard for me to learn.
hey tamarah! yes this is my first cutting machine; I chose the portrait 3 because it was the cheapest option that had all the functions I felt like I needed. do you have a mac or a windows computer??
Hi, I have a problem, when I save the registraron marks as a PDF and thenI open it on Photoshop, it doesn't come with transparent background like yours or the one on silhouette, could you please tel me how you did it? Thanks!
Hmm, that's really strange-the way I did it in this video (saving it as a pdf through Silhouette Studio and then uploading it directly to Photoshop) is how I saved that registration mark file. Unfortunately the only additional advice I have to offer is maybe to just try going ahead and setting up your file on the pdf even though it isn't transparent, I think it should still work just the same? I hope you are able to get it to work!
In your Etsy shop, do you do custom sticker sheets? Like, if I wanted a whole sheet of multiples of one single image? Or one of your sticker images but in a larger size?
OMG the extra light for reading the registration marks is genius. This is an issue for Cricut sometimes, too. I will be trying this!!
I hope it is helpful! 💕

I could potentially do a custom sticker/sticker sheet for sure! 😊 Did you have an image in mind??
can you share your cut settings?
yes absolutely!! for this vinyl material I use in the video I have the blade depth at 4, force at 30, speed at 3, and 1 pass.
