This is amazing! Thanks for the tips! I'm currently saving up for the a6300 right now. I just love the fact that it is an amazing camera in low light situations
My Sony A6300 setting's and some tips to get your footage looking as cinematic as possible. I'd love to see your work. Leave a comment with a link to your most recent project with these similar settings. I'd love to see your work!
Again, not only a killer visual but also very informative. This channel is gonna grow big time mark my words, anyway just a quick question, Im saving up for the A6300 , but I came across some information that the camera tends to overheat? did some more research and there seems to be a software update which fixes this problem... did you encounter this problem? thanks in advance
Ferran, cheers to you sir! My A6300 hasn't overheated at all. I've used it quite a bit too. Out side and in a studio environment. Thanks for your comment.
My friend did the Cinematography, I'm an actor in it, I would still love to hear your opinion, as I am about to purchase a Sony A6300 ua-cam.com/video/NIjE2quzaWw/v-deo.html
Great look! Thanks for posting this! Got a question... I shoot with an A6500 and an A7s ii. In really low light situations, do you still use S-log? I find that I get more noise that way and have tried some other settings, but haven't found a setting I'm in love with. I'd love to hear your specific settings for shooting at night or with low light. Thanks again.
Mount Hideaway Productions hey, Hideaway! Yes, I shoot slog in low light situations. I find exposing to the right helpful. Then adding contrast and pull back on your exposure in post. I notice when You add contrast to a noisy shot it tends to help. These cameras can be pushed a bit more so play with your iso and see where your threshold is.
Means a lot, bud. Thank you! I'm hoping to release a new video every week now that my schedule has changed. Your comment makes all this hard work worth while.
I see that some shots have good dark area information, but they also have very bright white areas, for example here 2:28, jacket reflects sun it becomes overexposed. How can you combat that? How can you show dark and bright areas at the same time?
MR SLAV the whites in these shots are accentuated because of a soft/glow filter I have on my camera. Hard light is tough to combat especially in hi dynamic light situations. Make sure to keep an eye on the right side of your histogram to keep it from clipping.
MR SLAV I don’t use a polarizer often. Without my softening filters I usually land a good dynamic shot by exposing a bit to the right and pulling down my highlights. But I’m not into perfectly balanced shots. I don’t mind if small parts of my images show flaws. It gives my images character.

You have a great channel going here. Quick question, your footage seems quite intensely graded at times, I struggle with the codec on the a6300, how do you grade for say, teal and orange, and manage to avoid ‘breaking’ the codec?
great tips man. question. I know you transitioned from the bmmcc to the a6300. why a6300 and not a7sii? is it b/c you think that the 4k is better on the a6300?
Hey, Koishik. Couple of reasons. 1. More affordable 2. Better resolution 3. Affordable memory cards. Its a great little camera. Only BIG issue is the rolling shutter when using telephoto lenses. You can really see it.
Amizing video and info.., em.. a coulpe review said that they are move from slog 2 /3 to cine 4 because more flexible and friendly grade like lower iso, low noise to.., its that true? Im still newbie in sony a6300/system,.. i confuse which better for my next video? And one more.. i really sad.. the wiggle/rolling sutter its worse and when i handheld even try carfully still vibration on footage appears.. can you give me some advice? Thamk before :)
Thanks, bud. I haven't been following Sony much every since I bought the URSA Mini 4.6k. Slog2 worked for me but if they have proved cine 4 to out preform - then I'd try it. I only noticed rolling shutter when I would use telephoto lenses. My advice to you in this situation is to stabilize your camera when using a telephoto lens. Tripod, gimbal, Steadicam. Hope this helps.
GOLDWULF thank for reply, yeah atcualy me to.. looks slog 2 more work for me on post..with free luts more handy, but still confuse for next which better for all round,.. yeah i still use nikon lens use adapter., Looks great but to shake, vibration too event use tripod.., i wonder if try buy OSS lens feom sony, its make any or big deffrent? What do you thing?
The filter I have is a 4x4 filter made for a matte box. I haven't looked into a screw on version. But if you want a similar look I would look into Pro Black Mist or Satin 2 filters made by Tiffen.
Looks fantastic but not sure you want to be using the diffuse filter on everything. It looks great on a youtube videos where everyone is walking along in slo-mo and not really doing much other than looking good. Like a travel video. But for a narrative film if everything was diffused all the time, it wouldn't look right to me. This video does look amazing though.
WOW GREATT ua-cam.com/video/B_KJHA1OeZw/v-deo.html ive tested your settings, what do you think? :D i feel like i still have a bit of noise at the dark area. trying so hard to get my footage just look as great as yours XD
Hallo Jason, You speak about 1/48 and 1/98 of a second but with the sony A6300 I only can set on 1/50 and 1/100 Can you please explain this. thank's Richard
I dont know if anyone gonna answer me but when im recording in 24p 4K at 1-50 shutter speed , my video look so laggy and choppy how to get a smooth footage?
With a shutter of 1/48th your seeing motion blur. It’s intended to look like way. To most it feels “life like”. If you want less motion blur crank up your shutter. Experiment to see what you like.
Ben Cruz good point. Canon seems to have a softer sensor. Sony cameras have a real digital feel to them. Super sharp. The cokin net filter really softens things up. In one of my next vids I’ll cover a 1/8th black pro mist filter that gives a similar vibe of softness.
The natural way is to shoot at native iso or below. The 2nd way is to use a denoiser. Lots of great 3rd party software for premiere or Davinci Resolve has a good one built in.

Don't get me wrong, the masked man, the protagonist, the acting, and the camera movements does look like a Hollywood film, you did an amazing job. Just wondering, was 1:26 still filmed on the Sony a6300?
Hi, can you make a video to present your rig ans accesories please ? It's look like verry interested !
Please let me know if we will be shooting in Mp4 format or h.264
Did u use any focal reducer for this video.
What are your render export settings?
H.264 CBR 50MBPS
What lens is you r recommended lens for the Sony a6300? I really like the look of this video.
For the cost, look, quality, and speed (fstop) I’d go for the sigma 18-35f1.8
Even with the horrible autofocusing sound?
Thanks for the advice btw.
Love I️t G, can’t wait when you do your color grading tut in detail Bro?
Rudy Gold l drop a color grade vid just for you bro. 😍

been few months i got my a6300 now
gathering $ for my first lens

Gautama ARTS hey Gautama ARTS have you managed to fix your rolling shutter problem?
Hi, Thanks for sharing this! I also made a Sony Alpha Travel Film using the a6000 during my time in Toronto. I hope you like it
I just watched that travel film. That's uniqe with those transitions and that music. 🙂👍
How do you turn the ISO down when using SLOG, there's usually too much noise so I don't use it
Thanks bro
I can't find detailed info on that Cokin filter could you answer a few questions??
Can you shoot it stopped down?

Unfortunately not.

How do you expose +2 when you’re setting the ISO manually?
Hallo Jason, You speak about 1/48 and 1/98 of a second but with the sony A6300 I only can set on 1/50 and 1/100

1/48 and 1/98 can only be used on cameras like Blackmagic and more expensive models as far as I know. 1/50 and 1/100 are close enough.
What about that rolling shutter at 4k ? How can we remove that?

azmy usama hey! I’m using a Sigma 18 - 35 f1.8
what if my record setting options are 24 p 50 m or 120 p 100 m and 120 p 60 m?

The 120fps in your 6300 looks amazing, in the GH4 the slow motion is ultra compressed, you know, like garbage!
Great tutorial! However, the overall video looks 1080 eventho it was shot on 4k. Somehow this looks like a canon footage due to the softness.
Ben Cruz good point. Canon seems to have a softer sensor. Sony cameras have a real digital feel to them. Super sharp. The cokin net filter really softens things up. In one of my next vids I’ll cover a 1/8th black pro mist filter that gives a similar vibe of softness.

1:21 What has the 180° rule got to do with the shutter speed of my camera? 🙄
180º rule is known as the most common setting for cinema. I used it as a way to call out the proper "cinematic" shutter speed.
