Plus that AA gold :) And to think, Marta actually wanted her to be a beam and bars specialist, and Valeri had to fight for Nastia to compete in AA b/c he KNEW what his own daughter was capable of. The Liukin family has some serious "winner" genes lol.
She gets so much hate nowadays from younger fans but they can’t appreciate the elegance and perfection Nastia showcased. She was so unique and still is. We have yet to see another gymnast like her.
She was amazing at keeping her legs together (as odd as that sounds) on bars! a small thing that takes a lot of effort. and hyperextended knees and impeccable toepoint creates such gorgeous lines, like Komova, Pavlova, and Porgras, too.
@@VeeVe3 Khorkina is 5’5” and that’s considered almost too tall to even be a gymnast nowadays. The taller you are, the harder it is to rotate/control yourself in the air. I believe it is very unusual to be Elite level at Nastia’s height, let alone be on top of the sport. Hats off to her, huh?
I've seen these routines over and over, and its still amazing every time. When she was injured everyone was so down on her and she really rose up at the Olympics. Forever and always my favorite gymnast.
Yeah, I was really impressed at the perfectionism both she and Valeri emphasized in the tiniest of details. I always wonder what Nastia could have done had she pursued her mother's sport. She is built for rhythmic gymnastics but her elegance and power turn her gymnastics into works of art. She's truly poetry in motion and I feel lucky I was able to watch her while she was in her prime and competing.
I get the sense that Nastia thrives on competition and on mastering advanced technical skills. I'm not sure rhythmic gymnastics would have kept her interest. I forgot how great her floor performance was in the final. Probably the best one I’ve seen from her. She was so solid during these Olympics, and beautiful to watch!
I still really do believe she should’ve scored higher on vault in the AA compared to the qualifications!! She stuck it in the AA but got a lower score compared to the higher score in the quals with a shuffle in the landing. I love her sm!!!
I think her height and form were superior in the quals vault. The stuck landing was phenomenal but I found the quals vault more inspiring as she soared so high with basically perfect form.
@@makelovenotwar9941 not to mention an insane bars routine that was packed with so much difficulty that she could take a huge step on the landing and still get the highest score of the night on any apparatus. One of the best part of this video is Valeri's reactions. I get the sense that he's a coach who will give you realistic feedback, so getting his praise means you really did well. I know he doesn't have the best reputation as a coach with other gymnasts, but it's still great to see his interaction with Nastia here.
He’s actually improved in his coaching since then if you see how he and his wife coaches Konnor it very much like how he coached his own daughter if not slightly better so I think he’s definitely learned from his mistakes in the past
Nastia is really outstanding.I really enjoy her performance, in best traditions of Soviet classical gymnastics, with clear lines, athletism as well as artistism.
