It is no surprise that your subscriber numbers are growing Helen - it’s because your videos are so good! I love all your crafting bits and bobs but your travels in the camper to these wonderful places are so interesting and lovely to watch! The professional piano accompaniment by your own hands is really the icing on the cake! I’ll happily take as many videos as you can happily produce for us all. Thank you so much x
Thank you so much, Heather, for your appreciative words! It is very heartening to know that you enjoy everything that goes together to make my videos! x
Thank you Helen for taking us along on your trip. I absolutely love getting out and about with you and Phil. Your videos are very enjoyable, many thanks for taking the time to film. X
What a wonderful video, I loved the music you played to accompany it. Im still going through your old videos as I have not been a viewer for very long. You just popped up on my feed a few weeks ago, and Im thoroughly enjoying catching up. You have already inspired me to buy and start my first bullet journal, and also try and start a project ive had on hold for about 10 years. So glad I found you and Thankyou for your lovely videos.
Thank you, Gillian! I'm so glad that you enjoy the piano music, and that you're enjoying catching up with some of my older podcasts - and happy to know that I have inspired you to do try something new and to pick up an old project! x
What a beautiful place Isle of Coll is Helen. Your travels are as always amazing, I love how you explain everything to us. Congratulations on your subscribers Helen, you well and truly deserve it you put so much work into your videos. Xxxxxxxx
Thank you, Jeanette - I feel so fortunate to be able to go to such wonderful places! And of course, I think of you while I'm away, each time I get out my beautiful campervan project bag that you made!!! Looking forward to taking you on the next part of our trip. And thank you - I was quite taken aback when lots more people started finding my videos!! xxxxx
I’m so happy to be a tiny part of your 3000 subscribers. These videos are relaxing, entertaining, instructional, beautiful, and inspiring - who wouldn’t want to watch!? The walks to the beach through the wildflower fields made my heart happy. I could almost feel the wind and smell the air! Fabulous. What a magical island. Thanks for taking me along. Tiree here we come! Salam wa sa’aadah
Thank you so much, Linda, for saying such lovely things! I’m very happy to be able to take you on our travels - on this part of our trip we really were appreciating the simple things in life! xx
The island of Coll really captivated me. That is the kind of holiday I adore. Peace and quiet and beautiful surroundings, *sigh* , those places are certainly getting harder and harder to find. Looking forward to the next trip. ❤️🍂
Hi Helen. You absolutely deserve an increase in your subscribers. Everyone needs to find you and your wonderful podcasts. What an amazing trip. Thank you for sharing. The apple pie looked delicious 😋
Your rambles and your love of little toys are your point of difference from every other knitting podcast - a lot have the same stuff, the same pattern.... keep doing what you are doing. Your piano music reminds me of the kind of music they used when I was doing Scottish Country Dancing - they are pretty pieces. - Michelle
Thank you, Michelle - although my very first podcasts were more like the 'show and tell' format that many knitting podcasters follow, I very soon seemed to find my own path - and I can do nothing else except to continue being me! I love those Scottish folk tunes and they do make me think of country dancing too! x
Another lovely video. Thank you so much Helen, for sharing the idyllic spots you are discovering. The Scottish flavoured accompanying music was perfect.
We're of like mind - who cares if it's blowing or raining - to be out in the fresh air with beautiful scenery is our joy. Of course, better if it is fine but sitting on a deserted beach being blown in our coats is so relaxing. Thanks so much for taking me along with you. I enjoyed every bit. As a regular stalwart viewer I enjoy your episodes being mixed; crafting, travelling, baking, family, and anything else that crops up. See you next time. xx
Absolutely - we just enjoy the fresh air and whatever the weather happens to be doing! Thank you for being a lovely stalwart viewer and UA-cam friend - our support for each other, and enjoyment of what each other shares, is mutual. We are definitely like-minded in the variety of things that we love to share! xx
What a beautiful island, with happy sheep wandering around. And beautiful flowers... your videos are a great way to learn english and learn the names of flowers and animals geat and small. Thank you🌼🌼
Hello Helen A lovely post, as usual. My only complaint is its never long enough!😁 I could watch you all day long. You have such a sweet way with you, very welcoming. You are blessed with such a creative mind. Thank You. X
Thank you so much, Ms. Helen, for taking us along on your adventure! How peaceful and pure it all seemed! Exactly the sort of place I'd imagine would be perfect for writing a novel, spending a quiet piggy honeymoon, or working with wool 🥰 Thank you for sharing your beautiful heart with us!
Wow I'm 1st!😮enjoyed your lovely tour Helen from Michigan in the evening, what a treat🎉🎉🎉!the island was lovely, but I couldn't get over your making apple pie in the van and suppers! How cozy.🤗that was a treat, thank you both🕊️💗
That was such a nice trip. The scenery was absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. I live in Florida and I just live for the cool weather in winter. I so enjoyed everything about your trip. I love your little pigs Mathew and Rose they are so cute. I also enjoy all of your piano music; you play so well. There isn't anything better than just seeing beautiful places, with all of your favorite things (to do) around you, great food, and a wonderful husband by your side. Those are all the things my hubby and I enjoy too. Have a wonderful week and I will be looking forward to your next video. Oh, I am not surprised by how many people are subscribing to your channel because you are just a lovely person. Thank you!
Thank you for such lovely comments - I'm so glad you enjoyed all the things that I shared today! I can't imagine living anywhere as warm as summer in Florida - I can understand how you look forward to cooler weather! I am delighted that quite a few more people have found me on UA-cam - it's such a lovely way of being connected to like-minded people around the world!
Helen what a gorgeous place ❤ oh that apple& cinnamon pie with custard looked so good😊 Thank you for taking us along it was wonderful ❤ see you next week x
What a breathtaking place Coll is. So tranquil and little human invasion. So much beautiful nature. The apple pie was a great idea, very inventive. Thanks for sharing with us and accompanying with lovely music. Take good care, Lisa ❤
I admire your life . 😮 the crafts and creative poems, history . And showing us all that can be seen in North of England and Scotland and Wales. It's a truely exciting time for me to watch your show. I'm Chrissy. From Oxfordshire. But I've been living in Perth western Australia.for just over 50 yrs. Divorced, two daughters . The death of my second hubby. 26 yrs ago. Has drawn me back to my sewing and crochet. I've tryed many other crafts .but enjoy these two more .I can knit . Some times having to start over if pattern isn't easy to follow.well I just would like to say Hello dear Helen.. keep me thrilled with your playing .the piano. I always wished if learnt. Chrissy 10:31
Thank you, Chrissy, for your lovely comments and for telling me a bit about you! It's good to know that you enjoy spending some time crafting, especially sewing and crochet. And thank you - I'm very happy to keep playing the piano for you! xx
Another fascinating video which brought back memories of reading Katie Morag adventures to my class at school. Whilst Katie Morag stories by Mairi Hedderwick are set on the fictional island of Struay, the location was inspired by Arinagour on Coll.
What a tease! I watched this on my lunch break. A bit of escapism. Those beaches are beautiful and I always enjoy seeing the meals you prepare in the van. X
Thanks, Anita - I'm glad I took you away to this beautiful place during your lunch break! Being there really did feel like an escape from the outside world! x
Hooray! Another fun video. How nice to be in your cozy camper van and making apple pie! I'm impressed. The scenery was so beautiful and you had the island practically to yourself. Well, besides a few sheep 🐑 Looking forward to next week.
I love, love, love your video's, Helen! Long ago we visited the isles of Mull and Iona, so from my memories I can imagine a bit the atmospheres, sounds and smells of those islands. Beautiful. And so cosy, you and your husband in the campervan! I am from the Netherlands, by the way.
Thank you so much, Liesje! I am so glad you are enjoying my videos! I think you will enjoy it when I show you the part of our trip where we went to Mull! And we were always nice and cosy in the campervan, even when the weather outside wasn't so pleasant.
Another lovely video Helen. What a gorgous island. We've never been asked to reverse onto a ferry either, how strange x Hope the piggies had a wonderful honeymoon ☺
Thank you for coming along - I'm glad you enjoyed it (and the piggies definitely had a wonderful time!). It was definitely slightly strange having to reverse onto the ferry! x
When we lived in Cairnbaan we used to go to the mobile cinema when it came to Lochgilphead. It was fascinating. The sides of the vehicle extended out to the sides and created a mini cinema. Love your trip to Coll and looking forward to Tiree. Islay is a lovely place to visit too x
That's brilliant that you've been to a mobile cinema - I had never come across one before! Looking forward to taking you to Tiree! (And I agree about Islay - we had a lovely stay there about a year ago) x
Enjoying the slow pace of your videos which goes so nicely with the slow pace of the places you visit. Just got back to CA after visiting family in England. I was looking forward to some rain but we only had a day of rain as we were leaving! How perverse! Thank you. Jane xx
Thank you Jane - we definitely went at a slow place in this part of our holiday - it was lovely! It's great to know that you've just been visiting family in England - how unusual to have such a small amount of rain! xx
Hi Helen. I've just had a indulgent half hour, watching and knitting a sleeve. Such a beautiful and tranquil place. Can imagine it was a perfect place to switch off. The apple pie looked delicious. Our friends have just bought a camper, will pass on the magnet trick. Can't wait to see the next leg of your adventure. Hope your well, take care. Xx
Thanks, Angela - I'm happy to have kept you company while you knitted a sleeve! Coll really was the perfect place to relax. Looking forward to taking you to Tiree! Take care and have a lovely week xx
Helen,,,,,another great episode,,,, Loved seeing the island,,,and UR meals looks so so good!!! That Apple pie,,,!!!yummy,,,,, Thanks again,,, Look forward to ur next island,,, Elaine 🍁🎃🍄💜
That looks like bliss. I was very surprised to see the cinema truck although it's obviously a good idea. Tough roads for an HGV, though! Looking forward to Tyree.
Hi Helen, new subscriber here. I love your videos, I watch while I knit! I'm glad you're keeping your crafting & travel videos together as I enjoy them both equally. I also find your piano playing very relaxing, it's beautiful. Thank you for taking the trouble to bring us along on your adventures! Jayne.
Oh it’s soooo hard to wait for the next instalment 🤪. What a lovely adventure. The road did look very narrow and although I looked carefully I didn’t see m(any) passing spots. I didn’t know you don’t like cows. I’m not around them much being a city dweller but in childhood I tried unsuccessfully to milk one, I’ve’mucked out a byre’ and thankfully found them mostly docile. But with their calves around them you were likely smart to avoid them. The apple cake looked good and I smiled at the amount of custard used - my mother-in-law would definitely approve :). It definitely seems a remote wild island and yet the hotel there was really lovely, looked quite modern. You just never know what you’ll find :). I hope the two wee piggies enjoyed their honeymoon. You and Phil are very sweet too. Companionable silence is so comfortable/comforting, when you both enjoy each other’s quiet presence. Big hugs Helen 🤗
Thank you, Isabel. I do think most cows are docile but I can't quite get over my fear... and it definitely is sensible to avoid cows with calves. Custard - yes, we like a goodly amount! I think that sitting in companionable silence is an extremely useful skill when spending hours in a small space with someone - and yes, it's rather comforting, too!!! xxx
What a stark and wonderful place Coll appears. Quiet and solitude is so needed in our hustle and bustle modern lives. Books, knitting and quiet companionship looks perfect.
What a gentle and relaxing video. Thank you Helen. Coll looks fascinating. I can't wait until the Tiree video, to see the difference between the two islands.
Hello, I am one of the new subscribers, and I really love your vlogs, also the piano music! I played the piano for years, but after surgery on my hand, those days are over😢 luckely I can still knit and crochet, and I started with EPP and cross stitch, very addictif. Thank you for taking me with you on your lovely trip!!! Now I really want some apple pie😅.see you next time, love from Belgium, Lieve
Hi Lieve, and thank you for introducing yourself! I'm so glad to know that you have been enjoying my videos. It's a pity that you are no longer able to play the piano - but good that you can continue with lots of crafting! I love being able to take you on some 'armchair' travels!
LOVELY! It’s great to watch you doing all the things I’d planned to do in my campervan! Strange about the trees- there seemed to be a large amount at one point then there were none! Ot was like that on Shetland . Looking forward to the next install, ent. x
Aww, thank you Lynne - I'm glad that you can at least go armchair travelling with me. You're right none of these Scottish isles seem to have much in the way of trees, including Shetland and Orkney! x
What an amazing trip, the footage you captured is beautiful and very informative Helen 👏👏 loved that you make apple pie in the van 🤣 congratulations on the subs, thoroughly deserved 😘😘
Thank you, Dawn! That apple pie was SO good, especially while the wind and rain were battering the van! Coll was such a great place for a getaway. And thank you - it feels a little overwhelming to have so many new followers! xx
Another lovely adventure- I noticed you were reading 'The Wood' by John Lewis-Stempel I hope you enjoyed it. I have read quite a few of his books.....Another of my favourite occupations -reading, which you could add to your podcasts, the books you are reading.....but good luck when you're trying to keep them short lol 😊
Thank you! I thoroughly enjoyed The Wood and will definitely look for more by the same author - I love his rather poetic style. Perhaps I will share something about the books I enjoy at some point - that's a good thought! x
Hi it’s nice to meet you. Thank you for this great video. We really enjoyed it a lot we can’t wait to see where you get to next. Your new friends and subs Chelsea and Mike
I thoroughly enjoyed your video, the scenery was beautiful and breathtaking and your narration was both informative and relaxing. You have a nice way of piecing your videos together. Looking forward to the next part of your adventure. I must confess, the rocks in Scotland look the same as here in Newfoundland (Canada).
Thank you, Donna - I'm glad you enjoyed it. Phil (who is into geology) says the rocks in Newfoundland are probably 'Lewisian Gneiss' the same as on the west of Scotland!!! x
I loved every minute and I will be watching for the next episode. You left us on a bit of a cliff hanger lol. The sea seems to call out to us doesn't it? Evenif you live 1000 km inland on the Canadian prairies !!
Thank you, Heather! You're right, the sea really does seem to call out to us - I can't imagine living quite that far from the sea! I'm so glad you enjoyed spending time with us today! x
Looks like a beautiful spot to visit. When I was in Scotland this past summer we took a car ferry across to the Isle of Lewis and Harris. We'd never done anything like that before. It was definitely an awesome adventure!!! Of course I bought some beautiful Harris Tweed treasures and brought home some fabric too. We were able to visit an amazing guy whom showed us his loom and explained his amazing family weaving business. I highly recommend you do that someday if you can! Looking forward to the rest of your trip!
Thank you, Margaret - and thank you for telling me about your trip to Harris and Lewis! Phil and I went there in 2019 when we'd hired a campervan for two weeks, to see if we liked it enough to purchase a van of our own (and this was before I started making videos!) - we loved the Outer Hebrides and it's definitely somewhere we hope to return to. I'd love to meet the man who showed you his weaving loom! xx
Thank you, Debbie - it's definitely rather a remote location. The ferry goes between Coll and the mainland just once a day although there is also a tiny airport on the island! x
Coll looks beautiful. So enjoyed every moment from your walks to Feall and Hogh beaches with the dunes and glorious wildflowers to apple pie and custard in the van. Quite a honeymoon adventure for the pigs too. Refreshment and tranquility - quite the tonic. Looking forward to Tiree and the contrasts you mentioned. Thank you Helen!🌷🐞🐛🐝🌼
Amazing to see there are still places where you can truly get away. So stunning too. I bet more than once you were appreciative of being in a campervan rather than in a tent as it rained and blew. I was loving the sound of the rain. Thank you for sharing your holiday! I loved seeing the simple sights of sheep and cows, empty beaches, and what you had for dinner. It really did feel like an adventure on those single track roads! P.s. I love to read comments and hear about where folks live and what they do. Just little tidbits of life around the world, joined together for a few minutes as we enjoy a shared video. See you next week.🤗
Hi Karen - there were definitely moments when we were glad not to be in a tent (although it's great to be in a tent with the sound of the rain!). And we really did enjoy the simple pleasures of seeing the countryside and little beaches. I love reading the comments and feeling that we have a little community of friends here on UA-cam! Thank you! x
So relaxing and peaceful! I enjoyed the scenery with the beaches and the sheep. It has been much too long since I have sat on a beach, lulled by the waves and the wind. It's pretty amazing how you were able to make a pie while in the van! I have thoroughly enjoyed all of this so much. Congratulations on all your new followers, I am not surprised one bit - it was only a matter of time, and I predict many more followers to come as you are so enjoyable to watch. Thank you dear friend!
Thank you, Shari - I'm so glad that I can take you 'armchair' travelling to these beautiful places. I was so pleased with that apple pie! And thank you for being one of my original, loyal followers - this makes me very happy! xx
Found your channel a couple of weeks ago, absolutely love it, beautifully put together and this one is no exception, thank you for sharing your adventures ❤️ The apple pie looked scrumptious, could I ask what the pan is that you made it in please?
Thank you - I am so happy to know that you enjoyed today's episode! The pan I made the pie in is called a 'Ridge Monkey' and comes in various sizes - I think ours is a medium-sized one. We have found it such a useful piece of equipment! x
More wonderful adventures♥️. I loved the music, the rain, the honeymoon👍, the scratchy sheep, just a relaxing time. I love walking on a beach, but find the ocean a bit scary. I try to imagine what it must have been like for my British ancestors to face the sea as they left their homeland to come to a new country. Also a bit scary (a lot scary). Till the next leg of the trip….happy trails to you🤠 from the western US.
Thank you, Trudy - I'm glad you enjoyed all the things I showed you today. I think it was SO brave the way so many people in the past took to the sea to seek a new life! I can really understand your feelings about the ocean - the sea is quite a force to be reckoned with. See you next time! x
Thank you - you are very welcome! Yes, unfortunately the midges can be rather a nuisance, and I am particularly tasty to them - but the insect repellent that I used worked amazingly well! xx
As promised you kept me company during my knitting time (spiral permaculture on IG) 🙂. You are a wonderful weaver of tales and it was so lovely to ‘share’ in your camper van travels 🩷. Our third daughter many years ago stayed with some friends on Uist and the return crossing was pretty horrendous! I’m glad you ventured forth on calmer seas, San xx
Hi San, I'm so glad to have kept you company while you were knitting - I'm happy that you joined us for this lovely stay on Coll. We were definitely lucky with the calm sea for the crossing! x
It is no surprise that your subscriber numbers are growing Helen - it’s because your videos are so good! I so enjoyed this trip. Love the rain. It's lovely to be all cosy inside when it's raining especially with apple pie!!
Thank you, Dianne - I think that having the apple pie during the rainstorm was probably one of the highlights of the trip! x

Thank you, Doreen - it really was the perfect place to wind down! xx
A beautiful spiritual journey your piano playing and story of your journey to Scotland is so lovely thank you

Excellent! Loved it ❤
Thank you, Elaine! x
Lovely…. Very relaxing…
Abd that pie sure looked good.
Safe travels
Look forward to your next stop .

Thank you - it's always my pleasure to share my travels, especially when you live so far away! x
What a wonderful to go I love seeing other places and the grass was so green we had a drought here. The music that you chose is lovely ❤😊
Thank you, Lisa! I'm so glad you enjoyed the music! x
Another lovely video Helen. What a gorgous island.
We've never been asked to reverse onto a ferry either, how strange x
Hope the piggies had a wonderful honeymoon ☺
Thank you for coming along - I'm glad you enjoyed it (and the piggies definitely had a wonderful time!). It was definitely slightly strange having to reverse onto the ferry! x
What a beautiful and special place. Would love to visit one day. Looking forward to the next island instalment. X
Thanks, Lesley - it was truly a wonderful place to wind down! xx
This was so pretty.I love your sunflower on your hat.I am a long time viewer and I’ve loved them all.xx🐝🐝
Thank you - I'm very happy to know that you've enjoyed everything that you have watched! xx
It's lovely Helen , to hear you play I'm not into classical music . Yours follows your storyline.
Thank you, Christine - I'm glad you enjoy the piano playing! For this video I chose a selection of Scottish folk tunes.
Helen, you really do make lovely videos. I’m looking forward to the next instalment. Julie Tasmania Australia.❤❤
Thanks, Julie - I'm very happy that you are enjoying my little travel videos! xx

That Apple pie,,,!!!yummy,,,,,
Thanks again,,,

Elaine 🍁🎃🍄💜
Thank you, Elaine - I think that apple pie was probably one of the highlights of the trip (especially with the rain pouring down outside!) x
What a lovely trip, thank you for sharing it with us ❤
Thank you, Anne - you are very welcome! x
That looks like bliss. I was very surprised to see the cinema truck although it's obviously a good idea. Tough roads for an HGV, though! Looking forward to Tyree.
Thank you - we had such a lovely time! The cinema truck was huge, and we were amazed when we saw it two days later, driving onto the ferry! x
That was great Helen. I love to visit Scotland but never been to Coll. The apple pie looked delicious.
Thank you, Margaret! I was very happy with how well the apple pie turned out! x
Jayne.
Thank you, Jayne, and welcome to this quiet little corner of UA-cam! I'm glad you enjoy the variety of things that I love to share x
Thanks, Debbie - we thoroughly appreciated the simplicity of our time on Coll - it was just perfect! x
Hi Helen great video 😊
Thank you, Mike! I'm off now to watch one or two of your videos!
What a gentle and relaxing video. Thank you Helen. Coll looks fascinating. I can't wait until the Tiree video, to see the difference between the two islands.
Thank you, Deborah - I'm so glad you enjoyed coming along with us! x
Thank you, Chelsea and Mike! I'm very glad that you enjoyed coming along with us!
What a beautiful island. Thank you for sharing. I'm going to try an apple pie in our Ridgemonkey the one you made looked delicious. Lovely video 😊 xx
Thank you - it was a wonderful place to get away from the busy world! The Ridge Monkey apple pie is definitely to be recommended! xx
Hi Helen. Such beautiful territory. Another fun trip and looking forward to Tiree…🇺🇸
Thank you, Priscilla! xx
I'd love to meet the man who showed you his weaving loom! xx
I loved this, Helen!! ❤ Coll could be a lonely place to live. How often does the ferry come to the island of Coll to go to the mainland?
Thank you, Debbie - it's definitely rather a remote location. The ferry goes between Coll and the mainland just once a day although there is also a tiny airport on the island! x
What an amazing place, the Isle of Coll. What is the main occupation of the people there?
Thanks, Carol - it was really great to be there. The main occupation is farming although there's a bit of fishing, too.
Thank you, Helen - I'm so glad you enjoyed all the things I shared in this video! I'm looking forward to taking you to Tiree. x
We have found it such a useful piece of equipment! x
Thank you Helen ❤
See you next time! x
Hi Helen great trip you took us on 🙏🏻. The comfort food looked delicious. Can I ask do you get midges bothering you in Scotland? 🤗
Thank you - you are very welcome! Yes, unfortunately the midges can be rather a nuisance, and I am particularly tasty to them - but the insect repellent that I used worked amazingly well! xx
🙏🏻. Midges always eat me so maybe not for me. Luckily we have you ☺️
🥰👍🌷🇬🇧
Thank you!
We were definitely lucky with the calm sea for the crossing! x
Very enjoyable. Thank you.
Thank you, Linda! x
