I can so identify with the blanket squares and strips. I used scrap yarns for charity blankets so it can be frustrating trying to match up sides. I now only use one make of yarn. I’ve used felt for animals. For best results over-sew the pieces together first then machine stitch or back stitch the seams. Time consuming, which is why a lot of crafters blanket stitch the limbs on the outside and do not turn. Loved the mouse- along and the little girls concentrating on their stitching is adorable. Another welcome video and thank you to the ladies whose lovely mice have been shown today. So cute.

It’s so good seeing everything you share today! I love your soothing music! I am from Maryland, US along the Atlantic coast. Recent weeks we are visiting our Pacific Northwest. We are now at Yachats, Oregon in a small cottage right on a pristine ocean beach with towering cliffs and mountains covered in 200 foot conifers at our back. I wish you could visit here in your camper van. I am certain you would love it! I myself wish though that our country would do as the UK does, where campers can stop at any turnout for a night. One can dream. I hope someday, not too far away, to visit UK. Best wishes to you and your family!

You haven’t invested too much time yet, I’d say reuse the yarn in a more forgiving scrappy blanket. Joy is beautiful. I smiled at the wee mis-steps you took while putting her together. I have no idea how I became aware of your podcast,but I do remember that you had just over 100 subscribers at the time. So well done and Im not a bit surprised that the word has gotten out about your creative and inviting podcast. I love your mouse and she will be a nice addition to your menagerie! Nothing like a plain pair of socks, they fit into a shoe perfectly! The wool looks gorgeous. The blanket looks lovely but I feel you would need the same yarn, not stash, too annoying. 'Experienced' so much better than 'good' and you're a composer! Congratulations! Your mouse is grand, and I'm sure is longing to see all the new mice that have been made to join her. That is very true - a sock is made to fit perfectly into shoe! And yes, lovely blanket pattern but not good for using up bits and bobs - so I will return to that when I have some new yarn. Rose the mouse is eagerly anticipating the parade of mice and has given her seal of approval to the music! x

I'm almost finished with mouse number 3. It's a bit of a mash up of patterns. Just the ears and tail to make. I seem to have dropped down an amigurumi rabbit hole. Oh dear Helen what problems Rose caused😮, you deserve top marks for perseverance! As for your striped blanket I have the same problem when having sashing between blocks when sewing due to my inability (still after many years) of being able to sew a straight 1/4" seam on machine 😂. I now quote Pene of Penelope's Chinwag advice of 'wabu sabi' the art of embracing imperfection. On a selfish note I am sure like many of your current followers we don't want you to grow too popular as you are like a friend we share time with and not 'a personality'. Sometimes channels grow too big and lose the cosy feel and interaction of a small group. Thanks for sharing your time and makes with us again 😊

Rose turned out fabulous! Even as an experienced quilter, me and the seam ripper are always at work together. And my quilts don't always turn out quite right, but we are our own worst critic. Roses feet are perfectly made. I love the Luna Lapin animals. I love the idea of all the animals having clothes that are interchangeable. Wasn't that the best part of playing with dolls as a child, getting them all dressed up? (Funny that I am not a fashionista, sitting here in my grubby leggings and tshirt🙄. ) With regards to the blanket, you are not under contract to finish it. But only you can decide how you want to proceed. Just know that we have all been there on one project or another that doesn't work out just the way we want. I am currently ripping out a crocheted cardigan, making it into a blanket as I rip it back. There was So much I didn't like about it that it makes me happier to rip it back. And I had worn it and washed it too. Good grief. I am glad your mouse make along has garnered the attention of so many crafters. The mouse parade will be delightful. Made better by your music! My goodness, you are so talented. That composition sounds perfect for a mouse parade. I also liked the sailing to Orkney tune. As always thank you so much for sharing. See you next time🤗

Well done making Rose. Following diagrams and written instructions can be confusing, but you got there. The sewn clothes patterns in the book are very good and it will be much easier to make the right size. It was very nice to some of the mouse makes, mine included. I've never seen myself on someone else's podcast before. X

I am very envious of your own composition printed music - are you able to tell me which software package you use please? I have wanted to be able to print music for years as it is so much easier to read than handwritten (not that I have composed much) but thought it might be useful for recorder tunes etc for my grandchildren. Thank you, Rachel! You're right, my newest mouse Rose isn't really very little! 😂 I think I will probably stop making the blanket - a scarf is an excellent idea! I use a free software package called Musescore - just search for it and you can download it. There are plenty of UA-cam tutorials if you need help using it - or you are welcome to ask me! x

It’s so good seeing everything you share today! I love your soothing music! I am from Maryland, US along the Atlantic coast. Recent weeks we are visiting our Pacific Northwest. We are now at Yachats, Oregon in a small cottage right on a pristine ocean beach with towering cliffs and mountains covered in 200 foot conifers at our back. I wish you could visit here in your camper van. I am certain you would love it! I myself wish though that our country would do as the UK does, where campers can stop at any turnout for a night. One can dream. I hope someday, not too far away, to visit UK. Best wishes to you and your family!

I chuckled about you sewing the ear on back to front and sewing the whole leg before realising that the next step had to be inside out😂 I did those exact same mistakes when I made my first Luna Lapin, but your foot pad solution was much wiser than mine - I unpicked the whole front seam😂

I have no idea how I became aware of your podcast,but I do remember that you had just over 100 subscribers at the time. So well done and Im not a bit surprised that the word has gotten out about your creative and inviting podcast. I love your mouse and she will be a nice addition to your menagerie! Seeing a glimpse of the mice already made is spurring me on to finish the last bits of my mouse. Nothing like a plain pair of socks, they fit into a shoe perfectly! The wool looks gorgeous. The blanket looks lovely but I feel you would need the same yarn, not stash, too annoying. 'Experienced' so much better than 'good' and you're a composer! Congratulations! Your mouse is grand, and I'm sure is longing to see all the new mice that have been made to join her. What a grand finale there is going to be. xx
That is very true - a sock is made to fit perfectly into shoe! And yes, lovely blanket pattern but not good for using up bits and bobs - so I will return to that when I have some new yarn. Rose the mouse is eagerly anticipating the parade of mice and has given her seal of approval to the music! x

I'm almost finished with mouse number 3. It's a bit of a mash up of patterns. Just the ears and tail to make. I seem to have dropped down an amigurumi rabbit hole.

Oh dear Helen what problems Rose caused😮, you deserve top marks for perseverance! As for your striped blanket I have the same problem when having sashing between blocks when sewing due to my inability (still after many years) of being able to sew a straight 1/4" seam on machine 😂. I now quote Pene of Penelope's Chinwag advice of 'wabu sabi' the art of embracing imperfection. On a selfish note I am sure like many of your current followers we don't want you to grow too popular as you are like a friend we share time with and not 'a personality'. Sometimes channels grow too big and lose the cosy feel and interaction of a small group. Thanks for sharing your time and makes with us again 😊

Rose turned out fabulous! Even as an experienced quilter, me and the seam ripper are always at work together. And my quilts don't always turn out quite right, but we are our own worst critic. Roses feet are perfectly made. I love the Luna Lapin animals. I love the idea of all the animals having clothes that are interchangeable. Wasn't that the best part of playing with dolls as a child, getting them all dressed up? (Funny that I am not a fashionista, sitting here in my grubby leggings and tshirt🙄. )
With regards to the blanket, you are not under contract to finish it. But only you can decide how you want to proceed. Just know that we have all been there on one project or another that doesn't work out just the way we want. I am currently ripping out a crocheted cardigan, making it into a blanket as I rip it back. There was So much I didn't like about it that it makes me happier to rip it back. And I had worn it and washed it too. Good grief.
I am glad your mouse make along has garnered the attention of so many crafters. The mouse parade will be delightful. Made better by your music! My goodness, you are so talented. That composition sounds perfect for a mouse parade. I also liked the sailing to Orkney tune.

Well done making Rose. Following diagrams and written instructions can be confusing, but you got there. The sewn clothes patterns in the book are very good and it will be much easier to make the right size. It was very nice to some of the mouse makes, mine included. I've never seen myself on someone else's podcast before. X

I laughed when you said she was a 'little' mouse as next to mine she is a giant! lol I think I would stop making the blanket if the difference in yarn thickness was irritating me and use what I had made as a winter scarf! I am very envious of your own composition printed music - are you able to tell me which software package you use please? I have wanted to be able to print music for years as it is so much easier to read than handwritten (not that I have composed much) but thought it might be useful for recorder tunes etc for my grandchildren. Thank you

I use a free software package called Musescore - just search for it and you can download it. There are plenty of UA-cam tutorials if you need help using it - or you are welcome to ask me! x
