Mean people! Be nicer! You can tell she lost a LOT from the divorce. She made a mistake with the Craigslist person at 45K and the other builder essentially charged her full price of a new tiny to finish everything and they didn't fix the water problem and they should have. Trust me, divorce and loss of lifestyle is not fun as a single parent with kids. I'm glad she is happy. She is making the best of a tough situation. Good Luck!

If choosing to live in a tiny home is a “tough choice “ for some then that’s fair enough but I’ve been homeless before and I don’t want children so I’d be happy to own a tiny home rather than a “normal” home…. It’s like saying “normal” people…

The title is misleading. A $90k loan over 15 years would be $500/mo payment and that's interest-free! It's disingenuous to exclude the loan from her monthly housing/rent payment. If there's no loan repayment plan then the $90k was a gift. I think the negative comments are more directed at the intentional misdirection than the lady who is clearly happy and doing her best.

not a comment about her (tho someone clearly took advantage of her) people with no concept of negotiating, costs, researching, etc have been driving the cost of a built tiny home thru the roof with marketing words to make you swoon.... luxury, high end, etc. anything to make people mentally open their wallet. the focus really needs to be changing regulations to permit tiny homes everywhere foundation homes are permitted. housing is housing!

Jenn's story is truly remarkable and serves as a profound source of inspiration. The sincerity in her voice as she shares her journey through divorce, grappling with the urgent need to establish security for herself and her family, is palpable. What she has accomplished in the face of adversity is nothing short of extraordinary, a testament to her resilience and resourcefulness. From the depths of her experience, Jenn has crafted a beautiful outcome that speaks to the human capacity for growth and transformation.

Awhile ago I saw a tour of your tiny online. Your home is stunning! I live on the Oregon Coast in my tiny house at Tiny Tranquility Park. We rarely get sub-freezing temperatures in the winter, but this winter we've had a handful of nights below freezing, so I swapped out my original unheated hose for a heated one from CAMCO, a 12 ft. long model (they offer other sizes) with water line freeze protection down to -40°F. The hose comes with two ~8-inch long insulating rubber sleeves to slide over each end of the hose. It works great. Wishing you much happiness in your tiny.🥰

After selling a couple homes in 2022, I'm anticipating a housing crisis in order to buy inexpensively. As a backup plan, I've been thinking about purchasing stocks. What recommendations do you have for the best time to buy? On the one hand, I keep reading and seeing trader earnings of over $500k each week. On the other side, I keep hearing that the market is out of control and experiencing a dead cat bounce. Any Advice?

don't buy stocks in a crappy economy unless you really understand the market. If we are heading toward a 1929 situation, you do not want to be in stocks. But if you have good advice--perhaps you can do it. This type of stock economy--you can get rich or lose everything. Upheaval causes volatility.

Pretty incredible result for the money. I'm glad that she mentioned her challenges as well. The first builder she bought the home from disappearing on her, the issues with her water/plumbing which then begs the question, is this something that was not done properly by the second builder, and, before any of that, not being able to get a bank loan thereby needing to rely on a friend for the money. What if this friend did not exist, then what? That's why it's always important to check your finances first as well as check with a lender to see what you'd qualify for before beginning any kind of home purchase. Often these videos make everything seem so rosy and simple. So I'm glad she was honest. Good for her. She turned out to be very resilient but also had a little luck on her side. I wish her well.

175k is not expensive. Think for a second before reacting!
An average sized house with an equal level of detail, cabinetry, in every corner and on every wall would cost at least $300-400/sqft to build. This house includes the main expensive items: a bathroom, kitchen, and millwork; It's just packed more densely. One can easily imagine spreading all that expensive detail across a 1500sqft home, and still be luxurious.

Look I'm happy for her but a 175,000 dollars you can build a very nice home anywhere for that if you spend $175 on a single-family home in a normal run-of-the-mill neighborhood you could sell it for $300,000 easily I have friends of the family that just built a home on 20 acres in upper Michigan on the Manistee River it's so beautiful it's breathtaking and they'd spent 120 on the entire building cluding the perking the land for septic. And it's a beautiful glass front A-frame log cabin with everything and it's not small by any means. I think 175,000 is absurd. Yes I'm happy for her and if I could meet her I would gladly move in with her she's gorgeous LOL wow I can't believe I let that slip but no 170 $5,000 and then to have a $750 monthly bill on top of it too much

@@Whackpacky Tiny houses have gotten overpriced. But they also added more luxuries. Honestly, except for the stigma, it's cheaper to get a used RV. Cheaper, more room, easier to get quickly. Used RVs often have low-resell value so you can get them cheaper. They can be moved around and often have more living space. But people are more negative about RVS. But even places that allow tiny houses don't always allow RVS as they don't fit the 'look' of the community or there is zoning against it.

A friend of mine bought acreage on a little river in the middle of nowhere upper Michigan built a beautiful A-frame log cabin it's like a storybook village and they paid about 120 including perking the septic. On the other hand.... It becomes a math calculation for many. Pumping money today into a mortgage, with current rates, years of interest payments, and in a single-family housing market mostly in decline, at 51 this lady probably did the right thing for herself. As an 'asset', you're correct, will probably never appreciate. So like a car, that type of home is a 'tool', and that's how it should be seen. There are many other categories of asset investments available that, at this stage in her life, she can indeed explore and choose from. (Words from a Gen-X person.)

Let’s be realistic , even if she owned the land, she would still have to pay property taxes. 🙄🤷🏾‍♀️
So if she is paying for renting the lot, it’s the same equivalent of paying property taxes, which by the way increases , also utilities and property upkeep. No matter what you own, there will always be some type of expense you would need to pay for owning that residence.’ It sounds like Colorado is expensive to own property, so I’m sure the property taxes are also high to pay too. I live in New York (Long Island suburbs) & property taxes can range from $6,000 (school & general taxes) to $20,000 and up depending on the community. As long as you live in this world you will be paying for some type of expenses to survive and make ends meet.
