    Maaaaannnn.... my 19 equinox is gonna have some clean valves soon!!!. THANK you so much for showing me it's not that bad to get to the valves on this engine! Gonna get some valve cleaner and scrub with some plastic bristles and spray it out with air hose!

    Changed the pump and it makes vacuum(confirmed after starting it up again) I smelled gas and realized there is now a fuel leak coming from what looks to be the two left fuel injectors. Rewatched the video and tended to the O-rings that you mentions and stuck them back onto the injectors but it still leaks. Any ideas?

    For all those doing this job. It is VERY likely you will need to change the camshaft. The reluctor wheel commonly rotates or moves when the pump explodes. I found that if you remove the EXH camshaft position sensor; the reluctor wheel is visible and no longer in the middle of the hole. Even if it is, you need to determine that it is in the correct place, the small post will align with the QR code of the camshaft hex space near the timing cover. You will have to remove the valve cover for this. If you change the cam, you MUST use a new bolt. Its tty. I advise you to get the info from ALL DATA DIY for $20. Gives you directions for everything. You also will need a special tool tool, and two people; to relax tension in the chain, hold the chain and phasers in place; and be able to pull the EXH cam without pulling the timing cover/eng mount/alternator/harmonic balancer. That tool is on amazon , ZKTOOL ZK013, a.co/d/friEj7r - If you re-use the cam bolt; it will let it and it will blow up the motor.

      Why can’t you reuse the bolts? Is this all or just the 15mm on the passenger end?

    Happened to my 2019 malibu. The pump debris spun the exhaust camshaft reluctor so I knocked the reluctor back in place. Chevy should fix these cars for free when this happens. Dirty oil is what clogs up the pump screen and burns it up. On the new pumps Chevy removed the small pump screen.

      Yeah they should. Amazing it isn't a recall. Seems like a dangerous design. It can do major engine damage and you suddenly lose power brakes when it fails.

      Hey Mate, I have this issue now.. VP shattered and has left pieces in. I assume the reluctor has moved as after I turned the car off.. It doesn't start.. When knocking the reluctor back into place, how I know what the correct position is? Have done heaps or research but can find anything.. Any help is appreciated

      The hex on the cam shaft has a qr code on one of the flats. The single prong on the reluctor should "line up" with that

    Did this process to my 2018 equinox. Brakes went out and went stiff. Had to removed valve cover and clear debris from vacuum pump. Put everything back together with new vacuum pump. It’s not turning over. There’s power, the engine is cranking, spark plugs are not flooded, spark plugs have spark and fuel is definitely going to engine. It just keeps cranking but not turning on. Also tried attaching a booster pack to battery. The dash states “low engine power”. Any advice?

    • @yersky2
      @yersky2 4 місяці тому +1

      Reluctor wheel spun. Pull the valve cover completely and you can confirm by looking at the hex on the exhaust cam. There will be a qr code on one part of the hex and that will line up with a single prong on the reluctor wheel. Replace the cam if it's not lined(or tap lightly with a hammer until it's back where it needs to be but you didn't hear that from me....)

    bro _ qq - are those engines notorious for cosuming oil? got mine 6k miles only yet consuming oil

    • @Ethanthefenceman
      @Ethanthefenceman  Рік тому

      That could be worn engine cylinders or you could be having a pcv system issue and the turbo seals could be leaking causing the oil consumption.

    I’m concerned about those broken pieces from the cam reluctor falling down into the engine. Did you also check your oil pan before the first startup after replacing the pump?

    • @Ethanthefenceman
      @Ethanthefenceman  Рік тому

      No I didn't go into the pan however the owner stopped driving once it broke so all the pieces were in one place right at the scene of the crime lol. I'd imagine if you drove it around much the vibrations would spread them around. It seems it only be necessary to pull the pan if your broken pieces made it to the far side of the head by the timing chain where they could fall into the pan.

      @alybrown7199 Рік тому

      @@Ethanthefenceman Thanks that is good advice. Mine are all tucked in near the cam reluctor on the driver's side of the head. But I did notice there is an oil drain hole between the 1st and 2nd cylinder from the driver's side.

    my valve cover is hard take off... all screws removed...is there a trick to get it off?

    • @Ethanthefenceman
      @Ethanthefenceman  Рік тому

      Make sure you got the screws in the middle of it out. It might be stuck down good with sealant. Gently pry between it and the head and you should be able to break that seal. You can also try to work a blade in between to cut at the sealant and help start the break.

      There are but there's no guarantee that the used brain isn't already fried and we would still have to get it reprogrammed to her car. That's the kicker. Even if we bought a new one we still have to pay the stealership to program it. A new one is like 500$ its ridiculous.

    26:26 how do you remove that hose(my fiancé’s account)

    • @Ethanthefenceman
      @Ethanthefenceman  Рік тому

      I'm not sure of the proper way to remove it. I tried to use a pick in between the hose and the connector to slip them apart but the fragile hose just broke. Honestly a good solution could be to have some heat shink ready that will fit over the different sizes and just cut the hoses in places where you can splice them back together.
