1- Be good on the tools (excel, Sql, power Bi)
2- Be in an industry and stay for a while (industry mastery)
3- Specialize or Generalize? (Do you)
4- Softskills set you apart (communicating insights in ways that get to stakeholders efficiently)
5- Build a personal brand or portfolio (take Mo Chen's for example, structured, simple and understandable even for the non analytics folks)

Hi Mo Chen, I just wanted to say a huge thank you! Your videos have been a game-changer for me, and they've helped me land my first data analytics job. As a self-learned data analyst working in the construction industry as an engineer, your content has been incredibly valuable in guiding me along the way. Keep up the amazing work!

Very insightful, trying to grasp a lot of concepts at once will distract you in building a strong foundation. It’s better to stick to one grasp it then move to another one .Thank you Mo!

Jumping from tools has been my biggest pitfall as an analyst. This is my cue to gain mastery first.

Even if you don't have a degree you can be a data analyst, but a degree of finance is a great bonus.

I definitely agree that being strong in Excel, SQL and having solid Communication skills will take you very far
Are there any online resources for improving domain knowledge in finance / business analysis?
I've been a marketing analyst for 5+ years but I'm looking to branch out
