I’ve never had a contractor say we love the challenge, and we love what we do ?? If in a fairytale land I could find one like this , Your hired , wait , how much per hour ???
We just follow the drawings. Anything structural is done by an engineer. Unless you have that specific designation, I think we are doing the right thing. And even if you did, all engineers do it different.
Awesome. Looking to consider something like this in my reno plans. Small 1000 sq ft bungalow in Mississauga but only the living room/kitchen. What is the price range to do something like this?
It’s definitely a game changer when it comes to the bungalows. Head over to our website and fill out a quote form. Someone will get back to you to discuss your plans. Every ceiling and situation is different.
Great job guys, did you put a 4 ply 2x10 on each end of the ridge or just the one end ? I'm guessing that's for helping the walls from bowing out ? just curious why you didn't change out the hips to 2x10s ? I know that would be a hard task ,I'm guessing that building is about 20 feet wide ? thanx
you can eliminate collar ties and spreading by 'hanging' the rafters off of a ridge beam . not a ridge rafter but a beam calculated to withstand the load. this save time , material and money if the length of the rafters is excessive then simply add two more beams about one third of the way down from the top on each side .
Wow, I don't know where to start. Our budget was $250,000 but the retaining wall in back of house cost us double that. Total in end was close to 800,000. But it is a brand new home.
Wrong, collar ties do not keep the walls from bowing out. That’s what rafter ties do. They are two very different member. Collar ties only prevent uplift. I never saw a ridge beam on this roof, meaning the roof is not self supporting. I am an engineer, and this roof is completely wrong. I am shocked an engineer signed off on this.
Thank you for your input. Unfortunately you must be a UA-cam engineer because you don’t know what you’re saying. But it’s ok. There are negative Nancys all over the internet. This is OVER engineered both signed off by an engineer and city inspectors just so you know. Hope you have a better day today Adam.
Don’t hate buddy. It doesn’t pay to hate. Thanks for viewing though. If you don’t like my delivery, please feel free to never watch again. Hope you have a great year and find a way to stay positive.
Love the attitude and energy, great information and looks great.

Aren't these collar ties a tad to high to be considered rafter ties so how does this ceiling meet code?
Great Video - Question can hip roofs be vaulted?
yes, but would likely require something like a steel a frame to support the hipped end(s) of the ridge beam
I don’t understand “reinforcing rafters” and spiking them into an undersized hip? Any thoughts?

You are awesome bro!
Any update of finished ceiling

Watching this on mute looks like a rap video at the end. Good info. Thanks!
Wish you could show how air conditioning and heater system would go in a room like this
This is a bungalow so the venting and duct work all comes from the basement.
Oh! Okay, my parents are doing this to their living room right now and I want them to have the best way to place the vents. Thank you
I would always consult a professional HVAC engineer to determine the best locations for your space. Generally under windows or close to.
Would have been cheaper and easier to Rip off the roof and redo it imo. Sometimes a retrofit costs more.
yep !
Hi what would a project like this cost?

When kids look at this video 50 years from now they're going to see a White guy talking like a rapper from the 2000's. It'll be hilarious.
