Great video..just took delivery of my pearl white gr circuit pack a few days ago , I love it for sure. The only thing I thought about the carbon wrap over the top of the forged carbon roof is that it probably provides UV protection for the roof better than lacquer which can degrade. As Toyota assume it will be an everyday car and offer a 5 year warranty compared to a Lamborghini or Ferrari which is probably garaged 90% of the time.. also imho I sort of think the forged carbon itself kinda looks a bit like a fake granite kitchen worktop from 15 years ago..? Maybe it’s just me... each to their own, TBH I wouldn’t have worried if the roof had been body-coloured either , like the aluminium body panels are.. knowing is better than showing..
I think that it would only sell to a few dedicated fans here, because the price would be $45K-$50K for a 3 cyl compact car, and Toyota would still be taking a loss on every one sold. Maxx Performance in Melbourne, Australia have been doing some impressive and extensive performance development work on this car. Well worth looking into.
IDEA FOR YARIS ViDEO: Have some guest pro driver who drives and goes through the settings (normal, track, sport), and can he tell the ratio difference, does it feel like a proper rally car with a great ratio system?
i have a '17 yaris hatchback, same body style ish (mine looks like a mini soccer mom van bc its 4 door) same seats just more basic, and definitely way less horsepower, but shes still pretty nifty
I am lucky enough to own one and it is just phenomenal, it fits like a tailored suit, the best steering feedback on the planet, it’s a total joy. If you’re considering this as a possibility, just go for it, you will not regret it.
- Take it on a rally stage. - Compare it to old rally homologations, like 22B, Evo, Integrale, Audi Quattro... - compare it to a modded one - race it against a regular Yaris 😂
9:52 it reminds me of my wife's 2005 Corolla hatch, that area around the seal collects all types of green waste if the car is parked outside. When you wash it, the filth runs down the taillights. The window seals and the pedals look almost straight out of 2001-2007 Impreza, which they likely are modelled on, given that Toyota own a large chunk of Subaru.
And I'm sitting in Vermont jealous that you can get 4 door Yaris hatches in manual in Canada. There must have been something like 20 brought to the states - been searching forever and can't find one. Really hoping a Corolla GR comes to NA!
£32000 for a Yaris. Have I been living under a rock for the last 5 years (while driving my current car). When did cars become SO expensive to the point I don’t know how anyone can afford to buy a new one
Exhaust is easy fix. Just get some aftermarket Titanium exhaust and I believe there's actually a optional GR Sport exhaust you can get that sounds louder.
I'd love to see some tuning stuff (possibly comparing tuned cars to yours or yours if you tune it to stock). I'm getting one in April and am more excited than I can put into words
Matt, that pedal spacing bit you don’t like, well it’s on purpose. I’m sure you know, but for other readers, rally drivers do a lot…a lot…of “left foot braking.” The spacing to the left actually makes it easier for that technique, it’s not a track thing so much, but a slippery snow and gravel road thing. Throttle mashed or consistent, then modulate the brakes with your left foot while turning. More brakes turn in, less brakes lets the car drift. It’s magic rally driving stuff, mate ;). (Readers who not believe me? Go to a rally school, it will literally be one of the first things taught.)
I really like that jacket! Where'd you get it? As for the car, I'd be curious to see how it does in day-to-day usage. If a GR Yaris is to be your "daily", then its important that it can handle daily activities. Is it comfortable to commute in, does it have adequate trunk space for groceries or longer items, can it take the occasional passenger or two, etc.
Mat, would be really interesting to see how the new GR Yaris compares to the only other similar hot hatch with that set up in the S1, I have a standard S1 and I am a massive fan of the GR and would love to see the differences between them both! Super Mini Hot hatch drag race?
Love the idea of having this pocket rocket. I reality I’d more likely loose my license in one instead of something with more bhp. It looks the business
When things settle down, a nice long adventure driving through the best driving routes through Scotland would be excellent. Areas like routes through the Cairngorms and the route 500 would be an excellent test of this car.
The thing is, if I'm not mistaken, it's not only the case in Britain, but on mainland Europe as well, at least in Belgium. That's how it appears to me at least. Don't really mind tho, the extra luxury isn't why I'd buy it and I wouldn't pay the extra money for it.
This car is an absolute Banger in Switzerland. Every model available was sold before even before the car hit the showroom. It's a true, dignified continuation of the legacy of the "little japanese bombs", that we liked so much in the past. Cool it still exists.

Giggling like a school girl...genuine love right there
😄👍🙋♀️
Maxx Performance in Melbourne, Australia have been doing some impressive and extensive performance development work on this car. Well worth looking into.
IDEA FOR YARIS ViDEO: Have some guest pro driver who drives and goes through the settings (normal, track, sport), and can he tell the ratio difference, does it feel like a proper rally car with a great ratio system?
With all these cars, Mat is pretty much a midlands Shmee150. 😂😂
shmee is just an annoying narcisist sob
@@georgeionescu6425 I dont really know what shmee's content is about other than picking up his new mclaren for the 100th time
But far more likeable and watchable than Schmee!
You realise you've no idea what shmee is like, watching light entertainment car vlogs is not real life
Schmatt?
You have got to make some races at the track with Yaris and its rivals.
11:00 - I have size 12s I have the opposite problem with many, many cars. Getting my feet catch the brake as I press the clutch.
Mat, here’s an idea for a video: enter a rally in it and see how you go!
He is a very bad driver.. 😬
Mind you, that rear end looks badass...
Agree
Pun intended?
@@hamzajunaid11022 not really, I mean it
@@lgz2006 oh okay ... It's just that its also a perfect pun too
@@hamzajunaid11022 oh okay then
Do a GR Yaris vs the regular Yaris, in a slew of tests. Lets see what the GR brings to the table.
2doors, manual instead a boring cvt, 100+ more horsepower, 4 wheel drive, lockable diffs....
i have a '17 yaris hatchback, same body style ish (mine looks like a mini soccer mom van bc its 4 door) same seats just more basic, and definitely way less horsepower, but shes still pretty nifty
- compare it to a modded one
- race it against a regular Yaris 😂
This is really really nice, one of a kind in its section.
Didn't you review this the other month? Either way, I would love one of these!
We need a real driving review and More details about the suspension, torque, and 4wheel drive system
As a Canadian I’m intensely jealous of your ability to even get one
Same. Even getting a regular Yaris is a chore here now (have to order it and they pull it from Quebec allotment).
And I'm sitting in Vermont jealous that you can get 4 door Yaris hatches in manual in Canada. There must have been something like 20 brought to the states - been searching forever and can't find one.
Really hoping a Corolla GR comes to NA!
@@bmeryman hmmm it’s all about perspective in the end I guess! Yaris manuals are cheap in my neck of the woods
Darn, I really do want one of these!!!
£32000 for a Yaris.
Have I been living under a rock for the last 5 years (while driving my current car). When did cars become SO expensive to the point I don’t know how anyone can afford to buy a new one
The engine sound in the car just reminded me of classic gran tourismo lol
_"Let me know in the comments, I WILL read through them."_
Yeah, right! 🤣
Pretty sure hks have one pushing 475hp on stock internals which is crazy prob will blow soon but still impressive
Oi! @carwow where are those GRY vids that Matt promised here?
10:37 Wow ! We missed that 🥺
Boomerang. Almost.
Only real ones know the daily in the title was spelt wrong
it was daly lmao
it was spelt as daly lol
Jdnd
It's still daly in my notifications

Matthew is such a low-key, but not low-key flexer! 😂
Would love to hear one of these with a proper exhaust
Lmao I had so much fun just watching the donuts I felt like I was there:))) hahahaha ITS A YARRRRIS
Direct injection turbo charged cars do not last as long as naturally aspirated ones. That said I’m sure it will be more reliable than most.
"It's not really a yaris....... It's amazing you can do this in a yaris" 🤣😊
Supra no manual
Yaris :)
Exhaust , tune , seats , coilovers , wheels = perfect
Mat, would be really interesting to see how the new GR Yaris compares to the only other similar hot hatch with that set up in the S1, I have a standard S1 and I am a massive fan of the GR and would love to see the differences between them both! Super Mini Hot hatch drag race?
I finally found my dream car: Very small but fun one.
That Toyota will go 100 years without dying
Same with the MK1 Focus RS - not sent down the line like the cooking models. That’s what makes cars like this so special!

“Can’t do it because of RHD and wiring looms” never mind Japan drive RHD 🙈
@@iwantsexseemyvideo5157 I know right!
i know, madness. I would love to have the good stereo system too :(
It’s complete BS, Toyota technician said that the wiring loom is no different. Toyota just chose not to give us Brits the extra kit.
The thing is, if I'm not mistaken, it's not only the case in Britain, but on mainland Europe as well, at least in Belgium. That's how it appears to me at least. Don't really mind tho, the extra luxury isn't why I'd buy it and I wouldn't pay the extra money for it.
Watching this for the second time , not sure why its not liked n subscribed yet
Hopefully this will spark a new flood of homologated WRC cars ❤️
What i love and hate about the toyota yaris GR
love - its a gorgeous car and a modern icon
hate - i dont have it
What is this 3 cylinder turbo crap? I'm glad they don't sell it in America, here a V6 is small!
What a lovely car. Although being honest had I been looking for something small and lively I don't know if I would prefer it over bmw 1 or 2.
This car is an absolute Banger in Switzerland.
Every model available was sold before even before the car hit the showroom.
It's a true, dignified continuation of the legacy of the "little japanese bombs", that we liked so much in the past.
Cool it still exists.
this GR yaris is literally my dream car, ive never had a goal but this is it lol
