      keep it brother! you never know how the future went, maybe its the last car that its that cool! if i would own one, seriously half of my money would go into this thing, i would tune the engine with better parts but not giving the car more power. maybe 300hp, there is no need for more power, its a perfect car for rallying on the street. no other car is faster in corners than this beauty!

    Got one. Love it and what's an added benefit it can be the family 'shopping trolley' giving you another car in the stable, without using up all of your sports car points. So you can have a second sports car as well ! I've got a 600hp/tonne '7' and in all honesty, unsighted point to point back road the GR would walk away from it. The sheer confidence inspiring grip level is just off the charts.

    I own a number of iconic homologated rally and rally raid vehicles but the GR Yaris is currently #1 on my desire list. Trouble is, I live in the United States so this is forbidden fruit for us. I already own a GR Corolla but it's just not the same. It does not have the same reason for existence behind it. That car was never designed an engineered to go win the World Rally Championship like the GR Yaris. So how do I solve my dilemma? I'm moving to Europe. I'm currently in the process of gaining Italian citizenship just so I can have this car in my life. THAT is how bad I desire to own one of these. I'm willing to change countries!
    There are many great YT videos out there covering the brilliance of the GR Yaris but I think Ben has just created the best offering. He really captures just why this tool is so adept at the job. There is another YT video out there covering this car and in the comments a Porsche GT3 owner commented on the GR Yaris in a disparaging way. But in the video, the GR Yaris was just one second off the lap time of the Porsche GT3. 1 SECOND! The GR Yaris is just a remarkable piece of engineering from one of the last manufacturers you would think would create it. A truly special moment in automotive history. Those of you lucky enough to have access to one of these, you need to take advantage of it as this truly maybe the last time a piston driven car such as this will be released to the public.
    Great job Ben and your team!

      Can't you go into Mexico and bring one back over the boarder?

    • @abikepeddler
      @abikepeddler 2 місяці тому +2

      @@79blustone Funny you should mention that. I'm originally from San Diego and I'm actually in San Diego right now visiting. Went to a weekend car show on Saturday here in San Diego and they're sat a GR Yaris sitting on Mexican plates. I spoke with the owner, he got the car directly through Toyota corporate (he was friends with the higher-ups) and it was sold to him on a bill of sale, no title. He got some Mexican plates from God knows where, threw them on it and he's just driving it around SoCal! Pretty ballsy. It was amazing to see one in the flesh in California. As to finding one in Mexico and bringing it into the U S., it would be a pretty big undertaking. Might look a little odd seeing a Mexican plated buzz bomb rolling around Oregon or some other non-border state. The PoPo might be overly interested in something like that, no? Not worth getting your car impounded over i.m.o. Sucks that Toyota couldn't find a way to bring these into the US. My GR Corolla Circuit is great and all but it's just not the same thing. It's just not.

    • @79blustone
      @79blustone 2 місяці тому

      @abikepeddler What a legend 👏, that's a great story, most appreciated. The one with the 'circuit pack' or 'Rally' or whatever its called in its domicile is the one to have, basically it's the one with the Forged alloy wheels, limited slip diffs. As there are a few variants. It's a fantastic car, they didn't sell it in the US because of the lack of normal Yaris being bought their. That's why you guys have missed out, but to be fair the Corolla looks nice and virtually the same spec. Imagine seeing a GR Yaris in Southern California, that would be so cool, you would be practically thee only person in the whole of the US in one of those. There must be a way to legally be able to own and drive one surely?

    • @abikepeddler
      @abikepeddler 2 місяці тому +1

      @@79blustoneYeah as I understand it you're correct. Because the standard Yaris has not been federalized for sale in the US, the GR variant is also not going to meet federal standards to be sold here.
      I own a 2023 GR Corolla Circuit pack with the aluminum hood, front and rear LSD diffs, and $15,000 forged carbon roof. It's a great car. And I'm sure it's 90% of a GR Yaris. But the longer wheelbase, additional weight and likely less stiff structure will all add up to make it just a little less... "Yarisee". Personally, I think the GR Yaris will be looked back upon as one of the all-time greats. When you consider it came from a major manufacturer at a time when no other major manufacturer was even considering homologating a car to go win a race series, well it is a marker in history. And when you consider the fact that, in the real world, with potholes, wet b-roads, and off camber corners it can run with cars five times it's cost, well it is just a hero car. 5 minutes ago I found out that my buddy Sam, who just spent 10 days in Japan, rented one for the time they were there. He's actually a general manager at a Toyota dealership here in the US. He says you now understands why I love them so much. He said the car was simply epic. (No he wants one)
      Unfortunately, there is no way to bring one legally into the US. Canada has a 15-year rule, no car can be imported into Canada that is younger than 15 years old. The United States rule is 25 years. No car can be imported into the United States that is younger than 25 years old (with the exception of some very specific, exempt cars). So it's going to be quite a wait to get a GR Yaris into the US legally.

      After seeing the first one on the street i was getting goosebumps and thinking "holy shiiiit, this rhing looks fantastic! better than i ever can imagine!"😁 next the engine. BMW is the King in building inline 6's so its the perfect combination of both. you can get a 1000hp so easy out of the B58, sure you can also get 1000hp on a 2jz but you will pay another price 😅

    I've had my GR Corolla (US) for just under a year, and I can say without a doubt, this is one of the best cars I've ever owned and driven.
    Describing it as a pocket rocket is 100% spot on. It very much is a 'point and go' car - pairing this much power with incredible grip is a wonderful recipe.
    The few items that I wish were different is the availability of colors (I wanted to get a grey one, but it wasn't offered on anything except the Circuit Edition - and I have the Premium Edition), braided steel clutch and brake lines, and the front dash speakers that used standard mounting hole spacing.
    I have not taken it to a track, so I cannot speak of its behaviors in that arena, but I have enjoyed it a fair amount on backroads, and it is an absolute riot to drive. :) It will go as fast as you are willing to push, and likely can handle more than we mortals are comfortable with (there is only 1 Ben Collins and sadly I am not a WRC driver).
    Endless thanks to Akio Toyoda for pushing to get this car made.

      I've had both and as good as the Grale was, I couldn't go back to LHD, terrible fuel consumption and Lancia reliability. The Yaris has a 10 year, 100k mile warranty.
      But the Lancia is prettier and timeless.

    My mate bought one after much pondering and looking lustily at Civic type R's. He absolutely loves it but frets over his license, he claims it tells lies about how fast you;re actually going. It shares a garage with an Honda S2000 and a Mitsubishi Pajero Evo. He has interesting taste and a good eye.

    Try the i20N, for me who drove both it's a more angry road car and it was more spacious and even lighter than the GR. So I bought one, tracked it a few times too and it's great fun.

    GRY painted Nero Purosange - aka metallic blackberry - with silver wheels would look cool.
    Speaking of Purosange, when are you going to review the latest Italian 4WD? Andiamo!

    Awesome video Ben!
    Across the pond the yanks get the Corolla GR version, and it has an interesting issue with the rear end clutch pack going into protection mode in like a lap you just have front wheel drive...and this is purely a programming thing because their is not temp sensor on it even. People have put diff coolers on them and there was zero improvements. One channel asked the one of the engineers about it while reviewing the 2025 model and sadly they did nothing to fix this complaint at all. LOL

    • @khamid1
      @khamid1 3 місяці тому +1

      The GRC does appear to have more of an issue with the system going into limp mode. Some wonder if it is the transfer case rather than the clutch pack.

    • @sickjohnson
      @sickjohnson 3 місяці тому

      @@khamid1 From the mouth of the engineers at Toyota on that project there is no temp sensor...so it is 100% over protection granny protection math as they admitted.

    I don’t know who came up with the design first, but I’m not surprised I like the lancia you’re referring to because I discovered some year’s ago that mercury made a fox body Capri, and that I liked it better than the fox body mustang

    Ben, I know you own a Lancia Delta Inter, but the Yaris is the baby of the Toyota Celica Gt4 legendary rally cars. The cars that finally ended Lancia's domination of Group A rally. Remember? Yes, you guessed. I own a Celica. 😂

    Owned mine for nearly 4 years and can't ever part with the thing. Just to put things into perspective I recently drove a new GT3RS around a track for 50 laps and it felt boring compared to this thing on my local mountain roads. The worse the road, the better this little nugget gets. Haven't found anything better to be honest.

    Manual 'box, four wheel drive and 257 horsepowers: Toyota has done it right, I really love such a car exists.
    I wouldn't make a comparison with the Integrale - Three decades of technological advantage clearly give an advantage to the GR. Still, it actually is the true successor to it.
