After hearing that his special forces buddies were pinned down by 1000 NVA soldiers, he volunteered to help rescue them. Boarding the helicopter with only a knife, he helped coordinate the rescue effort and personally saved 8 of the 12 man team. He was shot 37 times, including in the stomach, chest and head and also received shrapnel from multiple grenades. He even got stabbed with a bayonet, only he pulled the knife out of himself and proceeded to kill the moron who thought it was a good idea to stab him. After the battle, he was airlifted to base and declared dead by the doctors and placed in a body bag. Well, this pissed him off to no end and when a friend recognized him and brought a doctor over, he spit in the doctors face. He never received much attention for his actions after the war and certainly never bragged about it. It was only when one of his special forces buddies recommended he receive the Medal of Honor that his exploits become known. It would take an act of Congress and a living eyewitness who, unbeknownst to Benavidez was still alive for him to win the Medal of Honor. Now that is one serious bad motherfucker.

Where's Ross from the battle of Hacksaw Ridge in WW2 where he saved around 60 injured men in one night when his whole battalion retreated due to the sheer amount of Japanese charging them and he stayed behind, all alone, has no gun due to what he believes in, on top of a plateau surrounded by Japanese and brought every single one back down from a cliff using only a rope and then later receives the medal of honor.
