- Опубліковано 18 бер 2016
- If your steering wheel is off, not level, looks crooked, and you have a 2nd generation Dodge Ram 4x4 (1994-2001 1500's-2500's and/or the 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 - 3500), I got a solution that doesn't cost a dime and only takes 5 minutes tops!!!

i need theses videos cuss this hella helps me its not for nothing
My front end has been off a while. I changed the upper ball joints yesterday. Drives straight and no sway. This vid is my next step. Thanks. Now my son won't be saying why can't you fix that? Gonna use him as my helper. Thanks again for the help.🤘
Thanks, I had alignment done and that put my steering wheel off center. So after watching your video, I will make the steering wheel adjustment myself instead of bringing it back to the shop.
Big ol’ socket there hope he stays away from my house. Lol great video thanks
Holy hell he's got a 15 inch socket.. How gigantic its that truck and his hands 0.0
😂😂😂
Very helpful👍👍👍. On mine the bolts were 3/4 but perhaps that was changed with the previous owner having MOOG suspension. Another tip to bring out is re-greasing all the fitting on these ol trucks will help the steering not be so jank
thank you for your comment. if you haven't already, subscribe to the channel, it's free, i have a lot of videos for this truck.
15 inch socket
thank you!!!
Thanks, can' wait to try. my 4x4 2015 2500 only has a a slight right pull (not really enough to go spend for an alignment ) but for some reason recently the steering wheel got to be almost 90 degrees from level.
Best video on this i found...right to the point! Thx dude!
Thank you brother for your comment. Please subscribe to my channel to help promote me to do other videos like this. This is scription is free. It’s gratitude like yours that motivates me. Have a great day
That is so simple but so very helpful!
Great job. Worked just like the video. Thanks.
Thanks
That will change you toe adjustment also !!!!
No. It moves both tires.
Good video, thanks for keeping it simple.
my problem: those bolts hit the crossmember, so can only do a quarter turn. tapping with a hammer, they won't come out.
You have to unloosen the nuts on those bolts so they don’t hit the crossmember
Which way did you turn it to move left/right
Thank you!
A 15 inch socket!!? Holy fuck man. What size drive rachet are you using and where'd you find it? I would love to showcase a 15inch socket at the shop. Thank you
so the adjuster next to the Pittman arm is the steering wheel, and the adjuster on the very outer tie rod is for wheel toe?
that "adjusting sleeve" connected to the tie rod at pitman arm is what you will rotate either way depending which way you got to go to straighten out your steering wheel.
conquryourfear thanks!
conquryourfear I just spent about 30 mins messing with mine and my steering wheel didn't move an inch, is there anything else that could cause it?
so if doing this by yourself, you would loosen the bolts, turn the steering wheel straight from inside the vehicle and then retighten the bolts down? Thanks!
No.
You park the truck so your wheels are straight, then twist that bracket until your steering wheel is centered
Do you know the torque spec for those bolts?
Can't wait to try this tomorrow, and can't believe it's this simple. I thought removing the steering input shaft from the gear box and readjusting on the input splines would be the solution.
torque spec: tight. sorry, don't have that technical spec
I looked on a forum and found 40 ft-lbs. Seems about right for pinch bolts like that.
Ryan C aright. Cool. Thanks for your diligence!!
thanks the vib helps
Got a 99 dodge 1500 2WD trying to get steering wheel centered, with new tires the truck was pulling to the right/passenger side more profoundly than before. Did a radial pull switch on steers, which greatly reduced the pull, however the steering wheel is still not centered at all. Also FRS has been rubbing on wheel well so much it rubbed a hole into it, Measured the gap on each side, and it’s about 1/2” back towards cab on FRS. We measured a different vehicle and it too had this also in same FRS with no problems, so wondering if should pull steering wheel off to center that way or do it like in this video. Anyone got an opinion on my problem?
You ever figure out how to on a 2wd?
Hello, I installed the complete Ri Fab tie rod assembly on my 2nd gen 3500 4wd, it does not have that collar your spinning. But my steering wheel is way off. And ideas on how I can straighten it? I was going to pull it it off and straighten it but it’s grooved
I don’t see how yours doesn’t have it. If it’s a 4 wheel drive it has to have it
@@conquryourfear I sent the picture of what I have. I got ahold of the maker and they explained to me what I had to do, I figured it out. All good but I really thank you for your reply!
It won’t let me send the pic, I’m sorry
Trucks front end should be up on a lift or with jack stands I'd assume?
no sir
Yeah the wheels on the ground would prevent them from moving while adjusting steering arm.🤘
Thanks man. That was helpful
happy that this video helped you out. i have a lot more videos on fixing Dodge trucks. check em out. and if you haven't already, subscribe to my channel, it's free!!! and it helps me to believe I am not doing these videos for nothing. take it easy.
My 01 is a 2wd and does not have that sleeve with the 2 bolts, how can i do it there?
I know. That’s a bummer. This works for 4 wheel drive 2nd gens
15 inch socket?1
This only corrects for toe in / toe out on the tires and has nothing to do with realigning the steering wheel. In order to change the alignment of the steering wheel...you have to pull the pitman arm, or find someway to remove the steering sleeve from the gear box and reset it.
Wrong
Rain Man you are incorrect. The man in this video is correct. This part is called the drag link shortening it moves your steering wheel to the right and lengthening it moves the wheel to the left. You are thinking of tie rods which adjust camber and caster or toed in toed out..
"Unloosen these two things..."? Oh, so you want us to _tighten_ those two things then? Interesting.
Not 15 inch but 15 mm socket
thx for thevid man, i have a 5.9 v8....not sureif ugoodon trans 46re..dam thing keeps erraticly switching gears while crusin and jumps from 4th to 3rd at times for no reasdon at all i just replaced the motor cuz the valves seats on my old heads were beat to hell according to the local machine shop...could the trans be the cause of all of this...my trucks motor is starting to act the same way the old motor did machine shop told me its because the way dodge built the heads and said the way they were manufactured was junk ...everyone eles truck i see runs fine...would the trams cause the valve seats to be worn out? ?
check out my playlist....have a video on this transmission problem.
+conquryourfear already reaced pressure solinoid...still does the same shit
you bought just one solenoid or the entire kit?
+conquryourfear just the 1 the gov pressure sensor
I hate to say this, because you already removed the transmission pan once, but, why didn't you get the entire kit while you had that pan off? If I was you, I would at least try the entire kit before dropping load of cash in swapping out that tranny.
What torque specs did you tighten it down to? 225?
good-and-tight. the bolts looks like they can take it.
So, this will this work on a 1999 Dodge Durango 4x4?
If it has that same sleeve that I adjusted on my truck
No it will not. Not the same suspension or steering system
Isn't "unloosen" tighten?
Lol. Yes sir. My bad
Thank you so much!

My collar is a bear to twist
Try to run a big screw driver to help twist it
@@conquryourfear yeah, I use a screwdriver.. problem is, there's not much clearance for one. I got it to move, but it's a bear.
@@deasttn did you WD 40 it?
@@conquryourfear I lubed it up. My guess is mine is lil misshapen
