Oh my goodness. Where on earth did you get Eddy Wally to pop up in your raining man animation? The guy saying ‘wow’ and winking is an absolute legend in Belgium. He was a singer, who started out as a ladies’ handbag salesman on markets back in the sixties, and developed into a sort of media phenomenon for acting, turning up in all sorts of tv shows, and he was a bit of a not-intirely-in-tune-with-reality kind of person. He passed away a few years ago, but the legend lives on
I'm glad you both enjoyed the bottle! Its absolutely a unicorn among unicorns. And my own bottle is relegated to the back of the cabinet, so it will hopefully last well into the next year or so! I tried the 07.1 last week as my first octomore which has a phenol content of about 200 ppm. I have to say I was a bit disappointed. I really lave peaty/smoky scotch, my shelf is literally a warehouse for lagavulin, laphroaig, talisker, etc but the one I tried was really weak in terms of "smokiness". Maybe they gave me a shot from an nearly empty bottle which was opened a long time ago because no one else drinks stuff this expensive. I am really confused because Rex and Daniel seem sooo excited about octomore. Guess I'll have to try another one... my poor wallet :D
Tried whole 8 and 9 line ... have full bottle of 9.1. at home ... From these my favourites are 8.1 or 8.4 without clear winner ... I have 9.1 because it was for good money and it is my favourite from 9 line ... All of them are vastly SUPERB whisky ... its not just peat blast, but very rich and interesting underneath the thick peatsmoke layer ...
The week that Octomore 10.1 was released at the LCBO (Liquor Control Board of Ontario) it was sold out. I didn't even have a chance to pretend that I would spend the $220 CAD. 😡
I just bought 10.1, despite that people shit on it all over the internet, mostly coz it's the only one available around my area. That's the cheapest Octomore on the market though. To be honest it strongly reminded me of Ardbeg 10, but much more intense. Tho I was expecting stronger peat, but it actually felt quite smooth. Still no regrets.
Bought a bottle of Octomore 11.1 and had to search up a review byyou great guys. Rex.... you ARE the Mooch! 4 Octomores and Lagaluvin 16! A standing ovation to you. Thankyou both for revisiting and exploring these great tipples.

Also, I had an Octomore 9.1 that I made last as long as I could, because in this province, it's noticeably north of $200. When I finished that bottle, it was like all the happiness left the world. I need another one.
Had the pleasure of the Octomore 13.3 at Rock and Rye on Thursday night. This was a paradox for me as I am not usually drawn to peaty scotch, but this thing was amazing. From the first taste through the precise addition of 1.8ml of water (it does not take much to release the heart of this beast -- they provide a dropper and a chip of dark chocolate), it was as varied as you could want without losing any of the toasty goodness characteristic of the breed. I am going to have to add this to my home collection. Treasure.
AHHHH! Daniel Whittington! The voice of the Somm and reason! You are wise in the ways of Islay; and have brought wisdom to the Mooch! I looked for Octomore in every city that I went to. The only places that I found Octomore was Atlanta and South Bend, Indiana. Both had 8.1, and Atlanta had 9.1). That was the first episode my wife really was looking forward to watch. It is really funny, she usually doesn't like peated whisky. Ardbeg, Laphroaig etc. aren't on here list but she looooves Octomore. The peat-level is so over the top and therefore tastes so different that she really enjoys it very much! I already had to buy two bottles of Octomore (08.2 and 10.3) because she loves it so much.
It's definitely not as peated in taste as i thought 👍the 9 and 10 batch taste so good. A lot of people told me it is hardly enjoyable. 🥃 9.1 Dialogus so good
I picked up a bottle of Ochdamhmor 8. 1 in a Sydney bottle shop recently. I don't know if it's the bush fires down here or some mad Frankenstein distiller on Islay but that peat blew my pallet back into the 80s. Definitely not my favourite but it's definitely one of a kind a worth your time.
Since we are in the holiday season you guys should make a video about which pie goes best with what whiskey. Pecan, pumpkin and sweet potato pie and the whiskey they should be paired with.
The "funky cheese" note generally comes from x.3 expressions, in which only Islay-grown barley is utilized. I would imagine that they're more precious about their own crop as well as the resulting distillate, resulting wider cuts being taken and, consequently, more challenging flavors, much like Springbank.

Daniel!!! Which of these was used in Diamondback? I can't remember which I have at home for my blend... I think 7.x but the ppm is 207. I'd really like to know.
I finally tried Jameson after watching your Distillery tour with them. I had never tasted it because I equated it to the Bacardi of Whisky. I could have saved a ton of money trying to find a budget sipper. The fact that they have such a cool company makes it easy to buy a bottle for that purpose. Also, please don't give your canines a little sippy sip... they lack the ability to process alcohol at even a fraction of the efficiency of a human. Things quickly get toxic for them... but if your gonna go, whisky is a decent death at least.

@@bowendesign head distiller mentioned in one of the last LaddieMP streams that they recently distilled and barreled a batch of Octomore that rang in over 300, so we'll probably see it in the next 5-8 years.. lol
When someone offered me a bottle for sale I was hesitant but I'm glad I got it. The same person had one more bottle of 8.3 when he was selling his whiskey collection and I didn't hesitate. It's magnificent.
Does anyone realise that Event Horizon sold out in 1.5 hours, with a maximum purchase of 2 bottles per person. It was about $1000 when i saw a bottle for re-sale.
Hey I am from South Africa, I drink Grant's blended whisky. I would drink it with still water or soda water. I was just wondering if you guys could do a review of this whisky.
Daniel, you don't need an invitation to go to the whiskey fest, we WANT you to go. We'll push you right out the door right now. Just leave the keys to the Vault on the desk.
Is it just me or do others also think that with peated whiskys and even some none peated whisk(e)ys it is common that special releases or Distillers Editions are finished in sherry, port, or other wine casks?
Its very common. Usually special editions are full maturation in a specific cask type, or may be finished in unique/unususal cask types, like Gaja Barolo, Ice Wine, Rivesaltes, Madiera, Mouton Rothschild, etc. Most times, these types are blended into regular bottlings to help balance/enhance the flavor profile. But on occasion will be selected for their unique character & be released as "Travel Retail" or Distillery exclusives.
I feel with things like this my hoarder instincts kick in, apparently only 2000 bottles of this will ever exist. I'm not sure I could work up the gumption to even open that bottle let alone finish it.
2019: "We really need to go to the fesival on Islay next year!"
2020: "Well that didn't go as planned..."

Also, please don't give your canines a little sippy sip... they lack the ability to process alcohol at even a fraction of the efficiency of a human. Things quickly get toxic for them... but if your gonna go, whisky is a decent death at least.
Dude I'm a sci - fi guy I would buy it for the name alone....
Even tough the movie did bad.
great movie, i missed it in the cinema, read some good reviews so i bought the vhs and it scared the shit out of me ...it was released 22 years ago...fuck
Epic movie, underrated Scifi classic imho
Octomore 8.3 was the cheese beast. One of my favorites and always sad I never grabbed a bottle. So sad to see it run out on UA-cam right in front of me... /sobs
300ppm and they've not repeated (pun intended) it yet!
@@bowendesign head distiller mentioned in one of the last LaddieMP streams that they recently distilled and barreled a batch of Octomore that rang in over 300, so we'll probably see it in the next 5-8 years.. lol
@@hoth2112 holy schnikeys. Wow I've got some saving to do! Cheers!
When someone offered me a bottle for sale I was hesitant but I'm glad I got it. The same person had one more bottle of 8.3 when he was selling his whiskey collection and I didn't hesitate. It's magnificent.
@@MondoNatureAl I know it's rare now, but it's made to be drunk. Glad it's got a good owner 🤠
Ain't no party like a Thanksgiving Octomore Party in the Vault! Happy Turkey Day!
It is amazing how well the pegged exactly what I'm doing right now
Does anyone realise that Event Horizon sold out in 1.5 hours, with a maximum purchase of 2 bottles per person. It was about $1000 when i saw a bottle for re-sale.
They definitely had Thanksgiving dinner waiting for them after this
How about Laphroaig 16, 2019 release? Has anyone tried this one yet?
Which is the one that is bright and sparkley and the smoke is sharp and peppery?
Hey I am from South Africa, I drink Grant's blended whisky. I would drink it with still water or soda water. I was just wondering if you guys could do a review of this whisky.
I love chasing an octomore with miller lite
Happy Thanksgiving gentleman!
Lol love that bottle down ceremony
Daniel, you don't need an invitation to go to the whiskey fest, we WANT you to go. We'll push you right out the door right now. Just leave the keys to the Vault on the desk.
Which is the best Octomore in your opinon??
Or I work for the railroad and I’m stuck at the days inn. So thanks for the entertainment.
1:30 Wanna go next year?
2020: nope
Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!
Rex you are looking more "The Dude" than ever... wheres the sweater??
he just needs to pour milk into his whiskeys
he could call it a "white texan"
I feel with things like this my hoarder instincts kick in, apparently only 2000 bottles of this will ever exist. I'm not sure I could work up the gumption to even open that bottle let alone finish it.
