Who is going to win... ROOSTER TAIL OR PANTHER MARTIN?!!

Thomas vs blue fox next
Black panther Martin for sure in July if your on eastern side.
Addicted Fishing roaster tail
I use panther Martin firetiger color
Rooster tail
Catching any fish in 10 minutes is a success for me haha...
getting a bite every 10m too loool
No kidding, and the roid-infused fish.... the trout i catch are like 2lbs at MAX, not the 6+ pounder here
@legacy378 just read the water and make your first cast really count, don't stand in one place and keep fishing the same spot. If you walk the perimeter as you fish you will have better results. You won't catch fish if you're fishing a spot without fish.
Catching anything in 40 cast is a win for me
Me too.
I have found the Panther Martin to work much better in the fast flowing streams I fish here in Colorado. The spinner blade just seems to work better in the currents than the Rooster Tail. Both seem to work equally well in still water such as ponds and small lakes. My go-to lure is a Panther Martin black body with gold or black blade with dots and feather dressing on the hook. Usually an 1/8 or 1/16 oz for browns, rainbows and brookies.
Agreed same here in Utah
I go with all black and red dots with gold spoon, but the 1/4 one, cast way further and get more ground
protip: your phone has a stop watch/ timer
I've always had great success with the Rooster Tail, not so much with the Panther Martin. In my opinion, the Rooster Tail won the challenge! Enjoyed watching!
Whenever I use panther Martin I always outfish everyone else, that being said it probably depends on the area
@@huntercomeford2687 Agreed. If you can't catch fish on a panther anywhere you are doing something wrong with your retrieve.
The pure excitement of Jordan hooking up right at his feet I could watch all day.
Both are great Trout spinners. My favorite Roostertails are black with silver blade and brown with copper blade in 1/16th oz. I like the black body with gold blade in the Panther Martin. Depending on the water depth... I use a few more pauses and twitches to change up the retrieve. Great contest!
Panther Martin are my personal favorite for trout
Same here. I catch ALOT on the Gunnison rive in Colorado. I use an 18th oz black body with yellow dots. Absolutely love it!!!
Going on my 1st fishing trip in a few weeks.. I've been watching your videos all night. You're literally teaching me to fish. Subscribed! Loved this video.
I have that exact same rod and had a problem sticking those panther martins into the trout a few weeks ago. I missed so many fish just like Jordan in this video! I think that rod is tippy enough to sling the lure out there but just doesn’t have enough back bone to drive in the hook.
Absolutely LOVE your enthusiasm Jordan!!! Addicted's videos are good but I look for ones featuring you specifically!
Impressed with the rooster tail, I need to get another one. I caught a big rainbow on the Missouri river in Montana on that same rooster tail. The PM yellow and sliver is my go to lure for trout in lakes all over Montana.
Both work well, but I find color to be more important than brand (although I do have a favorite): silver blade when sunny and/or clear water; gold blade when overcast and/or turbid water; black body or solid silver/gold. Pro tip, I add a few red stripes with a Sharpie on the top side of blade for added flare (always have a red Sharpie in my vest).
The black body rooster with silver blade and red tail is tough to beat. I would love to see a test of multiple colors on the same lure.
Rooster Tails are my go to for pond bass but my favorite trout lure is a 1/8th oz Kastmaster
This is great. A buddy and I used to fish together back in the mid 90's. He was all about the Rooster Tail and I only used Panther Martin's. It's funny that we are in 2020 and people are still pitting them head to head.
I'm 70 now and have been using them since the 70's. Fish love em.
@paseey MEPS aguila>rooster tail never used a panther martin just ordered 8 last week I'll come back and update and we'll see if they are better than agilia
@@silvatown7824 try a blue fox or a tassie
@@silvatown7824 what's the update? Its been 10 months!
You forgot the legend. The spinner that will literally catch any fish that swims, especially trout.--Mepps! Mepps #2 in silver or gold. Best spinner out there. You can cast them a mile, and you can retrieve them a slow speed and they won't sink. They stay in the stoke zone longer. Legendary design for sure!🤟😜🎣🎣🎣
You're absolutely correct I use maps aguila size 2-4 just ordered 8 panther martins we'll see how they do compared to the great french agilia
I really enjoyed your trial... have more of them. Thank you
I really like the red and silver with the yellow spots for the panther martins they work really well in my area.
I am a Wyoming trout fisherman the hook on a roostertail will always fail until you go to 1 8th of ounce or bigger but any size of a panther martin will hook and set always a better hooking lure.
nice video. you might to consider getting a file for your hooks. that was a game changer for me. hooks get dull quick and sharpening them every 30 casts or so really increases your bite/hook set ratio.
Lol i cant keep em long enough to get dull
Awesome stuff Jordan. Love using the brown trout rooster tail in 1/6 caught a nice 19” rainbow on it on the river. Thanks again for sharing. Awesome video as always!!
Now **this** is something I've often wondered. 2 absolute classics.
I've fished the blk and yellow panthers and gold or silver blades since I started as a kid. Always crushed em.. hands down for me the lure. Appreciate these fun comparisons!
Really enjoyed anything Addicted Fishing puts out. And I love the competition so much. You guys are awesome. This is what we need now with all of the lockdowns and crap. For me, I like the Mepps spinners but I have caught a lot of trout and warm water species with both the Panther Martin and Rooster Tail. Bass seems to like the Rooster Tail a lot. God bless.
I catch trout on spinners and spoons, but when people around me are fishing those and also Powerbait and I fish a wooly bugger and/or scud wet fly, I outproduce them with more and bigger catches. A casting bubble with a bobber stop or bead to create a slip rig will permit soft takes to get felt and set if running spin gear, but the most fun and successful is a fly rod from a kayak to get the fly running in a nonshore-ward direction. A really light leader is also very important: 2-4lb test.
Not to mention, the fish almost never swallow a spinner or spoon like they often do with Powerbait. So much better for quick release.
Hey Jordon. I just saw a video on Colorado in-line spinners on a variety of Florida fresh water fish. I'm wonder how they would work for trout. You can work them slower when the trout are finicky. I bought a couple and am going to try them.
Always love your fishing vids. Very entertaining and educational!
Two of my most favorite lures for trout. Damn you make me want to be out fishing. Thanks.
I love both of these lures and have a ton of each. If I were forced to pick one....it would be Panther Martin. When the RoosterTails arent working I can always get a bite or two from a Martin.
That black and gold panther Martin was absolutely slaying the trout at Navajo lake a couple weekend ago. A day and a half we caught over 100 most caught on the black and gold.
I need to know what pond that is !! Lol, That was a hog trout !!
Little gets pissed when you lose a fish. I’m surprised she doesn’t make you sleep on the floor.
I’ve always had good luck with roaster tails, one of my go to for trout fishing
My dear old dad told me that there's 2 kinds of fishermen those that sharpen their hooks and those that don't
In the last couple of weeks I’ve been lighting them up with a yellow Panther Martin, definitely my favorite lure.
Wonderful place, Nature gives real life
Been slaying trout for years with my favorite trout killer, the Panther Martin PMR-G. Mostly rivers and streams, but I'll even troll a PM at about 15-20 feet on smaller lakes.
New to fresh water fishing. What's a normal set-up in terms of line weight/type and reel size for all around lakes and streams. TYIA
I've been watching quite a few of your videos and like the ultralight setup (Okuma Celilo 6'6" Ultralight & 2000 series reel). Stores near me are out of the Celilo's, but I found an Okuma ROX 7' Ultralight Combo. Any idea how the ROX compares with the Celilo? What reel are you using? Most of these ultralight rods are rated for 2/4/6lb test, but you're running a 10lb test main line... should I care about the rod ratings?
Got my second spring chinook today. Insane day had 6 fish on caught only 1. Man do I love fishing!
There’s nothing better than fishing, even when you don’t catch anything it’s still better than going to the bar because if you catch something at the bar you can’t turn it loose 🤣
Henry Henry that’s the first haha! Gonna have to use that joke sometime man😂
Landed or overall hits, both seemed to just produce! Better keep 'em both handy in the tool kit!
I always use panther martins with feathers. I keep catching big fish.
Hi, great video. Can you please share which rod you were using? Okuma Celilo 7'6" UL???
I love both the panther martin and the rooster tail as you do. Like you, the panther martin in black and gold is my absolute go to spinner. I had great fun watching you fish that pond. Keep it up.
Can't decide. Just love the diversity of choices in my box to have my own competitions.
Really my best ones are the ones i find at a spot some chump left behind.🤣🐟🎣
I've had good luck with both I keep a good supply of both in my tackle!
Panther Martin all the way. Yellow with red spots is one of our favorites! Thanks for the awesome content! Watching your channel inspired us to start our channel not long ago and we already have 2 videos out!
A gold mepps Aglia with the orange tube on the shank of the treble is my favorite.
Love your vids Jordan!! That last big one had my heart racing!!😯😯😯
thx man im going trout fishing so these vids r helping
Grew up using rooster tails since I was a young lad. But I'm a fan of Panther Martin's and Mepps spinners with fly patterns on the hook.
I use to have the same issue with panther martins problems hooking up! Solution change hooks! G-F’s work awesome!
Amazing.
I just have a simple naive question. Why don't you use a swivel on the line? why do you make the knot directly on the spinner?
Noticed you weren't using braid. Is fluorocarbon line better when trout fishing from the banks? Dobyou recommended the 20lb Seguar Red label?
What size pound test line you using? Mono , fc? Thanks 👍
Do a bracket style
Thomas vs blue fox next
If you're just going trout lures
Hi, watching your videos a lot; for testing these four ; did you use any sinker or no ? Just wondering . Thanks
how do you stop line spinl with panther martin
I love both lures but the trout in the creek close to me only bite on silver roster tails
OK I have not looked at this yet but I say the lures of both should be the same color as different colors work for different things ! Also I have fished with both and as for me I,ll stay with the Rooster Tail and I started fish back in the 50,s when I was a kid I am 71 and a Rooster tail lover ! Now I,ll look at this thing !
Both are good spinners and both have their time and place.great video keep them coming
Gold Thomas Buoyant spoon is my go to on the McKenzie River 1/8-1/4oz.
Pistol Pete's & Blue Fox are my favorites. I've caught way more with them.
So the better test would be trolling all 4 in a lake. More controlled conditions, open water, same lines, same depths. Switch rod positions and which lures are on which rods.
Who knows, maybe a cat peed on one reel. The key is to eliminate all confounding variables.
That pink rooster tail in 1/8th ounce is super hard to find. My orders for it keep getting cancelled online. It by far is the best color I’ve used trout fishing.
How are there not more people there? Is this a private lake? This looks like so much fun! Wish we had big lakes stocked with bows like that in MI!
Could you please mention also the size that you have used? I see that Panter Martin 6 has 7grams. Rooster Tail 1/16 has less that 2 grams and I'm a bit confused, it looks too light for a lake and against that PM.
Oye amigo buenos videos te 👋 desde México una pregunta el panter martin # 9. Q medida tiene la oja solo se d el numero pero no ponen la medida
Hi, what type of fishing line you use? How many pounds of line?
I think the "hits" he got in the 1st 8 mins were the lure snagging structure 😂
def, watch his other vids. NEVER seen anyone miss so many "bites" in my life
Was thinking the same
I must be old. When did it get fashionable to hold your rod tip so low. My father would’ve worn a groove in the back of my head if I jerked off that many hits.
i dont know if you know but rainbows sometimes swallow and spit out a lure almost immediately, and you may feel it waaay too late
I was wondering use a pistol Pete were do you set a whate thanks Dennis
iv used rooster tails and a few panther martin inline spinners and only cot a few small fishs on them then i changed to a really cheap Ozark trail spinner in black and white and cot way more and bigger trout of my life over the more pricey rooster tail and panther martin inline spinner this year can you demo some Ozark trail inline spinner please id like to see you use them great video
Haha i can feel his excitement 🤣 im just learning how to fish and mine was a little rainbow trout caught me by surprise i thought it got caught on some weeds but as i reeled i got a fish! That was pretty cool havent caught anything since and ive gone two day in a row 😭 definitely gonna try these lures, powerbait sucked for me 🤣
Welcome to the sport. It's fun.
Big fan of spinners, I have had great luck with Fireperch pattern RT's. Black with a silver or gold spoon too in streams. I'm convinced trout like crushing that tail giving it an edge. Great video! You got some really great fish on cam.
I think you are the winner you got to go fishing 😉💪 my favorite spinner is copper steelhead seem to love it and orange spinners work just as good
Man guy, I got so excited follow by depression like I was the one fishing on that big girl that chased it in then popped off. Fun video man
Great video! Can you recommend trout fishing spot near Portland to Mt Hood? Trillium lake is a must!
Do you know what Pond # this is? I'd like to go fish this hole. If you wouldn't mind. Thnx
I fish in the southwest VA area we have some really good public trout fishing lakes and streams! The best bait in my area at least the one that works the best for me is a white marshmallow and millworm combination it works really well! And also the salmon egg peach power bait works well also...
I’m a Rooster tail guy, goes without saying I’m very bummed ! Fun video
Great challenge !! My favorite if black and yellow but with the black and red fly on the end. Cant believe i thought rooster tail was going to win lol how did u miss so many fish ??? Lol
rooster tail, pistol pete flies are my favorite
Beginner questions here so please excuse my ignorance. Are pistol
Pete flies for fly fishing?
Love how stoked you get!
Black and Brown No# 2 Rooster tails have caught me more trout, bass and crappie than I can remember in 37 years of fishing in all bodies of water.
What kind of rod and reel were you using? My favorite bait for trout is a black and yellow rooster tail or a white one. Or for live bait my favorite is mealworms!👍👍
Aside from the 2-6oz rod rating. What’s the model of the rod and the reel. I need to upgrade my trout rods.
I have used panther Martins back beginning of the eighties Fishing the state waterways and I Have wone a lot of contests at Pay lakes I'd have to give Panther Martin Top spot
That’s awesome fishing and it’s very awesome the dog know when one is hook based off your energy.
It's all about the tasmanian devil's man! People say they're trolling lures, but i've been using them from the shore for years. Maybe it's time for some Addicted Spinners? ;)
We need an Addicted Shnikees t-shirt!! Lol!! Love it!!
No
Jordan what a bought a rainbow vibex blue fox spinner works good
Good video! I personally like the Blue Fox for fishing river trout. They have many different varieties. I also use Panther Marlin occasionally but have very little success with them. Just sayin.
So is the panther Martin one I should buy for bluegills?
My favorite video. I bought a new hammered gold blade black with yellow spots. Might be my new favorite. Have you tried that one
Looks like hook upgrades are a good tip. I always like single hooks on my spinners. I feel like they give me a better landing ratio and less snags than trebles.
I've thought about doing that a fee times. Glad you commented on it. Gonna get some single
Hooks tomorrow n try it out.
Few not fee.
Were you using Fluorocarbon an Fishing Line? What size line were using
I was always told Panther Martin spinners are the best and I been using them since 1997. I use 2 PMF SY which is like a rooster tail style spinner. Silver blade with yellow and red rooster tail but it's a Panther Martin. I just caught a brown trout in a lake camping this weekend with it. I don't go fishing a lot but when I do I like using a spinner and I use that spinner.
The method ive meantioned helps if youre just starting out and dont have many lures just yet.
Gold and silver with the red dots got me my first wild steelhead! When I meet a person on the river thats having a shitty day I hand them one immediately. I have one on my rod right now! Panther Martin you make goood spinners!!
Are you holding the end of your rod down closer to the water for a specific reason?
