- The Polish Prime Minister has stated today that Poland must be ready for war, as war is coming to Europe's future. As this statement was made Poland rescinded the Treaty for Conventional Armed forces, and has begun to mask it's troops movements through the country and throughout NATO. Meanwhile a Russian drone exploded deep inside of Romanian territory. This has caused a great deal of concern throughout NATO for the fifth time. Russian forces are confirmed to have shot down one of their own SU-27s over the Sevastopol port area in a friendly fire incident.

Why the fck, would ANYONE sign an agreement to identify military asset location? Sounds absurd to me.
Pure stupidity
Sounds like either a holdover from Warsaw pact days or one of those mid 90s era treaties, either kept or made after fall of Soviet Union to reduce friction of former Warsaw pact states shifting their alignment to west. Pretty much same reason why there was an agreement for no "permanent" NATO bases in eastern Europe. Even if Russia were not in a great position to do anything about it, they probably still had more military capacity than do today.
Makes sense if both sides have this obligation.
It was part of transparency efforts to avoid accidental escalation that could lead to WW3. Such escalations had occurred due to misperceptions and this was a measure to avoid it. This is similar to the open skies treaty to monitor each other’s strategic forces. The dissolution of such treaties has military value in war but also could make war more likely.
it makes sense, as a de-escalation measure, if the treaty constrains both "camps".

Just as French President Macron changed the drawn line when he said soldiers from European countries could be sent to Ukraine, something the West has said they would not do so for the purpose of assuring their peoples they won't have to fight in the war, but at the same time, giving Putin the green light to attack and ramp up its barrage of missiles and drones against Ukraine, now, Poland is doing something similar. The line that the West drew is becoming vaguer.
No such line should have ever been drawn. Telling putin openly what you won't do under any circumstances is counterproductive at best. Other, better descriptions would make this text disappear by utube.
The West can no longer allow weak leaders like Scholz in Germany to dictate policy for all of us.

Why would Poland have a Arms treaty with Russia...... when russia does not follow it themselves. This is why the Polish General was dismissed...he was still reporting Polish deployments to russia. This is why poland sacked him and then publicly announced suspending this treaty in order to protect current NATO forces. To be clear though...the general has not actually done anything wrong...he followed protocolof the time until the ministry actually halted the arm treaty.
I sent this to a friend in Poland. She said there is no mention of any possible war.

Polands reason for changing their laws and not having to provide location of the troops clearly and quite obviously has to do with the general or whatever who was recently let go for counter espionage reasons. My bet is he was probably talking to much to people he shouldn't of been.

Regardless of what nato does , Poland does not want to set back and watch Ukraine fall. It's plausible that they might jump in to get Russia out of Ukraine.

If Poland would annex Belarus by aggression NATO would have no reason for moving in. No Art.5. So Russia would have another non NATO party to deal with. I think this could move a lot. And hence to the fact that Russsia immediately would move to Belarus and fight against Poland NATO sure could be kept out of theatre while Poland is fighting in Ukraine.
As a Pole I see no reason to attack Belorus. Our standard of living is much higher. We have a lot of Belorusians living in Poland now. Nice people. If only we could help them somehow to get rid of Lukashenka - we would.

A lot of things as far as treaties in the 90's were stupid and shortsighted, they irrationally believed Russia would just stop acting like Russia had for 500 years and China would behave if we just gave them all our manufacturing. If there was no Budapest Accord (thanks Clinton) this war or the 2014 war would have never happened.

there is a lot of commotion in Polish forces at the moment
CWCR (Central Military Recruitment Center) has started sending letters to report for a basic training either in a professional unit or with WOT (Territorial Defence Forces). Even to people who should not be getting them, like parents of children below 9 years of age or the sole providers in the household

Many express concern over the possibility that Russia will attack a NATO country. How will one explain that when Pootin cannot overcome Ukraine that there will be chances for him to beat Nato? Russia's population is approx. 150,000,000 people, Nato numbers 900,000,000 people with a strong, state-of-the-art defense, nuclear weapons and a weapons production not seen larger since WW2. The only option for Russia is the use of A weapon, which will mean immediate retaliation with the same weapon. It means mutual annihilation. Well, not in Russia's interest either, unless Pootin, at the time of his personal troubles, wants to destroy the whole world.
NATO should avoid war at all costs, but in turn all countries should be able to defend themselves and prepare, as it is the individual government responsibility to protect there country and people.
Ukraine requests 2 things only which are ,weapons and money, no more no less. Ukraine wants the ability to defend and survive this war till the end.
Any previous agreements between countries become invalid if one of them seems to be aggressive.
Only one man can stop this war and only one country right now has to keep defending.

Russian claims of friendly fire are frequently lies to deny perceptions of Ukraine getting some successes against them. Russia would rather appear incompetent than weak.

I sincerely doubt Russia is sharing the location of its troops nowadays, so a treaty like that would be a one-sided affair.
Tusk didn't say there'd be war. He said that war was a possibility, if Ukraine lost. It was hypothetical, and intended as a wake-up call for the rest of Europe to increase its defence spending. Poland is at 4% of GDP, the rest of Europe around 2% or slightly below that.
Poland has been wise and has learned from its history. So does France, it seems. Unfortunately European countries decided that to do nothing was the best course of action in 2014. Putler took notes, and is a decade ahead with his preparations. We must invest NOW or liberty and peace will be a thing of the past. Weakness invites aggression.
