India’s kowtow aircraft carrier did not even carry aircraft. Maybe India should build more and put it as a museum for tourism.
Who knows, maybe they have stealth aircraft? Optical stealth maybe?

This is probably one of the most practical, no-nonsense video on flight deck operations on a carrier. The schematic for the flight deck arrangements at different phases, especially comparing between Fujian and Ford is awesome.
Well done.
Thanks!
That's why it is called a shakedown cruise , to work out the bugs , it took over two years for the Ford to complete them.
That's a nice looking boat 👏👊
Thank Daniel Duggan
However in this case, the chinese are trying to figure out if it's a ship...
Can’t believe the first aircraft launched from Fujian carrier is a DJI camera drone😂
Hahahaha that's right
Glimpse of the future perhaps. Unmanned aircraft would be the majority of the load out in 10-20 years.
Yeahh it call trials for a reason dude.US carrier first launched is trolly bro..
it will never launch a jet plane...systems are to weak..
@@williamblomster2387 care to wager actual money ( I will take crypto or gold if you prefer that route) on it? I bet that Fujian will launch at least 1 aircraft before the ship is scrapped. Never is a very long time.
The idea that this carrier is an evolution of the Shandong is interesting and makes sense. It gives them a working modern carrier with electric catapults in a shorter time period, and allows them to train the crew and pilots. And it gives them time to design a better carrier without the compromises you mentioned.
I look forward to seeing a group sail of the Liaoning, the Shandong, and the Fujian.
Those are remarkably good video clips and photographs. This ship is a major addition to the PLAN fleet, and I imagine the PLAN are rather proud of her!
The public broadcasting the high definition video of the new aircraft carrier shows the confident of Chinese Army also the strategy change on top of it. We expect to see more of these in the coming time.
Yea, nice CGI
What a MAGNIFICENT Aircraft Carrier! Beautiful & Deadly!
China needs to throw her weight around. This carrier isn’t designed for use against Taiwan or Japan, but to enforce its interests in Africa. In a shooting war with the US this carrier will need to be under a shore-based air umbrella and anti-aircraft missiles. Because it will be outnumbered 5-1 by larger carriers with decades of combat experience.
Looks like a Russian carrier ,no smoke. Another pos made to look like ours. Thanks Clinton for selling us out.

Your military is a fraud
There are several thing about the layout of the Fujian that I think may be a problem in operations. Some of the weapons elevators are in locations that may conflict with aircraft parking making them useless. Weapons movement in the ship should be as direct as possible from the assembly area near the magazines to the flight deck. Working them from one elevator to another below deck around parked aircraft or through passageways just delays delivery. Having them reach the flight deck near the aircraft is not a help when the aircraft could have been parked anywhere on the flight deck. The weapons jettison ramps on the elevators would not help the hanger deck as the elevators would be up most of the time. I never saw a US carrier take armed aircraft to the hanger deck. Bombs and rockets would be disarmed and removed and taken to the flight deck storage area. The space outboard of the island on American carriers was used as a staging area for weapons on carts for the flight deck crew to draw from. Unless your operation a lot of Helicopters 2 places is enough and they would not need to be marked. Some of these problems come from inexperience in operation of a ship of this type. Operational knowledge must be applied at design. There are probably other thing is the design that we can not see that will be problems because of inexperience in operation. This is the way you learn but it gets costly when it's put it in metal because you didn't know. I see the Chinese have adopted the personal color code for flight deck operations from the US.
Great update, thank you
Thanks man!

the foward elevator position was originally designed for a steam catapult which is shorter than the current electromagnetic catapult, when they made the decision to switch to the electro magnetic catapult they decided not to re-design the whole front starboard side of the vessle
Ship parts already in construction, so minimising changes required.
There's ~half year pause to refit, modification be done.
There must ne a lot of internal structure changes between 2 different catapult
@@james_l4337i'ld imagine emals to b less bulky internally.
@@james_l4337it would have been more than half a year of delay if they make more design changes. Not just due to parts already been manufactured. The hull length would have to change to accommodate the longer catapult while maintaining relative position with elevator. that impacts the weight balance, hull strength, water flow around the hull, and possibly power requirements. All of that would have to be recalculated and verified.
@orzdxy Source ? Or is this just a personal theory ?
@@xsu-is7vqchanging the entire front nose structure is a 1/4 ship. Building another 1/4 mean ship was a lose lose design from get start.
So everyone is correct as minimal chnage as is possible
Limiting only to replacing steam catapult to EMALS
Although lot more expense then do it right 1st time
It release lot more room internal for other use.
Also a carrier PLAN had to live with for 40 or more years. It's 20 million to fill up its tank!
It will have been better to cater for EMALS in 1st place, as that is the future that's how overtaking can happen.
Steam catapult has inherently all points not equal to EMALS, same with launching planes with earlier catapult (not steam) that also isn't a viable option for plane that's now 10 to 40+ tons

in Moderrn Warships event i have Type 044 i still like using Fujian
With these experiences and the ones they will get building the 004, China will be ready with the 005 to have a typeship for mass production.
Exactly!!!...They learn from everything..No experience is wasted...😀👍
excited for the fourth carrier
It is quite interesting that the hull design is still based largely on the Shandong. Type 004 could be the first time the designers move away from Shandong base hull for a clean sheet design that will allow a redesign of the entire hull structure that is more suitable for a supercarrier and even for nuclear propulsion.
Yes, I think it is high time the Chinese move away from Russian design. Since they can design huge ship there is no reason why they will struggle to design newer aircraft carrier. Maybe the new design and testing took longer than desired hence this Fujian is a fusion of both Russians and Chinese design.
Every single class carrier China builds like the Fujian is just a proof concept and likey used for training in the future, when China builds its first multi hull order.
Exactly. China only builds one of each class as a development platform. Fujian is a Type 003. There are strong rumors that the Type 004 will have 4 EMALS cats, and quite possibly nuclear propulsion. I personally expect that will also be a development platform, as the Chinese are smart enough to avoid a Ford-type disaster. I expect the Type 005 will become the first Chinese Fleet Carrier. And they will build the heck out of them when that time comes.
@@georgemorris9616well, the only new technology for a nuclear powered 004 would be just the propulsion system. If that is tested on a training ship, then nothing would be new. I predict the next design would be the standard model, followed by several hulls in rapid succession with only minor changes between them.
@@xsu-is7vq My guess is that this is indeed that path. The Chines are known to be working on a nuclear power plant of a size capable of meeting the needs of a carrier and I assume that their carrier tech is likely on par with US other than the nuclear plant.

This is some serious research. Great work!

Who was chosen to be captain?
With each carrier, China learns more and more. Every subsequent carrier enjoys major improvements. The Fujian is not the ultimate carrier; it doesn't need to match the Gerald R. Ford.
The Type 004 will rock!
Still, the Fujian is a beautiful and most impressive ship.
You have a wisdom that is not common among UA-cam commentors. The common refrain is that "it isn't as good as ours" and the realty is that it doesn't have to be. It only has to be good enough to do what China wants to do. What China really wants to do is re-unite Taiwan, and since the Taiwanese don't actually have an aircraft carrier, it would seem that the Chinese carrier will be better than no carrier.
NICE LOOKING SHIP 🥰
Soon as they show video of this fishing boat actually launching aircraft from its deck ill acknowledge it. Atm its just a toy.
Huge Respect to the Chinese and China
The iterative approach makes a lot of sense. You don't do three different carrier generations in 17 years without borrowing extensively from the prior version. It will be interesting to see the island placement on the Type 004.
This is much better aircraft carrier design than the other two Chinese aircraft carriers.
It is also has a high maintenance cost 💲 later..
I do not at all understand having weapons elevators adjacent to the stern. Perhaps there is a huge doctrinal difference between the US and China's carrier aviation; but physically it makes sense to locate the arming/disarming stations more-or-less amidship because that is where the planes will start their launches and also where they're going to end up after being recovered.
Despite giving the situation some thought, I really can't come up with any viable explanation why there'd be any flush-mounted hatches of any sort at those locations.
The Indians say the Fujian can't swin Butterfly style. With each rise of the bow creating extra lift their 1980s vintage Mig-29 roll off the ski jump well timed can be launched without the need for catapult.
Hahahahaha
Limited range with diesel propulsion, unlike US nuclear carriers.
Can you talk about China SAM system they use on land and on ship?
Highly informative video!
Stunning beauty! Go PLAN!
Look good.
Why are there no pictures of the Fujian's funnels? Is this CGI?
about the island, the most probably reason to NOT move the island further is the funnel and air inlet.
we can see lots of funnel design in the history of aircraft carrier. some IJN carriers has a huge sliding island and a upside down L shaped funnel. i mention this here is to say the funnel is actually decide what island is on aircraft carrier.
china use type 426 steam turbine system on war ship. honestly this is world most advanced conventional powered steam purposion system nowadays although hardly war ship use boilers and steam turbines now.
a large carrier mostly start design more than 15 years ago before first flight test. that means it shows technology of 15 years ago
two major changes did in building progress which actually delays the time by more than 2 years and bring in more uncertainty, the electric catapult and addition steam generators to power the catapult, navy take the risk and made the chance, and actually turns out favorable
by taking the risk of using electric catapult, china is the second in the world to have the super carrier, the downside is you can not change the hull of the ship that much in the process of building. that makes some uncomfortable feature you can see in this video.
it can always bea choice to have a old but perfect ship or a new but not perfect ship. before WW I, German navy takes the old ship, but royal navy get the dreadnought, i am Chinese so i trust the choice taken by navy, or i have to trust in it, at war the choice may decide at the end and future of the world, you can only trust in victory of your navy and your nation.
004 may not count that much because final Taiwan trait crisis may be very soon. if you win the war, even you are actually building shit, the shit it self will be golden shit that changes the world, maybe thats why navy choose to take the risk, navy want an quick solution, bring in the victory, after the war, what ever win or lose no one will care how many aircraft carrier you have got, a defeated nation with 100 carriers can never match a winner nation with a 1000 ton frigate
It's true. You are right I think.

I have to admit, the Fujian is an elegant looking carrier.
Given that China builds far more ships than any other country (by many measures, more than the rest of the world combined), I imagine the Fujian was built for far less than the $13 billion cost of the USS Ford. If one subtracts the extra cost for the Ford's nuclear power (?? perhaps $3 or $4 billion??), I wonder how much less costly it is for China to build carriers.
The Fujian ship cost about $7 billion to build
When will China design their own stuff?

Shows some drawbacks to the iterative style of the PLAN design process. A lot is said about the inefficiencies of the US procurement style, but it does have its own benefits to its bespoke designs. Any jump as big as one to a CATOBAR carrier would have tried to maximise the potential of the new ship, with the capabilities and costs that come with it, unlike the way the Fujian has been designed.
The existing configuration he said has to do with continuing familiar operations with the existing carriers China already has. Which frighteningly might also mean China doesn't want to waste time with all new processes yet because this carrier might be needed soon because war is near. What you mentioned about maximizing the potential of a new carrier config might be reserved for the next upcoming nuclear carriers.
There are so many problems with this boat, it may not ever be combat ready.
it's not meant to be
For sure but to gauge the Chinese navy by boats that don’t work is ridiculous.
@@davidmyhra4931 combat ready and working are two different things. This one is perceived to be a testbed for all the stuff the navy uses first time and later on a training vehicle. There is a reason this will be a one-off ship, while the next class of carriers will be a series. Those will be the combat ships
Quite a beut. Cant wait for when the Type 004, PANG, CVX, Vikrant, Russian carrier (hopefully), and the Turkish and Brazilian aircraft carrier projects get some life.
I can almost guarantee US aircraft were observing the trails AND there was a submarine or two grabbing acoustic signitures of the ship. ROFL
It should be kown that rescue helicopters should already be in the air during aircraft launches and recoveries.
Fujian is a modification and upgrade of the Shangdong, not a clean sheet design. To be fair, I still believe the Fujian is a technical demonstrator and training tool to develop air operations protocols and carrier doctrine (and possibly changes to carrier fighter designs). While it can be pressed into combat operations, I do not believe it is its primary purpose. As such, I believe it will be a single-ship class becasue the next class will incoprorate lessons learned from the Fujian. China's first carrier designed for actual combat service will be a multi-ship class.
I am quite sure that no US aircraft carrier leaves port without being observed by China and Russia. Everyone watches everyone. I don't see why that is particularly amusing.

I bet front landing gear and launch bar is IDENTICAL to US Navy and French Navy CATOBAR design, on what ever aircraft she launches. I bet a Super Hornet can land and launch from Fujian, I bet that PLAN NATOPS is nearly identical to US Navy NATOPS. I bet that arresting gear is identical to Nimits and Ford class , as to gross weight and speed. IOLS looks same as on Nimitz, Ford, and French carriers. Meatball and ACLS are probably same. Which means that LSO postion and procedures is same. Case I, Case II, Case III.
The Chinese carriers that are using electromagnetic launch are basing their development on a thesis paper of a university student. Again with no real experience.

You should come back in two years time when its out in full operation.
This is a 21'st Century Forrestal class. But Forrestal class , in 1960's, 1970's, 1980's were extremely powerfull and capable ships. Fujian has radars and EM catapult, technologies that were not available to Forrestal carriers. Forrestal could carry between 65 and 85 aircraft airwing. Fujian can proabably carry between 70 and 80 aircraft. Thats a lot. Chinese may have copied a lot from US Navy, down to the colored vests for deck crew, and E-2 type AWACS. But thats a great source to copy from. With 055 and Type 054 destoryers, and Type 093/095 submarines, Chinese have a modern US Navy style carrier battle group. Thats big deal. Dont dissmis it. What I dont understand is what aircraft are they operating from it? J-15 is SU-33 clone and cannot be launched by catapult.
