I wonder if sober Zimmer can pronounce my name...
Ólafur Arnalds Was wondering when you'd comment. Hans wants to apologize, hold him to it! =)
I love you OLIVER FROM SPITFIRE AUDIO.
really though, my last name is 2 syllables and sound exactly how they are spelled and people still mispronounce it. Also, I own more of your products from SFA than Zimmer's.
SO I REMEMBER YOU.
That made me LOL.
Ólafur Arnalds haha
ahahahaha anyway he pronounces it, you made it lol
"I'm just happy if it's not shit" - Hans Zimmer.
Whats the time stamp for that lol?

"Ooh, not sh*t? Sounds like a grownup composer!" - HZ
This is exactly like any saturday night in my house...
...except for my composing skills, my outboard, my living room and my friends.
Welcome to my world.
Guai a te Christian AIRTE, guai a te!
ChristianIce I have friends. They are in my phone, on my screen.
Well... at least you got wine and cheese :P
ChristianIce 😂😂👍🏻
This looks a lot like Da Vinci's last supper (after Jesus got into modular synths).
haha you deserve way more likes ;)
My thoughts exactly =))))
I thought the same :D
Sweet baby Jesus this comment should be drowning in likes.
Well Hans has 80 more disciples at his Remote Control
I want someone to look at me the way Hans looks at Ramin
He's like a proud father.
Hans is proud of Ramin
So is everyone in Germany. ;)
@@elliotalderson2396 and iran, hes iranian too
You are right. Hans eyes was dead focus on Ramin the whole time. It almost felt like he was a proud father and was real giddy too.
@@maniravandi5983 not really. born and raised in germany.
@@maniravandi5983 Anyone with a foreign background is immediately full German if they are successful in Germany. If they are not, they are all immigrants even if they are half German. Footballer Mezut Ozil put it great when he said 'When I score, I am German; but when I miss, I am an immigrant.'. Lmao.
Hans clearly admires Ramin's music over all the others lol
hmm maybe theres a special bond between those two, because they are both german
Ramin worked for Hans in his studio before branching out on his own. They've spent a lot of time together over the years.
Tim Erickson that explains why Ramin is so good lol. He learned from the best
He was hans' student that's why I think
I was getting that feeling.
I love the chemistry between Hans and Ramin - you can feel it just by the way Hans looks at him before anyone else while talking - it seems they are kind of big and young brothers; It's obvious there's a really great connection, especially respect and admiration.
No doubt they’re the two best composers there, if not in the world
Whoever thinks Hans Zimmer "doesn't do his own work" or "is only successful because of his resources" is undeniably mistaken. Im seeing a guy who cares about his friends and loves to bring people alongside sharing his incredible wealth of knowledge.
Old Camper Studios indeed. The guy works very hard and has a ton of creativity.
@@ashhartling9713 Having no personal life is often part of being in the entertainment industry, unfortunately. I can accept this as long as my superiors play by the same rules, and I suppose Hans does.
@@Coastfog He definitely looks like he does sometimes haha
Hans always use words like "our idea "our work" "what we did" and everyone is like "your idea" "what you did" so tells a lot that Hans is a humble genius who works together but is definitely the main genius behind his work.
Yep I agree. I think it looks that way (as though he's not doing the work) because Hans makes a point of crediting and involving each of the instrumentalists in the recording. Hans is fascinated by how an instrument works differently depending on the player controlling it, and exaggerating that to his advandage for the finished music. It's a new process in film composing, totally collaborative. More like a band setup. It's a wonderful way to work.
The amount of talent and experience in this room is daunting. True legends.
Alexandre Desplat ???
Ramin Djawadi is so shy:)
He is ghosttalking, since he is a ghostwriter clone.
but so sweet.
He is always so delightful. :)
And his music is the best there. In my opinion
@@luisholley5858 other than Han of course
That table is clearly square.
It's actually rectangular
It's a camera rendering problem

drunk zimmer doesn't care about you.
Sober zimmer doesn't either :)
ChristianIce savage response
That's what happens :D
A conversation with seven men that have totally and utterly without a doubt 100% surrendered to the task of craftsmanship
Wow, it's the first time I've heard Hans talk about The Prince of Egypt.
It's like everyone forgot about that masterpiece. To me, it is one of Hans' best pieces of music.
I agree. He also rarely talk about Thin Red Line which i think is an absolute masterpiece.
drunkirk
Hahaha....I reckon if i'd been involved in Dunkirk in any shape or form i'd be permanently drunk.
Great film. Great story. Great soundtrack.
Lmfffffao
lollll
It is like Hans arranged whole thing just for Ramin. He's so into Ramin.
who wouldn't
Hans can't stick a theme on a character like Ramin.
Best 2am to 4 am ever
literally what I'm doing right now haha
MartinBergnerGuitar Same
I love the way hans commands the room with such humble manner.
He’s humble because he has nothing to prove, and mentees surround him.
man... beeing there, sitting in this table as a sucssusful composer.... that the dream...
some day ill get there!
It's so funny to see all of them trying to read Ramin's work, his inspirations, creative process, and struggles and he's just there not saying much, just agreeing with whatever they come up with. lol
Hans zimmer and Ramin make this table perfect
Glad Ramin is there.
"You'll never make me another cup of coffee" That pretty much sums it up. Plus the geeky stuff. Priceless. Kudos Spitfire Audio!
I liked this discussion the most when they weren't forced to talk about samples. They were having an amazing back and forth about writing for film, temp tracks, and questioning yourself, then had to stop and be like "Oh wait, we have to be talking about samples."
1:15:44 Ramin's story - best part, I watched it like 10 times!
Thanks!
Kenji Producer what scene was he talking about ?
@@alenda5766 I have not watched the movie, but I think they say the first sword fight in Pirates perhaps
@@alenda5766 He says that 54 seconds after you click OP's timestamp dude. 54 SECONDS...

Ben Wallfisch quickly becomes one of my favorite composers. I first read his name in the credits for Blade Runner 2049 and then I've seen Dunkirk again and noticed him as additional composer in that and after that in Batman v Superman. At this point I went to his imdb and he's done IT, Hidden Figures, A Cure for Wellness and world on Harry Potter, V for Vendetta and 12 years a slave as composer, orchestrator or conductor. Keep it up, dude. A real Zimmer junior…
I wish Ramin Djawadi talked more here. I'd be interested to hear some of his takes on the topics.
You and more both, friend.
He’s a bit shy, I think.
I have a friend like him, I think he's just the type to not take the spotlight when there's other people there to take it (in this case, Hans, Henry and Benjamin) but if you were to speak to him alone, he'd certainly be more talkative.
This is how interviews SHOULD be conducted, please do more"
Yes
This wasn't an interview, it was a roundtable lol
3 in the morning slicing samples for a library while listening to these chaps, what a time
I love the fact the Hans is literally only looking at Ramin.
Ramin Djawadi and Hans Zimmer
My favourites😊
I bet the man has so many more great stories! Some people would choose film stars or football players to hang out with if they had the chance, but I'd take a glass of wine in the Zimmer studio with this bunch of visionaries any day. That was fantastic, thanks Spitfire.
I 2nd this
I love how the whole room gets silent when Hans tells a story. The best! Thanks for this, Spitfire. 🙏
Hans zimmers voice is so mesmorizing. It's wonderful.
Second to Naoya Uchida, of course. If God ever spoke, He would project his voice like him.
I would love to watch more roundtables like these! Its been awhile since Hollywood Reporter did a composer roundtable, so this is amazing! Would even be cool if there were episodes with small roundtables between composers and directors, or composers and orchestral players/musical collaborators.
"you will never make me another coffee"
Hans Zimmer to young Ramin
What a table. Full of musical knowledge.
So amazing to hear the war stories from composers in the trenches. I have the biggest smile on my face. Most tend to ignore the fact that this is a life choice as a career, but unlike most careers, incredible passion is attached and shared amongst peers. Thanks to all for your music, passion and emotion. The world is a better place because of all of you.
Thanks also to Spitfire for this round table and all of their products and digitized passion.
Ramin is my second favourite from the table. You already know who my favorite is.
Batmaan
Osama Bin Lasen
Hanz Zimmer is my second favorite. You already know who my first favorite is.
Spitfire Audio and the amazing libraries they produce has changed my perspective on being a composer and how I approach producing music. Thank you Spitfire Team!
The subtle motion capture on their faces is gorgeous, great cinematography!
Hans Zimmer - The lion king, Inception, Dunkirk. Like we needed that.

Glad to be here and thx for posting this round table gathering.
O..M..G.. this is the way to round off the weekend. Thank you Spitfire.
sonicindustries not really. Its Zimmer chatting with his ghost writers who have more talent than he!
Not all of them have talent. Some have written horrible music that should have disqualified them from having such careers. It doesn't matter if you're a good composer. You just need to be friends wih Zimmer.
Adervae thus the reason I miss composers such as Jerry Goldsmith. Horner, even. But Goldsmith was and still is my idol.
Yep
@@drewcollier1138 Yeah luck is everything. You can't get in to the studio and work with guy like Hans Zimmer if you don't have connections.
SO many gems in this conversation. I can rewatch this over and over
Thanks a ton Spitfire for coming up with roundtable sessions. Hope there will be more roundtable sessions in the coming days :)
We need more of these! Excellent discussion
Please more Roundtables! This was amazing.
Its 4am and couldn't stop watching this! I love seeing things from the composer perspective.
This the best brass tacks discussion of composing ever. Need more of these with composers and their teams.
Am I the only one who needs to re watch this every so often, so gooood thank you Spitfire 🙏
Jesus, I'll bet that is a 10 million dollar studio and I'm not even joking ONE BIT
Wow! This is so insightful. Thank you Spitfire!
Wow, amazing round. Genius of Music. Every single person at this table.
Wonderful video! I enjoyed it a lot! To Spitfire Studios and all the musicians/composers that were present, Thank You so much for this video.
You guys are great - thanks for sharing this with us Christian and Paul. What a special insight into how these composers put their music together.
I watched a great video once describing how the piano coming into the mostly very medieval sounding score of Game of Thrones is symbolic of Cersei's new world with the piano being a much younger instrument than the cello, the guitar etc.
Also the instrumentation of the show is spectacular, with all these acoustic instruments for the more "realistic" stuff and then ambient electronics for the "supernatural".
zimmer is gone...did they start filming after they opened the tenth bottle
There is so much knowledge in this talk, thank you Spitfire.
~2hrs of gold.
Great stuff, Spitfire, thank you for this!
Ramin is just me, when you are too shy in a group meeting , you just pretend youre drinking
The shy ones are usually the special ones...
I can listen to Hans Zimmer talk for Days
Wow striking cinematography ...and the formation of the composers is like the last supper !
WOW! This round table discussion with Hans Zimmer is an absolute gem! As a fellow composer, I'm in awe of his talent and the insights he shares. It's incredible to hear from such a legendary figure in the industry. Thank you for uploading this video and giving us the opportunity to learn from the best. Hans Zimmer continues to inspire and elevate the art of film scoring. Truly a masterclass!
omgggggg thank you spitfire for putting this together
Thank you for an enjoyable roundtable discussion! :D
Fantastic insight into the evolution of Orchestra samples, their use in real orchestration and the kind of thinking which sets these Composers apart.
Completely fascinating!
Ramin is my favorite!
Absolutely brilliant video. A meeting of the Minds. Magical, truly magical.
I can listen to Hans talk about music for DAY'S
antwan hawkins you mean talk about music others have written and he's been given credit for? He uses ghost writers. Hes "fake news" .
@@steveashawasegai1041 Yrs you can clearly see the rest of the table not rate him. He worked on Gladiator in a little room opposite the edit room, sometimes he co works as he produces so much work and loves to work with everyone. What he isn't is a Ghost Writer, salty lol
@@steveashawasegai1041 Hating on a successful person says more about you than them lol. Especially if it's false.

damn, how emotional..... samples can be a Memorial to the performer and their rare instrument..... !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thats a gigantic thing !!!!!!! to be cherished for ages to come......
nice socks Hans !
That room is so artistically arranged.
Ramin is definitely getting the continuous attention from Hans and Ben drinks more wine to process that LOL
Amazing. Thank you for all the insight!
That was probably the most rivetting chat I have ever watched on UA-cam. I am not a Composer or even a Musician, I am a music geek that has just got a synth in my middle age and I adored being a fly on the wall there, please do it again. 🎶💯😊
Yeah buddy!!!! More of these please!
This is the greatest video I have ever watched.
They all look happy after one hour of discussion... with wine... absolutely awesome!

I did an online course with Hans on the MASTERCLASS series way back in 2017,
this is such a buzz to hear this roundtable discussion over a good glass of Red, with the advantages of hindsight,
loving it as I raise a glass,

Brilliant!
I really love spitfire not because they make the most amazing sounding libraries but because they will give you the control to shape the tone anyway you want, they give you the choice of individuality which I think is amazing
Amazing. Thank you
