- There are multiple types of MP5 slings, but which one is right for you? Binary triggers in all of these, so check them out.
TPM Outfitters MP5SD factory sbr with 12” suppressor
AP5 sbr with A2 stock and Surefire 328
AP5 sbr with A3F stock and SilencerCo Octane 9
DJ Getz MP5K sbr with SilencerCo Omega 9K
AP5-M sbr with B&T folding stock
AP5-M AOW with vertical grip
This is my favorite channel. I've been watching it for like two days, this is a underrated channel fr
You’re so right! Idk how I haven’t seen this guy’s channel before.
I love the shoulder sling
At 3 minutes, exactly how I would set up a full size. Guess I'm just old school... Thank you for a much needed video.
Thank you! That AP5 with A2 stock and Surefire 328 is one of my most recent MP5s. Love the classic aspect, feel and size. The modern Shield SMS2 red dot and Magpul MS1 sling really enhance its performance.
Dammit man; I just found your channel and you’ve single-handedly made me have to order like three binary triggers 😭 good stuff man, subbed
👊🦾
The pistol I like to run the 2 point sling. I have an angled grip on it. I’ve been frustrated trying to find a collapsible brace for it, purchased one for a HKPDW by mistake, no returns. I don’t like the folding brace. I’m inspired seeing you run yours with no brace at all. 😎
@@JOHNNYUPLOADZ sbr is the way! I hated the Shockwave Blade braces, and the way they felt. I broke in my PTR 51P 8.5” 308 with 200 rounds at about halfway through, I was just firing from my hip because my shoulder hurt so bad. I had a couple SBA3 braces too and they definitely aren’t as economic as a stock. Stocks just look and feel better and how a gun should be. Braces are good for disabled people, if they even use them, and not needing to submit paperwork to take your SBR across state lines, but that’s easy too.
Excellent content 👏🏽
Mp5sd such a sexy 80s gun
My favorite for sure ua-cam.com/video/o3TLWIJjnTk/v-deo.htmlsi=j-8jUDH6l9-n1hcy
As much as I want to hate the original MP5 3 point sling I love it on mine.
Very interesting, I have never really thought much about the slings. I don't have a lot of these style guns, but on the few I do have, I have always just used a single point sling to rear of the upper receiver (AR Style). I mostly just use slings to transport the gun to & from the stand for hunting. I could see these types of slings being useful on my Ruger PC Charger, that is a fun gun, might have to consider one of those triggers.😁
That’s right on! I’m waiting on a Form 1 for a binary Charger 22LR sbr 👊
Grail loadout ✅
Excellent video!!
Thanks dude! I know you have a SP5 in your collection :D
@@RangeToyz Well I went ahead and got me a FA binary trigger, fixed stock, and sent off my sbr papers to the feds. Didn't get a suppressor yet. I decided not to get the AP5M (yet) lol. will be dropping vids on it soon maybe Sunday. Thanks for the inspiration!
@@DREAM_GUNS nice! I hope your Form 1 goes quick. I’m waiting for one as well. Can’t wait to see your video. I’m making one right now that will increase your rate of fire! Still have to finish it and edit it then wait for it to get monetized before I go public with it. Reach out to me on Instagram and I’ll fill you in.
@@RangeToyz Will do
I found a trick to getting the cadence right on the full size MP5. Add a buffer around the recoil spring. Us hydraulic hose from McMaster Carr. Item number 5645K18. This has an ID of .5 and OD of .75. Cut it to 2.84 inches long and slip it over the recoil spring assembly. This will shorten the bolt stroke and make the gun run faster. You will loose a little bit of the smoothness though. By having the bolt cycle faster, you don’t outrun the binary trigger and the cadence is smoother. This is why the K version runs the binary trigger better.
Heck yeah! Talked with Brent Cook on instagram and he told me about that. Thanks for the item number and measurements! I need to order a couple feet of that now. Are the measurements different for a MP5, MP5K, 308, 7.62x39 and 5.56 versions? I have all of them :D
Do you know if product 5236K472 would be as good or better? I need to make a video of this now :D
@@RangeToyzI’m also eagerly awaiting the answers to these questions. I’m sure lots of people would be interested in a video about this because the full size has always been hard to run quickly
@@RangeToyz that might work even better. It’s soft at 50A hardness. I might have to try that. The one I specified has fabric reinforcement so I thought it might last longer.
@@mjohnson43136 cool! @brents.blasters says he’s gone 300 rounds with it so far and it’s holding up.
Working on building my k out right now just ordered a sbt brace for it, once I get that I'll figure out what sling setup I want as much as I like the bungie sling it came with for the rear plate attachment method I think a two point or a single point fixed sling might be a better option instead of a bungie with a brace or stock but I'll see how I like it first. I think you just convinced me to get a Franklin binary trigger for it too now I was going to wait on that bit it looks like it just runs so good. Curious if you have a suggestion for what lower I should get for mine to throw the trigger
, thinking about keeping the stock lower with the stock trigger and getting a dedicated lower just for a binary setup. It's the "shelf" style not a push pin in the front. Good quick video and too the point thanks for sharing this?
@@DIYDad1 thanks for checking my video out and hope I don’t get you spending too much money lol I’ve bought the clipped and pinned shelf style SEF finger groove lowers mostly. The 0,1,30 or 0,1,2 would also work. I get the HK Parts selectors for those. I really like the Navy Pictogram ambi 3 position trigger housings the best. The positions line up nicely and there’s other specific ambi selectors you can purchase for them as well from a place I can’t remember right now, but it might be listed in this video or definitely in my AP5-M sbr backpack gun video. HK Parts sells the binary trigger with ejector lever, ejector lever spring and ejector lever axle with the housings complete, but you’ll spend a lot more that way instead buying the parts separately, especially if you wait for a discount code on Optics Planet for the trigger. I like the look of all of those trigger housings over the Magpul ones. You can even make the storage compartments work in the ambi housings with a bit of careful Dremel on the inside for the spring to catch the caps. Check out my two videos on how to speed up your HK binary trigger as well :)
@@RangeToyz Thanks for the in depth reply! Lots of info I'm still learning about this platform yet as I'm pretty new to it, bit of an HK fan boy but just got my first SP5k, I'll check out your other vids as well, that's kind of what I'm doing with this a sort of "backpack" gun. Thanks for the info keep up the quality content!
@@DIYDad1 the ambi selectors for the pictograph trigger housings are actually from Custom Smith Mfg And I think another manufacturer is out there as well. they’re different from the SEF style as the markings point forward instead of reward. I have one on my DJ Getz MP5K in this video ua-cam.com/video/eC_wrDm182A/v-deo.htmlsi=Cw1iEQm6JOm_fWnw
Great video ! I’m going to order a binary trigger now 😅
Thanks! Order one and I’m gonna try and put together a new video on how to increase the cyclic rate this weekend :)
@@RangeToyz awesome man. Can’t wait
Goals!!!!
Probably took a decade for me to get all of these plus a couple more that aren’t on the video. Feels good to have the MP5 collection complete and to not have to swap accessories.
How easy are 100 yard shots with the stockless mp5k using just sling tension?
@@donh1572 I haven’t tried, but I’ll see if I can get back to you on that soon if not tomorrow
@@RangeToyz thanks!
@ so I just got done! At 100 yards I was aiming at my 16 inch round target using my AP5-M (MP5K) with vertical front grip because it is a registered AOW and the sling around my neck using the push pull method. The castle drum sight was on its narrowest setting, which is still a little bit wide, and I had to walk in my shots to find my point of impact. With the first 10 rounds, I got four out of 10 on target. The second 10 rounds I lost track but either got six or seven out of 10. It is a pretty steady way to shoot, but you have to do your part. A freshly painted target would help even more. I’m impressed with the gun accuracy. I was using American Sniper 124 grain ammo.
@@RangeToyz very cool! The for the feedback. Any video footage by any chance? Especially compared to no sling or stock
@@donh1572 I didn’t get any video. I think it all depends on how steady the person is really considering the guns accuracy.
Awesome vid, man.
I just picked up an SP5 but haven't SBR'd it yet. What sling/setup would you recommend in the meantime, that would also carryover to running it with an A3 stock later? The 2 point adjustable?
Yeah buddy, you went top shelf with that SP5! Definitely go with an adjustable two point sling. There’s lots of options out there. I learned about them from a friend who had a Blue Force Gear Two point adjustable sling, but I wasn’t really into the tail, so I got the Magpul MS1 with the slider.
@@RangeToyzRight. Prices finally came back down so I didn't really even have a choice.
Which clip attachment do you have in the back on the MS1 in the vid? I might pick up that exact setup. Looks good.
@@Broski__ it’s a HK holding clip with spring steel hook. Long name for the product but I think it’s how you look it up and what it’s called. I forget if I got it from HK Parts or RTG Parts, but it fit the Magpul strap material perfectly.
@@RangeToyzYup, found it at RTG. Got the parts coming already. Thanks for the tips. 👍
That SD sounded quieter than the full size with a standard full size suppressor. What say you? Great video.
Thanks! This MP5SD definitely rivals a MP5 with Wolfman and many different subsonic loads. It has lower back pressure compared to one and is shorter and lightweight. One of my first videos compares them, plus an Octane 9. It’s recorded with my IPhone SE third gen, while this is with my new DJI Mic 2. This sound quality is definitely better, without sound throttling. I was using the same American Sniper 124 grain supersonic ammo for everything in this video. I’m running really low on subsonic ammo right now. That would be a good video to do again now that I have new video equipment.
@@RangeToyz I would love to see it with the new mic. I'm running an SP5 with a Rugged obsidian 9. 140 grain S&B was going transonic and starting to crack. 147 grain stuff is a bit better, but sometimes it also starts to get loud. Going to try some heavy 150+ stuff soon and see how it is.
@@trunkmonkey56 right on! I’ve got some 165 grain Hush I can use. It’s probably quieter than most 147 grain ammo. I’ll try to get a video out, but it might be awhile. I recently bought 1000 rounds of Longhorn 124 grain “subsonic” ammo. Only subsonic out of my 4.5” barrel FN 509 Tactical, but not my 5.5” 3 lug MP5K barrel.
@@RangeToyz good to hear your feedback on grain weight. This is my first pcc, and first longer than 4.5" 9mm barrel. Looks like heavier is better for quiet pew.
Does the mp5m work good with hollow points or only FMJ I see some say it’s jams with hollows
It depends on the shape of the hollow point. Dream Gunz just made a video with his SP5 and new binary trigger and was using hollow points. I’m not sure what brand or style they were. I’ve used Freedom Munitions 135 grain HP. They have a good round nose before a small star shape hollow point, but are non-expanding and are designed for accuracy, not defense situations.
@@RangeToyz okay so this ap5m is pretty much a range toy lol. Or is it something you’d trust with your life with just regular fmj
@@fredo7925 You should try a large sample of hollow points for function, like in any gun before you carry it. I haven’t done that for it. (I have with my concealed carry pistol). 9mm fmj is still a NATO round. Stick with HK mags for reliability in that department as well.
