Exactly. I knew a pro model was going to come out, so I still haven't even considered getting a PS5. And when the pro does come out, I still won't even consider it for at least a year after the fact, because by they all the issues with the hardware will probably be ironed out.

I have a ps5. I can safely say it isn't as good as a pc. The 4k on ps5 is a jittery mess so I just use 1080p. The pro version is a bad idea if you want top performance. All the real gaming tech will always be on pc. Sure get a ps5 but be realistic, £500 worth of tech won't trump £ 1500 - 2000 of tech.

It has not been officially announced yet, but No Man's Sky I believe has a reference to PS5 Pro, so they're clinging onto hope that PC players will be jealous... Even though graphical performance is far from the big reason I love PC's
There are some leaks about hardware I guess GPU is pointing towards something like an Rx 7800 xt with lower clocks and a basically identical CPU. On paper it's a sizeable jump in performance but I honestly don't think it matters. You can't make a pc which competes with a ps5 for a similar price without the second hand market. And if you just want to game a cheap pc is much cheaper than a console especially if you factor in online+ I would personally never move to console due to mods and my game library. And well speaking of game library I doubt playstation players would come to pc even if the pro is a complete flop. The market overlap is pretty small in my mind
I am not jealous of a corporation that is actively anti-consumer on an almost weekly basis, or any Console for that matter. I won't forget the Helldivers 2 PSN fiasco Sony pulled off any time soon nor Xbox for shutting down beloved game studios like Tango Gameworks. My problem with the "Buying the pro version future proofs the game" argument, is simply that what's going to happen when that pro version becomes obsolete to stronger hardware and said game is stuck on said obsolete hardware.

It's absolutely nuts. When on console, you're paying more for games and peripherals, which cost you 70 dollars each, so that's already 140 bucks gone. Headset, that's another 80 to 120 dollars. What's that, proprietary storage unit? There's another 100 dollars gone. When your console breaks down, have fun paying another 450 to 500 dollars to replace it. We are never going back to that experience, as our main gaming source, ever again.

120hz TV, outside of games, is extremely overhyped. You aren't getting other content higher than 60 hz that aren't games. I've found you get way more out of decent HDR support.
You know what… we really dont need 4K or 120hz displays right now anyway. I have a 4K120hz tv at 55inch, but most games i play on it between series x and ps5 still run at 60hz. And 4K may be sharper than 1080p, but 1080p still looks good, even on bigger 4K displays. What IS important in my opinion is VRR. Thats a game changer ESPECIALLY for xbox games.

thing is the PS5 Pro won't be able to run games at 120fps. It will be another outdated plastic box by the time of release with AMD budget mobile hardware fro half a decade ago. Sony back when the PS4 Pro was to debut they said the reason they are making the "Pro" console is they saw former console gamers moving over to PC for better features and benefits. So in a vain attempt made it to keep their playerbase from migrating to the better platform. And even the PS4 pro was outdated by the time of its release as well.

And the balancing team nerfing everything to hell. It's supposed to be a goofy power fantasy game yet the nerfs make it almost impossible to play the game on Challenging difficulty (especially with the spawning bug, which is STILL not completely fixed) and the other players you try to play with either unable to connect properly or don't even bother sticking together for side or main objectives.

I was never a res and graphics snob, but during the last few hell years, aka lockdown, when everyone was getting tons of money i decided to finally get a big 4k tv (Which were a hell of a lot cheaper than my 50" flat screen was when i bought that thing) and my bro was like "why are you bothering with a 4k tv? You can't actually tell the difference, just wasting money". I ended up getting a 60" Qled 4k tv (i like it but this tv has ghosting tracers no matter what i plug into it) and then another 4k tv that was smaller in case this one didn't fit where i wanted it. The second tv was a screaming deal tho. Used 4k tv that was only 20 dollars because it was missing a screw. Ended up sticking that tv in another room. Anyway back to my story, my brother brought over his switch one time to show me his Zelda game and after he booted it up he froze and simply said woah. His fiancee eventually looked over and said "wow..that actually looks really good" and after i figured out why they were reacting like that i started saying "oh yeah, that's a 4k tv". His lady was saying "we're gonna have to pick up a 4k tv" and bro was scrolling thru his phone saying "that's what I'm doing right now" lol. My ps4 pro rarely hit 60 fps, and even fewer games on ps5 hit 60. I doubt the ps5 pro is gonna change that trend at all. Get a PC if that stuff matters to you. Even if it doesn't matter, you'll really appreciate those things when your system is actually capable of hitting those high marks. Personally my reason for getting a pc has everything to do with the games available to pc and like my 4k tv's, it's an awesome bonus that i can regularly hit high res and high fps
once upon a time PC was a niche space, linux was hard to use and required some knowledge of commands, computers were very expensive. Meanwhile consoles were ridiculously cheap (comparatively), extremely easy to use, required no knowledge of anything outside of "insert game press play", didn't require you or your parents to create accounts, didn't require you to be hooked up always online, didn't require you to have to purchase a one thousand dollar TV to actually get to access their 16 or 32 or 64 bit graphics, you could share games with your friends, go to blockbuster and virtually always have something new to play every single weekend at a miniscule expense. Consoles made a TON of sense back in those days. These are not those days.
If I wanted a console with no games I'd get an Xbox because AT LEAST is small, not like a tower PC from the 2000's. And I'm more than happy with my Switch, the only change i'll get would be the successor of it. Specially because with common sense it would round a PS4.5 which is more than enough for any multiplatform release for the next 5 years. 8th Gen won't die because they have still good hardware for 80% of the developers. The only people complaining about TERAFLOPS and FPS and 8K are the obnoxious PC MASTER RACE of Digital Foundry.

As a live streamer, I can tell you from experience you and your audience are going to have a better viewing experience watching you play your games at 720p 99+ frames per second than chugging at 4K 24-30 frames per second. There are quite a few XSX games that run at 120 hz if I remember right. I've had an XSX hooked to my 120 hz since the beginning. The irony here is I mainly PC game, which is hooked to a 60 hz monitor lol. I now have a PC hooked to my 120 hz TV along with the XSX.
I have a 144htz 4K monitor and I have NEVER seen an XSX (because I own one) game run at 60 yet. Maybe Forza Horizon 5 at a couple points, but it's very brief before dipping down to about 30 or 25 FPS for the most part (on performance mode too). I make sure my stuff is up to date and maintained properly so it can work the best it can. I have seen the old Gears of War run at 60 FPS though (not the "remaster" from that collection that totally wasn't advertized as having more than one game on it).

Exactly. I knew a pro model was going to come out, so I still haven't even considered getting a PS5. And when the pro does come out, I still won't even consider it for at least a year after the fact, because by they all the issues with the hardware will probably be ironed out.

I have a ps5. I can safely say it isn't as good as a pc. The 4k on ps5 is a jittery mess so I just use 1080p. The pro version is a bad idea if you want top performance. All the real gaming tech will always be on pc. Sure get a ps5 but be realistic, £500 worth of tech won't trump £ 1500 - 2000 of tech.

There are some leaks about hardware I guess
GPU is pointing towards something like an Rx 7800 xt with lower clocks and a basically identical CPU.
On paper it's a sizeable jump in performance but I honestly don't think it matters. You can't make a pc which competes with a ps5 for a similar price without the second hand market. And if you just want to game a cheap pc is much cheaper than a console especially if you factor in online+ I would personally never move to console due to mods and my game library.
And well speaking of game library I doubt playstation players would come to pc even if the pro is a complete flop. The market overlap is pretty small in my mind

120hz TV, outside of games, is extremely overhyped. You aren't getting other content higher than 60 hz that aren't games. I've found you get way more out of decent HDR support.
You know what… we really dont need 4K or 120hz displays right now anyway. I have a 4K120hz tv at 55inch, but most games i play on it between series x and ps5 still run at 60hz. And 4K may be sharper than 1080p, but 1080p still looks good, even on bigger 4K displays. What IS important in my opinion is VRR. Thats a game changer ESPECIALLY for xbox games.

Sony back when the PS4 Pro was to debut they said the reason they are making the "Pro" console is they saw former console gamers moving over to PC for better features and benefits. So in a vain attempt made it to keep their playerbase from migrating to the better platform. And even the PS4 pro was outdated by the time of its release as well.

I was never a res and graphics snob, but during the last few hell years, aka lockdown, when everyone was getting tons of money i decided to finally get a big 4k tv (Which were a hell of a lot cheaper than my 50" flat screen was when i bought that thing) and my bro was like "why are you bothering with a 4k tv? You can't actually tell the difference, just wasting money". I ended up getting a 60" Qled 4k tv (i like it but this tv has ghosting tracers no matter what i plug into it) and then another 4k tv that was smaller in case this one didn't fit where i wanted it. The second tv was a screaming deal tho. Used 4k tv that was only 20 dollars because it was missing a screw. Ended up sticking that tv in another room. Anyway back to my story, my brother brought over his switch one time to show me his Zelda game and after he booted it up he froze and simply said woah. His fiancee eventually looked over and said "wow..that actually looks really good" and after i figured out why they were reacting like that i started saying "oh yeah, that's a 4k tv". His lady was saying "we're gonna have to pick up a 4k tv" and bro was scrolling thru his phone saying "that's what I'm doing right now" lol.
My ps4 pro rarely hit 60 fps, and even fewer games on ps5 hit 60. I doubt the ps5 pro is gonna change that trend at all. Get a PC if that stuff matters to you. Even if it doesn't matter, you'll really appreciate those things when your system is actually capable of hitting those high marks. Personally my reason for getting a pc has everything to do with the games available to pc and like my 4k tv's, it's an awesome bonus that i can regularly hit high res and high fps
If I was a PS5 owner I wouldn't touch the Pro version until the PS6 came out. Glad I'm on PC saves me all the headache of a console gamer.
once upon a time PC was a niche space, linux was hard to use and required some knowledge of commands, computers were very expensive. Meanwhile consoles were ridiculously cheap (comparatively), extremely easy to use, required no knowledge of anything outside of "insert game press play", didn't require you or your parents to create accounts, didn't require you to be hooked up always online, didn't require you to have to purchase a one thousand dollar TV to actually get to access their 16 or 32 or 64 bit graphics, you could share games with your friends, go to blockbuster and virtually always have something new to play every single weekend at a miniscule expense. Consoles made a TON of sense back in those days. These are not those days.
If I wanted a console with no games I'd get an Xbox because AT LEAST is small, not like a tower PC from the 2000's.
And I'm more than happy with my Switch, the only change i'll get would be the successor of it.
Specially because with common sense it would round a PS4.5 which is more than enough for any multiplatform release for the next 5 years.
8th Gen won't die because they have still good hardware for 80% of the developers. The only people complaining about TERAFLOPS and FPS and 8K are the obnoxious PC MASTER RACE of Digital Foundry.

I can't hate the PS5 Pro if I never give it a thought. The only thing I can think of the I don't like about playstation is the controller. My hands are way too big for the position of the thumbsticks.

Not even my mid end pc can not run most modern AAA games at 1440p 120 let alone 4k 120. And my pc is better than average pcs.
Consoles use upscaling when it comes to 4K and 1440p 120 fps they also turn some graphic settings down
Fr playstation fanboys want to be like pcs so badly , i even played 4k resolution on a rtx2070super at high or max settings some games didnt have dlss and still managed to get 60fps or even more , pc can actually surpass 60fps on 4k unlike consoles i cant believe they just out flat believed that the console actually runs 4k 120fps 😭😂

As a live streamer, I can tell you from experience you and your audience are going to have a better viewing experience watching you play your games at 720p 99+ frames per second than chugging at 4K 24-30 frames per second. This is something the PS5 pro can't guarantee.

I'm always getting disappointed by people like this and many reasons why I hate fandoms. I've played with Playstation since Ps1 times, but I can be still critical about things I love or loved. If I wouldn't care, I wouldn't judge them. But can't we just play games? That's the point of all these platforms(Sony, Nintendo, Xbox, Pc). There are quite a few XSX games that run at 120 hz if I remember right. I've had an XSX hooked to my 120 hz since the beginning. The irony here is I mainly PC game, which is hooked to a 60 hz monitor lol. I now have a PC hooked to my 120 hz TV along with the XSX.
I have a 144htz 4K monitor and I have NEVER seen an XSX (because I own one) game run at 60 yet. Maybe Forza Horizon 5 at a couple points, but it's very brief before dipping down to about 30 or 25 FPS for the most part (on performance mode too). I make sure my stuff is up to date and maintained properly so it can work the best it can. I have seen the old Gears of War run at 60 FPS though (not the "remaster" from that collection that totally wasn't advertized as having more than one game on it).
