Wes I REALLY appreciate that you share the same passion in support of our Uki brothers and sisters over there ... and I love your excellent magazine style video format using cutaways/inserts, to display exactly what you are talking about as imagery examples for the audience... Ukraine should look into a modern road closer, a Semi-truck that has "Jack Knifed" and spilled its "Load" all over the road. One lane of traffic that is just wide enough. Road has really bad shoulders. Concrete debris is really good, other things will do. Other Vehicles will make for more time and work. Nothing will ruin your plans more than hearing the road is now closed because of an “Accident”.
From my limited experience from metal work. Sheet metal stamp cut wide strip, forked to two strip joined from middle, then twist to shape correctly. No need to be even sharp to punch tyre from truck
Imagine being the 1st person in your squad to step on one, which makes you trip & fall forward, & land w/ your arms splayed-out & land on your belly. You could probably hook-up w/ at least 3. That would be pretty lethal, eh?
Fun video! You forgot about one caltrop used by the Nazis. They built those huge caltrops and put them on the beaches as anti-tank obstacles. Just goes to show that "what has been old can be new again.: Great video!

Not too long ago, Ukrainians were laughing at the Russians for having such prepared defenses which so brutally stopped them in their tracks during the summer counter offensive, yet to this day Ukrainians have fail to take preparation works and secondary lines of defense seriously. If they did so they would not be continuously losing so much ground when a position eventually falls.
With all the new and advanced weapon technology, the oldie goldies are still the best .. I once saw a high tech leopard 2a tank immobilized and futilized by a rain drenched mudpool, so far high tech 🤣🤣🤣

This is the best technique .

LOL, saw the title and my first thought was Caltrops! And here we are.
Ukrain’s “Macgyver” army. Fabulous phrase thank you!
I knew it!! Got to stop those cavalry charges.
Caltrops would be bad news for motorcycle troops running at speed in the dark ...
Bad news for any vehicle with inflated tyres.
So are cables stretched across the road!

In terms of creativity, Ukranians are second to no one. In the course of two and half years of war, they have never failed to amaze me.
Necessity has always been the mother of invention.

Are flame throwers illegal to use in war now?
Caltrops were mainly an anti-cavalry device.
Nope. The word means foot-trap. The first roman ones were hidden with dead leaves to harm soldier's feet.
