The beaufighter is really under rated, it performed incredibly well in all theatres. Interesting fact (if you like such things) it had 4 .303 machine guns in one wing and 2 in the other. I think it was to fit a searchlight or something. Oh and another brilliantly produced and narrated video with a terrible landing Taff. We expect nothing less.
A landing light, not a searchlight. But they did on this (and other aircraft) try to use landing lights to illuminate targets for nightfighting. It did a lovely job of illuminating where the fighter was more than lighting the target and was soon abandoned. They also tried the 'Turbinlite' which a Havoc with a big light and two Hurricanes. Also didn't really work.
When landing, IMMEDIATELY upon touchdown, flaps UP and engines to idle. Then, after you slow down to well below takeoff speed, pull the stick all the way back while GENTLY applying the brakes.
4 .303s in the starboard wing and 2 .303s in the port wing, then changed to .50cal in later models, the most heavilly armed fighter of the war, plus 8 rockets,or torpedeo 08:40
The Beaufighter didn't have three .303s in each wing. It had four in the right, and two in the left, because of the landing light being mounted in the left wing.
Taff. Really enjoy the Cliffs of Dover videos hope that is your next series. Work has me away from the family for nine months, but at least that means I get to control the TV. Always a Taff video on. :) :)
2 things. She has 4 guns in her starboard wing, 2 in her port I wondered about that, when you said 3 and 3. Aaaaaand, OH BUGGER! I had t explain what that meant, to my wife. Now, she's saying it. It's funny.
You might be surprised to learn that the six .303 in Brownings in the wings were asymmetrical with four starboard and two port. The asymmetry is caused by the landing light in the port wing.
Night fighter ops. It ain't easy to spot the bandit, especially when below you. But two good kills....now home. Lovely landing........OWW, BUGGER. Well, if you can walk away......Wonder if they can repair the crate?
Hey Taff I got a quick question, do you still play Rise of Flight ? And if so could you possibly do some missions in a Heavy Bomber like the Hadley Page or the Gotha ? I would LOVE to see that ! As always Stay Awesome Taff
Firstly there weren't 3 .303 in each wing, it was two one side and four the other. Not sure they used tracer either as it gave away the night fighter's position.
That tipping over the end was dead authentic because the major fault on Beaufighters was being nose-heavy and fir this reason they were a death trap if you attempted amerissage. Most planes would stay afloat for enough time to escape.
Whats up with the weird tabs/protrusions all over the exhaust, some kind of extra cooling thing or something? Or maybe some kind of baffles to keep flames from coming out and making it harder to spot while night fighting...?
I like your tactic of attacking from underneath the HE 110 to keep you camouflaged against the darkness of the UK countryside. However you may wish to attack from the front as this was a tactic used by Hurricane pilots during WWII.
Want to hear something creepy, my Son when he was only about two years old was sitting in our lounge room with the wife and I. He was playing happily with his toys, I was watching a documentary on English Spitfires, when quite out of the blue my Son states that he used to fly Beau fighters. This took the wife and I back, at the time I didn't even know what was a beau fighter, so if didn't know about it, he could not have heard it from anywhere. He never mentioned it again and he always seemed reluctant to pursue the subject with us. Strange don't you think.
Either the Beaufighter isn’t that fast, or those Heinkels were really moving! Closing speed was pretty low, you got shot up more than I expected by the rear gunners.
The moment when you when you went arse over tit on landing I actually said o bugger lol I said the same when I did the same on push bike landing on my arse resulting in a lost tooth and a minor scar on my chin.
It’s not ready for VR yet. The dev team is currently working on it and released a video update of VR working. You can see the updates on the steam IL2COD game page.
Tsk, tsk. You still haven't figured out trigger control. Well, maybe a little. You did manage to squeeze off some bursts without immediately pulling your guns off target.
Love the new aircraft, but it takes quite some skill to crash at both ends of the runway in a single landing.
LOLZ
I like how you ended with a very apt British assessment of the situation." Oh bugger!" 😁👍

Was that the reason? I've always wondered why the layout was asymetrical
@@coryhall7074 It's a landing light for the landings in the dark iirc.
The Japanese called it the 'Whispereing Death'.

It also had 4 x 20mm Hispano Cannon

Oh bugger, many a famous few words have been spoken but none truer than Oh bugger :0) love the vid taff and please do keep them coming :0)
Congratulations Taff on pulling off a near perfect Jingles Landing 🤣 I'm sure the Gnome Overlord will be very proud of you 😁
I was thinking the same thing.....
4 .303s in the starboard wing and 2 .303s in the port wing, then changed to .50cal in later models, the most heavilly armed fighter of the war, plus 8 rockets,or torpedeo 08:40
Cat Eyes Taff..well done...interesting.
Love the Beaufighter. Most underated aircraft of the war it deserved much more kudos.
wabi sabi. loved the aesthetics and atmosphere removed from any geeky pretense. it's human.
Would absolutely love a nightfighter career less touched on aspect of air warfare in world war 2.
Ahhh So nice. Jingles would be so proud lol.
Yes!!!! Awesome. Great choice!!!
Great landing.............um,........ Doh!
Taff is the war sim Daggerwin. Love it.

Night fighting. Well, this is different! 😅🏴
(Always thought the Beaufighter a bit of an odd duck; but now I see what she was made for.)
Taff. Really enjoy the Cliffs of Dover videos hope that is your next series. Work has me away from the family for nine months, but at least that means I get to control the TV. Always a Taff video on. :) :)
Amazing you can hear the air raid sirens from way up there...lol
As a subscriber for years, I thought that was your best landing ever.... until the end of the runway. HAHA
I love this game. Can't wait for TrueSky!

Love how you do like story excellent work can’t wait for your next video
Nice Storytelling and video editing.. It has given a story and entertainment... 👍
Thankyou
This is interesting, very little on the Beau. Good choice.
Beaufighter was great in defence and attack.
I agree with a few others, a night fighter career would be cool. I haven't seen a night fighter career on youtube. Great quality as always, cheers.

Great video taff! Keep them coming. Oh bugger 😂😂
Another Taff Landing :D...Luke would be proud lol
Night fighter ops. It ain't easy to spot the bandit, especially when below you. But two good kills....now home.

Would love a beaufighter or mosquito career mode!
That'll buff out.
Bit of T cut and a soft cloth no problem.
just another typical Taff landing (nuthin to see!) :) great video m8 keep them comin along!
That was the best intro you’ve made so far, keep it going just like that 👍
Firstly there weren't 3 .303 in each wing, it was two one side and four the other. Not sure they used tracer either as it gave away the night fighter's position.
Perfect way to end a video, mate!
That Beau Fighter seems quite the beast, but not exactly agile.
Oh, man.
Your crew chief is gonna be *pissed*.
Phew. Think about how his poor Radio Operator feels
That Beau Fighter is pretty cool. Well, at least what is left of it.
Or maybe some kind of baffles to keep flames from coming out and making it harder to spot while night fighting...?
wow i really liked this one bother
Colonel Failure would have been proud of this episode.
lol perfect landing right up near the end :-)
I suspect the wireless operators trousers may also have needed cleaning, not just the undercarriage. And more than just his trousers after the flip.
Very nice video, nicely 'filmed' too.
Hey Taff what's with the Jingles landing? LoL
Nice Vid. Nice Plane 😊
Np points on landing but great mission and more training on landing
I like your tactic of attacking from underneath the HE 110 to keep you camouflaged against the darkness of the UK countryside. However you may wish to attack from the front as this was a tactic used by Hurricane pilots during WWII.
Something, something, barn door with a banjo.
You heard the sirens whilst sitting between two radial engines?
Wow....🤪
I'd love to see a nighfighter career.
The Australian built Mark 21's swapped out the .303's for four .50 Cals to add a bit of bigger stick to the four 20mm.
Awesome Jingles landing mate, btw, you have 4 .30 cal. guns in each wing, not 3.
I enjoyed that 👍🇬🇧😎
3,200 angry horsepower and a truckload of artillery in a tiny space.

Made a note in my diary on the way over here. Simply says...Bugger!
I mean, who would have noticed another madman round here?
You are definitely my favourite youtuber. What went wrong, do you think?
Bumps a daisy. Looks like you had a fuel leak on the Port wing?
Aw! Bugger indeed
Maybe you need some shooting practice...landing practice as well. I hope you get a second plane.
See! If you were flying a Boulton paul defiant night fighter, that wouldn't have happened. :D
A Jingles Landing!
Either the Beaufighter isn’t that fast, or those Heinkels were really moving! Closing speed was pretty low, you got shot up more than I expected by the rear gunners.
Thank you, another great video! The gunsight is too bloody bright for the night mission... Is there a possibility, to change the brightness?
There is! By key input (see control settings) and - at least for some German planes - by the clickable cockpit.
That ending... lol
Taff. Did you have a problem saving this mission? I remember hitting escape and losing it unable to advance to next mission.
Oh, that's Flight Officer Taff, callsign Flipper. How did he get that name? Well, let me tell you a story...
There goes the no claims bonus...😂🤣
"I'D LIKE SOME MORE PLEASE!"
-totally not done with an Oliver Twist voice...
Been taking lessons from Luke ?
LOL slam on the Breaks.......
I like this it is different
Landing like one of mine lol
Don't worry, a bit of speed tape and a wipe with an oily wrag and she'll do a trip 😉
Any landing you walk away from.
Someone is going to get reamed by ground crew chief, and the c.o. Nevermind, blame battle damage!
Is there b17 in il2
sadly not, there is the b-25 but no heavys
heheheheeheh!!!! CLASSIC
The moment when you when you went arse over tit on landing I actually said o bugger lol
I said the same when I did the same on push bike landing on my arse resulting in a lost tooth and a minor scar on my chin.
Does anyone know how to get this game to run in VR? I would love to play cliffs of Dover on my oculus like I can with great battles.
It’s not ready for VR yet. The dev team is currently working on it and released a video update of VR working. You can see the updates on the steam IL2COD game page.
