- As I continue the tool trailer custom shelf build out, I get some help from Greg which is nice. Since he has to work in and out of the tool trailer too, it was good to get some of his input. In this video, we focus on the passenger side of the trailer. To help balance out the weight in the trailer, it is important to consider how much is stored on each side.

i was a contractor for 40 yrs prior to my retirement last yr Milwaukee , has always been my tool of choice
I read the entire Ryan's ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxGqOCINHE0Z0E5gxzSdNi9NWGugRY5Hm2 Plans and was able to make a shed plan. Using Ryan's Shed Plans alone, the shed itself is great. Where I wish I knew more is with respect to ground preparation and foundations. Maybe that's beyond the scope of Ryan's Shed Plans.
I love seeing the campers in the background.
We only see you working long hard days on this channel. Knowing your taking time with the family, doing things like camping. Makes me respect you more as a family man, And makes me realize you can work hard, be successful, and still enjoy family time.

Kyle, no waste of time watching this video. Alot of us have trailer organization issues carrying the tools we need on the jobsite. I use a 26 foot trl and can't find what I need. I will be receiving a new 28 ft next month and will use what I learned from the 2 videos before I put the first tool on it. Great knowledge and ideas and stay warm!!

Kyle, in close to twenty years of running a service van and having company "responsibiities", I have outfitted five Ford x50 series vans on two different wheelbases for myself and about a dozen for the shop. All of my personals were different, and even the "company specials" had some differences. Even doing this with prebuilt catalog stuff will get variances. You just have to build it the best way it comes to hand and take the very attitude you have- time will tell you what it really needs. Awesome build- wish I had had the nifty little pocket screw gizmo! Also, FWIW, I have had a bad accident where my van was rear ended at speed- the separator wall I built of 3/4" BC plywood did a better job of stopping all my stuff joining me in the front of the van than a couple of "rated" metal panel prebuilt ones did for other guys. A not inconsiderable advantage! Being a plumber and HVAC guy by trade, my carpentry was nowhere near yours- Kudos to you and Gregg! FR

The nice thing about building your own storage instead of buying a system is that if you decide you don't like something, you can always rebuild it later and not feel like you wasted money. Looking good so far!

When securing things such as you need for your cut hubs, I have used "Airplane Seat Belt Extenders" from eBay. Instant on/off with tension adjustment to reduce rattle. For large objects, just cut them in half and attach with large washers to your plywood. Much easier and quicker than ratchet straps or bungee cords which do not hold well and are a safety hazzard.
Your shed set up looks amazing, basketball hoop, home gym, campervan!

Kyle-you should really look at using parallel guides and long track for breaking down plywood. Works really well for one man to just move the saw and not the full sheets. Thanks for re-enforcing pride in doing things the right way.

I love that the thumbnail actually happened ( 15:18 ), compared to other youtubers who do that "oh no" look on all their thumbnails and it obviously was a photo they took just for the thumbnail and never happened in the video.

I really enjoyed this video. It would be really cool if you started a furniture series, beginning with very easy projects, and working into more advanced pieces. With this, some deeper dives into math would be fun.

“It ain’t going nowhere” I wonder how Mrs. RR buildings feels about that 🤣. Seriously though, I love your content. Being a skilled craftsman is one thing. Taking your time to teach those of us who are anything but, is on another level. Thank you for taking the time.
I've did the same. In my opinion, when it comes to organization or storage options, you won't get it right at the first attempt. You have to just build it, use it, and then over time you will see the flaws or stuff you can improve upon. There isn't a wrong or right way to do it, it just takes time of being in the field. I like a pack out system but not for hand tools unless its labeled or a see-through top. That way you aren't searching for what you need. I end up using a "french cleat" system for all of my battery powered hand tools like drills, impacts and etc. It seems more efficient when you can walk in, see it instantly, grab and go.

The time you spend making your workspace more efficient will save you time which is money, on the job site.
I have a small workshop in downtown Tokyo, I like to say I have 10 pounds of potatoes in a 5-pound bag LOL.
Don't forget your ceiling, utilize that space too!

Perhaps cuthub saw could live up front? Or maybe it could ‘mount’ in numerous spots depending on its usage for a given project. I like having all my precision tools way forward to lesson the bumpy ride.

If you happen to have four scissor jacks, maybe for a camper trailer, you could have used them to level out your trailer before installing the cabinets. You could then use a level on your cabinets. Awesome build though👌
Totally could have... but it would never be level again lol
I can’t wait to see mid job or a few months down the road cause if you’re anything like me, stuff gets rifled everywhere and then on a slow day be able spend all day reorganizing and cleaning just to do it all over again lol

The only thing that I would do different is make shelves adjustable, looks functional!!!
build a tray on drawer glides, put a plywood pocket on the front with a slot for the bags. the bag handles habg out the slot, which can double as a handle to pull out the cubby.

You should move the cut hub cabinet over so when you get the packout drawers they’ll fit drawers out toward your double doors

I had a rep from Morton come out to look at my building. I honestly think I knew more than him just from watching your channel.
You need Solar panels on the roof of the trailer so it charges all of your equipment. Something to think about.
That and 4 wind turbines.
And replace all plastic straws inside the trailer with paper straws in plastic wraps.

Even though it is not finished I will say at the end of the video there is at least 60% of the volume of that trailer being wasted. There has to be room for personnel to move through to access it but there is so much wasted space in there currently. Kyle, dont forget to seal that ply, you guys get tools pretty dirty on the jobs and that ply will start looking grubby and stained and youll hate it.
Hope you have a good trailer lock. With that much equipment, once i got on sight i might take the wheels off and anchor the thing to the ground. I've got a 28ft trailer that i want to customize for side by side hauling/poor mans camper trailer.
For the cut hub stand holder route a L into each side of the cabinet but with it going down. Then use a piece of steel rod with a washer welded to each end that slides in and drops down
After a lot of thought, this video has helped my decision. I need to replace my Bravo 16L x 8.5w trailer. That I packed tight with layers of organization. I was hesitant, should I up grade to 20ft? Then I see that you have one about that size, to haul you sticker collection. Decision made. That Martinez framing square is TIGHT. Is that available for the rest of us? I saw that awesome video you did with him at his factory. Been waiting for years for one. I got a different one after waiting a couple years for it to drop. Cabinet making, shelving, sleek storage solutions are my wheel house. Just plain fun to me. Hope this project open up you carpenter skill set into finish work, if you can find the fun in any task you will never go to work.

Have you ever thought about installing some solar for charging your tool batteries while out on the job site and also run the lights inside of the trailer. Would be easy enough to do.
Kreg jig system is wonderful.
However their screws need to be star drive, especially the screws for 2” lumber.

What's your plan for the built in base cabinets? Was thinking, and you probably have as well, that you could organize fasteners, tubes of caulk, spray paints, etc, in something like milk crates or other type of removable containers. Trailer organization redux looks great!

I like your ideas. It is scary how similar my set up was. Not sure how you ate able the screw into the plywood end grain and have strength. Especially no glue.
