Ron Dante is still a hunk! Have a cardboard single of "Sugar Sugar" that I cut off a Super Sugar Crisp cereal box as a kid. Even played it on the radio and it sounded good.
Real simple; when Don Kirshner was asked to supervise the music for "The Archies" in 1968, he had just come off a disaster with The Monkees, where Mike Nesmith almost rearranged his face over creative control. This time, Kirshner demanded the songs be under his full control, recorded by studio musicians under producer Jeff Barry in New York, that they neither tour nor do live performance, and be uncredited. He got it. Ron Dante couldn't say anything about his role publicly until the project ended in 1972. Then he met up with another studio and jingle whiz named Barry Manilow, and the rest is history.
if you wanna hear a super super rare song of rons, try to find a copy of this gem, "don't call it love" on bell records from 1973. he recorded this under the name bo cooper for some reason. great song but hard to find. lucky to have it
@BernardProfitendieu Ha ha don't give up on all of humanity. I think it's kind of obvious you were joking - so there's at least one other sane person out here xD.
Ron Dante is one of the coolest and most down to earth performers you'd ever want to meet. I bought his last CD. I keep waiting for a new one Ron.
this guy was amazing i loved sugar sugar best song ever
Wow! Cool schtuff!
So glad to hear he's still doing it...and is now allowed to come out and say who he is.
Happy birthday today, Ronnie!
Ron was a major influence as a producer/songwriter working with Barry Manilow as well. Barry has done quite well for himself with Ron's expert help.

Ron Dante is down to earth cool guy! And Danielle is stunningly gorgeous wonder what she's doing now. Now wondering who is Veronica?
