David Gilmours wife said that he found it very hard to really show his emotions in daily life. The only time he could was when he had a guitar in his hands and you can see that in every live performance. Totally committed to the music. Ola you look wonderful in that sparkling top by the way.

I'm now 73yrs old and a child of the 60's. Pink Floyd, The Floyd, as we used to call them are one of the most iconic bands to ever exist! David Gilmore is definitely one of the greatest guitarist ever. You said it right....Pink Floyd's music is magical and beautiful! 🎶🎵💯👍👌❤️❤️❤️

Linda, I too am 73 now. In a world of dumpster fire trashpop, bands like Pink Floyd have always soared high above it all. They don't play songs. They perform exquisite compositions that go straight to the heart and soul.

So beautiful, one of Gilmour's best solos, and the atmospherics from Rick and the backing singers, just gorgeous. When Machan wails at the moment of peak energy, it brings tears to my eyes every time. Great reaction - I'm envious that you're hearing PF for the first time. I'd love to have that joy of discovery back with PF again, but the good news it, it never stops being beautiful.

To be able to play electric guitar like David Gilmour is a gift from God, as is this song. Yes, David can lift an entire stadiums hearts way, way up there with his solos and we wish they would go on forever. Pure musical joy! 🎸💖🎸

You think it is OK to deny David credit for his ability? No magic is involved here. This is what a lifetime of dedicated effort brings. So kindly keep your filthy god assertions to yourself.

@@donepearce So you hate God and blaspheme Him. Do you actually think that makes you a big man? You will have to explain your hatred and words to Him, so if I were you I would spend a lot more time learning and a lot less time yapping. He created the entire universe and everything in it, including you. He also owns you, whether you like it or not. So show some respect and gratitude. Without Jesus you wouldn't even exist.
As for denying David Gilmour credit for his skills as a musician, clearly he has worked hard and I have followed him since the early 1970s. You reasoning is suspect to say the least! Now go away, as the Critical Drinker would say.

You just can't go wrong with this band, they always deliver, as they did here. I don't think you have done Echoes yet, for real old fans like me, it's one of their signature songs and a prog rock epic. There are 3 essential versions:
The studio original off the Meddle album is an all time classic.
The live in Pompeii 1972 performance in a unique setting (ancient Roman Colloseum) with them in their prime, playing incredibly for their crew and all the lost souls from Vesuvius a volcanic eruption from 2,000 years ago. Unforgettable!
As is the last time David Gilmour played it live, on his solo tour in 2006 on the docks of the Gdansk Shipyards in Poland, where the Polish Freedom Movement began in the 1980s, also it was last time Richard Wright played it as well, very emotional and poignant. You should check out all 3 in time, it will be well worth your time, pretty young lady! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

Regarding your future Echoes reaction, the live version by David and Richard and friends at Gdansk in 2006 is much better than the Pompeii version of 1971. Don't get me wrong, Echoes at Pompeii is good, but everyone was truly on fire at Gdansk, and you owe it to yourself to check out that version of Echoes also.

This concert, The Delicate Sound of Thunder, often gets eclipsed by Pulse (which is understandable), but I think it's probably their best live recording, and this solo is often overlooked because of the greatness of the "Comfortably Numb" solo (which is also understandable), but it's one of Gilmour's top solos, imho. I'll also throw in a pitch for "Yet Another Movie" from this concert; it's a bit brighter than but in the same spirit of "Sorrow" (both songs are from the same studio album)!

I'll never forget the story I read about a cop who investigated a negligent homicide then went home and locked himself in a room and played this over and over at full volume for eight hours while his family pounded on the door.

This is like doing acid without doing acid......its a beautiful mind trip and an eargasm for the soul. Ola i really do enjoy watching you light up with these great songs, its so very cool seeing these songs touch your heart and soul. The best part is watching you "get it" in real time as it hits you on the inside. I know you are swamped with suggestions but let me throw just one more at you if only to keep it on your mind maybe, the song is titled Us and Them from The Dark Side of the Moon album. Its one i know you will love. My live version preference is from The Delicate Sound Of Thunder tour even though The Pulse tour has better lighting effects...the othe has better musical and vocal aspects. Plus, that was the tour i first saw them live...ill never ever forget that night in Cleveland Ohio, after driving all night to get there from my home town with my wife and two very good friends, man we were so young and free then. And that version is very, very close to the studio version. Just a thought. Stay safe pretty lady and of course..stay cool. ❤ from fla usa
