Claire Gearhart In demographic science, the word "fertile" as nothing to do with the ability to have children in a biological point of view, it actually refers to the average number of children a woman has. It is strictly statistics.
Imon No, as someone already said, “fertility” is being used as a statistical term. It means women who actually have children, not if they can actually have kids or not.
I live near the San Diego temple, it’s next to the freeway so we drive by it all the time.... my little sister thinks it’s where the Disney princesses live.
@Travis I'm a Mormon and have been to the temple and it's peaceful and makes you feel safe and we do interesting things that don't always make sense but it's just what we do Amish people banish anyone who dosent believe in that religion anymore.
@Travis well that is your opinion , and we all have the right to have opinions . I hope you learn more about the world and how everyone is different but just know I don't care what you think I know that the temple is a special place not "made up fiction " and your probaly sad and life and I'm happier than you'll ever be have a nice day and stop replying and bursting people's bubbles😊
Thank you for showing a series of wedding from different religions without being biased or rude about any of them. As a member of the LDS Church myself, I found it very comforting and relieving to see journalism that did not mock, ridicule or belittle my religion and our beliefs. I hope others can learn from your example.
Jesus Christ is God incarnate who came to earth to be born and live a perfect life, a sinless life. (He is one person of the Trinity, consisting of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; one God in three persons not three Gods.) Jesus then gave Himself up to be crucified and died to pay for the sins of the whole world. My sin, your sin, the sins of everybody. 3 days later He was resurrected. He now offers salvation to all who will turn from their sin and trust Him to save them from eternity in hell. He paid our debts because we couldn't, but we have to trust Him to do it. I cannot add anything to what He has done (not even baptism). I cannot do enough good to take even a year off of my death sentence in hell. The sentence is a never ending one, because I have sinned against an eternal God. But Jesus took my punishment, He saved me, and offers that same salvation to you. I am praying for you.
@@cristaferrari-girault732 Temple marriages are legal, again, only a member can go inside of a temple. If a member married a nonmember, that would happen outside of a temple. What’s specific and special about our marriage ceremonies-compared to a Catholic ceremony-is that we believe that temple (celestial) marriage is eternal, it lasts forever. Other marriages say “until death do you part” and for us it is to live “eternal lives” and “worlds without end.”
@@redrose1806 hey so there’s no such thing as a typical Muslim wedding. Most Muslim countries share some similarities proper to Islam, but weddings in Muslim families differ according to their nationalities ! Ie a Saudi wedding would be completely different than a Moroccan one
Omg yesss!!! Nigerian weddings are literally the royalty of weddings!!! But please let it be an authentic one. Not one that has been watered down by the White man
Clarification: Not ALL adults wear garments. Only after members have gone through the temple and made certain promises. And you're supposed to maintain temple worthiness by living certain standards while wearing the garments in order to re-enter the temple.
Garments are not magical , they are a tangible reminder of the premises one made to God at baptism and when participating in temple ordinances. Mainly to live a Christian life, to put Jesus at the center of our live, to dedicate ourselves to serve him and only him to live pure lives. There are biblical precedents to garments. If you are familiar with the books of Exodus, God instructs Moses to clothe Aaron and his descendants in linen breeches and a shift so that they may not appear "naked" before the Lord. Many other faiths also use tangible reminders of their beliefs A devoted Jewish man I know wears a yarmulke and philacteries, a Muslim coworker wears a headscarf , nuns wear habits, Buddhist monks wear saffron robes etc.
@@Elizabeth-eb9il this isn't a cult, we're not going to have people coming in and checking to see if you follow through with what you are saying. This is a decision that adults have to make themselves and there are many people that do to sensory problems mental health concerns or for other reasons choose not to and that's between them and the Lord they're the people who make the promises with God we each have to make an individual choice of how we want to live our lives in a way that is the most loving and productive. ❤️

I'm Mormon, and when I first saw this video I panicked a little, because most usually make fun of us. But you took the time to understand and find an actual Mormon family. Thank you for the respect. Love you Refinery 29!! Edit: I saw some grammar mistakes :)
FireandIcegirls I was worried about the same thing, but they handled everything it well! I only wish they had specified that the 10% we pay is a Tithe, which many different religions adhere to, instead of making it sound like a dues or membership fee.
Malauney thank you for the clarification. This is very similar in a way in Islam where we call it as Zakat. Would love to see if they can explain more because I find this videos is kinda short but they explained it really well.
Thank you for being so respectful of the different faiths this channel covers. Each one I have watched is so beautiful, and sacred, and meaningful. Thank you.

I was raised Mormon and attended church until I turned 18 before realizing that the religion wasn't for me. Still, I'm very much in awe of Mormon traditions and doctrines. I may not believe them anymore but I do think they're beautiful things that make beautiful people. My family are still very active in the church and they're wonderful people who just try their best to do what they think is right and are very chill about it. The thing I appreciate most about Mormons is their emphasis on family! Don't think I can ever speak poorly of this church and I'm glad that this video was very objective as opposed to those who are so aggressive and set on bringing religious things down.
Fair enough. My sister feels the same way. She hasn't explicitly come out as lesbian to the church folk she grew up with but, fortunately for her, my parents (who are very much active in the church), accepted her and her partner into our family. While she appreciates the way my parents chose to apply the teachings of the church (respecting free agency and all that), she can't help but resent the religion itself.
Cai M But there is always a bad side to religion. Just because other people expose the dark secrets of the church should not make you feel some type of way. I wish I would have known before I joined. They only tell you one side and then they glamorize it. That's not right. At all!!! But like pretty much all occult like religions they just want you to see one side.
I'm really not trying to offend people here, and most of mormons I have met have been lovely people, but if a churches stipulation is that you have to pay 10% of your income to the church, then I would be very cautious of putting my faith in that system.
Jane G you dont HAVE to but it is highly encouraged. Similar to passing a collection tray for donations. Mormons donate 10% of their income which helps support families, churches, and a lot of charity work
Jane G, the 10% we donate is a tithe, such as referenced in the Old Testament of the Bible, and it goes to various branches for administrative, charitable, and educational uses. It is recommended to pay a tithe, but it is not forced upon anyone. You do need to declare yourself a full-tithe payer to attend the Temple, but it is always an individual choice.
I'm Mormon, when my husband and I married since no one in our families were Mormon, we had a ring ceremony in our church building followed by a reception in a local banquet hall. We were sealed in the temple later on , Many Mormon friends joined us during our sealing ceremony. A sealing is a very simple ceremony, there is no exchange of ring or photography.. If you Google pictures of temples you will see pictures of sealing rooms these were taken when the temple was built or after a major remodeling. At the center of a sealing room is an altar the bride and the groom kneel at opposite sides while they exchange vows. Another feature of a sealing room is two mirrors installed so that one mirror faces the other creating endless reflections , this symbolizes the eternal nature of marriage. There are also chairs for the officiant, witnesses and guests who are permitted into the temple.
Jim Caponzi you think we want big weddings to out do you? You really think we’re trying to compete with you? I’m sorry but you are completely wrong in your logic.
Antonina MacNeish if you are Mormon, then you should accept the teachings of the church and accept that non members and unbelievers cannot attend your wedding and stop trying to Quotation marks
Is it still possible for one person of the couple to not be a member of LDS? If one of the couple isn't Mormon, is it impossible to go through a temple sealing? Is it discouraged to marry outside of the faith?

@@auroraread1897 it’s totally possible to marry someone of a different religion, and the wedding ceremony would be held somewhere else. It is encouraged to get married in the temple because of the blessings of being sealed to each other and Gods family.
WOW! Thank you so much Refinery29 for this video! Thank you for talking to actual LDS people and not “Mormon experts” as I’ve seen so many other news/media outlets do. You explained everything perfectly without being biased. I appreciate this greatly because so many people are confused or seemingly offended by the idea of of temple marriages. But you put this in a way that makes it seem normal and natural, yet, special and unique. Again, thank you! Well done!
I've seen a lot of comments and questions about family and friends not being able to attend if they aren't members, so I'd like to try and clear it up as much as I can. The family and friends can come to the wedding, they just can't go inside the Temple and attend the ceremony. Same goes for members who just have not had their endowments or been married, they can't go into the ceremony. But another option is you can have a civil wedding so all your family and friends can be there and then you can be sealed/married in the Temple about a year later. Hopefully that clears some things up! :)
I’m jewish, but I’ve been to many Orthdox weddings since I’m russian and I can say that they are so good! Almost as good as jewish weddings and that’s hard to too lol, but maybe that’s because russian weddings (no matter the religion) are amazing in general!
I know not all the people that were at my wedding we're not of the same religion and I couldn't imagen telling someone they couldn't come because we didn't share the same faith. Just a own personal opinion. To each his own but I'm very welcoming to others and I mean no matter religion I think all should be welcome in a celebration that is love. It's a common ground everyone shares. But from watching this and seeing the bride's own father would be unable to go because he drank just kinda hurt. I'm not a parent but I couldn't imagen turning away someone that brought me into this world. I guess it's just a difference of values.
Sedona Sanders the bride and groom always have the choice to be married outside the Temple, in which case anyone can attend, and then be sealed at a later date. It's the couples choice which route they choose for their wedding.
It's horrible. Growing up, I've missed seeing a couple of my siblings get married just because I was too young (and later because I left the church). It's become very important to me that loved ones aren't excluded from my own wedding because I remember how sad and heartbroken it made me to miss out on such an important day for my family members.
Brandi exactly. That is why I couldn't imagen doing that to my family and friends. Love is to be celebrating not excluding. Along with any other important life milestone. I would never have excluded any of my friends and family from the happiest day of my life. They all have been there in my life so it was their day too to rejoice with me
I do not understand how such a beautiful story of love can receive more critical comments than positive comments. We live in a world full of different cultures, sub-cultures, and beliefs. We fight for inclusion, we fight for rights, but we keep breaking each other because of different choices in life. More negative comments are just gonna fill this world with more hate. Spread love instead, and embrace positive love stories like this!
It's very interesting watching something like this as a Mormon. We catch a lot of flack for things that I would never hear someone insulting a muslim, jew or a hindi with, so it's actually really touching to see someone presenting something we hold really sacred with sensitivity and acceptance when you're just used to being mocked or made fun of online.
Elizabeth Condie do you know why the father wasn't going to be allowed to attend the wedding? That seemed really sad (and no offense, a little cultish) to me
I always hated it when my Mormon friends introduced me to other Mormons as a "non member" when I attended Mormon functions. What a disgusting term. I just thought it extremely rude and non inclusive. It always made me feel like an outsider and Mormons would only get to know me with the sole purpose of converting me to their religion.
Not allowing family to attend a wedding unless they convert to your religion is just so fucked up. I have NEVER heard of another branch of Christianity or even another religion that does not welcome you into their house of worship. That just raises so many red flags to me.
@@megankurtz6031 we do welcome anyone to our meeting houses but the temple is the lord's house a greatly sacred place and only people worthy are allowed to enter.
@@megankurtz6031 it’s a sacred ordinance. Just because your member doesn’t mean you can be there at the ordinance. You have to be of age, have to have gone through other ordinances to get to the sealing, and have to be called there by the family. Sorry but just because you’re family that doesn’t mean you can go in there. This is their sacred ordinance to God, not family.
Thank you so much for making a non-biased video on LDS weddings. It was clear, informative and enjoyable. :D You could see the joy in the couple's faces.

I know this video was made before the re-emphasis, but thought I’d mention that members of our church prefer the Nickname “Mormon” not be used to refer to us. The easiest way to say it is to call the church “The Church of Jesus Christ” and the members “Latter-day Saints”. Sorry, thanks ;P
My boyfriend is Mormon I’m catholic We have a baby and we are not married He stopped going to church cause he felt like he was being judge by the church left the church and became atheist I’m still catholic and he respects me for my belief and I don’t question why he won’t go to church I believe the only person that can judge us is god not the church
laresdanya ruiz please tell your boyfriend that mormons are just like regular people who sin everyday. They are not perfect people. Tell your boyfriend to his bishop. :) I'm a mormon.
Would you say that a Mormon marrying someone outside of their faith (maybe an atheist?) is discouraged? Or would leaving the church be an easier option?

What a beautiful couple with a beautiful story. Though I have to admit....this would be more realistic if it were two 22-year-olds who met six months before the wedding :)
If I want to be honest this “your parents and friends couldn’t attend to your wedding cause they are not moron” is not sacred it’s disrespectful to people who love and raise you and I don’t believe G-D ever guid or tell us to disrespect our parents. P.S: If interested, they explained it in comments.
Ida C : I think a large reason on why they don’t let non members into the temple is because some people wouldn’t respect it, and they actually call temples “the house of God” so it is very important to them. Also, when new temples are opening they have a “temple open-house” and anyone is allowed in whether they’re Mormon or not. I’ve been to two open houses and they really are beautiful and they give you a big tour and explain to you what happens in each room :) I hope this helped
Christina Schmidt thank you for your explanations. But there are odds in what you proposed. Your parents act “not acceptable” at your wedding? I don’t think so. I come from a big family with 4 different religious roots. When ever we attend to a Muslim or Christian part of family, we do respect their standards or beliefs, as s Mormon why you think ppl would not respect your beliefs in your wedding?
We very strongly believe in honoring our parents. It’s just we see the temple as an extremely sacred place and we want the people in to be living our gospel and understand the importance of our beliefs and the temple. We don’t want the temple to be a casual place it’s a place we see as highly important and we see this as a way to keep it that way. We don’t mean it to be disrespectful to nonmembers but it’s how we’re respectful to the temple:)
Ida C I definitely see where you’re coming from but they really don’t mean to disrespect their parents, I think if the church were to let some people in, others would not understand why not everyone in. What I meant was not saying that the parents would disrespect the temple but some people that are strongly against the Mormon church might. I think in their view it’s better to let just members in because they’re the ones that understand and agree with everything that goes on inside. I also know many couples that have a second ceremony so they don’t leave out the people who are not able to go into the temple. Some couples also get married outside of the temple and then get “sealed” later on inside the temple. Because in the Mormon religion the reason they get married in the temple is to get married for time and all eternity. I hope that makes more sense. One of the Church’s main commandment is to “honor thy father and thy mother” they would never mean to disrespect them :)
Christina Schmidt it sure makes away much more now that you describe it completely, I wish that they cover another wedding in which they could explain it the way you did. Thank you for your time and explanation
I’m an LDS Mormon and most of my extended family isn’t Mormon. I know lots of people who have the similar situation as me. They get sealed in the temple and will have a ring ceremony at the reception and have their bishop explain what a temple marriage is and why it’s important. I will do the same when I get married :)

This is probably one of the best videos as it goes into explaining the Temple in as much detail as possible! So much respect towards you guys because this was very unbiased and very well produced!!!
Wowowow! Thank you Refinery for this wonderful video! If people make videos about "Mormon" weddings, they're usually very judgmental and try to make it seem creepy and weird. This is very unbiased and shows the beauty behind our weddings. Thank you!

The "till death do us part" bit is actually in a passage about the friendship between Ruth and Naomi. After Naomi's son/Ruth's husband died, instead of returning to her family, Ruth decided she would stick by Naomi's side and so the western wedding vows are actually about a friendship and loyalty between a woman and her mother-in-law. "Do not press me to leave you or to turn back from following you! Where you go, I will go; where you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die, I will die- there will I be buried. May the Lord do thus and so to me, and more as well, if even death parts me from you!"
I am not a Christian or a Mormon person, I don't believe in Christian or Church but as long as you love each other that is more important. Just keep your faith and beliefs to yourself, don't force your religious beliefs onto anyone else who don't believe what you believe including me, because I am a non believe.
Here is a list of Mormon teachings Pray always, read the scriptures, go to church, love and serve your neighbour don't drink, don't smoke, be celibate before marriage, don't do drugs, be faithful to your spouse, don't watch open, be honest, obey the 10 commandments.
Me and my boyfriend are planning to get married and I told him how much I would love us to get married in the temple. We still have a lot to work on since I am a "jack-mormon" and my boyfriend and his family never practiced any religion so ... we'll see what happens. I'm lucky that he is open-minded enough to come to the fun events at least (FHE, Sports nights, etc) and learn little stuff along the way. It's nice to find something on here about mormonism that is not talking about how crazy we sound.
I don’t really understand why the Mormon church gets so much hate considering it is just a branch of Christianity and very similar in the teachings. I feel like many people believe so many odd things about Mormons that aren’t true, they’re really just the same as everyone else :)
this video skims over most things to seem unbiased. mormon temples are odd as you see here, her parents and friends and close family COULDNT ATTEND THE WEDDING , or even enter the temple area , because they're not mormon. It's sad how people that love you and support you cannot be a part of such a big part of your life because they dont follow what you do
*스* yes I do realize that many people aren’t able to attend but a lot of couples also do a second ceremony so that people who don’t aren’t able to enter the temple at that time can still see their wedding :) what happens in temples isn’t sworn to secrecy like this video makes it seem a bit, actually when new temples open they have a “temple open-house” and anyone who is interested can have a tour whether they’re a member or not, as the tour goes on they tell you what happens in each room. I have been to two open-houses they are beautiful buildings and they are extremely peaceful. I think a big part why the church doesn’t let non members in is because many people don’t agree with the religion and they may be afraid that some people will disrespect the temple, they call the temple “the house of God” so it is very important to them
I love this. I'm mormon and me and my jusband couldnt be any happier, unfortunately when we got married his oarents couldnt be in there because theyre Catholic but they understood how sacred and important our religion is to us.

“Nobody is allowed to see their kids or relatives get married, which is a big deal to us, unless they meet our standards and we consider them ‘good enough’.” That’s outright cruel, and inherently manipulative, imagine a parent telling you “you can’t see your brother’s wedding because you don’t act and think just like he and I both do.”

@@kathybrycefam When Lucifer appears in the Mormon temple ceremony he is wearing an apron. When Adam asks him about it Lucifer boldly replies: “It is an emblem of my power and Priesthoods”. So, there is no ambiguity here-the apron has nothing to do with God; it is an emblem of Satan’s power and priesthoods. A few minutes later, when they hear God coming, Lucifer tells Adam and Eve to make themselves aprons and hide . * Adam replies, “Come, let us hide,” and at that point in the ceremony everyone is told to put on their aprons. And they do. So, for the rest of the ritual, on top of their temple undergarments with the masonic-type markings, and on top of their white temple clothes, temple patrons wear a dark green apron-in obedience to Lucifer and symbolizing his power and priesthoods. This stands in stark contrast to what happens in the Bible: God removes the fig-leaf coverings that Adam and Eve make and replaces them with animal skins He provides. This foreshadows and represents the covering for sins provided by Jesus when he was slain on the cross as the Lamb of God (see John 1:29; Hebrews 9:22). Will We Listen to Lucifer or Jesus? Lucifer says, “Make you aprons.” In effect, do some of it yourself-it’s the only way to preserve some semblance of pride, dignity, and self-respect, and to gain for yourself what you need. That is quite consistent with the instructions every Latter-day Saint is given before going through the temple endowment ceremony. Your Endowment is, to receive all those ordinances in the House of the Lord, which are necessary for you, to enable you to walk back to the presence of the Father, passing the angels who stand as sentinels, being enabled to give them the key words, the signs and the tokens, pertaining to the Holy Priesthood, and thus gain your eternal exaltation. Jesus said, “It is finished” (John 19:30). In effect, “I’ve done it for you, all of it. Now are you willing to humble yourself enough to simply take it?” As long as you are trying to contribute anything of your own to merit God’s provision of eternal life in His presence, you are rejecting the gift of Jesus Christ’s finished work on your behalf. Jesus said: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28). (Nowhere in the Scriptures does Jesus say anything about an apron…or grips…or signs and tokens.) You can trust Jesus. mit.irr.org/lds-temple-and-lucifers-power-and-priesthood
I have a friend whose daughter was sealed in marriage at a Mormon temple. The non-Mormon family & friends felt like they missed out on the wedding. Does anyone know if there are issues to having a separate non-religious ceremony outside of the temple after the sealing so that friends & family can attend?
If you want to see what actually happens in the temple, just look up NewNameNoah. His channel has tons of behind the doors footage. I was Mormon until 23. I've been free from this cult for two years and am now the happiest I've ever been. Feel free to contact me.
Elizabeth Ivonne hi Elizabeth, if you go into lds.org (or I can help get you set up) you can let missionaries know that you're interested in the lessons and they'll meet you anywhere you would like and teach you the lessons 😊
So well done! As a Mormon I was a little hesitant to watch this, but I'm very impressed by how well the Church was represented. Some may think the "requirements" to enter the temple may seem strange or old fashioned. But I have a testimony that it's a lifestyle that helps prepare us for living a covenant keeping life. #Mormon
ce collie oh, so it’s not cruel to excommunicate people who leave the religion and shun them from their families and friends? Not cruel to teach girls that their purpose in life is to be a wife/mother and to treat them as less than the males? To send homosexuals to camps that tell them they have a mental illness that can be cured? Their history of racism which ended fairly recently wasn’t cruel? Not cruel to go around spreading lies and stories conjured up by a known charlatan as fact and get money from it? (Notable to mention that part is what most religions have in common though) If you say so hun. Keep living your life in denial if that makes you happy. Yes sure, those sound like great “standards” that anyone should want to follow.

Wait I'm confused. Do they have to wear those under garments all the time leading up to their wedding or all the time before and after the wedding under their clothes?
The garments actually have less to do with marriage than they do with endowments. An endowment is another temple ceremony in which God endows knowledge and blessings upon the participants. After your endowment, you must wear the garments. In order to be married in the temple, you must have received this endowment. You must also receive it before serving a Mormon mission. LDS.org can give you more information than I can. Hope that answered your question!
Its not complicated. Everyone is dressed in white. The full temple dress does include include elements that are not talked about as they are considered sacred, but they all have special meanings to those who wear them. Yes, you can go online and find pictures, but they fail to convey the meanings and feelings connected to their use. The wedding itself is not long, and is fairly simple but beautiful. The couple, and those attending are in a beautiful room with mirrors that reflect back upon each other creating a never ending and repeating image, reflecting the nature of eternity going on and on and on. The bride and groom kneel on opposite sides of an altar and hold hands while the marriage ceremony is performed. They are sealed, for time and all eternity, and blessings are placed on their marriage, children to come, and promises for the life to come if thy are faithful to their promises to each other and to God -- If you are curious about the temple and its importance to latter day saints...visit one. They have visitors centers that will answer questions and share pictures and videos. Also....keep an eye out for open houses. When a temple is built, remodeled or refreshed, they are open to the public for tours before being dedicated. Of course you will find a lot of information here online as well....both truthful and slanderous. Here is a good link: www.churchofjesuschrist.org/temples/inside-temples?lang=eng -- I hope this is helpful, and wish you well.
I’ve always been curious what the inside of this temple looks like. It’s gorgeous from the outside! I guess I’ll never know what the inside looks like...
Here's a video where two leaders of our church take a tour through the Rome, Italy Temple. You won't see the actual ceremony, because the ceremonies are very sacred to us, but you can see the inside! It's gorgeous ua-cam.com/video/dhWgPwEQQ98/v-deo.html
Tiffany Huynh the temple is a holy place and only people who have made the covenants can enter. Of course they can come to the temple grounds but not in the actual ceremony inside. It’s very scared
I am so in love with this video. When i first saw the caption I immediately became super nervous about how the church would be looked at,however, this video was perfect. Thank you for making an unbiased and a positive video. It was simple straight to the point and classy. @Refinery29 you won me over.
Krystal Rodriguez I'll bet you were nervous! "Oh no, is this video going to reveal our secrets?" Nope, it doesn't, but New Name Noah does! Mormons are such liars.
My friend is the ever so many great grandson of Joseph Smith and I remember someone from the church trying to get him to go to the church. It was a long convo that they had. Which my friend declined, but it's funny to drive by a temple that is literally part of his lineage.
"Ritual" isn't the accurate term A Temple sealing/marriage is the most Sacred Ordinance Like Baptism is a Sacred Ordinance And Partaking of the Sacrament is a Sacred Ordinance
Main thing that makes it look so pretty is the color imo. When you imagine it in a conventional exterior color, it looks the same architecturally as many other religious/historic buildings. It’s just the color that makes it have a majestic look. That being said, looks like it could save them on energy,...I’m sure whatever they save on energy is spent on maintenance keeping it so pristinely clean though.
Jen Tuesday that's why they need people to tithe....to keep building amazingly expensive real state and proselytizing. The majority of the money goes towards growing their religion, not to help the needy like they make it seem
@@prg4647 yes but, it is an organization that usally gets there quickly, when there are events that occur it doesn't require fundraising first, and guns are already set aside to help.
just wanted to inform everyone that it's extremely uncommon (nearly unheard of) to see an LDS couple get married in their mid-thirties... i grew up in a community that was heavily populated with Latter Day Saints and I have never seen someone stay single past the age of 23.
Meanwhile, I’ve only known two LDS couples where at least one was under 23 when they got married; one was annulled weeks later. Most have been mid to late 20s with 2 couples where at least one was in their early to mid 30s. (One of the couples was mid 30s and 40+.) It’s not as uncommon as you think.
I am from India, I am Hindu, I use to see LDS church building in my city of Chennai for past many years. It looks like deserted building, every time when I wait for city bus outside that building , I am eager to know what was inside that building. But one day when I watched closely it was written as Church of Jesus Christ Later Day Saints. Then I asked some christian friends about this Church but they gave negative comments about this Church, they even said it was Satanic. But one of my colleague who faced some down in her life and career use to visit this Church and it bought changes in her career and personal life. Now she was blessed with good job and got settled on Bangalore. After seeing changes in her life, I decidec to visit this Church. Infact I was little bit scared when I got inside that building. But one of the brother inside church take me to president named Edison. He was kind enough and had good conversation with me and asked about me. Then he asked me reason for visiting Church. I replied , I am 40 years old and remained Un married also problems about my current job. I said him that I visited many temples and done many poojas but not getting suitable partner or job, I said I got frustrated. First he asked me to thank the god that I am currently worshiping for giving me the life I am living. Then he prayed for me for my marriage, and thought me how to pray to Father in heaven in future. And the miracle happened in the immediate next week. I got alliance fixed and got married in October 2018. I would say LDS is true church of Jesus Christ ❤️❤️❤️
this video glazed over the bizarre and cult like regimes of the temple process- which is understandable when trying to report without bias. BUT if you're interested in what ACTUALLY happens in these temple rituals, you can find videos by NewNameNoah from *inside* actual ceremonies, which will show you the honest happenings rather than a vague description. or even better, read the CES letter. -an ex mormon
Hanna Van Fleet So are you delighted disrespecting the building Mormons considered a Holy place? If you find it amusing, go ahead and continue what your good at. Just think of what is Jesus' opinion how the way you act and say about other people. Go on girl! You rock!
Helena SG I really like the look of LDS temples too :) if you find yourself passing by one (they're all over) then you're more than welcome to walk on the grounds. They usually have lots of flowers and are really pretty :)
Hi, like many commenters I'm also Mormon. I've seen a lot of emphasis in society on respecting cultures and people who are different from you in general. As an example of what I mean, things like understanding that ISIS is NOT synonymous with Muslim. I love this view, because honestly we're all people in a world just trying to make a life for ourselves, and we don't need to hate each other based off of simply not sharing the same beliefs or fearing something just because it's so foreign to us. I think this is the first video I'm seen that extended that courtesy to the LDS church, and I'm really grateful for the unbiased and educational approach of this video :)
Clorox Bleach pray tell how would you pay for construction and maintenace of chapels and temples, how would you provide for people in need, Mormons and non Mormons alike? How would you pay for youth programs and services? How would you support a massive charitable effort that spans the globe? Pay for literature and training materials? Etc etc.
Clorox Bleach they CHOOSE to pay the income. They are not forced to pay. It is a feeling of wanting to pay. It helps to build buildings around them, help 3rd world countries, and many more things.
Clorox Bleach well... To enter the temple, you should pay tithing. But we believe that so many blessings come from God, because we pay tithing (10%). I understand that it seems like a huge commitment, but we believe that many blessings come with it.
Clorox Bleach You have to understand that the leaders of the church and the church itself doesn’t ask for tithing as a way to make money and live like kings, it is to provide churches, temples, services, and charity for the members and those outside the religion as well. Take the prophet of the LDS church, he lives a modest life in an apartment building in Salt Lake City. The Pope lives in a palace in the Vatican. So if you believe that the church is asking for money simply so those in charge can benefit, than that is simply not true.
once they thought a relationship could actually work, they dated and fell in love. trust me, you don’t just get married to someone for time and all eternity just for the sake of it.
Chloe Hoyer um.... no. when you know who you’re suppose to end up with, you just know, no matter how long you’ve been dating. it happens for everyone, not just mormons... khloé kardashian got married to her (now) ex husband after a month of knowing him. their are so many mormons who date for years before getting married. don’t stereotype, please.
What type of wedding would you like to see on World Wide Wed? Comment below :)
Pakistani- Muslim wedding!!
Afghan wedding!! :)
Nigerian
Refinery29 an Asian wedding, perhaps
Vietnamese wedding!
I don’t think we’re more fertile, it’s just that the church focuses a lot on the goal of having children more than the average people.
Claire Gearhart In demographic science, the word "fertile" as nothing to do with the ability to have children in a biological point of view, it actually refers to the average number of children a woman has. It is strictly statistics.
+clairegearhart I believe that was a statistic based comment. Thanks for your feedback! :)
Imon No, as someone already said, “fertility” is being used as a statistical term. It means women who actually have children, not if they can actually have kids or not.
I think that it's easier to have children when you live healthy and not smoke or drink
Exactly, they are baby factories
I live near the San Diego temple, it’s next to the freeway so we drive by it all the time.... my little sister thinks it’s where the Disney princesses live.
That is the sweetest thing I've heard.
@Travis why are you making fun of someone's religion that's messed up man
@Travis I'm a Mormon and have been to the temple and it's peaceful and makes you feel safe and we do interesting things that don't always make sense but it's just what we do Amish people banish anyone who dosent believe in that religion anymore.

My friend committed suicide because of the pressures from the Mormon religion.
@@cristaferrari-girault732Only members may go inside a House of the Lord, a temple, but we typically have a reception afterwards with nonmembers!
@@cristaferrari-girault732 Our weddings only happen in a temple. Nonmembers can go to gatherings outside of the temple.
Japanese shinto wedding would be cool
Yes. Love that idea
Ditto!! And traditional Muslim wedding too!
That would be pretty cool
I was going to suggest the same thing!😃 Great minds think alike!😁
@@redrose1806 hey so there’s no such thing as a typical Muslim wedding. Most Muslim countries share some similarities proper to Islam, but weddings in Muslim families differ according to their nationalities ! Ie a Saudi wedding would be completely different than a Moroccan one
I cried at the dad doing everything he did so he could see his babygirl get married.

Tacky, too.
They did a video abt it! It was really cool

Many other faiths also use tangible reminders of their beliefs
A devoted Jewish man I know wears a yarmulke and philacteries, a Muslim coworker wears a headscarf , nuns wear habits, Buddhist monks wear saffron robes etc.
How do they know you made wearing the garments though?
@@Elizabeth-eb9il this isn't a cult, we're not going to have people coming in and checking to see if you follow through with what you are saying. This is a decision that adults have to make themselves and there are many people that do to sensory problems mental health concerns or for other reasons choose not to and that's between them and the Lord they're the people who make the promises with God we each have to make an individual choice of how we want to live our lives in a way that is the most loving and productive. ❤️

+caim Thanks for sharing!
As a gay person I can easily speak badly about the church. Sure they’re good people, but we can’t ignore lgbt suicide rates in Utah.
I’m not religious at all but I respect people who are. The wedding sounded gorgeous but I could never have a wedding like that. Each to their own
Cai M But there is always a bad side to religion.
It’s honestly not that much. And it is used for really good purposes.
We have to pay church taxes here in Austria as well (catholic). It's an odd idea, isn't it?
Jane G Than You.

+heyybrey So glad that you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
Katie Bug and now you can become sealed right after the wedding, you don’t have to wait anymore! :)

I couldn't imagine being married in a religion that wouldn't allow certain people.
Sedona Sanders like what I'm trans and Mormon
They all have been there in my life so it was their day too to rejoice with me
yes I love this unbiased view of marriage from different cultures and religions!
+sidneynelson Glad you liked! :)
Sidney Nelson it's a little biased in favor of the Mormon church
@Hannah Spencer I don’t think so. It seems pretty educational rather than biased. Not in favor or against, only explaining things.
I would love to see an arabic or islam wedding 💖💖
Issra Ben Mansour yes!!
Are you muslim to ?
Issra Ben Mansour I am
They do a Mormon wedding, but not an Islamic or Arabic wedding. These people...
The Asian Persuasion 54' yes that's what I thought to
I do not understand how such a beautiful story of love can receive more critical comments than positive comments. We live in a world full of different cultures, sub-cultures, and beliefs. We fight for inclusion, we fight for rights, but we keep breaking each other because of different choices in life. More negative comments are just gonna fill this world with more hate. Spread love instead, and embrace positive love stories like this!
This is so awesome and well worded. Thank you! Being married in the Temple is so special. And I am so happy you shared this!
+sagebiggs Thanks YOU for watching!! :)
I’m so grateful that this is a positive but rather unbiased display of what our religion is all about. Thank you!
Elizabeth Condie isn't it a sect rather than a religion?
TheHashSlingingSlasher its a religion:)
Sassy Jensen nope a sect
Sassy Jensen you are indoctrinated and you loose yout personality....
Sorry it’s how we let other members know that we want you there more so to be extra nice 😂 we should be more discrete about it though
This part. I agree!
I grew up Mormon, but I left because Im gay and I plan on marrying the love of my life, who is a beautiful woman.

My boyfriend is Mormon I’m catholic
We have a baby and we are not married
He stopped going to church cause he felt like he was being judge by the church left the church and became atheist I’m still catholic and he respects me for my belief and I don’t question why he won’t go to church
I believe the only person that can judge us is god not the church
laresdanya ruiz please tell your boyfriend that mormons are just like regular people who sin everyday. They are not perfect people. Tell your boyfriend to his bishop. :)
I'm a mormon.
Would you say that a Mormon marrying someone outside of their faith (maybe an atheist?) is discouraged? Or would leaving the church be an easier option?

What a beautiful couple with a beautiful story. Though I have to admit....this would be more realistic if it were two 22-year-olds who met six months before the wedding :)
seriously though 😂
True but I appreciate they didn’t follow a stereotype that sometimes gives Mormons a bad rap😅
More like a 22 yr old dude who just got back from his mission and a little girl who has just barely graduated high school
Mandy Rickett Amen to that!
Noy true. My husband and I married in our early 30's

The Bible saids nothing about having an eternal family, it talks about our eternal life with Christ
emily schwellenbach it talks about it in the Book of Mormon.
Amen Emily...The Bible
but it does say "what is bound on earth shall be bound in heaven" and not "'til death do us part"
Matthew 16:18-19, Matthew 19:3-8 are Bible scriptures declaring marriage eternal and everlasting
Here is a list of Mormon teachings
Pray always, read the scriptures, go to church, love and serve your neighbour don't drink, don't smoke, be celibate before marriage, don't do drugs, be faithful to your spouse, don't watch open, be honest, obey the 10 commandments.
This was wonderful!!! I saw this while planning a wedding. This made me so excited to go through the temple with my son and new daughter in law.
Beautiful
Me and my boyfriend are planning to get married and I told him how much I would love us to get married in the temple. We still have a lot to work on since I am a "jack-mormon" and my boyfriend and his family never practiced any religion so ... we'll see what happens. I'm lucky that he is open-minded enough to come to the fun events at least (FHE, Sports nights, etc) and learn little stuff along the way. It's nice to find something on here about mormonism that is not talking about how crazy we sound.
Thank you for actually portraying this with respect!
As a member, thank you for making this! It shows the real beauty of the temple !
I love her dress! I'm not Mormon, but I get it and respect it!
I love this video! Well made, respectful, and informative.
I don’t really understand why the Mormon church gets so much hate considering it is just a branch of Christianity and very similar in the teachings. I feel like many people believe so many odd things about Mormons that aren’t true, they’re really just the same as everyone else :)
many churches have sacred rituals and I don't see anything wrong with them at all
Oh and also I don’t want to seem like I’m hating on this video at all, it’s very unbiased and easy to understand :))
this video skims over most things to seem unbiased. mormon temples are odd as you see here, her parents and friends and close family COULDNT ATTEND THE WEDDING , or even enter the temple area , because they're not mormon. It's sad how people that love you and support you cannot be a part of such a big part of your life because they dont follow what you do
*스* it’s not that they’re not allowed, everyone that wants to be member and live righteously can attend the temple. It’s a choice 😇
+viridianacalderon Thanks for sharing! :)

Ethiopian wedding!!!
“Nobody is allowed to see their kids or relatives get married, which is a big deal to us, unless they meet our standards and we consider them ‘good enough’.”
That’s outright cruel, and inherently manipulative, imagine a parent telling you “you can’t see your brother’s wedding because you don’t act and think just like he and I both do.”
Is it just me or are these videos getting shorter and shorter?
I think this one is particularly short because you can't see what goes on during the actual wedding so it's just the before & after
What a beautiful day for them and their families.
I liked this video because it was very respectful. :)
This is lovely. I believe in a lot of their principles.
I'm so grateful for this video, mormons are so often portrayed as scary and bad but this is such a great unbiased video.
Are people, who are curious about the faith and the structure of their church, unable to visit and go into the church unless their a member?
This answers your question batter than I could!

*
Adam replies, “Come, let us hide,” and at that point in the ceremony everyone is told to put on their aprons.
Now are you willing to humble yourself enough to simply take it?”
As long as you are trying to contribute anything of your own to merit God’s provision of eternal life in His presence, you are rejecting the gift of Jesus Christ’s finished work on your behalf.
Jesus said: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28). (Nowhere in the Scriptures does Jesus say anything about an apron…or grips…or signs and tokens.) You can trust Jesus.

Everything about this is sooooo pretty
I have a friend whose daughter was sealed in marriage at a Mormon temple. The non-Mormon family & friends felt like they missed out on the wedding. Does anyone know if there are issues to having a separate non-religious ceremony outside of the temple after the sealing so that friends & family can attend?
I've been to many "ring ceremonies" outside of the temple for non-LDS family and and friends of the bride and groom.
If you want to see what actually happens in the temple, just look up NewNameNoah. His channel has tons of behind the doors footage. I was Mormon until 23. I've been free from this cult for two years and am now the happiest I've ever been. Feel free to contact me.
I Haley I’m actually very curious as to info about being LDS how can I contact you?
Elizabeth Ivonne hi Elisabeth, if you want to ask someone that’s an active LDS member, just ask 😊
Elizabeth Ivonne hi Elizabeth, if you go into lds.org (or I can help get you set up) you can let missionaries know that you're interested in the lessons and they'll meet you anywhere you would like and teach you the lessons 😊
Elizabeth Ivonne you can email me at heg667@lindenwood.edu
Or peoples opinions ?
So well done! As a Mormon I was a little hesitant to watch this, but I'm very impressed by how well the Church was represented. Some may think the "requirements" to enter the temple may seem strange or old fashioned. But I have a testimony that it's a lifestyle that helps prepare us for living a covenant keeping life. #Mormon
Tiani Whitman if by well represented you mean in your favor and ignoring all the manipulative and downright cruel aspects....then sure....
ce collie oh, so it’s not cruel to excommunicate people who leave the religion and shun them from their families and friends? Not cruel to teach girls that their purpose in life is to be a wife/mother and to treat them as less than the males? To send homosexuals to camps that tell them they have a mental illness that can be cured? Their history of racism which ended fairly recently wasn’t cruel? Not cruel to go around spreading lies and stories conjured up by a known charlatan as fact and get money from it? (Notable to mention that part is what most religions have in common though) If you say so hun. Keep living your life in denial if that makes you happy. Yes sure, those sound like great “standards” that anyone should want to follow.

Hey that's my religion!!!
Wait I'm confused. Do they have to wear those under garments all the time leading up to their wedding or all the time before and after the wedding under their clothes?
All the time, but only after you've been either married or had your endowments. :)
You can find a lot of pictures and explanation about what is inside the temples on lds.org :)
Christina Schmidt Really? Including the temple outfits, i.e. the hats, bonnets, aprons, & sashes? I highly doubt that.
It's gorgeous

That magnificent temple... pays no taxes. Let that sink in for a moment.
As any other church. 🙄
Thank you so much for these great informational videos! I love them!
+kirstenclaire Thanks for tuning in!
A religion that praises itself on upholding family values and traditions excluding family members from weddings. Kind of disgusting. No thanks
Tiffany Huynh the temple is a holy place and only people who have made the covenants can enter. Of course they can come to the temple grounds but not in the actual ceremony inside. It’s very scared
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻💯
I am so in love with this video. When i first saw the caption I immediately became super nervous about how the church would be looked at,however, this video was perfect. Thank you for making an unbiased and a positive video. It was simple straight to the point and classy. @Refinery29 you won me over.
+krystalrodriquez So glad that you enjoyed! :)
Krystal Rodriguez I'll bet you were nervous! "Oh no, is this video going to reveal our secrets?"
Nope, it doesn't, but New Name Noah does! Mormons are such liars.
Thank you for the respect Refinery29!! I appreciate it! 😊
+madeleineeliason You are very welcome! Glad you liked it! :)
My friend is the ever so many great grandson of Joseph Smith and I remember someone from the church trying to get him to go to the church. It was a long convo that they had. Which my friend declined, but it's funny to drive by a temple that is literally part of his lineage.
"Ritual" isn't the accurate term
A Temple sealing/marriage is the most
Sacred Ordinance
Like Baptism is a Sacred Ordinance
And
Partaking of the Sacrament is a Sacred Ordinance
It's all so.. soft and ethereal. So heavenly.
OMG i drive past that church everyday its gorgeous!
RJ Uriarte that’s so nice! That’s not our church though it’s our temple:)
RJ Uriarte just so you know you're more than welcome to walk around the grounds. They're open to the public and very well maintained :)
@@prg4647 yes but, it is an organization that usally gets there quickly, when there are events that occur it doesn't require fundraising first, and guns are already set aside to help.
I’m mormon do I have to get married in the actual church building? Because I’ve always wanted to get married outside
Nicely done however I would question ANY religion that mandates any %of my salary. 🤔
Such a beautiful & heartwarming story...
Love refinery29!!!!!!!!!
+lolalangan
just wanted to inform everyone that it's extremely uncommon (nearly unheard of) to see an LDS couple get married in their mid-thirties... i grew up in a community that was heavily populated with Latter Day Saints and I have never seen someone stay single past the age of 23.
10% of your salary 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
yep just like in the bible ^_^
God gave us so much, don't you understand that?
Pretty sure you don't have to actually pay that to get married.
You might want to read the parable of the rich man and the beggar Lazarus.
its a business! 🤣🤣🤣I was raised in this cult lol.
This is do awesome and nice to see the process
I would say LDS is true church of Jesus Christ ❤️❤️❤️
great journalism! Thank you!
this video glazed over the bizarre and cult like regimes of the temple process- which is understandable when trying to report without bias. BUT if you're interested in what ACTUALLY happens in these temple rituals, you can find videos by NewNameNoah from *inside* actual ceremonies, which will show you the honest happenings rather than a vague description.
or even better, read the CES letter.

Hanna Van Fleet you go girl!
Hanna Van Fleet So are you delighted disrespecting the building Mormons considered a Holy place? If you find it amusing, go ahead and continue what your good at. Just think of what is Jesus' opinion how the way you act and say about other people. Go on girl! You rock!
Jerwin Joguilon he dead. Don't matter.
Haley Green Ok cool. 😂
Jerwin Joguilon the buildings are cool. what goes on in there is strange. opinion
I love this wedding video!! Yay!
Wow I just clicked because 5he building looked fake because it is soo beautiful 😍😍
I drive past it every day when I go to work
It's real!!
It's kind of like a big funeral home.
I really appreciated this kind and fair view of the church.
When you have more children that does not mean you are “MORE” fertile. That means you decide to have more children than others.
This was really nice!
10% of their income...ok...
It helps to build buildings around them, help 3rd world countries, and many more things.
help im really tired they HAVE to pay if they want to join... and they’re not helping anyone but themselves
Great video!
They married after being friends? Were they even in love?
Thats exactly my thoughts.
once they thought a relationship could actually work, they dated and fell in love. trust me, you don’t just get married to someone for time and all eternity just for the sake of it.
If you're not best friends before falling in love what's the point?? 😂
GRAVITY usually Mormons get married after a couple weeks of meeting each other. They barely even know each other
Chloe Hoyer um.... no. when you know who you’re suppose to end up with, you just know, no matter how long you’ve been dating. it happens for everyone, not just mormons... khloé kardashian got married to her (now) ex husband after a month of knowing him. their are so many mormons who date for years before getting married. don’t stereotype, please.
This is do well done. Thanks you!
