Thank you for showing a series of wedding from different religions without being biased or rude about any of them. As a member of the LDS Church myself, I found it very comforting and relieving to see journalism that did not mock, ridicule or belittle my religion and our beliefs. I hope others can learn from your example.

Jesus Christ is God incarnate who came to earth to be born and live a perfect life, a sinless life. (He is one person of the Trinity, consisting of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; one God in three persons not three Gods.) Jesus then gave Himself up to be crucified and died to pay for the sins of the whole world. My sin, your sin, the sins of everybody. 3 days later He was resurrected. He now offers salvation to all who will turn from their sin and trust Him to save them from eternity in hell. He paid our debts because we couldn't, but we have to trust Him to do it. I cannot add anything to what He has done (not even baptism). I cannot do enough good to take even a year off of my death sentence in hell. The sentence is a never ending one, because I have sinned against an eternal God. But Jesus took my punishment, He saved me, and offers that same salvation to you. I am praying for you.

I've seen a lot of comments and questions about family and friends not being able to attend if they aren't members, so I'd like to try and clear it up as much as I can. The family and friends can come to the wedding, they just can't go inside the Temple and attend the ceremony. Same goes for members who just have not had their endowments or been married, they can't go into the ceremony. But another option is you can have a civil wedding so all your family and friends can be there and then you can be sealed/married in the Temple about a year later. Hopefully that clears some things up! :)

Clarification: Not ALL adults wear garments. Only after members have gone through the temple and made certain promises. And you're supposed to maintain temple worthiness by living certain standards while wearing the garments in order to re-enter the temple.

    • @esmeraldagreen1992
      @esmeraldagreen1992 5 років тому +6

Garments are not magical , they are a tangible reminder of the premises one made to God at baptism and when participating in temple ordinances. Mainly to live a Christian life, to put Jesus at the center of our live, to dedicate ourselves to serve him and only him to live pure lives. There are biblical precedents to garments.
If you are familiar with the books of Exodus, God instructs Moses to clothe Aaron and his descendants in linen breeches and a shift so that they may not appear "naked" before the Lord.
Many other faiths also use tangible reminders of their beliefs
A devoted Jewish man I know wears a yarmulke and philacteries, a Muslim coworker wears a headscarf , nuns wear habits, Buddhist monks wear saffron robes etc.

I may not believe them anymore but I do think they're beautiful things that make beautiful people. My family are still very active in the church and they're wonderful people who just try their best to do what they think is right and are very chill about it. The thing I appreciate most about Mormons is their emphasis on family! Jane G, the 10% we donate is a tithe, such as referenced in the Old Testament of the Bible, and it goes to various branches for administrative, charitable, and educational uses. I'm Mormon, when my husband and I married since no one in our families were Mormon, we had a ring ceremony in our church building followed by a reception in a local banquet hall. We were sealed in the temple later on , Many Mormon friends joined us during our sealing ceremony. A sealing is a very simple ceremony, there is no exchange of ring or photography.. If you Google pictures of temples you will see pictures of sealing rooms these were taken when the temple was built or after a major remodeling. At the center of a sealing room is an altar the bride and the groom kneel at opposite sides while they exchange vows. Another feature of a sealing room is two mirrors installed so that one mirror faces the other creating endless reflections , this symbolizes the eternal nature of marriage. There are also chairs for the officiant, witnesses and guests who are permitted into the temple.

Is it still possible for one person of the couple to not be a member of LDS? If one of the couple isn't Mormon, is it impossible to go through a temple sealing? Is it discouraged to marry outside of the faith?

I do not understand how such a beautiful story of love can receive more critical comments than positive comments. We live in a world full of different cultures, sub-cultures, and beliefs. We fight for inclusion, we fight for rights, but we keep breaking each other because of different choices in life. More negative comments are just gonna fill this world with more hate. Spread love instead, and embrace positive love stories like this!

I know not all the people that were at my wedding we're not of the same religion and I couldn't imagen telling someone they couldn't come because we didn't share the same faith. Just a own personal opinion. To each his own but I'm very welcoming to others and I mean no matter religion I think all should be welcome in a celebration that is love. It's a common ground everyone shares. But from watching this and seeing the bride's own father would be unable to go because he drank just kinda hurt. I'm not a parent but I couldn't imagen turning away someone that brought me into this world. I guess it's just a difference of values.

It's horrible. Growing up, I've missed seeing a couple of my siblings get married just because I was too young (and later because I left the church). It's become very important to me that loved ones aren't excluded from my own wedding because I remember how sad and heartbroken it made me to miss out on such an important day for my family members.

To send homosexuals to camps that tell them they have a mental illness that can be cured? Their history of racism which ended fairly recently wasn’t cruel? Not cruel to go around spreading lies and stories conjured up by a known charlatan as fact and get money from it? (Notable to mention that part is what most religions have in common though) If you say so hun. Keep living your life in denial if that makes you happy. Yes sure, those sound like great “standards” that anyone should want to follow.

I am from India, I am Hindu, I use to see LDS church building in my city of Chennai for past many years.
It looks like deserted building, every time when I wait for city bus outside that building , I am eager to know what was inside that building.
But one day when I watched closely it was written as Church of Jesus Christ Later Day Saints.
Then I asked some christian friends about this Church but they gave negative comments about this Church, they even said it was Satanic.
But one of my colleague who faced some down in her life and career use to visit this Church and it bought changes in her career and personal life. Now she was blessed with good job and got settled on Bangalore.
After seeing changes in her life, I decidec to visit this Church.
Infact I was little bit scared when I got inside that building.
But one of the brother inside church take me to president named Edison.
He was kind enough and had good conversation with me and asked about me.
Then he asked me reason for visiting Church.
I replied , I am 40 years old and remained Un married also problems about my current job. I said him that I visited many temples and done many poojas but not getting suitable partner or job, I said I got frustrated.
First he asked me to thank the god that I am currently worshiping for giving me the life I am living.
Then he prayed for me for my marriage, and thought me how to pray to Father in heaven in future.
And the miracle happened in the immediate next week. I got alliance fixed and got married in October 2018.
I would say LDS is true church of Jesus Christ ❤️❤️❤️

Its not complicated. Everyone is dressed in white. The full temple dress does include include elements that are not talked about as they are considered sacred, but they all have special meanings to those who wear them. Yes, you can go online and find pictures, but they fail to convey the meanings and feelings connected to their use. The wedding itself is not long, and is fairly simple but beautiful. The couple, and those attending are in a beautiful room with mirrors that reflect back upon each other creating a never ending and repeating image, reflecting the nature of eternity going on and on and on. The bride and groom kneel on opposite sides of an altar and hold hands while the marriage ceremony is performed. They are sealed, for time and all eternity, and blessings are placed on their marriage, children to come, and promises for the life to come if thy are faithful to their promises to each other and to God -- If you are curious about the temple and its importance to latter day saints...visit one. They have visitors centers that will answer questions and share pictures and videos. Also....keep an eye out for open houses. When a temple is built, remodeled or refreshed, they are open to the public for tours before being dedicated. Of course you will find a lot of information here online as well....both truthful and slanderous. Here is a good link: www.churchofjesuschrist.org/temples/inside-temples?lang=eng -- I hope this is helpful, and wish you well.

Ida C : I think a large reason on why they don’t let non members into the temple is because some people wouldn’t respect it, and they actually call temples “the house of God” so it is very important to them. Also, when new temples are opening they have a “temple open-house” and anyone is allowed in whether they’re Mormon or not. I’ve been to two open houses and they really are beautiful and they give you a big tour and explain to you what happens in each room :) I hope this helped

Christina Schmidt thank you for your explanations. But there are odds in what you proposed. Your parents act “not acceptable” at your wedding? I don’t think so. I come from a big family with 4 different religious roots. When ever we attend to a Muslim or Christian part of family, we do respect their standards or beliefs, as s Mormon why you think ppl would not respect your beliefs in your wedding?

    • @paperplate9301

We very strongly believe in honoring our parents. It’s just we see the temple as an extremely sacred place and we want the people in to be living our gospel and understand the importance of our beliefs and the temple. We don’t want the temple to be a casual place it’s a place we see as highly important and we see this as a way to keep it that way. We don’t mean it to be disrespectful to nonmembers but it’s how we’re respectful to the temple:)

    • @christinaschmidt1352
      @christinaschmidt1352 6 років тому +6

Ida C I definitely see where you’re coming from but they really don’t mean to disrespect their parents, I think if the church were to let some people in, others would not understand why not everyone in. What I meant was not saying that the parents would disrespect the temple but some people that are strongly against the Mormon church might. I think in their view it’s better to let just members in because they’re the ones that understand and agree with everything that goes on inside. I also know many couples that have a second ceremony so they don’t leave out the people who are not able to go into the temple. Some couples also get married outside of the temple and then get “sealed” later on inside the temple. Because in the Mormon religion the reason they get married in the temple is to get married for time and all eternity. I hope that makes more sense. One of the Church’s main commandment is to “honor thy father and thy mother” they would never mean to disrespect them :)

It’s just the color that makes it have a majestic look. That being said, looks like it could save them on energy,...I’m sure whatever they save on energy is spent on maintenance keeping it so pristinely clean though.

Maybe think of it this way, an operating room in a hospital isn't open to anyone, only those who meet requirements to be in there for the purpose which that room is intended.
Or a clean laboratory room, certain requirements must be met to go into these places, because they are for a specific purpose
There are open houses to the general public for the Temples before they are dedicated by Priesthood authority for sacred ordinances

The "till death do us part" bit is actually in a passage about the friendship between Ruth and Naomi. After Naomi's son/Ruth's husband died, instead of returning to her family, Ruth decided she would stick by Naomi's side and so the western wedding vows are actually about a friendship and loyalty between a woman and her mother-in-law. "Do not press me to leave you or to turn back from following you! Where you go, I will go; where you lodge, I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die, I will die- there will I be buried. May the Lord do thus and so to me, and more as well, if even death parts me from you!"

@@kathybrycefam When Lucifer appears in the Mormon temple ceremony he is wearing an apron. When Adam asks him about it Lucifer boldly replies: “It is an emblem of my power and Priesthoods”. So, there is no ambiguity here-the apron has nothing to do with God; it is an emblem of Satan’s power and priesthoods. A few minutes later, when they hear God coming, Lucifer tells Adam and Eve to make themselves aprons and hide .
      *
Adam replies, “Come, let us hide,” and at that point in the ceremony everyone is told to put on their aprons. And they do. So, for the rest of the ritual, on top of their temple undergarments with the masonic-type markings, and on top of their white temple clothes, temple patrons wear a dark green apron-in obedience to Lucifer and symbolizing his power and priesthoods.
This stands in stark contrast to what happens in the Bible: God removes the fig-leaf coverings that Adam and Eve make and replaces them with animal skins He provides. This foreshadows and represents the covering for sins provided by Jesus when he was slain on the cross as the Lamb of God (see John 1:29; Hebrews 9:22).
Will We Listen to Lucifer or Jesus?
Lucifer says, “Make you aprons.” In effect, do some of it yourself-it’s the only way to preserve some semblance of pride, dignity, and self-respect, and to gain for yourself what you need. That is quite consistent with the instructions every Latter-day Saint is given before going through the temple endowment ceremony.
Your Endowment is, to receive all those ordinances in the House of the Lord, which are necessary for you, to enable you to walk back to the presence of the Father, passing the angels who stand as sentinels, being enabled to give them the key words, the signs and the tokens, pertaining to the Holy Priesthood, and thus gain your eternal exaltation.
Jesus said, “It is finished” (John 19:30). In effect, “I’ve done it for you, all of it. Now are you willing to humble yourself enough to simply take it?”
As long as you are trying to contribute anything of your own to merit God’s provision of eternal life in His presence, you are rejecting the gift of Jesus Christ’s finished work on your behalf.
Jesus said: "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28). (Nowhere in the Scriptures does Jesus say anything about an apron…or grips…or signs and tokens.) You can trust Jesus.

*스* yes I do realize that many people aren’t able to attend but a lot of couples also do a second ceremony so that people who don’t aren’t able to enter the temple at that time can still see their wedding :) what happens in temples isn’t sworn to secrecy like this video makes it seem a bit, actually when new temples open they have a “temple open-house” and anyone who is interested can have a tour whether they’re a member or not, as the tour goes on they tell you what happens in each room. I have been to two open-houses they are beautiful buildings and they are extremely peaceful. I think a big part why the church doesn’t let non members in is because many people don’t agree with the religion and they may be afraid that some people will disrespect the temple, they call the temple “the house of God” so it is very important to them

Mormons have 2 types of houses of worship, meeting houses and temples. Meeting houses are like the typical church buildings , they have a chapel ( sanctuary ) ,classrooms , fellowship room etc. Anyone is welcome in a meeting house, that is where our Sunday services take place as well as a number of weekly activ ities such as the meetings of the youth ministries . Temples are different, they are not used for Sunday meetings, but only for specific religious ceremonies and for sealings, the term we use for marriages performed in the temple. Mormons believe that when a couple is sealed in a temple marriage, their union will not end at death but will last for eternity and that they will be united as families with their children, other descendants and ancestors. A Mormons couple can be married in a meeting house, in that case the ceremony is performed by a bishop and non members can attend. This type of wedding is like a civil ceremony and it is until death . Many couples who marry this way, later on , will go to a temple to solemnize their union.
