    The Mk II has been fortunate in that it seems to have great luck with model kits. I imagine some of that comes down to the design itself.

      Not always, the PG is pretty mediocre, it can’t stand up and the torso comes apart if you don’t glue the part that connects the chest to the waist

    Not sure if anyone's said it so far but one huge tip I have for any kit that comes with braided cables -- Always cut off approximately 2 millimeters more than the instructions say. You will always have a surplus of cabling left so don't worry about not having enough. Then, take a lighter and lightly singe the ends. This will cause the plastic to melt and prevent the cable fraying. It also makes it much easier to slot it in to wherever it needs to go.

      I did cut a little more than what they suggested but that lighter technique is a good idea I'll use that in the future thank you

    I love the early Real Grades just as much as the newer ones, they basically require paint or a top coat to keep them stable long term, while they have their problems they are still a fun build and look amazing to this day.

    The ear muffs is actually the vulcan gun, the Mk 2 for some reason doesn't have built-in vulcans, opting for a modular version

    • @CD-Gaming
      @CD-Gaming Рік тому +1

      It wasn't originally meant for combat, it was only a testbed for the new Moveable Frame System the TITANS were developing for the Earth Federation at the time which later became pretty standardised on later Mobile Suits such as the Barzam and Baund Doc! And yet, look at what it took to destroy the last one! Madness... It should not have actually lasted anywhere near as long as it did, it was outdated before the Gryps Conflict even started!
      (By the way, I love the Mk. II, it was the first unit I used back when I first played Dynast Warriors Gundam about 13 years ago now, that's why I picked up the RG as my first Gundam kit!)

    I agree with the MG MK II being one of the best Master Grades out there. Very solid and an amazing build. I actually prefer the somewhat less detailed look of the MG as it feels more animation accurate to me. That said the RG is great as well and I like both for what they are. Watching the review made me nostalgic for the builds!

  • @Arrowdodger

    I think the Mk II's bazooka might just be a touch small in canon, since it seems consistent across kits. I agree with you on the vulcan pod working better on this than the MG.

    for the cables, you really should have lightly fused the frayed edges on the cut ends with a lighter to prevent further fraying. I did it on my kit and have zero issues with the cables.

    I am surprised you didn't talk about the navy blue plastic and the nubs. But I actually loved the AEUG version when I had it, it was my first ever gundam kit.
    If I had the funds, I would snatch the Titans one up because I like the black quite a bit. Thanks for another review, sir.

    • @jabman025

      the nubs were pretty bad on this kit, but most real grade kits are bad about nubs

    • @SnowFiresinger
      @SnowFiresinger 2 роки тому

      @@jabman025 I actually have started to forgive a lot of the nubs on kits, either for the products' molds, the age of the plastic, or the difficulty of placement, personally, since the vast majority can be repaired, hidden, or painted over.
      The only time I really don't is obvious, avoidable ones on chromed, electroplated plastic.

    I built the AEUG version. Great little kit. I buy water slides for all of my kits now though. I like to apply a matt top coat. The foil stickers add some nice detail so I'll apply those after sealing the decals.

    The alternate parts are to build the test version. You get different shoulder tops and vents, different chest vents, and different vents for the sides of the legs.

    I'm building the RG Nu Gundam right now and really prefer the Mini Master Grade or by that Point almost Mini Perfect Grade but the Mk.II is one of these kits that I'll just HAVE to get around Ro eventually.

    I'm probably in the minority here when I say this, but... I HATE building the pipes and mesh parts for the Gundam Mk. II RG and MG kits. Like, it's a really cool gimmick, but it's such a PAIN to make sure that I've measured the right amount of mesh and wire to cut and then try assembling them and then making sure that they don't come loose when building around them. Just give me a rubbery solid hose or pipe piece like the ones we see in the HGUC Palace Athena or the HGUC Gaza-C. Those things are so much easier to handle. But aside from THAT issue, I ADORE the RG and MG Gundam Mk.II kits, although I don't have the Titans versions of either yet, just the AEUG ones.

  • @porkflaps4717
    @porkflaps4717 Рік тому +1

    To this day its a great kit. Best RG for years actually. That's a missile launcher on the shield and the headset is a vulcan gun. I see you used the optional extra test team parts for the thrusters on the legs.. I did that for a TTT unit but used the shoulders and intakes as well.

    I'm still hoping we get an RG RX-178B Build Gundam Mk-II (Build Fighters). I'm surprised it hasn't been done yet. But then again Bandai hasn't done an RG for things like GAT-X105B/ST Star Build Strike Gundam; something that could've been released via a P-Bandai UB-01 Universe Booster set. 🤷‍♂

  • @TypeVertigo
    @TypeVertigo 2 роки тому

    Built the AEUG version after hearing all the praise about it being one of the best early RGs. It's...all right. Not quite as articulated as I was expecting, and the joints have a knack for going a certain way, then resisting further movement or softly springing back to place. That's the Advanced MS Joint system I guess, as applied to an entire MS frame. The shoelace material for the cables is definitely a pain point, too. I don't have the MG Mk-II yet but I imagine it should be the better, easier poser. Not by a huge margin, but noticeably so. RG does look very detailed, and if I had to pick the RG over any of its HGUCs, it's the easy pick.

    • @BioGoji-zm5ph
      @BioGoji-zm5ph Рік тому

      It is easier to build the MG Mk. II... except for the inner moving parts of the SHIELD. That was a nightmare because of how much force I had to use to snap it together while being utterly terrified that I was going to break it in the process.

    I'm doing this kit right now. I saw another old review of it and the person said that the kit was solid, that you could almost throw it against a wall and it wouldn't come apart. That has not been my experience. I'm about to start gluing stuff to the MS joint frame because there are several pieces (side of legs, knees, the center piece on the waist in back) that will not stay on. It's really frustrating. Also, I saw someone melt the ends of the hose outers. I wish I had known this. The frayed ends keep popping out. This is my fourth RG kit (Crossbones, Hi-V, and Wing Zero). I'm addicted to RGs, but I think I'll stick to the newer ones from now on.

  • @keithkeith293

    That's not a coms unit that goes on the head. It's the vulcan pod. The MK-II doesn't have the vulcans in the head. The left side are the actual vulcans and I believe the right side is the targeting module.

    I keep having issues fitting the torso onto the waist there, mainly due to that surround part, had it with my first TITANS Mk. II, had it with my second (decided to build Unit 02 to go with my original, Unit 01, picked as a reference to the Animé), it jus will not sit right! I've followed the manual, even reread the manual, yet still... What is going on?

      Mg Nu ver Ka is 3200 pesos. Considering the plastic quantity in the box, RG Nu is very expensive. Same goes to the newer RG's. Which sells for the price of a decent mastergrade.

      I mean I already lose parts on master grades but Just imagine how much worse it'd be with 1/144 scale sizes.
      I had to buy the MG Gundam Barbertos three times due to parts going MIA and I don't mean Mobilesuits In Action either.

      I've only been building kits for a year. I started with HG, then 1/100 NG, then MG, then back to HG, and now RG. I prefer RG because I just think the smaller size doesn't take up too much shelf space, and the RGs (new ones anyway), just seem more stable than MGs.
