I absolutely LOVE "joke" runs in speedrunning. My favorite one ever isn't a Mario one though, it's Moan% for darksouls. One of the optional bosses moans as part of her death sound effect. If you kill her in a single hit the sound effect sometimes plays on loop and the game is softlocked. The speedrun is to see who can softlock fastest XD
The NSMB game over% being 8 seconds faster is because of the loading times. Playing on emulator has faster loads than real DS and subsequently several seconds faster. But for fair competition, the difference of loading times is added back so there is a "time with loads" column and the ranking is based on that time. A reference is that a cannons/any% run on emulator has to add 47 seconds to the final time.
If I may offer an explanation about "Super Mario Bros 2 USA" in "No World 4" is a speed run you have to do where you can't play World 4 at all due to most Speedrun players using the warp pipe at the end of World 1-3 and then using the warp pipe in World 4-2 to World 6 to save time, but in this case having players play through Worlds 1+2 until you reach World 3-1 where you use the warp pipe at the bottom of the level to warp to World 5 and then to save time use the warp pipe in world 5-3 to go to World 7, which on the note of using warp pipes to play through regardless of speed running is my preferred path, on Speedrun I'd like to see if they have it or if they don't I want people to do is a %100 Speedrun with subcategories like can/can't use shortcuts like in World's 1-1 + 3-1 to get to the bosses faster as well as the addition of having to use all 4 characters equal amount of times, and I do the equal thing all the time and if anyone else does it I'd suggest that you determine what stages a certain character works best in depending on what you have to do in that level especially if you want to use the World 3-1 Shortcut which from what I can tell requires Peach to do it, but that is the kind of Speedrun I'd like to see as it shows how fast one can beat the game without glitches or skipping stuff, lastly I have a request for Mr. CopyCat about what to do in the future you can either do a video solely about the original version of "Super Mario Bros 2 USA" called "Yume Kojo Doki Doki Panic" talking about the game it's storyline and the characters and their origins outside the game both in story and in who made them in reality, this way we can learn more about the characters and if possible where else we might see their stories outside of the game, and the other option for a video would be to compare the different versions of "Super Mario Bros 2 USA" including "Yume Kojo Doki Doki Panic", the unreleased prototype version, the original NES version, the SNES version, and the Gameboy Advance version, as well as any other versions that exist sighting out the differences between them and the similarities as well as what in each version people like best, of course you could do both ideas but I would be happy if you did at least 1 of those 2 ideas, in any case I think this was good in seeing what different kinds of playthrough rules for each game can be applied and it might be interesting to see what other people want in these kinds of playthrough rule Speedruns so we can get players to do them like the one I suggested earlier in this comment, until then in the words of "The World's Greatest Canadian: Keep Your Stick On The Ice"
hahaha you weren't kidding, that kid getting the Crash% WR was crazy wholesome! I'm not even sure why exactly, but it's great nonetheless! Edit: you can't use cannons in CCCless because calling it just CCless wouldn't have sounded nearly as cool. Obviously.
SMB1 Minus World isn't actually unused content. The game is just pulling level data from areas where it shouldn't which can create strange levels. Some of these are copy paste levels, while other are underground/water/castle versions of levels that already exist. And then there's just garbage levels with random stuff all over the place. Just explaining what Minus World stuff is (there's more "minus worlds" but you can search for those yourself if interested.
The minus worlds are NOT unused content, that's just what happens when the game tries to load a world that doesn't exist, it takes non-level data, and tries to interpret that as data.
will there be a zelda version of this? right now my favorite weird runs are get laid % and brag about it % for botw. i dont know if they have a leaderboard though
Hey i play every games with one hand... my left arm and hand are disable... i never knew it was a speedrun thing lol... but since the n64 i play with my right hand but i'm holding the controller with my left hand because its easier to play because Without it... ouf... not funny and its very difficult to play..
@PumpkinHead when I saw Banjo kazooie I just thought of what if Banjo Kazooie had lyrics Holy cow that’s interesting and was it a financial reason or something like that or was it for something else
You're missing the "All Signs" for SM64. Simply made that run hilarious!

7:10 that really is 1 of the most wholesome celebration I can think of
Min caps (especially 3 captures) is definitely the craziest SMO speedrun

Also fun fact: minus world is actually world 36 but the game just displays 36 as a blank tile.
Yo this video is epic, thanks for including me :D
