@Maple Leaf ESL: 1) Are there any specific set of rules with the verb changes from active to passive? 2)Are they cases when the passive conversion it does not have the verb to be in any form ? 3) Active Voice: He will have received the letter. Passive Voice: The letter will have been received by him ( as given here, do we always maintain the same tense of the active sentence? Thank you so much, sorry for my rather long query! I appreciate your videos so much!
Hi Marie, 1) I think I outlined the rules in the video, no? 2) Without the verb, it's probably no longer a true sentence 3) Both of your sentences are correct. Changing the form would then change the nuance or even the full meaning.
Hi Olegman, thanks for the question. There's not a big difference between those two expressions. However, I might say that 'I'm told' means I was directly told something quite recently, whereas 'I've been told' sounds like I was told something at an indeterminate time in the past, not necessarily recently. Hope this helps!
Thanks a million dear friend. I have a question plz reply it, That is eg. The decision has been made to increase local taxas . Can we use was, is, instead of has been? How to identify brother? Im in little bit confusion
In this sentence, 'was' could certainly be used: "The decision was made to increase local taxes." The difference is that with 'was' the decision was made in the past, and perhaps has no connection to the present. With 'has been' there is a connection to the present or at least the very recent past. So, for instance: "The decision has recently been made to increase taxes," vs. "The decision was made a long time ago to increase taxes."
Both sentences are correct and both are passive. The difference is that in the sentence 'the TV is broken' it shows the current state of the TV, whereas in the sentence 'the TV was broken' it indicates more about the action of what happened to the TV in the past.
why passive and active sound like present perfect, so how do we use them...........we use active, passive or present perfect???? I meant the meaning are the same???
Alex Thai, the meanings are definitely not the same. I might suggest re-watching the video for the difference between active and passive. I also have a video on using the present prefect tense that you could check out.
Assalamualykum sir..I am from Bangladesh I have completed my graduation already but I don't know English basically infact I don't understand clause, transitive verb and many others grammatical items basically..but I want to learn so whom books I should follow or how I can overcome.. especially in grammar item.. please sir let me know 😞
As for the passive voice, what is the difference between these similar sentences? Which one sounds the most natural to the native speakers? My wallet was stollen. My wallet got stollen. I got my wallet stollen.
All of them certainly work and they all mostly sound natural. I might say the last one would be the sentence I would use the least but really that's just splitting heirs. Also, don't forget that it's 'stolen'.
Maple Leaf ESL thank you for correcting the typo. I never knew stollen means a cake-like fruit bread. I might’ve trusted autocorrect on macOS too much.
Thank you, I kept looking around and this is the first I found that does more than just the most basic examples
Thanks for taking a look!

Thank you Andrew for lesson. I have a question. What is the difference between "I'm told' and I've been told'? Can I use it in Continuous Passive?
Hi Olegman, thanks for the question. There's not a big difference between those two expressions. However, I might say that 'I'm told' means I was directly told something quite recently, whereas 'I've been told' sounds like I was told something at an indeterminate time in the past, not necessarily recently. Hope this helps!
Thank you
I am told is the present tense
I am being told is the present continuous tense
I have been told is in the present perfect continuous tense
Excellent video keep it up
Thanks so much!
"When the object becomes the focus." You've dropped "s" in a verb "become".
Because I wrote 'object/action' which is two things and hence plural, I wrote 'become'.
OK sister keep going I have understood
You know it, girlfriend!

When we use passive voice how do we form when we need to specify the time? Like when the situation is happened or no,
Could you provide an example of what you mean? I'm not really sure what you're asking. Sorry.
